After her father died in the Battle of Hogwarts, Pansy Parkinson believed she was free. Three months before her twenty-fourth birthday, however, her guardian is found and invokes her ancient family rites to issue an ultimatum. Forced to choose between the loss of any autonomy or of her magic itself, she has exactly one loophole.
Marriage to Neville Longbottom.
But as she grows to know her new husband, she realizes that he's nothing like the boy she used to bully in school. Unfortunately, some wizards will stop at nothing for revenge and Pansy has to decide how much she can ask of the man she convinced to marry her.
4.5 stars. Not only is this one of the best fics I’ve ever read, but it is hands down the best character study of Pansy Parkinson (Longbottom) that has ever been attempted. So much so, that this has been engrained as canon for me. JK has stated time and again that she hated Pansy as a character and that she had no redeeming qualities (blatant misogyny from a TERF, who would have thunk it?). But this author understood Pansy to her core, and gave her a voice that JK refused to give her. To have the ability to do that isn’t just impressive; it’s incredible. And important. Even if this is “just a fic.”
This might be recency bias, but I might love Panville more than I love Dramione. Maybe because it’s something that’s not explored often. But when they get it right, lorddddd do they get it right. It makes all the sense in the world.
I fear nothing else will scratch my Panville itch and I’ll just have to keep rereading this again and again. This was so good.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | this was a long pansy and neville fic it had such a great found family/ ensemble cast. loved seeing the relationship between pansy and neville’s mother and the vindictive nature of pansy and how she made everyone work to find out the reason for her actions at the battle of hogwarts. neville is the perfect partner for pansy he takes care of her and defends her even when he’s oblivious to the things she suffers.
also read the promise which is neville’s POV. 27/06/25
Pansy/Neville what a pair! miscommunication and misunderstanding tropes but not over used (it's a trust thing). why is the answer to any problem always Theo (not that I'm complaining).
