These books are so fun! This one felt a bit rushed towards the end and was lacking some emotional depth that I felt in the first two. Still a fun time and it’s made me believe that I too could be happy with a six foot tall crochet octopus. I’m very excited for the next book 👀

Cuddly Sex Demon FTW

I’ll be honest with you, this novella is of the 90% smut/10% story variety - just the way we like ‘em. And the smut is H O T. Read at your own risk!

This is the third book in this series about some friends who accidentally performed a love spell and made a deal with Lucifer. They each got their own demon to watch over them, but the catch is the demons inhabit these random crochet creatures.

Fern’s is in incubus inside a giant crochet octopus.

But octopus means tentacles if you know what I’m sayin.

Some third act miscommunication and an HEA round out this novella. Go into this understanding you are going to read about a giant crochet stuffy with a demon inside domming a woman trying to lose her V card. Enjoy the toy play and dirty talk and try not to think about how wet he gets when she…you know 😂

This book seemed a bit half baked. I liked that the 2 main characters had known each other for a while, but we learn almost nothing about their relationship. We barely learn Jax’s personality beyond liking her and liking sex. It had the potential, just needed more investment.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: emotionally unavailable parent, child abandonment (historical), references to hell

2.5⭐️

She’s a virgin pushing 30. He’s her assigned guardian list demon possessing the octopus plushy in her house.

Soulmates, I tell you! Soulmates!!!!

I despise the pet name of “sweetness” tho and it is also overused to high hell. Points deducted for “sweetness”

CW: explicit sexual content, references to parental abandonment, toxic relationship with parental figure

‘Tangled’ is the third instalment in the ‘Yarn and Monsters’ series by Sabrina Cross and, like the previous two, it doesn’t disappoint in being a fun, spicy and quite amusing monster romance novella. Even though this book COULD be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the previous books to understand the plot and characters better.

This story focuses on Fern; the 27 year old virgin FMC who doesn’t believe she is worthy of love & Jax; the lust demon who has been trapped in a crochet yarn octopus stuffed toy and who’s job it is to find Fern her one true love. Little do they know, they might just find what they need with each other.

It’s a cute continuation of the series and tipped with some delicious spice that involves sex toys, lots of tentacles and learning how to embrace one’s desires. And the scenes were HOT! Almost as hot as Jax’s scorching tongue…

This book is light on content warnings, but there are a few mild ones that I will list below just to be safe. Most of these are listed by the author themselves at the beginning of the book.

━━ † ━━

⚔️TRIGGER LIST⚔️

— Explicit sex scenes
— Sex with a sentient stuffed toy
— Mentioned child abandonment & neglect (past)
— Poor family dynamics
— Virgin FMC
— Religious family
— Sensory deprivation (blindfold)
— “Ball” gagging (but with a tentacle)
— Unprotected sex (very brief moment of pregnancy fear)

━━ † ━━

‘Tangled’ is an enjoyable novella that can be devoured in a single sitting that’s a mixture of spicy and sweet as well as being a great continuation the world of ‘Yarns and Monsters’ universe. If you enjoy sentient monster romance, tentacles, a slightly cinnamonroll MMC (who won’t admit it), fated mates, friends to lovers and funny banter, then I would highly recommend this novella! 4/5 stars!!

This was definitely an interesting book, what with all the stuffed animal sex that the reader gets. But you're definitely warned before you even start. "Tangled is a paranormal romance that involves a woman getting it on with a stuffed animal. This book is very weird and is not for everyone." - Direct from Amazon's description. So ... know that this is correct, it's weird as hell, but it's a lighthearted and quick read at only 81 pages. The guy gets the girl and they end up happy. And I'm all for discovering new and weird smut. This fit the bill pretty decently!

Starts out really chill in the beginning ... ya know, with the FMC (Fern) asking her stuffed octopus to fuck her. Gets more normal from here though - the stuffed octopus has been possessed by a lust demon named Jax. He was sent to guide and watch over her after Fern and her friends accidentally made a deal with the devil. Jax keeps watch over her and she (and all her friends) has 6 months left to fall in love, or be sent to Hell. Not a weird beginning in the least.
Fern propositioned her stuffed animal to bang her before running out the door to work and when she gets home from her job, Jax has had a lot of time to think about her statement. As soon as she gets home, Jax is asking why she would want that, especially from him (ya know, a demon). Fern thinks that there isn't a better being for her to lose her virginity to, but he continues to disagree. Once Fern is good and embarrassed and would like to crawl into a hole, Jax acquiesces a bit and determines that Fern needs to get comfortable with herself and know what she likes to make sure that she asks for what she wants from a sexual partner. So obviously, he has Fern masterbate in front of him.
Now - during this encounter, the author states that Jax's expression is intense and that he grinned. Exactly how can a stuffed octopus have an intense expression? Like, I get that he's a sucubus in a stuffed animal's body, but that doesn't mean that the possession would mean that facial expressions would translate. And if they did, I'm not sure that those expressions would come across the same on a stuffed animal. Just some food for thought.

After a sad encounter with her grandma at church and reviewing the negative parts of her life, Fern is feeling very down on herself and unlovable. That leads to Fern asking Jax why he won't touch her and a minor argument to ensue. Jax believes that Fern is worthy of love and perfect, but that he has an awful past and shouldn't be near her. Stuffed octopus form aside. Because, let's be real. Its just ridiculous. Anyway - after poking the bear one too many times, Fern breaks down Jax's defenses and he agrees to fuck her. Or do whatever it is that a stuffed octopus could do that equates to sex. Fern ends up dry humping his face, or the octopus's body. And they have one hell of a sex marathon after that. Might never be able to look at an octopus toy the same ever again. Too many fluids are on this stuffed octopus if you ask me. And since it's crocheted, I'm not sure its ever going to come clean.
Following their fuck fest, Fern wonders if she's starting to catch feelings for the sucubus underneath the yarn creation. But doesn't feel like she's deserving of that love and doesn't want to get hurt hoping that he could be her forever. Then she overhears a conversation that Jax is having with (??) and feels like he wouldn't want someone like her. She spends the next day wallowing in pity and even avoids her apartment (staying overnight with a friend), not wanting to see Jax after overhearing his conversation. When she finally does make it to the apartment, Jax has shed his yarny appendages and is in front of her in his demon form. Jax demands to know answers and how Fern got herself out of her deal with the devil, but Fern knows the truth. She had to find her "love" and has found that with Jax. Ya know, after you fuck a stuffed octopus, you just "know." Obviously. In her embarrassment to get away from Jax, Fern spills the beans and tells Jax that she's fallen in love with him.
Turns out, Jax has been obsessed with Fern for his entire stay with her and has been waiting for her to show interest in him. Once they've both admitted their feelings for one another, it's like a dam breaking and their fuck fest ensues.
I have been pretty understanding and stretched the limitations of what was believable. But a dick that the FMC can't wrap her hand around and her fingers don't touch? And it's bigger than the dildo they had used previously? That shit would split her in half and not figuratively, like literally. All that bullshit about "it'll fit, you were made to take me." HA! My disbelief doesn't suspend that far. At one point, he throws out, "you're so tight." NO SHIT she's tight my dude. Your monster schlong has taken up all the space that her vagina has to give.
The book ends with the couple getting a farmhouse with plenty of land and them walking off into the sunset hand in tentacle, with their HEA.

Instagram told me about this book. It's not often my hobbies of monster smut and crochet come together like this. So next thing I knew I was blazing through this one.

The spice is amazing! Never will any of us be able to look at a crochet octopus the same. Say good bye to innocent craft shows with all those amigurumi artists. Now you will only think of cottony tentacles in interesting places.

It really plays into the miscommunication trope, which I ABHOR... so that knocks the rating down a bunch.

A fun story about a sexual awakening, falling in love with a stuffed toy, and finding love under demonic contract!

This was the book I needed to finish the Yarn and Monster series. I enjoyed the series from beginning to end; these demons undoubtedly became my favorites. In this one, we have Fern and Jax, a giant crocheted octopus who becomes the perfect roommate for Fern, helping her continue to explore her sexuality, as she is a 27-year-old virgin. It features deliciously spicy scenes with the use of various toys, and you'll enjoy every one of them. This book has more smut than the previous ones, so if you’re looking for something like that to read quickly, here’s the story of an incubus inside a giant octopus. And yes, since it's an octopus, you know tentacles are involved.

This is the third installment of the Yarn and Monsters series. Fern is certain she won’t be able to meet the terms of the deal she and her friends unwittingly made. They all have a year to find their one true love. If they don’t, they get a fast track to hell.

She hasn’t had a whole lot of luck in the dating scene, something that hasn’t improved now that she’s on a deadline. The demon assigned to her, Jax, seems wholly uninterested in her aside from reminding her of the deal from time to time. At least that’s what she thinks. Somewhere along the way, Fern decides that if she’s destined to go to Hell, she doesn’t want to die a virgin. Who better to help with that than a sex demon? Nevermind that he’s currently animating a giant crochet octopus. This book is filled with hilarious descriptions of yarn tentacles and a ridiculous ratio of smut to plot. I loved it.

Well, to start with, this is book 3 of the series (Corny, Snuggle, then this). This one has a possessed, erm, octopus stuffy. This book also follows Fern, which is still a part of the group of friends, and based in Michigan, just like the others.

Fern is a good girl, who is also a teacher and a V card holder... meanwhile the octopus is 6ft tall and an incubus.

"If you know half of what I've done, you wouldn't be looking at me with those heart eyes. You'd be running away in fear. So run, little rabbit. Run away and leave the big, bad demon alone."

As someone that also remained a virgin until 27, I loved reading Fern’s book. Her story did have a couple emotional triggers for me such as religious trauma, but I loved to see her work through that and stand up for herself!

The chemistry between her and Jax was excellent. I really enjoyed getting to be part of them getting ~acquainted~ 😂 If you enjoy tentacles and praise, PLEASE read this book.

To be completely honest, I didn’t expect Tangled to affect me so deeply, emotionally speaking. Yet here I am at midnight, empathising with Fern when she says she doesn’t deserve to be loved. Fortunately for her, and for us, Jax is determined to prove her wrong!

Although I loved the first two books in the Yarn & Monsters series, I think Tangled has touched me the most so far. I felt a lot of empathy for Fern, who hasn’t had the best start in life. As for Jax, I loved how much he cared for her, even just through being her friend.

I’m going to finish the series by reading Violet’s story—she’s undoubtedly the character who’s intrigued me the most since the beginning.

You're looking at this and going "haha very funny, Cat. Sentient Object Romance."

I would legit recommend all of this series to ANYONE. Any freaking person. Why? There's depth there. You think you're going in for something light and smutty and with a niche kink, but no. You're getting thoughtful love interests and complex characters in a SMALL FREAKING PACKAGE.

Y'all. I swear. This one made me tear up. I freaking love all of them so far and I can't wait for Violet's book.

Tangled might be my favorite of the series so far! First.....tentacles whether they are yarn or not but second because not only does that first line just get you but the relationship between this human and her demon is so cute!

Fern and Jax are two beings that both don't understand what they need! Also the spicy scenes in this book are on point!!! I love that our sweet little Fern is not as sweet as you think she is and Jax is just oblivious to what is happening!

Sabrina!!! I need the last one asap!!! Please!!!

This one was the 3rd book and one that was good too. Fern has basically given up fully on finding her Prince Charming so to speak as her “dating” life is basically nonexistent. So with that in mind she doesn’t really feel the need to try and find true love, even with the consequences of that decision looming over her head. She does end up with a happy ending but you’ll have to read and find out what that is exactly.

The sweetest of the bunch

Friends to Lovers with a stuffed octopus possessed by a demon is not something I would have thought would be so sweet with a dash of angst.

I appreciated the warnings from the author. Looking forward to the last one of the series.

I didn't want cute and cuddley but I also didnt want demonic demon. I just wanted a multitallented octopus with maybe interchangeable tentacle to toys? I also didnt want a third act breakup up. 🤨

I've changed my mind, this may be my favorite.

CW: this is very erotic; the sex scenes are very graphic, so if that's not your thing, along with crocheted objects turned sex demons, you'll want to pass on this.

Demon romance

this installment was different from the other two and that is something I actually find very unique and I really like about the series. Each one has been a different genre of romance. This particular one is a virgin learning to trust and loving yourself. Romance. Her demon is a grumpy sunshine type of character. I honestly love the male main character. He had me laughing with his grumpiness. This one did have an odd scene. I don't like to do spoilers, but there's a scene that's a misunderstanding between the two characters, but it's never actually explain what actually happened at that time. It just kind of jumps right back into their main storyline like it never happened. I found that quite odd.

I can’t choose a favorite in this series, but this might be it? I loved Fern’s story and who doesn’t love smut with a stuffed octopus? Fern and her demon Jax are so delicious together and this Tangled felt like friends to lovers in the best way. If you need a short, fun read to get you out of a slump, Tangled will help! I don’t know what Sabrina puts in these little novellas, but I’m addicted and obsessed!
