Degrading Her

Rate this book
She’ll beg for more.

When Fiona resisted me, I watched her from afar. I even killed a stranger to keep her safe. Then I learned about her dreams and sensual desires.

Fiona wants a library, and I want to ruin her.

A good girl like Fiona needs praise and degradation to become my toy, and I’m ready to bring her down to her knees. She’ll hate to beg, but deep down, she’ll want more.

I propose a No matter what happens, don’t say “please.”

If Fiona wins, I’ll give her a library.

And if she loses, I’ll destroy her.

Author’s This book was previously titled His Twisted Game. It is a slow burn dark romance, and it contains disturbing content. Reader discretion is advised.

Got this arc from booksirens.

Audrey Rush is one of my favorite writers so it's not really a suprised I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read the first book in the series, it didn't ruin the experience but reading both would give more context. The story was less dark and more milder from the books I've read by her before. Her stalker series are a lot darker and more depreaved. I enjoy those more but I really liked this one as well.

this was alright. i thought it was gonna be darker based on the author's other books, but it was pretty mild. if you’re worried about this book being about degradation because of the title, don’t lol it was super light stuff, barely anything. to the point that i’m not even putting this in my degradation shelf lol

it started off interesting, but the fmc was dumbed down to further the plot, and that will always piss me off. she was very very dense. can authors stop doing that? like, damn… *sigh* besides that, it was okay enough. overall mid.

other info (possible spoilers):
1st person/dual pov
no virgins
mild angst
violence
no condoms
no sharing
no owd
no omd
fmc and mmc met briefly 5 years ago but she was drunk and nothing happened. there’s no info about their celibacy
no cheating
3rd act breakup (kind of)

Going into this one I was unsure at first how much I’d like Sawyer, since he kind of annoyed me in the first book, but omg I love him! Getting to be in his head and seeing why he did what he did made me see him in a whole different way for how he acting in the first book.

I of course signed up to ARC this book because I can never miss out on the opportunity to read on of Audrey’s works, and I loved every second of this read. I couldn’t put it down!

Sawyer and Fiona are everything! Their game was spicy and intense. I love how passionate Fiona is about wanting a library and just that scene of her reading to Sawyer was so😩🤌🏽

I’m also a sucker for the little glimpse into other couples in interconnected books, so of course I was living for the small Maisie and Wilder moments.

Also I was not expecting that ending! Absolutely crazy! I cannot recommend it enough!

Yep, it's undeniable (not that I'd want to deny). I love Audrey's books!

Degrading Her was so different than the first book in the duet. Honestly, <>Sawyer> is so different from how I perceived him in the first book!

Sure, he's still the badass boss, cruel and cold on the outside. But to hear his story, what happened with his Feldman Offering and how long this has been unfolding - I really went from veeery low-key disliking him in book 1 (who am I trying to fool, we all know I love a hard ass bad boy MMC) to loving and wanting to hold him very tight. A powerful hard ass with a heart.

Talk about abuse of power - I probably wouldn't have had Fiona's strength with his deals! And I loved seeing her side of things.

This is an older book of Audrey's and I think there is definitely a noticeable difference to her newer books. Even so, one thing that stuck out to me as incredibly good writing was how different Sawyer looked from Wilder's POV and vice versa. The grasp Audrey has on her characters and their different layers and shades is so striking in this duet.

Once again, Audrey crafted an amazingly captivating world of darkness. Drowning Her and Degrading Her are definitely more suited for the broad dark romance reader community (still, check TWs please) and she nailed the dynamics!

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a voluntary, honest review

I loved learning about Fiona, and could clearly see how different the sisters are.
Their relationships had way different dynamics.
I had a suspicion that Wilder and Maisie’s relationship was more than just coincidence..

I enjoyed Fiona and Sawyer’s story, from the stalking to him bringing a random body to his father…. He knew she would be more than a fling even when he was denying it.
I knew Fiona had a bit of fire in her and was so happy when it clicked, and she didn’t shy away from protecting him.

Also, making her read while he… chef’s kiss. 10/10.

I read the first part of the Duet a while ago and was so curious to read the second part as I honestly had no clue of what would happen, I didn’t like Sawyer at all up until almost the very end of the first part, and I was very curious to find out about his past and what happened to the woman he had to sacrifice, and when I tell you that the things that I read in the 2nd part made my jaw drop I absolutely mean it, was sat there pointing at my Kindle going “no fucking way! HE DID THAT?!” Because let me tell you, Sawyer is one smart man. Hot too🙃 It came as absolutely no surprise that I loved yet another book by Audrey, at this point I don’t think she’s capable of writing a book I will dislike 😌

Sawyer…. At times I was in my head screaming at Fiona like girl he is literally manipulating you! But that was literally the whole point, up until a certain point, everything that he did was to manipulate Fiona, to always have her questioning where she stood, have her never fully relaxed, always keeping her on her toes. It was actually really interesting having Sawyer’s POV when he would intentionally be manipulative, have him switch between complimenting Fiona, making her blush and feel appreciated, to then next minute make it seem like she’s very much disposable. I’ve never read a book where we actually see the manipulation in the POV of the one who manipulates the other so I really enjoy reading about Sawyer’s thought process before acting, it was weird because even knowing all of that I couldn’t hate him! I think what helped was that as much as he tried not to care, to not have any feelings for Fiona he just simply couldn’t help it, he would take care of her, literally kill for her, being ‘warmed’ by her laugh, yeah that emotion pissed him off lol, oh and best part was as soon as he was mean to her he would literally be like well wtf did i do that for lmao😭 Like sir make your mind up will you! But the fact is that his behaviour was understandable, it wasn’t right no, but the way he behaved could be understood because of the fucked up ways he was brought up. What blew my mind though was how smart he was, all the plans he put in place to get Fiona to be right where he needed her! When I read HOW he did it all my jaw was literally on the floor! I was scared that maybe he would be reluctant to be with Fiona because we knew he had a woman he cared for deeply, oh to find out the truth about that… again jaw = dropped, mind = blown. Sawyer’s character really played with my emotions because one minute I would get all happy that he’s finally letting himself be happy with his Father being gone and finally allow himself some freedom, and then the fucker would go an ruin it being all male and shit, all big and strong no feeling allowed!😒 Made me want to punch him, but he definitely had moments that ultimately made me fall in love with him😩 Couldn’t help it, and well neither could Fiona😌

Fiona was another FMC written by Audrey that I loved, the first part of the duet made me think that she was shy, innocent and possibly naive, which in a way she was all of those things but she was also strong as fuck and her character had much more depth than what I initially believed. She was very ambitious, determined to follow her dreams and make it all on her own, and honestly she may have done so if it weren’t for the slight seed of doubt that Sawyer would plant in her mind now and then, like complementing Erica’s ability to do her job knowing full well he was making them compete against one another which in the end made her agree to his terms and his little game. I was pleased to find that Fiona was strong enough not to fall into many of the traps and to say the two words that would make her loose the game, I unfortunately know that I would have 0 chance, but Fiona was not only able to avoid his traps but also gain some control over him too, making the game hard for him as well😌 I truly didn’t know what to expect when it came to Fiona finding out about who Sawyer really is, it actually made me chuckle when he would full on expose himself and his job and she would just be like yeah ha ha you’re sooo funny😭 Her reaction did come as a bit of a surprise though because as we learn she was quite sheltered in a way so I think I expected a bit of a freak out, but I was quite glad there wasn’t one, she didn’t like it or anything but again didn’t freak out. The only thing I slightly disliked, was how quickly she forgave him, certainly didn’t forget what he did but I do think he should have grovelled more, but again this is not your usual romance and Sawyer was definitely no typical man lol, but I wanted him to suffer just that tiny bit more. Although in the end he did basically give up everything for her, see what I mean when I say this book played with my emotions!!!! Ugh I loved it

As short as this book was there was so much depth, mystery, plot, spiiiceee, and all types of emotions packed in. It wasn’t overwhelming, it wasn’t confusing, it was perfect, kept my attention all the way through just as much if not more as the first part. Very happy with having received an ARC for the duet, loved every second of it!

Fiona has always dreamed of owning her own library, a passion that has burned bright her entire life. Then one fateful, drunken night, she meets a mysterious stranger who offers her a twisted game. The stakes—her dream against her freedom. Even in her drunken haze, she has the good sense to refuse him, unknowingly igniting a dangerous obsession. Fast-forward five years, and fate (or something far more sinister) throws them together again at their siblings’ wedding anniversary. Sawyer is dark, damaged, and utterly relentless. His view of the world is nothing short of warped, a direct result of his brutal upbringing, but what’s even more chilling is his fixation on making Fiona see the world through his lens. He despises her strength, her refusal to back down, her sheer determination to carve her own path. And yet, he can’t stay away. Instead, he does what he does best and manipulates her. By purchasing the very library where Fiona works, Sawyer drags her into his gravitational pull, this time with an offer that’s impossible to ignore. The game is simple. If she can last without uttering the words “Please, Sawyer,” half the library is hers. If she fails? She belongs to him. What follows is an intoxicating battle of wills, a cat-and-mouse game crackling with tension, obsession, and raw desire. Neither is willing to surrender, but with stakes this high, someone has to break. And let’s talk about the spice, because, whew, it’s hot enough to melt your Kindle. Sawyer knows exactly how to push Fiona to the edge, and every moment between them drips with an intensity that’s both maddening and delicious. Yes, this is a power play, but surprisingly, these two are far more evenly matched than either is willing to admit. The question isn’t just who will win—it’s who will give in first? 🔥🔥🔥

Sawyer & Fiona met at an event 5 years ago but she doesn't remember him. He loves playing games and offers her a way to get what she wants. If he wins she's his and if she wins then she becomes co-owner of his library (a dream of hers).

They have some very steamy scenes and their chemistry was palpable. He was confident, dominant and a ruthless unaliver. She was strong and determined, always fighting for what she wanted and not backing down.

My heart did break a little for her when he suddenly became cold and distant as she didn't understand why. He's keeping his lifestyle a secret and is afraid of what she'll think once she knows the horrible things he does. There's also a big risk of certain people finding out his true feelings for her as they will use that against him which puts her in danger.

The back story of these brothers is explained in book 1 so I do suggest you read it but I think you can read this one as a standalone.

Degrading Her, the second instalment in Audrey Rush's Dark Assassins Duet, is a re-release of the author's previous work "His Twisted Game."

The story follows Fiona Rossa, a diligent and studious good girl striving to gain admission into medical school. As a reward for passing her midterm exams, Fiona decides to indulge in a night out at a college bar, where she encounters the enigmatic Sawyer. He proposes a high-stakes game: as long as Fiona refrains from uttering the word "please," Sawyer promises to provide her with her very own library. However, if Sawyer emerges victorious, Fiona will become his possession.

Deeming the stakes excessively high, Fiona declines to participate in the game. Undeterred by her refusal, Sawyer continues to observe Fiona from a distance, even resorting to taking the life of a stranger in order to ensure her safety.

This dark romance novel, while well-crafted, is not intended for the faint of heart, delving into the darkest recesses of human desire and the consequences of dangerous games.

While the novel can be enjoyed as a standalone, reading the first book in the series provides valuable context for certain sections.

The author's skilful writing brings the story to life, though some readers may struggle to connect with Fiona's character and understand her motivations. In contrast, Sawyer's intense attraction to Fiona is palpable throughout the narrative, even if her reciprocation remains less apparent.

Get ready for Sawyer and Fiona's devilishly twisted game! Five years ago when they first meet Sawyer knew she would be his, his to play with but he doesnt expect for her to resist his game which only makes him more determined to break her. But in wanting her, his father would make her his Feldman offering, one he would end up deceiving. Now years on his planning had worked and Fiona is thrust back into his life as his sister in law. Fiona had always wanted her own library but what lengths would she go to? Will she give in to Sawyers games? Or is her pride be to strong? Will Sawyer's mind be changed when circumstances change and make him feel something? Well written book 2 in the Feldman brothers duet. Can be read as standalone but you wouldn't want to miss Wylders story! Sawyer uses manipulation to get what he wants but when the one person he starts to crave won't obey will we see the monster within? A captivating story that draws you in from page one and characters that take you on a journey through all the depraved motions! Filled with, suspense, desires, dark themes, dub-con, violence, teasing and steamy scenes. Audrey Rush is a queen of dark twisting anti hero's! That have you coming back for more!

4.5 stars! Sawyer is....intense!

Degrading Her is the second installment in The Dark Assassins Duet, can be read as a standalone but I would suggest to start with book #1 for a better background understanding.
We didn't get to see much of Sawyer in Wilder's book, so I didn't know what I was exactly counting on with the younger brother' story. Let me just say that I was impressed!

Sawyer's assets have to do more with the management and contracts of their 'subtraction business' as well as some special dealings, with great room for manipulation, domination and subjugation just like Forrest Feldman has taught both his sons.
I really enjoyed Sawyer's complex character and inner turmoil - making him believe in his inability to love and be loved - that was de-synchronized by a struggling but strong and fierce Fionam peeling his layers, beliefs and not so pure intentions ingrained since birthm and discover the purest soul of a man raised to be a killng machine that is, as well, an emotional and feeling human being.
It all started with a game, but what they got was so much more.....
Who won? Who lost? Both. Both. Sawyer lost some of his coldness and detachment, only for her. Fiona lost her innocence. But both won a remarkable and unexpected ❤great love❤!

This book has been renamed and re-released. It goes along with Drowning Her, the first book in the duet. If you've read both books, the Feldman trials will be familiar. Sawyer's brother was featured in Drowning Her. I would recommend reading Drowning Her first. The family dynamics, which are important, are discussed far less in this book. Audrey Rush writes dark, morbid, and crazy books so check the warnings listed.

I didn’t know what to make of Sawyer's character in the first book. I know that's because the book was not written from his point of view, but how other people viewed Sawyer. Actually trying to understand Sawyer and why he acts and feels certain ways are important. Fiona was also the sister of the woman in the first book. Fiona's character is familiar, but not the story as Fiona sees it. Fiona and Sawyer are so wrapped up in both of their family dynamics and history.

Sawyer was determined to play a game with Fiona. Who really won in the end? Playing a game with a Feldman is a bad idea! Rolling dice is one way to solve problems. To me, this book was still dark but lighter than the first book.

After the first book, I was a bit scared of the second one, but this book was way lighter. Or maybe it is just that I prefer stalking plots in general; I am not sure. Sawyer is a lot easier to connect to and understand. I liked the characters in this book way more than in the ones in the last book. Also, plotwise, I think there was more going on and I read this book within a couple of days and could not put it down. It is always hard for me to say exactly what would have made this a 5 star book for me but in general dark romance really rarely makes it to 5 stars because the characters are just not completely understandable. Also, in the plot, there needs to be more heartbreak, like a betrayal or a loss.

All in all I would recommend book 1 only to readers who are really into dark romance and to read the trigger warnings before (although the title is a trigger warning in itself to be honest). Book 2 I would recommend to people who like romance and don't mind it getting a bit dark, especially towards people not in the relationship. It is possible to read book 2 without having read book 1, the most important details are recapped in the beginning so it would be easy to understand the story.

I think I may have liked Sawyer and Fiona's story a little better than their brother's and sister's respectively. A man a little obsessed after first meeting her and saving her from his family with Fi none the wiser. Enough to keep tabs on her for the past 5 years. When they meet again- Fi doesn't know how she knows him, but she knows that he is familiar. Sawyer executes his own forced proximity plan- making sure Fiona can't say no to him-- and initiates a game that will keep Fiona drawn to him.
As a first-born daughter, I really sympathized with Fiona's struggles, need for perfection, and ultimate burnout from trying to please everyone around you. Dual POV is my favorite in Romances when the reader can be in the minds of both main characters to see each perspective. My favorite was watching Sawyer's complete need for control and power slowly dissipate throughout the story as he and Fiona become closer... and when his secrets are revealed the emotional agony he goes through when he thinks all is lost.

5⭐️

This book was phenomenal! Saying I loved it more than Drowning Her is huge because I adored that one, but this story took everything to another level. The dynamic between Fiona and Sawyer was intense, addictive, and so well-written. The tension, the power play, and the way their relationship evolved had me hooked from start to finish.

And Sawyer? Absolute perfection. Dark, possessive, and completely unhinged in the best way—he’s everything I dream about in a fictional man. The way he understands Fiona, challenges her, and pushes her limits while still giving her exactly what she needs was just chef’s kiss.

Audrey Rush is absolutely my number one author, and as long as she writes books, I will read them. No questions asked. If you love dark romance with a gripping plot and sizzling chemistry, you need to read this. I couldn’t put it down!

I have not read the first book but that didn’t hinder anything with this one. It can def be read as a stand-alone. Let me just say… Audrey Rush has moved to the top of my favorite authors! The story, character dynamic, the interaction/tension between Sawyer and Fiona 😮‍💨. I just love the dark romance books where the guy sees the girl and immediately says she is his and he will have her no matter what… because like why can’t I find one of those in real life? When he started shutting her out because he didn’t want her to find out about the things he did it had me screaming inside! I’m sure it was to protect her from others finding out how much she meant to him but 😩.
I love the characters in this book. Let’s face it, you can’t have an obsessive, unhinged, and controlling MMC without a rebellious MFC who thrives on defying him! Also, every girl wants a library though right???

ARC Read!
This book (and duet as a whole) was exactly what I needed, been in such a bad reading slump but devoured this.

This is the second book in a duet, focusing on the siblings from the first one - Sawyer and Fiona. They met years ago and Sawyer has been watching from afar ever since. Fiona lives her life trying to make sure that she doesn't let down other people, while Sawyer does what he wants to make sure his business succeeds.

• Touch her and die

• Play a game and win a prize sort of relationship

I love my men morally grey and Sawyer definitely lives up to that, as well as being the protective MMC we all need.

I really enjoyed how Fiona was Innocent but that didn't make her a 'weak' character, she was still able to stand up for what she wanted but also be vulnerable.

Absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more from Audrey.

Can you keep a secret? Can you love unconditionally? Can you look past what the love of your life does in order to give you the best? How loyal are you? While reading this book these are the question you will ask yourself. And why? Why am I wiling to look past death murder judgement of the one I love. To be made to feel things and second guess them to think am I worth all this? Is he worth all this. Audrey Rush is by far one of the best authors I have ever read from. Not only is her mind crazy she can put it all out in a book and make you feel like it you that is going thru it all. This book will have you second guessing you self and will make you wonder could I live like that? Could I be part of something like this?

I received an ARC copy of this book from Audrey Rush and I devoured it. Much like all of her books, it sucked me into the crazy twisted storyline, with some of the best tropes.

Fiona is a quiet librarian who finds herself in the radar of Sawyer. You remember him, right? The soulless brother to Wilder from Drowning Her? Well, she happens to be Maisie’s sister…yep. Under the guise of helping Fiona at the library he just bought (yep he’s OBSESSED with her), Sawyer starts his little “game” with Fiona.

It’s spicy and suspenseful, and darkly delicious!

My actual rating would be a 4.5 only because it took me a smidge to get into the story, but then I couldn’t put it down!

This is Book 2 of The Dark Assassins Duet, and it focuses on Fiona (the FMC and Maisie's sister) and Sawyer (the MMC and Wilder's brother). (Maisie and Wilder were the main characters in Book 1.) Sawyer is a manipulative jerk in this book, and it was absolutely delicious. As for Fiona, I found her frustrating at times, but she eventually grew on me. I don’t want to give too much away, and while this is listed as a slow burn, I devoured it in a day. It’s a great mix of plot, spice, and character development. I would definitely recommend it! This was a perfect wrap up to the series.

I have never read anything by Audrey before and I don't know why I haven't picked up a book sooner!

This is a re-release with a new title, in a stand alone duet. I have not read the first book in the duet, but I didn't feel like you had to.

Sawyer is such a messed up dude who has so much passion when it comes to Fiona. This is a fast paced, dark/horror romance with so much spice! The way that Sawyer is obsessed with Fiona, he would do anything for her. As Fiona steps into her own, she quickly finds out that she would do anything for Sawyer. The dynamic between these two was everything!

Check those triggers as always!

Thank you to Booksirens and Audrey for the ARC.

This book is a re-release of Audrey Rush's novel "His Twisted Game". It is part of a series but is a standalone as well. This novel focuses on the Feldman brother, sawyer, and the girl he wants to destroy, Fiona. Fiona and Sawyer originally meet over five years ago, and now re-meet at Maisie (Fiona's younger sister) and Wilder's (Sawyer's older brother) one year wedding anniversary celebration. Sawyer vows to himself that he is going to break Fiona, but we learn what really happens as Fiona and Sawyer play a game with high stakes as you read. This was an easy five out of five. I loved every minute! I am just sad this is the end of the Feldman Assassin brother's story!

I had already met Sawyer in the previous book. So I already liked him because I knew there was more to him than meets the eye. But I didn't realize just how much more there was to him and his story. Fiona irritated me at some points. How do you not speak up to at least your sister when you're getting death threats. Erika was a total plot twist to me. I mean I had a feeling something was up with her but I wasn't expecting that. This book wasn't as dark as the first one. And it's not as dark as previous books I've read by this author. But I still enjoyed it.

We had glimpses of Fiona and Sawyer in book one so I was excited to learn more about them. Sawyer and Fiona met five years ago. She doesn't remember because she drank too much, but Sawyer has been obsessed with her since. Sawyer buys the library she works at and starts playing a "game" with her. I likedthis book but I feel like while reading I unfairly kept comparing this couple to the couple from book 1 who I really loved. I liked how Fiona was determined to be independent. I did figure out the twist early on, but didn't mind that. This can be read as a standalone but I would def recommend reading book 1 before this one.

How this woman keeps making me fall in love with these morally BLACK, unhinged men is beyond me but now I think Sawyer is my favorite of all! To have a man as touched as him fall in love and shift his heart the way he did was just everything to me. And to actually give him the woman we’d least expect to be able to love him back 👌🏾🥰🙌🏾 I also love when authors make their characters book girlies but a librarian❤️ yup loved it! So sweet so innocent, so ready to be turnt up , o it & every way but loose😛 Thank you Audrey for the opportunity to ARC for your re-realesed works. I now have to read all of them because I know there’s more goodness that awaits🥰😘

I liked Fiona from the little glimpse we got in Drowning her but I hated Sawyer so I went into Degrading her expecting to maybe tolerate him at most. Well boy was I wrong. He won me over and is now my favorite Feldman brother (sorry Wilder). Fiona and Sawyer are perfect together and earned a well deserved happy ending even if it took almost dying to get there.

Now Erica.... I knew that B**** was up to something from the jump and getting to see Fiona put her down to save Sawyer was an absolute blast.

So I’ll start off by saying I usually like my romance books EXTREMELY dark. This one isn’t ask dark as I usually go for, but I didn’t care one bit. One word out of the giant teddy bear Sawyer’s mouth and I come running. Man. If I could find me one of them… I’d be unstoppable.

I’m not surprised that this book is genius, however, because Audrey Rush has written it. Need I say more? Happily adding this to my book journal directly after posting this review.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review delightfully and voluntarily.
