A society’s secrets. A duo’s determination. When a prominent attorney is murdered and branded with a star, Detectives Daniels and Remalla go on the hunt for a killer. Their search for a witness offers hope, but when a trusted ally is targeted, their unrelenting determination to reveal the truth triggers unexpected consequences.
A reporter on a mission, a stranger with secrets, and a cousin intent on proving himself become tools in a game where Daniels and Remalla don’t know the rules. And when a violent attack threatens one of their own, desperate measures may lead to the destruction of the one thing that can keep them alive—their partnership.
When all seems lost, can the deep bonds of friendship be enough to put the pieces of a dangerous puzzle together, or are Daniels and Remalla doomed to follow the same fate and become prey to a shadowy underworld determined to destroy them?
The answer will reveal how much they’re willing to sacrifice to uncover an ugly vendetta, and the cost could be their lives.
From the mind of J. T. Bishop, Vendetta will take you on a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Award-winning author, J.T. Bishop, is a writer of mystery thrillers with a supernatural edge. Growing up, she read books by Stephen King, Mary Higgins Clark, and Dean Koontz, devoured every episode of The X-files, and watched plenty of TV shows with great partnerships that left her wanting more. She loves tangled relationships, unexpected twists and turns, heart-stopping love stories and the complications that come with all the above. Throw in a little supernatural fun and she’s hooked. Her evil plan is to hook you, too.
She’s the author of The Red-Line Trilogy and its sister series, The Fletcher Family Saga, which features touches of urban fantasy, light sci-fi, and paranormal romance. She’s also happily writing mystery thrillers featuring two charismatic detectives who may occasionally encounter a supernatural villain or two, and a crossover series which follows the exploits of a gifted, but troubled, paranormal P.I. and his spunky sister.
All the above keeps her busy, but in her spare time, she loves a good movie, tasty food, an unfortunate sugar addiction, and traveling.

I was given an ARC of this book. My review is completely voluntary.
Daniels and Remalla are partners and actually more like brothers. Someone is out to get them. Then the stalkers go after the people dearest to both of our police officers. That has to be stopped. Daniels and Remalla face all kinds of trials and tragedies, but they always have each other to rely on, even if they are angry at each other. This book was gripping to read. I have liked all of the books featuring these two. Well worth your time.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with the murder of a defense attorney with Jerry Lee, a hotel attendant being a witness. He is shot and then goes into hiding. This killing has all of the earmarks of "The Star Killer". This is the third scene like this. Rem and Daniels are responsible for this case. The first thing they did after leaving the scene is look for Jerry Lee.
They believe that the killer is Rhonda, an assassin for the Black Bird group. They have been involved with trying to bring it down and have had no luck. They have bought Mikey, Lexie and Erin into the hunt. Erin is new and Daniels decides to get the group to a dinner so they can get to meet Erin. At the gathering, an unexpected reveal is made.
Getting back to the investigation, in addition to Jerry Lee, the others in the group are now in danger as well.
Read along a discover what events "The Black Bird Group" put in motion and what impact it has on the team. Learn how Lozano is affected and who is his replacement.
The ending is helpful and will leaving you wanting. You will have to wait for the next book to learn more.
The plot of this series moves at a good pace. There isn’t an over abundance of exposition that accomplishes nothing but bore the reader. However I found the actual writing to be clumsy in many places. This author is certainly fond of dangling propositions. The use of the same word more than once in a sentence is unsettling. On several occasions a sentence ends with a particular word, only to have the next sentence start with that same word. Talk about putting the brakes on reading! I gave the book a 3 because of the plot and well fleshed out characters but the writing was a 2.
Daniels and Remalla’s relationship is unbreakable but it was tested to the extreme. Suspicion and blame almost cost them their partnership and friendship but when the truth is revealed, they found themselves closer than ever. I loved the way their friendship enabled them to be open and honest both intellectually and emotionally.
Will they be able to prove Lozano’s innocence as well as their own? Can they save their key witness and bring down a secret society? I can’t wait for the next book.
I would suggest you read the previous books in the series before this one. If you don't, you will be missing out a some great reads and some back story for this book. There is a lot going on in this book. There are definitely some very sad and upsetting parts in this story and it's not yet the end. There are many surprises along the way and more Daniels and Remalla need to deal with.
This book blew me away. After 9 books I feel like Daniels and Remalla along with their loved ones are part of my family. This book answered a lot of questions, but raised even more. The relationship between these two partners and friends was really put to the test. I cried my eyes out. J.T. Bishop always leaves you wanting more. I read this book in a day and can't wait till the next one.
Once again Detectives Daniels and Remalla are on the hunt for a killer. Will they find the culprit in time before anyone else gets murdered. Full of suspense and action that will have you intrigued. There’s no stopping until the truth comes out. You definitely won’t be disappointed, absolutely fantastic.
A murder with a star burned into the skin of the victim. Daniels and Rem are assigned the case. Their captain has been suspended, and a new replacement is keeping an eye on them. A witness to the recent murder is in hiding and an assassin is hunting to eliminate him. A conspiracy to frame Daniels and Rem. A page turner and a cliff hanger.
This is a thrilling read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is a case for Detectives Daniels and Remalla. As they work their way through the case, they find themselves in danger. The two characters work well together. This is another crime thriller by JT Bishop that will keep your attention on the story with twists and turns and danger. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
If not for family and friends, we would not be anywhere. Continuing the hunt for the group with the tatoo of the blue bird, our heros, Daniels and Renatta are surprised by an unknown relative and confronted with trust issues by another. This one ends with a choice that no one should have to make, stay straight or face the consequences of your actions.
Rem & Daniels are back with their unique brand of banter as they seek to unearth more clues to the clandestine group that are leaving murder victims branded with a star.
Brilliant characters, excellent plotting and great fun to read
There’s quite a twist in this book. Never thought it was possible with these two. Some series, after a while, you’re kinda over it. But this series? I look forward to every release. The fact that I can still be surprised is one of the things that keeps me coming back
Vendetta, #9 - Luckily for me, I had Illusions, the previous book of this series. The story picks up where I'll. ends. Immersing and interesting with plenty of secrets and action. Continues into the next book with the new story line twist. Source: The author. 5*
SHADOWS AND SECRETS: A Detectives Daniels and Remalla Omnibus Collection Books 1-3 Source: The author; Individual stories, my Kindle library. 4*
HAUNTED RIVER, #1 - Interesting and intriguing story lines. Good characters. A bit of ghosts and nightmares. Humor. The last chapter sets up the next book. 4*
OF BREATH AND BLOOD, #2 - Starts about a month after HR ends. Intense. Dark. More self-discoveries that border paranormal. 5*
OF BODY AND BONE, #3 - Picks up three months after OBAB. More paranormal experiences. Interesting. Sadly, ends short, must continue on to find out what happens after the bombshell. 4* Shadows and Secrets end.
ILLUSIONS, #8 - The author warned to read the previous book of this series before reading Illusions. I did not since I did not have a copy and did not miss the book until I read the last chapter of this book. The story continues in another book although small pieces of the big puzzle were found but the ending did not satisfy me. The previous books are not rehashed, just bits mentioned here and there, which did not interfere with the story lines. I would recommend reading the previous books since there's more to the story ranging over at least one more book. Good story lines and good characters. Source: The author. 4*
Lost Love - This is the seventh book of the Redstine Chronicles series of which this is the only book I've read. That said, other than my curiosity about what L went through previously, which she spoke about late in the book, I did not need the previous books read. LL is interesting and intriguing in places; easy to figure out but with twists that add meatyness; and good characters. P could have more info about him, a meatier character but he is an old character, so my loss not reading the series. Overall, a good read by itself and for missing the rest of the series. ARC reader, honest review. Vendetta by J.T. Bishop is a fast-paced thriller filled with suspense and action. The story follows a protagonist driven by revenge after a personal tragedy, and Bishop does a great job of building tension throughout. The characters are well-developed, particularly the lead, whose emotional depth adds complexity to the plot. While the story can be predictable at times, the gripping pace and strong character development make it an engaging read. It's a solid choice for fans of crime thrillers looking for a suspenseful and action-packed story. Recommend this series and looking forward to the next!!
Vendetta: A Murder Mystery Suspense Thriller (Detectives Daniels and Remalla Book 9), my twenty-third read from author J.T. Bishop and the ninth book in the Redstone Chronicles. “I received a Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. The book was well-written & flowed smoothly & quickly. I look forward to reading more from this author with Lost Love: A Paranormal Mystery Thriller (The Redstone Chronicles Book 7) high on my TBR list and Black Bird: A Murder Mystery Suspense Thriller (Detectives Daniels and Remalla Book 10) due out next year. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
