Life is strategy, and she’s played the game well, right up until her father decides to use her as a pawn in his next business merger.
Aiden Gage, cocky, infuriating, too damn good-looking for his own good, has been a thorn in her side since the day they met. A farmer with dirt under his fingernails and a smirk permanently fixed to his lips. He is the exact opposite of everything her world expects.
Which makes him the perfect lie.
The deal between them is simple.
The rules are clear.
The stakes? Higher than either of them ever anticipated.
But the more you pretend, the harder is to remember it's not real.
And sometimes pretending reveals truths you never saw coming.
We go back to the Gage Family Farm in this second book in the Northwood Dale Series, and this time it’s Aiden’s story.
So we pick back up with the Gage boys, and we find Aiden still living and working on their family farm, alongside his Dad, Ben. We also find him still pining after new to town Alex, who still doesn’t give in to his flirting.
When Alex finds her private life is now part of her Dads business plans, Aiden steps in to help as a fake fiancé and has to use his natural charm and personality to get them both out of their sticky situations. What follows is a story of them both facing some truths and figuring out what they really want in their lives going forward and how they might achieve it. There is also the fact of the growing chemistry between them to add some sparks!
I really enjoyed Aiden and Alex’s story and seeing how good they were for each other. They bicker, banter, and push each others buttons, but it is so right for them and their dynamic. There were some really great heartfelt moments alongside some hilarious banter and, of course, some delicious spicy scenes. Edith was also a great character, and I loved her meddling.
I am really intrigued now about the final book, Bens story, and I am so excited to read it!
