A very strong debut, told from different viewpoints, which I enjoyed. They key characters, Skye Turner and her husband Duncan, and the detective, Mei O`Conner all had their own problems before the disastrous weekend that culminated in the death of one of the guests and the serious illness of a six-year old, Skye's daughter.
The setting, the affluent suburbs in Sydney, and the super rich who live there, all behaving badly which garners a certain train-wreck watching frisson.
A pacy page turner with a I-did-not-see-that-coming ending.

This book had me hooked from the very first page. I loved the smooth, simple writing style and couldn’t put it down. The story was gripping throughout, and while the ending didn’t land as strongly for me as the rest of the book, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the overall experience.

Unputdownable. Two perspectives, both women, gained my sympathy early in the game. The story has Trumpian parallels - how the elite get away with terrible crimes for years. There's some good descriptive language, with a plot twist at the end that was well held back.
