A page-turner for sure! This gothic romantasy featured a FMC that gives off Elizabeth Swan vibes and a golden retriever MMC. Dulce has such fun banter and conversation. I love being inside her head! The story was fun and something completely new! There were a few twists I never saw coming, and I was pleasantly surprised. If you want a romantasy that's more cozy and less daunting, this one is perfect!

Spice : 🌶️.5
Tropes : Slow burn, fated lovers, revenge, opposites attract.
Vibes : Alchemy, poisons, witches, cursed land, gothic fantasy.

This book had such a unique vibe and I ate up every second of it!

I really enjoyed the alchemy element of the magic system, and how things were explained in a way that was detailed but easy to understand. I also loved the use of poisons and wish this had been leaned into a little bit more since there was a lot of fantastic set up and potential. Right off the bat Dulce is poisoned by her husband in an attempt to take her life, but thanks to her mother's teachings she's built up a resistance and this thankfully saves her life! I don't think any further poison attempts were made after this however.

The romantic tension and build up between Dulce and Reed was really enjoyable. They both had this air of innocence, and I loved seeing them slowly grow bolder with their flirting, testing the waters to see if the other returned their feelings. I thought the love at first sight vibe was very well done, and it's explained by a fortune that Dulce receives that perfectly matches Reed, this added a nice reasoning behind their quick attraction to one another.

There are a handful of spicy scenes, but they're fairly brief and not overly explicit. So if you're not a huge fan of spice, you could easily skip those without missing anything major from the plot!

I would have loved if parts of the second half were expanded just a little bit more. There's quite a lot that happens, and at times I did get a little bit lost in the busier scenes and had to re-read a couple to make sure I fully followed along with the action. But overall this was a really enjoyable and atmospheric read that I definitely recommend for lovers of gothic vibes, magic, witches, and revenge!

Thank you so much for the ARC!

This was a creative corpse bride style retelling, with witchcraft, dark magic, mystery, revenge, and an unexpected romance. Dulce is a wealthy heiress and new bride, excited and nervous for her wedding night with her new husband, but she didn't anticipate he would poison her and she would wake up in her own grave.
Reed is desperate to save his brother and upon hearing of a newlywed heiresses death decides to visit her grave and steal her jewellery, but he didn't anticipate finding a living woman inside the coffin.
Out for justice Dulce has some tricks up her sleeve and uses her magic to get revenge on her murderous husband, while Reed is on the run wanted for grave robbery.
They must work together to find a deadly witch, stop a dark magic curse, and evade the law, all while in disguise.
This is a quirky gothic Cottagecore romantasy, with magic, adventure and a slow burn romance.

This was so fun. I loved Dulce and Reed so much. Their humor despite all they were going through was everything, and I was definitely staying up way too late reading this to see what happened next on their journey. This was such a unique world, and I loved all the dark and twisty elements. So much happened, and there were definitely things that I did not see coming. I would love a whole series with these characters but will be content to read this over and again.

✨Arc Review✨
Thank you to the author @Candace Robinson for sending me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
-All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I fell hard for Poison Nights & Twilight Alchemy. What begins as a heartrendingly elegant wedding night turns into something altogether unexpected—a journey through betrayal, mystery, and a love that heals both grief and guilt.
I fell hard for Poison Nights & Twilight Alchemy. What begins as a breathtakingly elegant wedding night turns into something altogether unexpected—a journey through betrayal, mystery, and a love that heals both grief and guilt.

From the moment Dulce Bancroft collapses, poisoned on her wedding night, I felt her horror and heartbreak in my veins. The vivid gothic imagery—obsidian gardens, moonlit manors, lavender‑tinged tea—were hauntingly beautiful, setting the perfect stage for a romance as unconventional as it is mesmerizing!

Dulce and Reed are not your usual romantic pair. She's elegance, wilting beneath the weight of betrayal. He’s desperation in human form, rough-edged and reckless. But in their shared loneliness, they find something rare—recognition. They are two souls scarred by different ghosts, stumbling toward one another in a world that has only taken from them.

Their romance is the kind I ache for: slow, fragile, and utterly impossible. It reminded me of Corpse Bride—not just for the gothic beauty or the moonlit melancholy, but for that aching question:
“Can something born in death still bloom with life?”

And with every careful touch, every whisper in the dark, the answer becomes yes. Their love blooms not despite the poison, but because of it. Because of the damage. Because of the need to belong to someone who understands.

The setting only deepens the feeling: candlelit halls, blood-red gowns, an opera echoing through dusk, vials of magic that taste like grief. I felt like I was walking through a haunted garden—everything beautiful, but edged with danger.

By the end, I was holding my breath. Not for the mystery, though that unfolds beautifully, but for the hope that these two broken hearts might finally find peace—not perfection, just peace. And maybe, in each other, a future the world told them they couldn’t have.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️

Candice Robinson and SGD Singh have co-authored a wonderful book full of unique vibes and fun magic. The alchemy magic system was done so well and it was evident both authors did a lot of research to understand how alchemy is used. It was easy to understand yet drenched in authenticity. The fantasy elements tied it all together that made this book easy to love and become immersed in.

Dulce survives being poisoned by her husband, which thanks to her mother’s teachings, she’s built up a resistance to. This saves her life, but definitely sets the tone up for our FMC and her journey. When she wakes up in her own grave, she isn’t sure how she would survive being buried alive, essentially. Thankfully a grave robber digs her up, although scaring himself.

Reed thinks he was going to take an heiress’ jewelry, but he wasn’t expecting her to be alive with the jewelry. He needs money to save his brother, but is now on the run. Dulce agrees to help him and her magical abilities come in handy. As these two work together to get back at Dulce’s scheming husband and hopefully save Reed’s brother.

Along the way, we get pulled into adventure with our MCs journey’s becoming entwined. This book contained longer chapters which allowed a deeper dive into the inner workings of the characters. I really enjoyed the second book in the Enchanted Woods Cottagecore collection. Bringing multiple authors together to give us 11 books means we are in for a fun ride. Book 1 and 2 have set the bar high.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

This is a sweet, gothic fantasy in which we meet Dulce, an heiress witch who is poisoned by her husband on her wedding night, and Reed, a pauper who intends on her robbing her jewellery from her grave in order to pay for the cure for his brother's illness. Upon opening her grave, he discovers that Dulce has in fact survived, and she sends him away with her jewellery, with the request that he doesn't let anyone know she's alive. Before long, it becomes clear that a witch called La Bisou Morte has put a curse on the land, which unless stopped, will cause all to perish. Dulce and Reed must team up to stop that from happening.

The world building in this is really lovely, the imagery is clear and vivid, and both main characters are endearing and strongly portrayed. The story feels a little rushed in places. Each short chapter provides another peril point, and I would have liked some more time spent on building up to them, rather than feeling like lurching from one crisis to another. I was so close to giving this four stars, until the ending. I don't want to give away spoilers, but the way the main characters return home after their triumph is so at odds with the rest of the story, it jars and feels like it was used as a method to end the book, when their return journey could have been enacted off page without being so off-brand. Overall though, it was an enjoyable read.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book!

Poison Nights & Twilight Alchemy by Candace Robinson and S.G.D. Singh is a mix of sweet, clever, and a dollop of spice!

We begin with Dulce, an heiress on her way home from her wedding to the most eligible bachelor in all of Moonglade. As she is remembering the passing of her parents, her husband prepares their tea. Upon her first sip, she recognizes the poison and dies with him literally stepping on her back.

We are then introduced to Reed. An absolute nobody, beyond poor, with a dying brother he will do anything to save. Including robbing the grave of a dead heiress for her jewels. As soon as Reed opened the coffin he was dumbfounded by how beautiful Dulce was. As he was committing the act of robbing her grave, he unknowingly saves her life!

Turns out, Dulce is not just an heiress but a powerful witch who had given up her magic after her mother's passing. Her mother had also been preparing her for unforeseen circumstances her entire life. Even building up a tolerance to poisons.

The two unlikely companions are then forced on a journey to, quite literally, save the world. They rely on each other's different talents. Dulce with alchemy and Reed with his grit and attitude.

The characters are lovable and clever. Their journey is hard and dangerous but their individual talents save them. The journey is a bit quicker than I would have liked, it seemed to end too quickly! I would love to have seen more of these two together.  But the story is solid and keeps the reader engaged.

Poison Nights & Twilight Alchemy is a charmingly gothic, fairytale-inspired fantasy that blends whimsy, romance, and a touch of the macabre in a way that really works.

The story opens with Dulce Bancroft, a seemingly perfect village belle with wealth, beauty, and a new husband—until she’s poisoned on her wedding night. Cue Reed Hawthorn, a desperate young man from the slums who gets tangled up in Dulce’s fate when he sets out to rob her grave. From there, the plot blooms into a magical, heartfelt adventure filled with unexpected twists and sweet character moments.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Dulce and Reed. The characters were cute together—quirky in their own ways, but grounded enough to root for. The romance never felt overdone, and their growth as individuals gave the story emotional weight beyond just the romance.

The setting, too, deserves a mention: moody forests, quiet villages, and magical undertones give the whole book a cozy yet eerie vibe. It’s very much in that cottagecore-gothic sweet spot.

While the story wasn’t flawless—it didn’t quite hit that unforgettable five-star mark for me—it was thoroughly enjoyable and well worth the read. I’d call this a solid 4-star book: atmospheric, sweetly romantic, and with just the right amount of dark fairy tale charm. Definitely recommend for fans of whimsical fantasy with a darker edge.

4 well that escalated quickly out of 5

I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Poison Nights and Twilight Alchemy follows Dulce, a refined heiress who marries Cornelius, the town’s most eligible bachelor. What should’ve been the happiest night turns into a most unfortunate circumstance when Cornelius poisons her on their wedding night.
On the other side of town, Reed, a poor but kind-hearted man willing to do anything for his brother, decides to rob Dulce’s grave for her jewels, only to discover she’s still alive!
As fate draws them together, Dulce and Reed must rely on each other to break a curse that threatens their home.

I loved both main characters in this book! Dulce is such an intelligent and kind FMC, while Reed is so loyal and funny. He is basically the kind of guy you want to be stuck on a quest with! I really enjoyed their romance, their undeniable attraction and flirtation had me giggling 🤭

I finished this book so quickly! It was sooo good! The authors did such an amazing job bringing the story and characters to life. The plot was beautifully written, it has mystery, magic and well paced storytelling. The story had that cozy, cottagecore romantasy vibes that I’m really starting to love.

If you enjoy cozy romantasy with loveable characters, adventure, and alchemy magic, this one is a must read! 💖

Dearest Unhinged Reader,

I devoured Poison Nights and Twilight Alchemy in one sitting, like a peasant waif handed her first slice of bread. This book is a stunning, spell-soaked blend of gothic atmosphere and cozy cottagecore charm that is if cottagecore came with curses, graves, and the kind of banter that makes your heart do somersaults. And in this book it defiantly does.

Let’s talk about Reed. The man is the softest of cinnamon rolls wrapped in a the moth eaten cloak of a pauper. If green flags were a person, it would be him—respectful, selfless, a little ornery, and entirely swoon-worthy. He’s the kind of romantic lead that makes you want to scream into a pillow and kick your feet.

The story itself feels like an enchanted fairytale. It’s rags to riches, fake relationship “my wife”, fated lovers, and opposites attract—with a plot that kicks off when our heroine is BURIED ALIVE ON HER WEDDING NIGHT and saved by a dashing sweetheart of a grave robber, because of course.

This is the second book in The Enchanted Woods Cottagecore collected and this collection continues to deliver on unhinged premises wrapped in lush prose and layered emotion. It’s romantic, a little wild, and exactly the kind of book you stay up too late to finish. Highly recommend, 10/10 would be buried and resurrected again.

With admiration and dirt-stained wedding dresses,

This ARC was requested and received in exchange for an honest review.

Poison Nights and Twilight Alchemy was a delightfully dark cottagecore novel. The world was fantastically developed. It was Ghibli-esque in it's descriptions of scenery, outfits, and food. I absolutely wanted to visit the festival and the opera in the story. The side characters were fun too. There are definitely darker elements to this story, but they balance out well with the whimsical.

Dulce & Reed's chemistry is wonderful and shines through the story. I thoroughly appreciated their witty banter throughout their journey. I felt like their relationship is well-built, and not rushed. There was just the right touch of spice, and it felt well-earned. They both felt like fleshed out characters, with their own lives and motivations outside of the romance. I'd honestly want to see more stories with them in it!

The magic and alchemy system was interesting - I liked seeing Dulce come up with creative options to use it. And the action scenes were wonderful to read! Cunning was used more often than brute force, and I adore that type of action.

This was absolutely what I needed to read right now, and I highly recommend trying it out.

?/5 stars = 4

What drew me in? = I’m a mood reader, and my latest mood has been cottage core, fantasy, and anything Gaslamp. This was all that, plus magic, murder, a traveling adventure, and adorable romance.

What took me out if the story? = Nothing of note. Story was believable and nothing came across as “wait, why would that happen in this world?”

Spice? =A few scenes, open door. We knew what was happening without super explicit details (aka tastefully done, adds to the story)

Literal best part = Dulce being a straight badass with her spells, potions, and drive to save her Mother’s tree

Cliffhanger or complete? = Complete. The whole story wrapped up beautifully.

Would I re-read = Sure, again – I’m a mood reader, so it depends on what direction the wind is blowing that day.

Love for the author(s): As the first book I am reading from Candace and SGD, I will absolutely be reading more from their catalogs

I did receive an ARC of this book, but all opinions are my own.

This is the second book I have read in The Enchanted Woods Cottagecore series andhonestly im obsessed! I was so invested In this book after just afew chapters.

Dulce (a witch) became a bride burried alive on her wedding night by her new husband only to be accidently rescued by a grave robber - Reed. Reed is a poor man struggling to keep food on the table whilst also fighting to save his brother from illness. This very unlikey duo befriend eachother, teaming up to start putting their wrongs right ending up in a quest to save the entire world from being turned into stone.

I really enjoyed everything about this book! I quickly came to love Dulce and Reed and their relationship with eachother. I loved the magical elements, witchcraft, romance and revenge.
The only downside in my opinion is that the book was over to soon, i would have loved a few more chapters on Dulce and Reeds life together after they had completed their quest!

All in all a fantastic read!

This is a cute little cottagecore romantasy in which Dulce, an heiress and witch, is poisoned on her wedding night by her new husband. Reed is a poor man, trying to make money to save his brother from an illness. Upon attempting to rob Dulce’s grave to steal her jewelry, Reed discovers that Dulce is, in fact, alive. After a little revenge on Dulce’s part, it is soon discovered that a terrible curse is put on the lands by an evil witch. Dulce and Reed must team up to save their world from the witch’s curse and restore the lands.

I loved the world-building in this book and it’s a fun, slow burn romance. My biggest issue was the ending. It felt a little rushed to wrap things up, where I feel like their return home and subsequent HEA could have been drawn out and build upon more. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable read!

Poison Nights & Twilight Alchemy

Witchcraft and death. A young woman surviving her murder only to realise that she has to save the world.

Dulce had let her powers go after her mother's death but surviving her own death showed her that she had a mission and she was helped by the man who saved her.

Reed didn't believe in magic until he was face to face with it. And what a beautiful face it was.

During their quest to save the world, Dulce and Reed have to survive whilst coming to terms with their feelings for each other.

Such a well written story and such a beautiful world that they are in. You are brought along on their quest, seeing all the strange and wonderful creatures and people.

This was such a great read. Well done Candace Robinson & SGD Singh. You could not tell that this book had two authors, their words flowed so effortlessly.

Poison Nights and Twilight Alchemy was fantastic! It's a cozy gothic story, sorta like corpse bride, sorta not. Dulce is an heiress and a witch that gets poisoned by her new husband on their wedding night. Reed is a poor "swamp rat", like he calls himself, that's trying everything he can to earn enough money to save his very sick brother and to pay rent. He hears of the new brides death and starts out to rob her of her jewels. But not all is what it seems. Dulce and Reed head out on an adventure together to find the witch, La Bisou Morte, who harmed the Tree of Life (1 of 5) that's at her estate and will eventually kill everything in the world. The humor, banter, sarcasm and chemistry make this read fantastic. It has a great plot and storyline. This, for me, was a terrific read!

Thank you very much to both authors for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.

My rating is 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed the world building of this book, its details really colorful. I liked how the relationship between the two main characters progressed and their overall character arcs and I loved the use of alchemy and the potions.

I really liked that there was many action scenes, but most of them felt so rush, without no to little build up. Especially the last important scene, that was over so quickly and it left a bitter taste for me, because we are told who the villain (the actual one) is, also how powerful the villain is. And they were able to get it over so quickly.

But despite that many action scenes, I felt like it was dragging, and I had a problem with finishing it, because from the normal fantasy books I read and where the tension is present at all times, I felt like the built tension in this book could have been more portrayed and build up on.

If I remember correctly, if only one important thing (not gonna spoil, but iykyk) is turned into stone, which has already happened, the world is lost. Why aren´t we seeing the aftermath of that, if that´s what the MCs are trying to reverse?

And the ending, it´s just so rushed. After what the authors had build during the whole book, I would have expected something, at least a bit more epic than what we got.

This was such a fun, cozy romantasy with just the right blend of charm, danger, and magic! The story begins with a dramatic twist—a bride poisoned on her wedding night—and takes an unexpected turn when she’s rescued by a grave robber trying to save his dying brother. From there, things spiral into a magical escape, an unexpected partnership, and an adventure full of wild forests, enchanted secrets, and slow-burn romance.

It’s not a heavy read, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s fast-paced, heartwarming, and perfect for when you want something that feels like a fairy tale with a bit of bite. I only docked a star because some twists felt a little predictable, but honestly? I didn’t mind. I was too busy enjoying the ride.

Book 2 of a themed collection (which means you can read them in any order without having to worry about story cohesiveness). This one took elements of the Corpse Bride and blended them with an epic quest and two mourning orphans.

I loved the little details of this book that made the world seem real, the different places that the characters traveled through that had their own memorable parts, and the relationships between everyone. It was nice to have the perspectives of both main characters, and I thoroughly enjoy this book.

One I will likely return to in the future as I honestly hated leaving the world these authors built.

I was given this book free to review! Let me just say it was really good the world building and the characters a yes!!!! I actually love Reed our MMC. His and Dulce’s(MFC) meeting actually cracked me up. It was a quick read for me. I have never read anything from this author before but I’m pleased to announce she has a new avid reader. I will say there is a certain part at the end that I don’t want to give away but it took away from the book for me. It felt as if it didn’t fit in the world that this book was created in. Hope this helps ❤️

I adored this book, it had some of the best flirtatious sweet moment ever. This was just the most amazing and unexpected beginnings to a book. The story starts off with FMC's wedding night and her new hubby poisons her and buries her and everything but luckily and grave rob comes to get the jewels and saves her. I cackled at this. This book way absolutely entertaining with all the flirting but with the best of slow burns, they were the cutest. I would read the book again and again, it was just that good.

I really wanted to like this book, but it fell flat for me. The biggest issue was the lack of real stakes. Nothing ever felt urgent or consequential, which made it hard to stay invested. The plot moved quickly, but it felt rushed rather than engaging.
The character dynamics also did not work for me. The main character trusts the MMC far too easily, which made the story feel unrealistic and reduced any sense of tension. Overall, the tone came across as more childish than expected.
There were some interesting ideas, but they were not developed enough to make the story memorable.

I received a free digital copy of this novel through a Stuff Your Kindle event.

This was such a delightfully fun, sweet, and steamy story. You can never go wrong with a moody, witchy romance full of adventure, magic and dark creatures!

I adored the FMC and MMC. Dulse had a great witchy, Gothic video I loved. The roguish Reed was down to earth, charming and brave. The chemistry between these two was wonderful; full of great banter. The novel contained only the tiniest amount of open-doir spice, but the romance was heartwarming.

This was such a fantastic read!!

I loved this cottage core series Novel! Poison nights and twilight academy was written so beautifully,
I really enjoyed the dark yet sweet adventure, dulce was such a humble yet strong character! And Reed was such a sweet man who stood by her side from the very beginning. I even enjoyed the eerie parts that were kinda spooky reading in bed at night.
I definitely recommend grabbing a copy of this cute yet venomous book 📚
