Ticket to the Stars: Part One

Rate this book
One small-town girl. Three sexy rock stars. One instant ticket to stardom.

When Black Sacrament holds a contest to replace their disgraced singer, college-bound Maggie Stiefer is shocked to win—mostly because she never sent in an audition tape. Her younger sister did. Becoming Black Sacrament’s Angel is not something she’d ever thought she’d do, but the opportunity is too good to pass up.

Priest, Bishop, and Deacon aren’t given a choice in their new member, but before they’re introduced to her, they’re given one their new angel is off-limits. The flirty Priest isn’t the only one who tries to push those limits; the gentle Bishop and enigmatic Deacon aren’t far behind.

Maggie soon learns that each of them have their own distinct personality, but at the end of the day, they’re rock stars, and rock stars aren’t her type… even if they are drop-dead gorgeous, especially when they’re dressed for the stage with their masks on.

The only problem is that, in order to become their angel, she’ll have to live with them, do shows with them, spend every waking hour with the band—and the more time she spends with them, the closer they become.

Protecting herself and her heart from these rock stars might not be as easy as she first thought.

Ticket to the Stars will be a RH/WC duet.

Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.

Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!

If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.

Happy reading!

🎶 “I'm unusual. Not so typical. Way too smart to be waiting around (Yeah)” 🎶

When Maggie Stiefer (h) is unexpectedly chosen as the new lead singer for Black Sacrament—a job she never even auditioned for—she’s thrust into the chaotic world of rock stardom. Living and touring with Priest, Bishop, and Deacon means nonstop rehearsals, late nights, and undeniable temptation, especially when each masked rock star chips away at her defenses in his own way. They’ve been told she’s off-limits, but boundaries blur as chemistry ignites.

[Priest]

“Ramona says lots of things. Sometimes, it’s more fun being the rebel. I bet you’re a rebel, aren’t you?”

“I’m not, actually. I like rules, and I think you need to give me space. I don’t know you, Priest, and I don’t want your hands all over me, okay?”

He is the first one who meets her, the first one who kisses her, and he is very much the flirty, charismatic guy in the band that girls naturally flock to. He claims not to like Angel because she has never been kissed before and has no experience, but the truth is that he is openly interested in her. He hides it from the others so they will not be bothered, but then he still kisses her in public, which of course now needs damage control.

[Bishop]

“Hey,” he spoke with a tentative smile. “I’m Bishop. It’s nice to finally meet you, Angel.”

These two actually know each other from childhood, though neither said anything at first. Both are upset that the other does not remember. It creates a lot of miscommunication, but at the same time Bishop is the sweetest of the group. He is gentle, kind, and treats her like a friend and confidant—exactly what she needed when the others were not being welcoming. He is definitely the sweetheart of the band.

[Deacon]

“I hope you don’t think I’m here to take your brother’s place. I can tell this was a brotherhood. I… I know you probably won’t ever like me, but I promise I won’t be here forever. Just until my contract with Ramona is up, and then it’ll be like I was never here.”

He is upset because his brother got kicked out of the band and Angel replaced him. Angel makes it clear that she is not here to take anyone’s place, only to fulfill her contract. Over time, they find some sort of middle ground and understanding. He realizes she does not want to erase Pope’s role, only to work hard for the sake of her family.

Is Angel a bit of a pick-me? Maybe. Was it entertaining? EH. I will probably be reading the next book just because I want to see where this goes in terms of plot. Will Pope come back? What is the real deal behind the band? So far it feels like the focus has been on the band’s development and her slowly getting to know the members since she joined halfway through. I just do not know where it is going yet. I am curious to see the purpose.

‘Let’s just say’
‘Chicks’
‘That’s/it’s our thing’
‘…not my type.’
I cannot with these phrases any more.
*groan* ugh
I’m just over this whole book honestly.
Those phrases were repeated so many times my brain started to jumble all of them together.
And unfortunately I didn’t like any of the characters except Cleo, who’s only a side character and 10, with like 3 pages of interaction max.
It’s so repetitive it hurt, the whole ‘can’t use our names, even when it’s just us’ is stupid and feels like it’s totally defeating the purpose of why bands like Sleep Token(who seems to be the inspiration here) do this kind of thing, and the characters themselves are just not very likable. They’re all really emotionally volatile and kinda dumb, which I guess is just their age being pretty well represented but I’m not into it.
I’m just glad there wasn’t any spice in this book because I don’t think any of them fit very well with each other.
Im not gonna be reading the second book.
Sorry, but I don’t think these characters really deserve a HEA with each other and I’d rather leave it like this in my head.
Plus if I have to read ‘let’s just say’ one more time I think I might actually lose my mind.

I really tried to finish this book, but I was not interested in the story or the characters. It was all very bland, and I was skipping more pages than I was reading.

The plot was quite ridiculous. I am not in the music industry, but I am quite positive that things don't work this way.

All main characters sounded the same - boring, immature, foolish.

Oh my freaking god. I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK. I’m so glad that I’m just now reading it though because I can’t imagine having to wait more than 4 days for the second one. Those 4 days are going to be hell enough. I haven’t read a rockstar romance in a bit and apparently I needed one because good lord this was amazing. It’s definitely your stereotypical “girl can sing and wins a contest to be in a band with boys” storyline but the way Candace writes is just *chefs kiss*. Like I said in my review for another of her books just a bit ago, I would read a whole novel of nonsense if she wrote it. Angel/Maggie is awesome and I love the guys so much. I immediately need book two and all of the spice.

Ah! I love Maggie so much!!! This book was great, I absolutely loved it! I can't wait for Part Two! There was intrigue, suspense, passion, and sass! My heart ached for Deacon, and I hope Angel can help him find himself again!

if you love why choose romance with a masked band rockstar vibe, this one's for you. while more of a slow burn, the buildup between characters was so good. I absolutely devoured this and cannot wait for the second half of this duet!

This is definitely different and I like it. I'm enjoying the slow burn of the group being built along with the slow burn of the band. I really like Angel and all the guys

I need them all to be older. The chemistry was rushed and it felt like love bombing. I oddly like Deacon the most.

I read this duet a little under 2 weeks ago and I remember almost nothing about it. So while it was an ok read, it could not have been all that great if I don't remember much about it
