4.5 stars. Not only is this one of the best fics I’ve ever read, but it is hands down the best character study of Pansy Parkinson (Longbottom) that has ever been attempted. So much so, that this has been engrained as canon for me. JK has stated time and again that she hated Pansy as a character and that she had no redeeming qualities (blatant misogyny from a TERF, who would have thunk it?). But this author understood Pansy to her core, and gave her a voice that JK refused to give her. To have the ability to do that isn’t just impressive; it’s incredible. And important. Even if this is “just a fic.”
This might be recency bias, but I might love Panville more than I love Dramione. Maybe because it’s something that’s not explored often. But when they get it right, lorddddd do they get it right. It makes all the sense in the world.
I fear nothing else will scratch my Panville itch and I’ll just have to keep rereading this again and again. This was so good.
