The first book in a new series featuring ‘new boot’ Los Angeles police officer Cassidy Clark. Her father, a veteran detective, is about to retire at the same time as she’s beginning her career. One in, one out. As it happens, Cassidy quickly gets drawn into a case involving a series of gruesome murders of women in the city, despite having no experience whatsoever.

There’s good and bad here. The good involves an interesting case, one in which we get to follow both the perpetrators and the various cops involved in the investigation. The characters are generally well drawn, and the dialogue is a strong element here, too. In fact, the story of the Hollywood Hit Men chase is a good one. It’s the backbone of the book. But then there’s the not so good.

The main story is diluted by a whole series of other elements that largely distract and confuse the main narrative. There’s Cassidy’s father and some mental health challenges he’s facing, a friend who’s suffered life changing injuries and is considering ending her life and various sub-stories involving an ex-girlfriend of her father. The list goes on. In truth, I found most of these threads to be simply an unwanted distraction.

In the end, everything is wound up in a series of unlikely happenings and decisions. It's a pretty unsatisfactory way of bringing it all to an end, in my view. One element, having been raised early on, is never returned to. I presume this is being held over for the next book in this series. It’s all really a mixed bag, and that's a bit of a pity given the fact that the main character and most of the supporting cast are people I’d be keen to meet up with again.

My thanks to Thomas & Mercer for supplying a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hollywood Hit Men is the first book in the Cassidy Clark Series. It's a police procedural set in Los Angeles, focusing on a father, who is retiring from the LAPD, just as his daughter, who is a "boot" (rookie) is just starting her career. A series of murders targeting young women is plaguing the city, which the media has dubbed the "Hollywood Hit Men" case.

I didn't enjoy reading Hollywood Hit Men, like I thought I would. I think it was just too dark and depressing for me. The descriptions of rapes, abuses, and murders were too descriptive for me. I liked Cassidy, but her father's battles with mental illness/CTE, and his conviction that he was going to become the "Cold Case Closer" were difficult to read about. Bill was positive he was going to be a hero, yet he was behaving like a criminal.

I will say that Hollywood Hit Men ended on a fairly positive note, but getting there was a slog through a lot of darkness for me. However! I may turn out to be an outlier with my review. There's undoubtedly a niche for this type of book. It just wasn't MY niche.

Thanks to #ThomasAndMercer for providing this book for review and consideration via #NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Hollywood Hit Men has an expected publication date of November 11, 2025.

As a fan of Michele Dominguez Greene's Agent Emily Ray series I couldn't wait to dig into her new Cassidy Clark series. I wasn't disappointed. Michele Dominguez Greene writes fast paced thrillers with strong female protagonists. The title character doesn't just solve murder mysteries, which she does, but she also has to deal with all the misogyny associated with being a strong woman in a male dominated role. Both series I've read by this author deal with the daily struggles of women who encounter male and female colleagues who are supportive and those who are antagonistic or resentful. How they navigate these landmines is some of the most intriguing parts of these thrillers. Highly recommended as are the Agent Emily Ray series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advanced reader copy.

Billed as a “gritty police procedural,” Hollywood Hitman: A Thriller by Michele Domínguez Greene is not at all gritty or much of a police procedural if you have read a lot of police procedurals and crime fiction. This first book in the Cassidy Clarke series, is more a cozy style mystery with a lot of relationship drama than an actual police procedural.

As the book opens, Cassidy Clarke is a new boot in the LAPD and about to work her first day. She is looking forward to the fact that she will be assigned a patrol partner and a beat. She lives with her father, Bill Clarke, a legendary homicide detective who is about to go through his last day on the job. After 41 years with the LAPD, and with cognitive issues becoming more apparent to Cassidy and others, he is retiring. Cassidy worries as the job is all her divorced father has and he has no plans for the future to occupy his time.

Despite the Fact that it is his last day, Bill and his partner, Pete Barrera, are sent out to a crime scene that appears to be the latest work in a string of killings. This is the third killing in five weeks that appears to be linked to the same killers. Each of the female victims has been strangled, posed afterwards, and left with a small lipstick heart on a cheek.

While Bill and his partner go about their work, Watch Commander Steven Kriss puts Cassidy to work with five-year veteran Sean Riley for their first patrol in Hollywood. He has worked with her dad before and she is glad to be paired up with him. But, her time on patrol is short lived as she is soon involved in the serial killers case more than her father ever was. A father who isn’t happy being frozen out of the investigation and decides to work various cold cases all on his own.

While the vast majority of the characters are cops, and the police station is the setting for numerous scenes, the actual police procedural aspects of the read are few and far between. This is more of a cozy style mystery read with a lot of personal drama mixed in to the story. Cassidy is dealing with a father who is having serious and worsening cognitive issues, the perception of other officers of her, a childhood friendship forever changed due to a horrific family tragedy, and her own internalized fears regarding all of that as well as her relationship with her boyfriend that leaves a lot to be desired.

The result is a read heavy on feelings and relationship dramas. It simply does not have much of what an experienced reader expects to come across in a police procedural.

That being said, for what it actually is, the read is a good book. There are numerous interesting characters, conflicts, plenty of drama, and well as several strong mystery elements. If you read Hollywood Hitman: A Thriller by Michele Domínguez Greene for what it is, as opposed to the expectations created by the marketing, you will find an entertainingly good read worth your time.

My digital ARC came by way of the publisher, Thomas & Mercer, by way of NetGalley, with no expectation of a positive review. The second book in the series, The Lost Angels: A Thriller, currently has a late April 2026 publication date on Amazon.

Solid 3.75-4 Stars! To preface - I'm incredibly stingy and picky when it comes to thrillers!

Don’t let the title fool you—I actually hate it, and if I hadn’t read the synopsis, I probably would’ve skipped this book altogether. I’m a huge fan of Michael Connelly—Harry Bosch, Mickey Haller, and Renée Ballard are among my favorites—and this story gave me similar vibes. While there are definite echoes of Connelly’s work, the writing style in particular reminded me most of Renée Ballard’s perspective.

Michele Domínguez Greene has crafted a story that plays out like a film—you don’t just read it, you experience it. I felt like I was right there alongside the characters. The plot is fresh, gritty, and full of heart, and the characters are unforgettable—they leap off the page with energy and personality. Knowing this is the start of a series makes me excited to see how these characters continue to develop. The result is a crime thriller that’s as clever as it is gripping—a high-stakes, unputdownable ride.

Fans of classic police procedurals, courtroom dramas (think Steve Cavanagh, Michael Connelly, or James Patterson), or anyone who loves a good crime show or movie will find plenty to enjoy here. Hollywood Hit Men kicks off the Cassidy Clarke series. Cassidy is a new recruit with the LAPD, following in the footsteps of her father, Bill, who’s just retired. The central case involves young women being strangled in their homes, sparking a media frenzy as the press dubs the killers the “Hollywood Hit Men.” When Cassidy and her partner arrest one suspect, she becomes determined to track down the other. Her newfound attention causes tension among her peers, but her father couldn’t be prouder. Meanwhile, Bill can’t quite leave the job behind—he’s still haunted by old cases, convinced that one man, Tyler Derby, is responsible for far more murders than he was ever charged with.

I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator was fantastic—really brought the story to life!

I’m having the hardest time reviewing this one. Overall, I loved the premise of the story, and it was entertaining enough to make me want to get to the end. But there were some things that really made me second guess a better rating for it. I think part of it is because of how different the structure and style of it is to the author’s other series, the Emily Ray series. I don’t mean that in the way that an author writes two different series, and I’m complaining that they are two different series. I mean in the way that they feel like they were written by two different people. The Emily Ray series is five stars, knocked it out of the park in my opinion. Pacing, characterization, tension, twists, editing, really superb work. But this one definitely doesn’t have the same level to me. First, there are a lot of characters, and at least six POV’s. I lost count. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it is a lot to keep track of. There are multiple POV’s in each chapter, and while it was fairly easy to discern in the printed version, I can 100% see why people in the audiobook were getting confused. There’s no way to tell the POV is shifting in the audiobook. But my biggest problem is the rampant head hopping in this story. It wasn’t just a matter of me not being able to tell a POV was shifting. It would happen in the middle of the same paragraph, and it happened a lot. It was enough to pull me out of the story several times. But because I loved the other series so much, I kept going with it. It was like that through the whole book though. I also wasn’t stoked on how Bill was portrayed as someone with a brain disorder. Personally, he didn’t seem like someone with early onset Alzheimer’s, but rather someone who was just an all around a$$hole. It was like his character spent all his time with Cassidy falsely pumping up her ego, while at the same time trying to “Little Woman” her into her place. It was a super weird disconnect. I did like the story overall though, enough that I would read the next one.

Huge thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!

I am normally a cozy mystery fan but every now and again a police Procedural or a gritty thriller will catch my eye and I jump at the chance to try something new. This book certainly covered both of those angles and I enjoyed this book. The story felt like it was written in two halves. The first half of the story with the main focus on trying to capture and out wit the serial killers was the better half. I struggled a bit more when things got more personal with the police turning against there own. I only struggled because with two cops under suspicion and the backstabbing it put everybody in a bad light, I know the thin blue line is thought as a boys club but even the way they treated Cassidy who was only trying to do her job annoyed. The story is told by multiple characters giving you an insight in to everything that was going on and a lot is going on. Cassidy was by far my favourite character, with her partner a close second and I hope they stay partnered up together and I guess I will have to read the next book to find

Just as her father Bill retires from robbery homicide, Cassidy starts her first day in uniform. Unable to close the last case he was working on, the murder and posing of young woman by a serial killer team dubbed the Hollywood hit man and not really ready to retire Bill turns his attention to his cold cases. A chance call out has Cassidy and her partner nabbing one of the killers and throws her world upside down when he insist he will only talk to the rookie who arrest him. Facing off against a serial killer was never her plan but with his partner still out they, she has no choice. With her father spiralling in his cold case, Cassidy as more to worry about than out smarting a psychopath. Just as they capture the second killer another body is found and with this death things get a lot more personal for everybody involved.
I liked the narrator, she made the characters come to life by providing them with individual voices.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Michele Dominguez Greene writes a police procedural crime thriller that introduces us to Cassidy Clark and her father Bill. Cassidy is a new police officer just out of the academy and her father is on his last day of a 40 year service as a detective retiring. I received an advance audiobook narrated by Nicol Zanzarella who I've come to love as she has narrated other police procedural books by Lee Goldberg. I enjoy her narration and she really adds depth to her characters. Outstanding when it comes to bringing the story to life.

Moving on to the story that started off strong but there were moments where things went off the rails a bit and some really unrealistic moments occurred making me question the believability of the writing. It also could have been tightened up if the neighbor storyline had been left out. It didn't progress the story in any way and it really just led to the unreliable factor for the MMC. The other issue I had with the audiobook was the transition of the narration to different characters speaking in the first person. This happened during a chapter. One minute we were in Bill's head then it would switch within the chapter to the bad guy or another side character. There were also too many POV's. 6 or 7 of them. It was getting hard to figure out who was who. The story had some twists but there was an element of horror to some of the murder scenes that were a little gruesome. So all of this to say this one is a mixed bag of a review and it started off really strong but ended a little bit in a "jumping the shark" moment. 4 stars for a strong story, 3 stars for the difficult transitions into each character, 2 stars for the ending and the lack of editing (easily could have cut 50-75 pages). 3.5 stars rounded down. I'd still check out this author's future work.

Hollywood Hit Men is the first in the Casdidy Clarke series. Cassidy is a new recruit to the LAPD. Her dad, Bill, has just retired from the force. There is alot going on in this book, too much as far as I am concerned. The main case is interesting young women are being strangled in their homes. The press creates a media frenzy by calling the perpetrators the "Hollywood Hit Men. Cassidy and her partner are called out and they end up arresting one of the "Hit Men." Cassidy is now all in on finding the other one. Her fellow officers resent her because of all the attention she is getting, but her Dad is proud of her. Bill has been working on cold cases before his retirement and is convinced that one, Tyler Derby, is responsible for more murders than he was convicted for. These cold cases continue to haunt Bill in his retirement and he continues to work the cases.

There are a number of sub plots, that I did not find interesting, Bill's ex-girlfriend's issues, a friend that is contemplating ending her life, a neighbor, and more. We have multiple POVs at least six. I like Cassidy and her character has alot of potential. The book is dark, descriptions of certain criminal actions is graphic.

When I read the synopsis, my first thoughts went to parallels of the great Bosch television series and I was excited to read this. Aside from the fact that they both have father/ daughter police officers, that is it. I would have been much happier without all the distractions that resulted in my rating. I am interested in reading the next book and hoping for less of the distractions.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Thomas & Mercer, for an ARC. The opinions in this review are my own.

2.5* Sadly, not a patch on the Emily Ray series.

This book had a decent female lead thrust into an improbable situation on her first day of work - she catches a rapist and killer, and he wants her to be the only person he'll talk to. Cue pissed-off older cops, accusations of nepo baby - her detective father's retiring on the day he starts - and her being out of her depth with just the briefest of briefings as to how to conduct the interview. Which turns into interviews, and her getting more conflicted with differing advice, until she goes out and out with flirting. I kid you not.

Her dad's an old-type cop who thinks nothing of roughing up suspects, doing what's needed to put bad guys - in his opinion - away. He's outdated and retires but decides to take up cold cases and win the day. He has a win but gets cocky, gets manipulated, stalks a new neighbour he suspects of having a fake ID and being a criminal from a past case (nothing adds up, but conveniently, a mental health condition is brought into play). He's abusive to his FWB ex-girlfriend, who ends up dead.

There's baby cop's rich boyfriend that she's not really that into. There's her new partner that may or may not become her new romantic interest. There's a bad-boy cop. There's another killer and rapist on the run. There's sex-trafficking. There's cops working against other cops, just because they're from different parts of cop'dom. There's frickin' too much happening in this book. Too many arcs, too much unnecessary stuff, especially where the dad's concerned. It needs a good editor, tbh. I'm surprised Thomas and Mercer didn't offer this up as a NetGalley ARC.

I knew almost immediately I was going to love this. I have become a big reader/fan of crime/police procedural thrillers this year (Tara French, J.D. Robb, Lisa Gardner… to name just a few authors I’ve enjoyed recently). I am already crossing my fingers that this becomes a series with multiple books. I think I saw the plan was for a three-book series, but I will take as many as she wants to write.

“Hollywood Hit Men” was full of wild, pulse-pounding suspense, dark humor, and razor-sharp, witty quips. Michele Domínguez Greene crafts a narrative that feels as if you are watching a movie. I felt like I was experiencing this book right next to these characters, but the story itself feels grounded in originality, grit, and resiliency. Her characters aren’t just memorable in nature- they explode off the page with personality. Given that this will be a series, I can only hope we get to learn more about these characters with every new book. Despite the story being set against glossy, glamorous Hollywood, the story never truly loses its edge. The result is a crime thriller that is as addictive as it is smart- it’s a high-stakes ride you don’t want to ever end.

Any fan of classic police/crime procedurals, courtroom dramas (Steve Cavanagh fans, for instance), or even just crime show/movie enthusiasts will absolutely love this. I know that for me, I will continue to read whatever book comes next for Cassidy Clarke.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for this ARC!

This book was not what I thought it would be and I found it disappointing as a result. At the heart of the story is Cassidy Clark, a rookie who joins the police force just as her father is retiring from the same department. He is a legend on the force, and she operates in the shadow of his legacy. When a serial killer strikes in Hollywood, Cassidy and her partner are working another case when she is in the right place at the right time to apprehend a suspect in the murders. She is splashed front and center of the investigation, much to the delight of her proud father and the resentment of her fellow officers. This happy accident puts a target on her back in the department when all she wants to do is to be a good cop and prove herself by good, hard police work.

In thinking about how to describe this book, I found it to be two mysteries in one. There is the serial killer story, which I thought should have been the premise of the book. But once they find the killers, there is a whole other second murder mystery involving the dad and his on-again/off-again girlfriend. Because of the attention devoted to the second mystery, the serial killer part felt rushed and too pat. There was a real opportunity to make that story more intricate and more interesting to solve. It seemed to me that the serial killer story existed as a kind of red herring for the second, diverting the reader’s attention so as not to see the other murder coming. It didn’t really work for me.

“Hollywood Hit Men” is the beginning of a new series starring Cassidy Clarke and written by actress and writer Michele Dominguez Greene.

First, the positives:
The writing is engaging and fun to read, even if the subject matter isn’t always pleasant. The character work is good. Ms. Greene has created a great cast of characters that are clearly defined and left so much there to create adventures of their own.

The novel is dark in nature, but that is police work. There are plenty of moments of levity and normalcy that allow you to take a breath. The pace of this novel was phenomenal.

The “just okay”:
Nicol Zanzarella narrated the audiobook. There were several times that her voice and inflection didn’t draw out the emotion of the situation. It was just stated facts. I felt like there could be some improvement in that area or find another narrator.

Also, there was a development with Officer Clarke’s father that, honestly, I felt could have been carried over to the next novel (releasing Spring of 2026). Instead, the author chose to quickly wrap it up with a nice little bow as if it was tv show and had to finish in an hour time limit. It was gripping drama that should have been given space to breathe.

Overall, this was an enjoyable novel and fits perfectly in with other Fall releases with such greats as Grisham, Connelly, Evanovich, and Patterson’s Alex Cross Series. Looking forward to continuing the adventures of Officer Clarke.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

Cassidy Clarke is fresh from the police academy and joining up with the LAPD homicide division, right as her father Bill Clarke, a respected veteran detective on the force, is retiring. Cassidy wants to follow in her dad's footsteps yet still carve out her own path - she wants to help bring the LAPD into the 21st century and do away with the 'old boys club' mentality that still lingers in the more senior members of the force. Bill is not exactly excited to retire but he does begrudgingly admit that it will give him time to work on some departmental cold cases. All the while, there's a rampant serial killer running around Los Angeles strangling women in their homes. Can Cassidy possibly hope to keep an eye on her father now that he's retired while maintaining professionalism at her new job AND help catch a killer? Only time will tell.

I th0ught this was a great story - strong characters, interesting plot twists, well-written and easy to follow. I found it gritty, emotional, and thoroughly engrossing. The writeup said that this is Book 1 in a new Cassidy Clarke series, so I'm definitely waiting excitedly for book 2 to come out soon!

Cassidy Clarke is the newest "nepo hire" for the LAPD. Her father, veteran detective Bill Clarke is retiring. Cassidy is immediately caught in a huge case of a serial killer who strangles women, poses them and draws a lipstick heart of their cheek. The killers have been coined "the Hollywood Hit Men." One of the killers has been caught and he is obsessed with Cassidy. On the other hand now that he father has retired he will start looking into and solving cold cases.

I liked Cassidy as a character. She is given a hard time by those who are jealous of who her father is and the attention she is receiving from being a newbie and catching the killers. There are multiple points of view and several side stories going on. Just a warning to the readers that there is rape, and graphic criminal actions. I really enjoy this author's books. This is the first book in a series and I look forward to reading the next one!

Cassidy Clarke is on her first patrol day as a new boot at the LAPD when she apprehends a serial killer that her father, freshly retired detective, had been chasing. She is thrown into the world of a homicide detective as the killer decides he will only talk to one person: her.

We follow both Cassidy working on a fresh case and her father, retired but unable to give up the chase, as he works to solve decades old cold cases.

This book is extremely layered in the way of storylines and point of views. Each chapter contained perspectives of each and a few times I had to read back through a page having not realized the perspectives had changed. I wish that it had been broken into chapters by the storylines/povs, even if they were small. Otherwise, I enjoyed this and following as Cassidy navigated the world of the LAPD. There was one unfinished storyline and I can’t wait to read the second book in this installment to see how it plays out !

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this novel.

I just binge listened to this audiobook in a day, and I'm on the fence about whether or not I'd like to read the next book when it comes out. The plot was a little all over the place with lots of threads running at the same time, but more importantly, the writing was a little too "gritty" for my taste. I get that the main character needs other characters to play off and make her look like the good seed among a police force full of troubled men. However, there was so much homophobia, misogyny, and racism peppered throughout the book that added up to a lot of unpleasant scenes, not to mention the graphic rapes.

In short, this book was pretty dark, but if you don't mind the above, then the main mystery and side mysteries will hold your attention.

Re: the narration, I found the narrator Nicol Zanzarella to be pleasant to listen to as usual, and would certainly listen to more by her.

1/5 stars: This is Greene's stand-alone BIPOC Police Procedural Mystery set in California. Featuring a woman starting her first day in the LAPD on patrol and her father, a veteran detective, on the eve of his retirement, as they investigate a possible serial killer and dig into cold cases that are suspected to be attributed to a convicted killer. As their investigations escalate, The two find themselves embroiled in a dangerous game without a playbook. And if they can’t figure out the rules, their reputations aren’t all they could lose. Told in multiple POV including the suspects, Greene's writing and character work are well done. Greene touches on some very sensitive subjects, so take care and the CWs. Unfortunately, this just wasn't a book for me; leading me to DNF it at 12%.

A compelling, slow-burn thriller set in Los Angeles featuring a cop father and daughter at opposite ends of their careers. Cassidy Clarke's first day is the last day of her old-school detective father's career. I love the author’s Emily Ray series so I was very keen to read this new one. It didn’t disappoint, it feels like you’re reading a TV or movie as the action jumps from different characters.

I really appreciate that the author doesn't shy away from the systemic issues within the police force. Cassidy starts off as fairly well versed in the reality given her cop father. But as the book progresses, starts to realise how bad the system is and questions whether she has a future. At times it felt like the action flowed between too many characters, but it was worth sticking with it as it all ties up nicely.

I cannot wait for the next book, I am officially hooked!

Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the ARC.

6/10 the description of the book being police procedural.. very accurate. i found it to be borderline too descriptive and graphic, which i think if i was prepared for it, i would have been less surprised. it did focus a lot on the crimes, rape, murder, and a few too many sexual descriptions for a crime book when you aren’t expecting it.
i thought it was a decent book, but not anything i would be rushing to recommend.
the focus on the serial killers in the first half felt overshadowed by the murder of Eden. I almost forgot about Witty and Vithu.
also, i felt like the CTE arc was constantly beat over the head of the reader… you can’t prove anyone has CTE.. and it felt like a very “tell not show” arc.
i wish it focused more on the corrupt aspect of the LAPD and the thin blue line, versus shoehorning the Eden storyline.

thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

A tale of two Clarkes.

Greens HOLLYWOOD HIT MEN, is dark and gritty police procedural with some head-scratching moments. Rookie cop, Cassidy Clarke and her father, Retiring LAPD Homicide Detective, Bill Clarke's adventures in LAPD are a mixed bag, with some exciting plots and subplots. The surprising twists at times can be a bit too much "Hollywood Flair."
One example, without telling too much, Cassidy Clarke's first day on the job she, and her FTO, respond to a "Glory Hole" call. The FTO tells how to handle it, however, she actually changed how to handle the call.
I found Michele Greene to be a gifted author and can tell an exciting storyline. But again, implausible scenarios.
Greene will have a sequel for this book. I may give it a second chance. My suggestion is for her to have someone with a law enforcement background give an honest review.

Hollywood Hit Men by Michele Dominguez Green is a great police procedural!

Cassidy is following in her father’s footsteps by joining the LAPD right as he is retiring. She is tasked with helping to solve a string of murders that have been occurring, while her father decides that he wants to work on some cold cases that need to be solved. They both get more than they bargained for.

The characters were fantastic. Cassidy could be a bit stronger, in my opinion, but I can see why she has some of the traits that she does. I hope that we see her evolving more in the second book coming out.

I listened to this book as an ALC from NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing. The narrator, Nicol Zanzarella was perfection. I look forward to hearing more of her work in the future.

This book is the epitome of “perfectly fine.” It’s not one I’d go out of my way to recommend, but it’s also not one I’d steer anyone away from either.
The premise had real potential — a veteran homicide detective working his last day on the job alongside his newly graduated cop daughter, who’s just starting her first day at the same precinct, all while a pair of serial killers begin escalating in L.A. Her dad’s final case that day? Another murder victim. I loved the setup and expected something with the gritty depth and tension of The Killing. The opening hooked me, and the pacing kept me engaged enough to finish without feeling like I had to force myself.

That said, it just… fell flat. Several threads — like the daughter’s best friend who had a traumatic past or her somewhat irrelevant boyfriend — felt incomplete and unnecessary. And while I started to sense where the author could have gone with a great twist, the ending ended up feeling predictable and anticlimactic.

Overall, Hollywood Hit Men was a perfectly fine read with a solid concept that didn’t quite live up to its potential.

I listened to this on audiobook — it was well done and easy to follow, but nothing that particularly stood out.

Hollywood Hit Men is an entertaining, fast-paced thriller that blends gritty action with a behind-the-scenes look at the darker side of fame and power. The premise is fun and the pacing keeps things moving, making it an easy book to stay engaged with. While some characters felt a bit underdeveloped and a few plot turns were more dramatic than believable, the overall ride was still enjoyable. It’s the kind of story that doesn’t take itself too seriously and delivers exactly what it promises—crime, chaos, and plenty of Hollywood flair.

A solid, lively read for fans of action-forward thrillers.

This story mainly follows a new LAPD officer as she navigates her detective father's retirement and being brought in on a major serial killer case on one her first days on the job. I liked how the author broke the chapter up into multiple POVs, it made me want to keep reading to see how a character will respond to things happening around them. There is a story line that didn't wrap up in this book so I am hoping that the next book will help finish that story and dive into the next case. If you like police thrillers give this one a try.

I liked the book but I also had issues with it. I found myself laughing sometimes like the man bun guy and a certain body part, and there were many moments throughout the book like this. The case was interesting and I enjoyed how descriptive it was. I did however not like the many other sub plots and POVs, it took away from the main story to me personally. It just dragged at some points and I just wanted to get back to Hollywood hitmen case. Other than that I did enjoy the writing and the main story.

First book in a Cassidy Clarke series. Cassidy's first day in the police force is also her dad's last. Billy Clarke is retiring after forty-one years of service. Cassidy encounters many different attitudes and prejudices at work. Bill in turn dreads retirement and starts researching cold cases.

This is a good police procedural with interesting cast of characters. Multiple POV's move the story forward. I felt there were some inconsistency in the timeline, but all in all I really enjoyed the story.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for a copy of this book.

I liked Cassidy, but there were several characters I couldn’t get behind. The plot was interesting and kept your attention. The story highlighted the seedier side of Hollywood. There were several storylines going on and got confusing for a bit. The pacing was slow but eventually picked up.

My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions are my own.

This book was a pleasant surprise. The first few characters took a while to earn my attention but it picked up and I really enjoyed it.
The story itself was pretty good but the characters really brought it together. I really like Cassidy and will probably pick up the next book in the series.
The narrator was great and kept my attention.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy
