The Edge #2

The Edge of Forever Lib/E

Rate this book
Weston Kincaid was my first…everything.
My brother's best friend should have come with a warning label.
The man was a cautionary tale and we were the ill-fated cliché. The star quarterback to my loner art geek.
But I didn't listen. Not to the warnings. Not to my instincts.
I fell, and I fell hard.

Then he left and I was forced to pick up the pieces of my broken heart.

A decade and a lifetime later, he's back.
Only instead of being the star jock, he's now a surgeon.
A sexy, irresistible surgeon who happens to save my friend's life. As if all that isn't bad enough, he has it in his determined, arrogant head that we should pick up where we left off all those years ago.

But this time, it'll take more than devouring looks and the rush of his touch to temp me back into his bed.
And my heart? Not an option.
He's about to figure out, I'm not the same girl he left behind.

3.5 stars. A well-written and satisfying romance that also doubles as a powerful, eye-opening analysis of , a societal issue that is very sadly overlooked.

I love a second chance romance and The Edge of Forever was such an awesome read!
Aria and Wes's story totally and completely enraptured me.
The romance in this book is so addictive and the storyline has an air of mystery that tingles your Sherlock Holmes senses and you can't help but be intrigued.

Wes is a dreamboat through and through..he is my McDreamy + McSteamy all wrapped up in one. His words are 😍 🤤 When he tells Aria "Fall in love with me again,Aria" with such devotion ? GOOSEBUMPS!

I think a lot of people will like Aria. She is the perfect example of quiet strength...she has this softness to her that is so appealing.

The ending of The Edge Of Forever was a little predictable but don't let it fool you. This is full of charm and sexiness that will make you wanting more. The characters are captivating and the romance in this book will make you feel hopeful and make you smile endlessly with it's love.

I was pretty excited for this book since I love the brothers-best-friend trope and it sounded really interesting. And it was actually pretty intriguing and I enjoyed reading it, but I also didn't love it as much as I hoped I would. Wes and Aria had a lot going on which sometimes just meant there was a lot to keep me interested but in the end it all just felt like a little too much. When the ending came and I finished reading I still felt like the romance between these characters wasn't finished and I was looking for a little more.

There were flash backs to them as teens that were put in and most of them I just didn't feel were necessary for us to know Wes and Aria. Then we had the drama with Aria's best friend in the hospital and us trying to figure out what happened to him. And then finally we had the romance in the present between these characters. Which by the time we got to it just felt like it was an after thought. I just felt like things were missing to complete the story with a sense of romance and happily ever after. I wanted more Wes and Aria in the present and not the random scenes of the past that still didn't add up to much. And I really really wanted some family scenes in the present. Especially with Aria's brother so we could see his reaction to them together. As it was, I can't even honestly say this was a brothers-best-friend kind of book since the brother wasn't really even in the story.

Overall, there were a lot of good parts to this story and I did still enjoy it. I was just looking for a little more romance I guess. But I can certainly say that it was intriguing and I think a lot of people will love reading this.

They were young, falling in love, but life and the “Bro Code” stood between Aria and Wes. Ten years later, their lives having taken them down separate paths, these two are about to discover that what they had as teens may not have gotten off the ground, but as adults, this was their time to make it or to walk away from what they each desperately wanted.

J. Saman’s THE EDGE OF FOREVER is more than just a second chance romance. This one breathes with a sense of reality that made me believe it could really happen, wait, that it SHOULD really happen for Aria and Wes! Both were mature, successful and lived the lives they had dreamed of. They were successful, but their hearts were still caught up in what never was, even as Fate saw fit to force their paths to cross again. Watching them switch roles between tentative and determined felt genuine. Seeing the strength that Aria had as an individual was refreshing, no shrinking violet here!

I have to say, I kind of liked seeing Wes a little off kilter about Aria while not going to pieces in his security in his chosen path as a surgeon. The side plots going on were a perfect balance to the romantic torches that were blazing in spite of the winds of turmoil!

The past and the present collide and the result is a romantic’s dream! Refreshing romance, wonderful characters and a few big twists along the way made this one a keeper for sure!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from J. Saman!

It took me awhile to get going with this story I felt it started off slow even though it didn’t! Once Wes and Aria reunited I was definitely on the edge of my seat reading the rest. What’s that saying? Bought the only seat but only needed the edge that was me.

I am a sucker for best friends brother or sister stories and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. It was steamy and had me addicted. More please!

I devoured this story as quickly as I could turn the pages. Wes and Aria's chemistry burned up my Kindle. The Hot Doc had such a sweet, cheeky grin (in my head) and Aria was endlessly interesting with her artist career and her really cool house. Add to that a mystery over who hurt her friend (I <3 Joshie so much) and this is a page-turner you can't put down.
If Saman scribbled a shopping list on the back of an envelope, I'd read it.

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

I have only read a few books by J. Saman but with each new story of hers that I read, she burns yet another scorching, angsty fictional couple into my heart that will remain there forever. From the moment I was drawn into Aria and Wes's world in The Edge of Forever, J. Saman kept my heart beating double time and me on the edge of my seat to see how these two were going to end up together after loving one another for years and years. She takes us back in time to see them fall madly for each other and experience every casual glance and touch that mean so much more. J. Saman shows us that love has no expiration date, that the ebbs and flows of life bring us together and some times tear us apart but if it is meant to be, it will be.

Aria had me intrigued from the get go with her brainiac, soft spoken ways and her star filled eyes and never ending crush on Wes. The more I got to know about this heroine, the more I realized that she has a steely strength underneath all that softness that most of us could only hope for. I loved watching her grow into a young woman who knows her own mind and self worth but yet still believes in the magic of love and forgiveness.

Wes Kincaid kept my emotions in knots and had me singing his praises one moment and wanting to shake the stubbornness from him in the next. But yet, he still won me over and stole my heart right along with Aria's. If you are looking for a hero that is the complete package, with charm, good looks, brains, and a mouth and sexy moves that often get him in trouble, Wes is most definitely your guy! I couldn't resist him and fell for him over and over again whether he was wearing a football jersey or a lab coat.

J. Saman delivers a love story that weaves us in and out of time and shows us all the ways that these two fell for one another. I highly recommend The Edge of Forever for a romance that has our hearts invested from the first page and keeps us waiting impatiently for the mystery and passion to unfold. I cannot praise J. Saman's writing and characters enough. She knows how to keep a reader enchanted and begging for more with each chapter and moment of drama that unfolds.

Once again, J. SAMAN strucks me with her AMAZINGNESS

This one is pretty different actually, it's a second chance romance.
And secon chance romances are always different from a book to another, i don't think there is a standard cliche form for a second chance, but this one is BRILLIANT.

It had DUAL pov, Aria's and Wes's.
It starts wth How Aria and Wes crosse pathes TODAY, and then chater after chapter we get glimpses of their past, in a SLOW BURN kinda way.
description
As always, J's books HAVE TO have a medical part, like it just has to, and i lovvveee it, Wes is a surgeon, so the whole thing was giving me Grey's anatomy vibes like no other!
description
Aria is an Artist, she creates arts, and finds it in the most unexpected places, i totally appreciated how she didn't need WES.
Yes she'd rather have him by her side.
but did that stop her from pursuiing her career, and creating Art? NO
And if that doesn't send a message, I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL!
description
Like i said the book has nothing to do with Cliches, there was no unescessary back and forth between them, the kind that makes you wanna vomit? no there wasn't that.
I felt like any argument or scene that happened was very needed and relatable of some kind.

Nothing pulls on your heart strings like a beautiful second chance romance. They always say that you never get over your first love. Well, for Aria and Wes, fate has their paths cross again and they were given a second chance.

“But every now and then, during some particularly dark moments or late nights, I’d relive our time together. I’d smile, wondering about the girl life seemed to enjoy keeping away from me.”

I loved how this book went back and forth between the past and the present. With every new look we got into Aria and Wes’s past, you can feel the words tugging on your heart as you come to realize the pain that these characters felt during their years of being apart. Their story was beautiful, it was real, and it was amazing.

Quick side note- that drawing scene? Holy hell! Talk about hot beyond belief. I literally needed to fan myself because that was one steamy scene!

And that epilogue though! That was pure magic. Truly. I honestly couldn’t have imagined it ending better than that, I was full on crying happy tears by the time it said “The End”.

This is a wonderful book that is sure to tug on your heart strings, maybe even make you remember your own first love, and it will surely make you fall in love with Aria and Wes’s story. It certainly did for me.

I am all about second chance romance....through in brothers best friend and you have best of both worlds!!!

I LOVED Aria; she was vulnerable but then fierce (which I loved)...she stands by her friends when they can’t speak for themselves. I was moved by her protectiveness of Josh.

Then we meet Wes....oh my!!! HOT doctor alert!!!! I enjoyed how the author gave us the present as well as the past (and didn’t linger in the past).

Then....BOOM! Did not see that twist at all!!!

Falling all over again for The One that got away. Would you give it a chance, or do you believe a past love should remain a past love? The Edge of Forever tells the story of Aria and Weston, who have known each other practically their whole lives. I love them as a couple, and I adore their story.
“I fell in love with Aria Davenport on top of her roof, under the stars. I can’t even pretend that I didn’t.”

Growing up, Aria and Weston live next to each other, and since he’s best friends with her brother, they meet a lot. Over the years their friendship starts to change in something different but given their circumstances they try to keep it not-serious. Fast-forward 10 years… Aria and Weston are living their lives; she as a successful artist, he as a surgeon. Both have been with other people, but both still think about The One that got away from time to time. And now, unexpectedly they get a second chance…
“His proximity is too much. I can’t stand it. I have no idea how to react to it.”

I love Aria and Weston. As a couple, but also as individuals. Aria is a young artist who lives for her painting and stays true to herself. She has some very close friends who know her well, also how she truly felt about Weston. Weston himself is a hardworking surgeon. His career choice has cost him a lot, but this is what he has always wanted. Meeting again is an unsuspected surprise, but giving their love a second change is a whole different story. Aria and Weston have a lot to talk about, not just about their current life and future, but also very much about their past. Luckily this is a romantic story, so you have an idea about the ending.

The Edge of Forever is the second book in the ‘Edge Series’, and I was a bit worried I would miss the background information from book 1. Luckily this was not the case, but I’m curious now for the story of Halle and Jonah. The Edge of Forever is written in a pleasant style and reads easily away. The story is told from a double POV; giving Aria and Weston their own voices, letting the reader see their inner thoughts. I love the realness of this couple. Both are not perfect, both have their insecurities and doubts, but both know real love is worth fighting for.
“Painfully exquisitely perfect. That’s us. And it’s just our start.”

This book was so steamy, and I loved it! If you love reading second chance romances, this relationship will not disappoint.

From the beginning, this book gave me complete Grey’s Anatomy vibes with the male character being a surgeon complete with all the heart throbbing moments! The romance felt captivating and completely pulled me in, and I couldn’t get enough.

The writing style was very easy to fly through, and I literally finished this book in one sitting.. it’s that good! I loved seeing the progression of their steamy connection as they finally collide again so many years later.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to those who love a fun, sexy, irresistible read. I was swooning as the characters fell back in love through the tragedy and suspenseful moments. I really enjoyed every minute of this book, and I hope to pick up another one of J’s books soon!

Such a beautifully crafted story of second chances, layered with cases of reality versus expectations and looking beyond our own perceptions. The flashbacks worked particularly well. Would love to hear more of Josh's story at some stage too. As always, the medical aspects are spot on which makes this nurse's heart happy!

The Edge of Forever is the perfect example of 'the heart wants what it wants.' Ten years ago, Wes was her everything but being her brother's best friend made him off limits. Years later, a chance encounter while visiting a sick friend brings Aria face to face with her past. Time and distance might have separated Aria and Wes, but their souls were destined to be together. J. Saman creates believable characters that are full of angst, chemistry and set my kindle on fire!

Oh, my heart! It's so full from this wonderful story. I fell in love with Wes he is everything anyone would want in a man. This story is a second chance romance with a first love. It has several emotions packed into this beautiful story. J. does not disappoint with her stories they are so refreshing compared to a lot of the same old stories that are out.

Weston is a surgeon and Aria’s brother’s best friend. He was the guy she fell for as a teenager and now he is her best friend’s surgeon. Their story will break you in so many ways but it’s a story that will take you so high you never want to come down.

This is my first time reading J. Saman and I was impressed. After I read the blurb, I was excited because second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes to read.

The story of Wes and Aria was cute and charming. There was an aspect of forbidden romance because Wes was Aria's brothers best friend. They always shared quiet but meaningful moments as they grew up but never thought they would cross that line.

I loved that we get to see them grow through the years with the flashbacks that J. Saman added.

Aria was an innocent, good girl who always knew she wanted to be an artist. She had a supportive family that always helped her follow her dreams. She had a crush on Wes and never thought he would ever see her as anything more than his best friends sister.

Wes is the star athlete that all the girls want. His father has always wanted him to play football in college, but that isn't what he wants. He wants to become a doctor and will do whatever he has to do to fulfill that dream.

Wes and Aria have grown closer over the years and give in to their feelings. They share beautiful moments together, but Wes always leaves.

Years later, they meet in the worst of circumstances. The feelings are still there, but can Aria have her heart broken again by her first love?

Overall, I really thought this was a beautiful second-chance romance. I really loved the characters, Wes and Aria. I wish there was more about their teenage years and a little more depth in the present scenes. But because the plot and overall story was great it doesn't hinder the book from being enjoyable and a 4 star read!

This one needed one more pass through from an editor because there were a lot of grammatical errors and even missing words sometimes.

I also don't LOVE second chance romances, but this one was much better than normal, as the MMC was determined to be good enough for the FMC and wanted to get back together with her eventually vs just sending her off because she was too young like ones I've read before. This one had elements of that, but it was more well done this time because the MMC constantly wanted to fight for her and prove to her that they were meant to be together. I do feel like this could have been maybe 50 pages longer, as there was a LOT going on, but I also feel like it was done well and I felt the emotion and direness of each situation that was happening or had happened. I'm also glad we got glimpses into the past in this one. They helped the present tense sides make sense. I did feel like the wedding/will you marry me was a bit rushed in the actual moment, but it was perfect for the couple, so it was great.

Also, the side gay best friend being in the hospital the entire time and having his boyfriend be the one who beat him was passed over a little too quickly. I would have liked more of an explanation on that one as well, but maybe we will get that in the next few in passing since they are all interconnected.

I feel like J. Saman is one of those authors that makes me want to keep reading no matter what, so I'm glad I'm reading some of her stuff again.

The Edge of Forever- Wes and Aria

Wow…just wow!
Although not required, I would read in order. They are stand alone books but the details flow and continue through each read.

Aria is 6 months out from a relationship with Drew and now he decides he can’t be without her. But Aria does not feel the same way..she has moved on, so to speak. When her BFF Josh gets attacked, she rushes to the hospital. The last person she ever thought she would see again is Wes. Her brother’s best friend, her teenage crush, her first everything, and he is one of Josh’s Doctors…and the one she never stopped loving.

Wes had a difficult childhood. Growing up he constantly was trying to make his dad proud. But nothing he did proved worthy. His dad wanted him to be a football player but Wes wanted to be a Doctor. The girl next door was everything. His best friend’s sister, a secret, too young, too perfect. He knew it wouldn’t work out then so had to let her go. But Wes never forgot Aria and all those feelings come flooding back a decade later when he walks into his patient’s room and there she sits.

Such a good story. My heart hurts for Wes, both from his childhood and the retelling of how he got to be where he is. I don’t want to spoil anything but love the past and the present storyline. You can feel instantly the connection that Wes and Aria have. Love the familiarity. On to the next.
