Ash Aldrich forged a legend with his soul hammer, Roq. Now, the real fight begins.
A newly-minted Hammerlord, Ash, finally has a home of his own and a party he’d fight and die for. The next chapter in his life is about to start, but along with that come many responsibilities, like…where do they put the monster trophies? And who gets what room? Sometimes it is good to have simple problems as every new dawn somehow piles on more and more dangers on his plate.
House Domitius is still coming for the smithy and for Ash’s parents. They will stop at nothing, when a familiar face returns with reinforcement, even bending the guild and bank to their whim, or using deadly force.
The Hive Mind unleashes newly evolved horrors at Sentinel Station, and every new wave is more dangerous than the last. Holding the monsters back only serves to prolong the Dawnwatch’s fall, but there’s not much they can do with an even greater threat looming Riftside. Something is picking off adventuring teams one by one, and leaving no witnesses. Peace has become a luxury no one in Dawnwatch can afford.
But the greatest challenge may even come from within, as Roq demands his own breakthrough, and the party weighs on keeping him secret from even Nabeeh and their closest allies.
Fans of Riftside 1 will devour this explosive sequel. If you crave relentless progression, strategic party combat, epic loot, and a crafting system with real stakes, your next addiction is here.
The Riftside war is escalating. Don't get left behind
Wow! Book 2! Soooooooo freakintastic! This seems to be building up to one of the best trilogies evarrr! I would've liked to listen to the audio by Soundbooth Theater, but it was unavailable, poo! But when I see that moarr words are in the wild, I can't help myself I just gotta read 'em. Yeah, Ash and his team are powering up, and Eryn is next in line to achieve her Class! And with Roq's help looting is even more lucrative, as he can point out the monster corpses that hold mind gems. So yeah Ash's team is really cleaning up. And Ash's Pa has it good by Smithing the monster parts brought back, making rare and legendary armor and weapons!!! And wow, Roq is awesome a Soul Weapon that thinks, a Smithing Hammer! Together Ash and Roq not only slay monsters, but they to craft along side his Pa! Both Smithing legendary gear! And now there's Arclight another Soul Forged Weapon, Eryn's Bow! And man, Roq and Arclight squabble like children! Too funny 🤣. Yeah you're gonna hafta grab the book to see what Hive Mind and noble House Domitius are up to!
Here's some quotes for y'all:
Maybe they eat too much cheese? Cheese makes creatures strong, yes-yes! Very strengthening!"
"Hammer wants to bonk powerful monsters. Drink blood. Grow stronger.”
“Her singing sounds remarkably like a mating call for monsters.”
"Revenge is a dish well made with rat.”
“Blood and breakage! Again! Do it again! Oh, wait, you can’t, but we need to do this again! I love it! It’s like drinking a cocktail of mixed milks and pies!”
It appears that proofreading Is a lost art ! The story itself It's worth 5 stars but Silly mistakes It breaks you from the story And causes frustration. Most of the mistakes are Regressive stats and the inability to use a calculator. In chapter 11 The character sheet showed A set of stars, Then in 20 They showed even less stats than before And the numbers didn't add up to the total , This was recurring theme throughout. There was an extreme saving grace though...all I will say is "meow, meow, meow".
You know how there's a lot of times a "book 2 slump" with series? Yah, not happening here! Continued action and humor abound, and things keep heating up as the Hive Mind keeps trying to get Roq brought back to the fold whether he likes it or not. Then there's the noble buggers up to their shenanigans! The team just can't catch a break! But they're up to the task! To quote the great MC Hammer "It's hammer time!"
Another great entry. This book has everything that the previous book had that made it so fun. There is funny banter, fast advancement and an immersive world to visit. The plot was engaging. The climax got a little chaotic. I wish events would have unfolded more straight-forward. Team-rocketing antagonists are also kind of annoying. I generally enjoy resolution and then moving onto the next arc. I am still excited to see what happens next.
Great continuation of the series . Read the first book on MY ,realigning a whim , loved it when then grabbed book 2 . Everything has developed really well , characters are balanced and the developing story arcs are top notch. Loved that the MC is developing but.isn't seriously OP , a typical litrpg problem .overall highly recommend
The pacing of Riftside 2 was exciting, setting Ash against both human and monstrous threats. The stats added to the story without consuming it. Great installment.
Fast paced, good characters and they evolve. Magic framework seems well set-up and stays consistent. Martial framework could use some help but its not terrible. Epilogue is actually not bad. We're not left as happy as I might want but for now we're at a good resting place
I Absolutely enjoyed this book from start to finish; it was extremely hard to put down. The pacing was really good, and the character building, just like the first one, was excellent. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.
Awesome once again I really struggled to put this one down in just had to know what ash and his party would do and what amazing gear they would create next
