*Over 1.5 Million Views on Royal Road* Trapped in Hell. Marked by a god. Destined to break free.
Jonathan Harlowe is just an ordinary truck driver—until a fatal crash hurls him into Telvaria, a brutal world forged by endless strife and ruled by warring gods. Chosen by the exiled deity Sarnakthros, Jonathan is reborn as an Outsider, blessed with limitless leveling potential but cursed with impossible odds.
Immediately doomed to the Infinite Hells, a nightmare realm where the damned are twisted into monsters, Jonathan has only one survive or be consumed. Every battle sharpens his skills. Every kill fuels his ascension. But as he carves a bloody path through ash-choked wastelands and nightmarish beasts, he realizes his journey is more than just survival.
It's war.
To escape the Hells, Jonathan must conquer the Nine Circles, defeat monstrous tyrants, and rise beyond mortal limits. But freedom comes at a cost—and the gods themselves will stand in his way.
World building is interesting if not, somewhat static, MC is boring, a one trick pony.
I personally do not like books that have a MC who is a one trick pony. Brawlers usually are just that. This character needs some sort of weapon to back up his brawler style. The second issue with this book is fighting crawling up animals bodies while your legs, arms and ribs are broken. That’s a lot of junk. Just doesn’t happen. At least if the MC has instant heel I could possibly believe what he puts his body through and that he’s able to obtain such treats. There are other books, whether there are brawl or characters or battle healers, and they instantly healed themselves while fighting. This situation with this MC takes me out of the story yes I know it’s RPG but really nobody’s gonna fight with broken bones cracked ribs, broken arms, legs, ECT. Please please give the MC some sort of instant healing capability. Maybe then I would consider reading the next book but right now. I think this is it for me.
This book showed promise in the first few chapters but quickly ran out of steam and became stale and repetitive.
It was mostly none stop action which wouldn’t be a problem if they all didn’t play out exactly the same.
Jonathan punches bad guy. If bad guy doesn’t die Jonathan runs away. If bad guy catches Jonathan he uses smite or uses his free points.
There was a small few variations of this but the majority was the main character just running from A to B never really making it to B and having to fight.
I liked the overall premise and theme but I think it could have been given a bit more variety or skip the monotonous fight scenes completely in a time skip.
This book is one of the types that has almost NO opportunities to breathe between action scenes. I don't recommend binge reading this book as it is quite tiring without a chance to relax between fight scenes.
Not sure what the relationship is between our hero and his sidekick; obviously friends but there seems to be an interesting bromance happening.
Anyway, the story is fast paced but slow going. Have fun!
This book started out well, but rapidly began repeating itself. It started well, with good world building, but started to get repetitive. I don't really like dungeons inside dungeons, but whatever. Then MC meets his bromance and they run the same dungeon over again with very similar monsters.
I gave up at 85% and skimmed pretty hard to get that far.
This book was a fun read, but it runs to the dark side. That might bother some readers, so just consider this a warning. I'm looking forward to the next one.
One of the more interesting LitRPG stories I've read. This first book is the usual, amassing skills and levels, but the protagonist is relatable. I will definitely read the next one.
