Great Guidebook for anyone needing assistance with Organization, Cleaning and Maintenance
The book is amazing! It is very detailed and well written. The topics are great and the layout of each section is so well organized and explained for easy reading and referring back to sections of your particular interest. The book tackles every room in your house and lays out subjections for each one. I like the idea of giving direction and examples of how to help and accomplish your individual goals.
I see a bit of myself, spouse, and son in reading some of these chapters. Especially my husband's hoarding and procrastination tendencies. Unfortunately, my son inherited his procrastination gene. The Mindful Decluttering sub-chapter will definitely be helpful in trying overcome some of these difficult situations of letting go of personal items. The other section that I found useful is The Art of Maintenance sub-chapter of practicing regular decluttering. I believe this is essential in keeping things neat and organized after cleaning up the clutter. I truly enjoyed reading the book and I feel others will as well.
I feel like I found the right book to help me get my house uncluttered. The book does a great job explaining why cleaning and decluttering can feel so overwhelming for someone with ADHD. The tips on ways to gamify cleaning, and organizing feel doable. And the advice on how to organize once I get decluttered makes sense. But the acknowledgement that it’s easy to backslide into old habits felt real and the suggestions to recognize when the is happening and how to overcome the backslides may make a difference for me this time around.
I really enjoyed this book and the many suggestions that it gave for decluttering while managing the extra challenge of having ADHD. Some of the suggestions that I really enjoyed were time boxing (setting a time limit like 15 minutes for a task and then moving to something else when the time is up) and the five box method. And asking the questions, “have I used this in the past year? Does it work? Do I really need it?” Of course there were many other beneficial suggestions that I look forward to putting in practice very soon. Great read.
As a health professional, I work with a lot of people who have ADHD, and this book offers a practical and encouraging guide to help people gain control over their spaces and lives. I like how the book breaks down big, daunting tasks into manageable steps, empowering people to de-clutter with small steps at a time. It has ADHD-specific strategies and focuses on progress over perfection, a great strength of this book. This is an excellent tool for anyone looking to build good habits, find balance, and embrace neurodiversity.
Helpful and easy to follow. This guide makes tackling everyday clutter and ADHD-related overwhelm feel doable. I especially liked the quick, practical strategies, like breaking big jobs into tiny timed steps that I could start using right away. The tone is encouraging without being preachy, and the examples made the advice feel real and achievable. A great resource if just looking for simple ways to stay organized.
