4.3 stars. So thankful for another. ARC from this series!!! I’m saddened that this is the end of the series ( minus a novella due late this year). I really enjoyed the story progression for book 1 to 3 but I felt like I needed more after the fig part of the story. I don’t want to give away much but if you know you know.

As someone who devours fantasy and young adult ARCs, Each Their Own Devil by L.B. Black delivered everything I look for in a series finale—and then some. This third installment is not only a gripping conclusion but also a deeply introspective journey into identity, loyalty, and the limits we place on ourselves in the name of survival.

Aleja, now the Dark Saint of Wrath, is a protagonist I’ve loved watching evolve. From fiery resilience to vulnerable introspection, her growth feels raw and authentic. L.B. Black writes with emotional precision, weaving Aleja’s inner turmoil with the external stakes in a way that feels both epic and deeply personal. Her struggle to be heard—and believed—when even those closest to her question her fears adds a heartbreaking layer of realism in this magical world.

The supporting characters also shine—flawed, complex, and beautifully human. The themes of forgiveness, the ever-blurry line between enemy and ally, and the weight of free will are skillfully handled without ever feeling heavy-handed. Even the antagonist's warnings are laced with nuance, forcing the reader—and Aleja—to constantly reevaluate what’s right.

A satisfying, emotional, and thought-provoking ending to a stellar series. If you’re a fan of morally complex heroines, fierce magic, and gorgeously written worlds, Each Their Own Devil is a must-read.

I loved this series so much. I started the first one last summer, then the second, and waited this long wait for this one to come out. It was most certainly worth the wait. Everything about this story kept you wondering what's happening next. So many twists in this book. It did not disappoint.

This series kept me on my toes and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved the characters, and the rich descriptions and how humanized Aleja still felt throughout the books.

I thought the plot of trying to kill the First was interesting but at points it did feel like it dragged. And then when the decision to also kill the Second was reached, that felt a bit rushed and was covered way less.

To circle back to Aleja - she never truly stopped caring for her best friend despite wanting to and that felt relatable. Even after Violet’s betrayal, even at her worst when she was ready to kill Violet, she still promised to Bonnie that she wouldn’t. I think Violet made a good sort of “villain”.

Bonnie and Violet’s relationship (or Bonnie’s attachment to Violet) made less sense to me because they barely knew each other. It didn’t make sense to me how withdrawn and different Bonnie became when Violet left after knowing her for such a short time. I think if we had seen more of their relationship or seen it more fleshed out, it wouldn’t have felt so much like a plot point that was added just to keep Violet alive in parts.

But overall, it was a good read and this author never disappoints! I’m looking forward to checking out her other series and future works!!

Over all I enjoyed reading the last book in the series. However, the book would have gained a lot by going a little less into that many directions and answering the questions more thoroughly which were left open by the first books two. There are so many interesting plots and turns that at times it felt dizzying and hard to keep all the players and connections straight. I enjoyed the glimpses it gave about the true tasks of the Dark Saints, although at times it felt a little strange to have Aleja be so wrapped up in her former self that she felt a little like an imposter. I did very much enjoy the relationship between Aleja and the Knowing One as well as the loyalty displayed by the Dark Saints. My favorite, however, is the “little” Avisai, who seems to have taken a liking to her. Who wouldn’t love a dragon?

It’s a great series for all that love magic, mysticism, strange realms, magical creatures and great world building.

It took me some time to finish this last book in the series. I really liked the first two books, but I couldn't get through the first chapters of this third one. I had to go back and read the last chapters of the second book to grap the cliffhangers. After, I started with this book again. That helped a lot, characters fell into place and the story made sence again.

It was a worthy ending! With Aleja as the newly made saint of Wrath, she has to make a decision about trust that will put her love, her friends and the world on the line. Will she trust the messenger? And what up with Violet?

After a very big battle and a lot of tormoil, heated conversation, trustissues and mutual love, all ends well.

For me there could be less battle in the story, but I usually don't like battles in books. The story with Vivian could be more pronounced, but I liked the book and I recommend the series. I enyoyed reading our Lady of fire!

Aleja has worked hard to regain her position as the Dark Saint of Wrath. The Messenger of the opposing faction continues to warn Aleja of an imminent danger far greater than the current war, convincing Aleja that she must help the Messenger with an impossible task. The Knowing One and the other Dark Saints don't believe the Messenger, and as Aleja is missing her memories, she can't decide for herself who to trust. Will she do what it takes to save everyone she loves, even if it means betraying them?

Each Their Own Devil is the fantastic conclusion to the Our Lady of Fire series. Themes of the nature of enemies, forgiveness, and the pursuit of freedom are expertly woven into a powerful narrative. A truly compelling and impactful read that does a remarkable job of examining the true meaning of free will and the restrictions that we allow to bind us.

There's been a lot of water (and books!) under the bridge since I finished book 2 of the Our Lady of Fire series, so I had to go back and do a little refresher before starting in on 'Each Their Own Devil'. As with book 2 this one jumps straight into the action and these books MUST be read in order if you're going to have any hope of understanding what's going on!

As I posted in my review of the first book 'What is Dark Within Me' Aleja’s stubbornness is not a glitch but a feature! and that feature has carried her successfully thru the 2nds trials to reclaim her former position as the Dark Saint of Wrath and Fire and Nicolas's wife.

But all is not well in the hiding place. The ongoing war with the Astralis is hotter than ever and our newly installed Dark Saint is going to have to re-prove herself as a force to be reckoned with and respected.

Not going to spoil anything so,

I am a huge fan of Ms. Black's stories and 'Our Lady of Fire' series has NOT disappointed! I will eagerly await the promised novella continuing (finishing/expanding) this world. And recommend the author's stories to all readers that like in-depth world building, adventure and some spicy romance!

It took me a few goes to get into this book. I found I needed to revisit the second book and then start this one. It helped remind me of the players and their journeys. Do not try to read this as a standalone. You will need the knowledge from the first two books to even have a hope of following along.
Great characters, wonderful world building, the lore is well developed and the storyline has a great pace.

no memory of how I originally found this series but I waited awhile for this book 3 and it did not disappoint. except maybe the ending kinda did disappoint in that it felt abrupt...I wanted more story of the after times, just a lil. don't say "happy ending assumed. the end" ...TELL ME THE HEA but, just a lil

The overall plotting of this is why I finished it. I genuinely wanted to know what happened, but I can’t stand Aleja and Nick. The interchangeable use their titles instead of their names irritated me too. For the amount of stuff that happened in the story, there was not enough description, characterization, or character development. It all felt surface level.

This series went in directions I never anticipated and kept me on the edge of my seat for 3 books straight. Nicolas and Aleja are the ultimate love story, enduring through death, war, and the end of the world. I highly recommend reading the Our Lady Of Fire series

Read all three books and really enjoyed them. Loved that the love story was not the main focus. But the plot was strong throughout the whole trilogy. Neat characters, definitely some very original ideas in the world building.
