Savage Kilted Highlander: Scottish Hidden Identity Romance

Rate this book
“I’ve nae intention of layin’ a finger on ye just because we share a bed. Unless…” Lady Constance Ashbourne has spent her life as a pawn for rich men. But when she learns the truth about her identity, she seizes her chance to escape England and find her real family.

Unfortunately, her journey ends with a Highland rogue mistaking her for someone else… and taking her hostage.

Bane Graham needs leverage, and kidnapping Laird Kerr’s precious daughter seems like the perfect way to get what he wants. Yet, Constance is everything but the helpless lass he expected. She’s clever, willful, and far too distracting for a man on a mission.

And as it turns out − entirely the wrong woman.

As tempers flare and sparks fly, captivity starts to feel a little too tempting. And from a bargaining chip, Constance becomes the one person who could cost Bane his mission… and his life.

Abducting her was the easy part… resisting her was not.

This is book 9 in Shona’s “Temptation in Tartan” series and one of her best. When an English noble lady’s infidelity with a Scottish Laird produces twin daughters she knows her husband will find out because there’s no twins on either side of their families so the twins are separated at birth with Agnes going to be raised by her real father in Scotland. When Constance overhears what she thinks is her father talking to his friend that she’s not his real daughter and he’s going to marry her to an old Earl who’s old enough to be her grandfather, she wants no part of it. So with the help of her stepbrother and sister, she escapes her stepfather in England and goes to Scotland in search of her real father Laird Kerr. Bane Graham believes that his brother Tav has been kidnapped by Laird Kerr and he’s being held in his dungeons devises of plot to kidnap the Laird’s daughter and hold her in exchange for his brother Tav. When Bane comes across Constance in the forest, he naturally assumes that she is the Laird’s daughter Agnes because no one knows she has a twin sister. They endure many hardships and danger along the way. Bane soon begins to regret kidnapping Constance and putting her in danger as he begins to care for her. This book has a great plot with lots of twists and turns and one you won’t want to put down.

Twenty year-old English Constance Ashbourne is about to be betrothed to George Belton, the Earl of Huntingford who is old enough to be her grandfather. She rails silently about the fact, knowing that she is not truly Lord Ashbourne’s daughter but rather sired by Scottish Laird Ewan Kerr and that she has a twin sister named Agnes who lives with their father. Knowing she must leave to avoid the marriage, she gets help from her brother and sister, determined to find her real father.

Bane Graham is determined to save his older brother who languishes in Lair Kerr’s dungeon, so he devises a plan to kidnap his daughter and make an exchange. And lo and behold, who should fall right into his lap but Lady Agnes herself, or so he thinks until she reveals herself to be the wayward twin Constance, but it does not deter his plan to an exchange, only for a different daughter.

Without giving away too many secrets, suffice to say that what follow is filled with dangerous travels during unforgiving bad weather, intrigue, fierce battle scenes, induced by Lord Ashbourne himself, familial love and devotion, undying commitment, and delicious passion. Kudos to Shona Thompson for penning a compelling tale that takes readers on a trip back to the 16th century England and Scotland where elements were raw and cultures were harsh in many ways for women and the lower class.

Another Shona masterpiece!

I loved this book! The tale of Bane and Constance is filled with adventure, laughter, love, and a bit of danger and is an absolute pleasure to read! Constance heads to Scotland to avoid an unwanted marriage after learning the truth about her parentage. Bane is trying to save his brother, Tav, from Laird Kerr’s clutches and plans to do so by kidnapping his daughter, Agnes. Little does Bane know, Constance is Agnes’s identical twin and it is she he will encounter in the woods outside Laird Kerr’s castle. The adventure that begins is quite the roller coaster ride but the more time they spend together, the closer they get. Feelings begin to grow and truths are shared in their time together. When the time comes to exchange Constance for Tav, it doesn’t go quite the way Bane has planned. It will take all of Constance’s inner strength to save Bane from her true father’s wrath. It is a bit of a tense situation but when Bane ends up saving Constance’s life when the castle is attacked, he gets a second chance to try to keep the woman he has grown to love. Bane will also learn the truth about what has happened to Tav while he’s been gone and it is wonderful to see the two brothers finally together again. Bane will win the favor of Laird Kerr and get the chance to make Constance his bride and it leads them to a very wonderful happily ever after!

A wonderful Scottish tale

A beautiful written story about young lady Constance who was to be married to a very very old man, she runs, she is on a quest to find her real father, and of course to avoid marrying that old man.

Bane is out to save his brother, who has been held captive by Laird Kerr. He will do anything to protect his brother. He wants to find the Lairds' daughter and hold her for ransom. He kidnapps the wrong girl, or did he?

You will have to read to see what danger lurks for Bane and Constance. Family loyalty comes into play, finding out who you are and what you are worth dead or alive. Who will truly win in the end.

It started kinda slow but it quickly turned riveting. I usually can read a book every 2 days but this one was different. I became invested with Bane and Constance. I think I fell in love with her goodness. She is just so beautiful inside a d out. Bane is what every woman wants her other half to be like. Brave, strong, would fight to the death for you. Just love him also. Best book from Ms. Thompson so far. Can't wait until the next one.
