San Diego Seals Hockey #3

Don't Puck Up: A Steamy Why Choose MMF Second Chance Masked Man Hockey Romance

Rate this book
A masked man at the doorway. An enticing order and a night of intense pleasure.

We could have chosen to fight. Instead, we ran, knowing he’d chase us.

I wanted to get caught.

I shouldn’t be excited at the thought of being captured and pucked wherever he trapped us.

But that was where we found ourselves.

It was a far cry from the scandal that nearly ended my marriage to my NHL defenseman husband, Chris Minns.

This was so much riskier.

If anyone found out, it would destroy his pro-hockey career. His team, the San Diego Seals, wouldn’t accept any more negative press.

Vacationing in Fiji was supposed to be our second change. We wanted to reconnect and repair the damage to our marriage.

The trip turned into so much more.

I just hope we don’t puck up.

Don’t Puck Up is a masked-man MMF why choose romance with a sexy possessive stranger who loves the chase, a bisexual pro-hockey player who’s on the path to self-acceptance, and a curvy girl who captures both their hearts.

CW: violence and religion-based homophobia.

By day Ann Grech lives in the corporate world and can be found sitting behind a desk typing away at reports and papers or lecturing to a room full of students. She graduated with a PhD in 2016 and is now an over-qualified nerd. Glasses, briefcase, high heels and a pencil skirt, she’s got the librarian look nailed too. If only they knew! She swears like a sailor, so that’s got to be a hint. The other one was “the look” from her tattoo artist when she told him that she wanted her kids initials “B” and “J” tattooed on her foot. It took a second to register that it might be a bad idea.
She’s never entirely fit in and loves escaping into a book—whether it’s reading or writing one. But she’s found her tribe now and loves her MM book world family. She dislikes cooking, but loves eating, can’t figure out technology, but is addicted to it, and her guilty pleasure is Byron Bay Cookies. Oh and shoes. And lingerie. And maybe handbags too. Well, if we’re being honest, we’d probably have to add her library too given the state of her credit card every month (what can she say, she’s a bookworm at heart)!
She also publishes her raunchier short stories under her pen name, Olive Hiscock.

I don't know how Ann did it, but I am one of those people who can hold a grudge and Chris was on my sh-t list after what he did to Huxley. I understand the circumstances of why he did what he did but like I said, I hold grudges. The point is Ann somehow got me to forgive this man, connect with him, and even root for him, and that's no easy task. Chris, Kamirah and V/Locke are one hot throuple. OMG those Fiji scenes had me panting and begging for more. My gosh, what a deliciously steamy story. I loved these three together. The story is also full of emotional moments between each other but also between them and their families, and them and the team. Ann did an amazing job bringing the religious trauma and the religious discrimination so many people in the LGBTQIA+ community are made to endure, all in the name of God. Let me just not get started on this topic or I'll never stop. However, I would've loved to see more groveling from Chris to both Huxley, the team, and especially Kamirah. That being said, the point is the book is great, the romance is awesome, the spice is volcano hot and Ann did it all masterfully. Cannot recommend enough!

💔🏒 Redemption, Love, and Finding Peace

How Chris could be redeemed after the betrayal of Huxley was something that I was totally not ready for….I admit that he was on my “no Christmas card” list as a character. And yet Ann worked her magic and made me feel for him , forgive and even in the end be converted to his cheer squad…

Chris, Kamirah, and Locke’s story is everything - tender, passionate, and achingly human. The connection between them isn’t just physical (though those Fiji scenes? Holy hell 🔥) — it’s emotional, raw, and healing. Watching them learn to love themselves and each other, despite fear, shame, and the weight of the past, absolutely shattered me.

Ann doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff — the religious trauma, the discrimination, the deep scars so many in the LGBTQIA+ community carry. She writes it with honesty and heart, showing both the pain and the power of reclaiming your truth. It’s heavy, it’s hopeful, and it’s real. Chris’s journey of redemption was one of the most moving parts of the book. The found family, the team, the unwavering love — I very happily admit to turning into a blubbering mess during parts of this book.

Ann balanced scorching heat with soul-deep emotion, and this book is a perfect example of that. It’s about love in all its messy, beautiful forms — forgiveness, acceptance, and the courage to be seen.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Stunningly emotional, unapologetically steamy, and profoundly human.
Ann reminds us that redemption isn’t just possible — it’s worth fighting for.

Although I was on the ARC group for this I actually was lucky enough to get a pre-release purchase at RARE25 Melbourne. To hold the book in my hands made the read so much more enjoyable.

Makes you feel

Ann Grech, you have once again floored me with another beautifully written, emotionally draining unputdownable story. I have always loved Ann's poly stories, but DON'T PUCK UP reached deeply into my heart. It was the story of a couple trying to repair a broken relationship, a masked man who not only brings truth but a deeper love, the trauma of religious discrimination, and the fear of being who you were always meant to be. DON'T PUCK UP brought on tears, made you laugh, scream with frustration and rage, and brought on a lot of sighs. It made me feel.

Chris and Kamirah Minns are trying to repair a marriage due to the consequences of his actions involving his teammate Alec Huxley, Sweet as Puck. A holiday in Fiji turns into so much more than either expected when they meet an enticing masked stranger. V brings a new dynamic to their relationship, one which has Chris realising he finally has to accept and admit a truth he has been denying for so long. This throuple, Chris, Kam, and V, are incredible together, the emotion, understanding, and acceptance between them were simply beautiful. The heat ... WOW! Spicy, kinky, flammable, explosive, never have three people been more perfect for each other.

Ann holds nothing back with this story. It is the perfect example of why I love her words and keep coming back for more. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Hockey, a masked man, and a poly relationship? Instant win in my books.

Throw in the fact we're getting Kam and Minns' story (I've been wondering about them since the events of book one), and this book gripped me from the second I started reading. Minns finally gets his redemption, and what a beautiful one it was.

My bestie and I buddy-read this ARC, and you know when a book has either one of our attentions, as our discord thread goes silence. We were both so swept away with the emotions, the storyline and the events in this book that we went from "holy shit, V is hot" to "Ann just made me cry" hours later, much percentage of the book later - heed the warnings in this one, because it gets tough.

There are so many amazing moments in this book - from Minns, Kam and V connecting, to allowing themselves to be free with their wants and wishes, but the most powerful, amazing, emotion evoking moment? The moment of acceptance. (Not me hiding praying that's not a spoiler!)

As I said to my bestie - Ann's writing is so genuine, and so powerful. You wouldn't expect such emotional turmoil from a poly hockey romance, but damn did she bring it, and always brings it with every book in this series. It's the combination of the emotion, the spice/k!nk, and the romance that keeps us coming back for more, time and time again.

Again, the found family is strong in this one, and the set up/character reveal for the next book has me so excited!

Thank you to the author and @forewordpr for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

This one was a steamy holiday getaway turned real life redemption romance. I thought for sure that I would be kicking Chris in the ankles for eternity, but Ann redeemed him and more in this one. The reader gets to see him blossom as a partner to his wife and Locke, but more than that, watching him and Hux and Monroe’s developing friendship repaired the pieces of my heart that broke both in this book and in Sweet as Puck. Locke is possessive and protective in the best possible ways. He’s a perfect fit and a good reminder that things work out for a reason. Although some would argue, I think Kam’s one of the strongest women. She stood with the man she loved while he fought his demons and came out stronger on the other side. She found her true tribe of friends. She found herself and what she valued most and wasn’t willing to compromise on. Plus, her relationship with her dad made me emotional in the best way. I was rooting for these three, and I can’t wait for our next Seal pairing to find love so we can check in on the team again.

Masked man MMF romance that had some redemption for Chris who we found in book one of the series.

If you need a ride or die FMC who takes the heat for her man, this one is for you. Kamirah loves her man deeply and is hurt by his choice to stay silent.
I found Chris hard to like at the beginning but I understand his feelings, especially with a family like his.
Playing with fire, they find their fantasy of being stalked and "loved" come true.
Locke is a movie star who plays delves into method acting deeply. He becomes V for them after a chance meeting and overhearing their fantasy.

This one is about accepting yourself, forgiveness and finding new love.
Emotions run high in this one and it has homophobic based violence so please beware of the triggers.

CHECK THE CONTENT W@RNINGS! There aren’t many, but they hit hard.

I swear Ann puts something in her books that just makes them so utterly addictive and impossible to put down. There is always a perfect blend of humour, fluff, spice, and heavy-hitting emotion.

Whilst written as an interconnected standalone and you can totally launch straight into this one, I’d really recommend reading at least the first book in the series before this one so you can truly appreciate Minn’s character growth. (plus, it’s also just as good… #justsaying)

As my bestie said in their own review, you know it’s a good book when both of us forget we are buddy reading it and the Discord thread goes dead silent for 50% of the book…

I laughed, I cried, I swooned, and I’ve already picked up a copy of the SE…

I'm a big fan of Ann's work, and I must say she excelled in this series. I appreciated getting to know them from a different perspective, beyond the scope of the other two books. I'm truly proud of Chris for his actions. And, I must commend Kam for her unwavering support, despite the pain it caused her - it was palpable even to me. Fortunately, they rekindled their relationship and took the necessary steps to achieve happiness. Their masked man was indeed top-tier perfection!! And the spice, 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵!! I've thoroughly enjoyed this series and witnessing the character development. I'm eagerly anticipating the next book.

‘Don’t Puck Up’ is book #3 in the San Diego seals Hockey Series. It was perfect as a standalone but even better when you have read the earlier books. I love Ann Grech and her polygamous MMF romances, I can’t resist any of them.

As expected Minn and her men give us a book that is full of steam chemistry, a rollercoaster of emotions all piled into a great storyline with some added laughs and soft bits ❤️

I loved finally getting Chris and Kam’s story! They meet someone in Fiji and, eventually, realize they’ve fallen for him. Chris is finally ready to come out, but not everyone is supportive. Spicy hot deliciousness and a bit of heartbreak. I love these characters and how they’ve found family with their friends and teammates. So great!!!

This was the first book I've ever read from Ann Grech and I'll be getting the other books from this series. Honestly I absolutely feel in love with Minns, Kam and Locke. There was just the right amount of tension and the best amount of smut and I absolutely loved it all. Can't wait to read the rest of the series as I already feel on love with the other characters.

Love this series! Yes there's spice but these stories and characters have so much heart. Like others mentioned, the redemption and growth of Chris, plus his heartbreaking and all-too-real coming out experience, made this so much more than just a sexy hockey romance. Can't wait to read #4 when it's released!

sexy as F, hockey mmf erotic romance

Grech leans into the erotic fantasy but builds it on top of strong characters with complex emotions and issues that draw sympathy, even when they're making mistakes,

. . . but mainly, this is great mmf chase smut with a fully fleshed storyline

This was a spicy little story! A couple vacationing, a neighbour overhearing their steamy fantasies and helping them act on them? Hot!

I liked this one! It's an MMF story, where one character is hiding his identity most of the time due to his popularity in the real world. That fact didn't deter the married couple though, and the relationship between the three became something sweet and real.

I enjoy this author's work, and this was another great read!
