You ain’t gonna like the male character, he is not a nice exemplar of humans. But you will believe that he is real, and you will want to know what will happen with the ‘perfect’ couple. And that end. Yes! This is how it should be.

I thought the premise of this book was interesting, and it was a quick, easy read that held my attention. But the typos and grammatical errors were a huge distraction for me. This book needs to be proofread and edited.

It is hard to believe that this book was written by a woman. The way that Paul Davis described women (for what seemed like every chapter) was appalling and overall unnecessary to get the point across that he doesn't respect them. Additionally, the beginning of the book felt to drag on describing the exact same scenarios over and over again. With that being said, the ending was rushed and predictable. I finished this booking hoping that throughout the chapters it would redeem itself but it never did. 1/5 stars is generous.

insane plot, and insane how everything played out. i certainly did not see a lot of things coming. the writing was very addicting and makes you not want to put it down. unfortunately all of the characters were so ungodly unbearable. and the ending/ last two chapters were laaameeeee. great ideas, i just think they could've been executed better

"𝐍𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐞, 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝."

Paul and Amanda Davis are icons in the Los Angeles social scene. They have a beautiful home, and each is enjoying a thriving career; Amanda as an ER nurse and Paul as the charismatic, handsome lead of the evening news AND a special after-show.

After leaving a star-studded event at which Paul enjoyed several drinks and was the keynote speaker, Paul confidently climbs behind the wheel, even though Amanda said she should be driving. His hubris will be his downfall. On the way home, a figure shrouded in darkness appears before them, and before Paul can react, the pedestrian is dead.

Thinking only of himself and his reputation, Paul coerces his wife to help him move the body, tossing it down a ravine. Has he just made Amanda his accomplice?

I read a lot of thrillers, and it takes a lot to shock me. There are SO many layers of deceit and deception in this plot, and there is one character in particular that I absolutely loathed. I so enjoyed the trickery and seeing a certain someone get what was deserved. This book is available now on KU and in paperback.

My mother taught me to say nothing if I have nothing nice to say, so, I was going to say nothing, but I'm compelled to warn others about the gross misrepresentation in the ratings. This book read like a 16 year old "with a passion" for writing sat down one weekend and pushed out her first "novel". Drivel. Don't bother.

I’ve read a few of Wolfe books. I really like this author. It’s a simple theme yet it pulls you in for the ride. The arrogant husband hits and kills a woman while drunkenly driving home after a huge fundraiser for drunk driving!! There is a really good twist at the end!

This was no bueno.

The characters were insufferable. Paul was awful and Amanda had no depth. Leave your husband. Okay so he has a video of you puking bc you drank too much? Leave him! That shouldn’t hold so much power over you.

And then so many loose ends. Uhh Amanda goes home with some guy, kills him, stuffs him in a freezer and we don’t hear what happens? She’s off easy peasy bc of the deal?

Ugh I just didn’t like this book. How is it 4 stars?

Not very good. I struggled with this one. Almost DNF’d. The characters were flawed and it was extremely unrealistic even for fiction. The MMC was Paul Davis. Famous news anchor in LA, extremely handsome and narcissistic. He was emotionally abusive towards his wife and other women. He was entitled and downright awful. Then there is the wife Amanda. An ER nurse who was weak. She was afraid or terrified the entire book, so annoying. One fateful evening after a big fundraiser an event happens that changes their lives to live on edge and not trust each other. Amanda was already done with Paul prior to this happening. But she lived more in fear instead of just moving out and taking her son with her. All Paul does is throw his pathetic “fame” around and use people to his benefit. At one point Amanda decides to cheat on her husband only to be almost r@Ped but the guy falls down the stairs and died. Instead of calling the police and explaining self defense, she calls the man she’s trying to divorce????? It made about zero sense. The story only continues to go downhill from there. It was choppy, strange and boring. Two thumbs down 👎🏻 👎🏻

This was a slow burn and I’m glad I’ve finished it. It had potential and kept me entertained just enough to finish it.

Ben sevdim. 🤌

I thought I was going to enjoy this book more than I actually did. Now, don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, but the depths in which this couple was messed up and disturbed just got on my nerves, lol! They partly stressed me and partly just irritated me. 😤 The ending is what made me round up the stars to 4!! I loved the ending!

Oh boy. Another thriller that I want to skip to the end to find out what happens but at the same time I know that you aren't ment to have dessert before your main course and guess what? you are in for a real treat with this book. I love how the author sucks you into the story with everything that the characters are going through, it means you can't put the book down until you find how they are going to get out of it. There is always a twist that you don't see coming and no matter how many books by this author you have read, she always manages to surprise you with the ending and keeps you thinking about it long after you have finished reading it. I can't wait for the next book.
What happens when a secret has your life imploding? Would you tell? This is the question Amanda finds herself asking. One wet fateful late night has Amanda covering up an accident for her husband but as the lies get more and more the harder life becomes and tension between the happy couple starts to show but who will be the first to crack and what will that mean for her and her family?

Leslie Wolfe sure writes a twisty thriller. You know who did it, but did it all happen the way you think? I have read others from her, and they all hold your interest for sure...

‘A Beautiful Couple’ is an enjoyable short read.

Los Angeles is the host of a famous couple that is much more troubled than the public eye can ever know. Nobody can learn the secrets they keep in their private lives… especially the murder and cover-up of an innocent victim.

Amanda Davis wanted to be the good person, but she becomes an unwilling accomplice to her husbands cover-up of this murder. How will things play out? Will her big shot TV anchor husband redeem himself and keep his family safe?

A multi-perspective story based on deception and untold truths, the story is told pretty well with a good enough twist in the end. The characters are okay, but Paul Davis (husband) is such an insanely irredeemable A-hole that goes above and beyond what is necessary to show his character.

It was good not great, I definitely enjoyed it more since I was in Pasadena while reading the book.

The “Beautiful Couple”, Paul and Amanda Davis, are a vital part of the LA social scene. He is a local tv anchor and she is an ER nurse. Their marriage, publicly, looks good, privately not so much. She has asked for a divorce and he told her she would lose everything including their young son. The night of a charity banquet he is served more than a sensible amount of alcohol and although she only drank water, he drove home. It was raining, the roads were dark and winding. They hit a woman. This is when the trouble starts. It involves secrets and lies coupled with blackmail and murder along with an ending the reader will long remember. Thanks to the author and publisher for a DRC for an honest review.

This book had me HOOKED the whole time. The different points of view worked together to create a great, intense story where you never knew if they would figure it out or not! The end did feel a little bit neat and tidy, but other than that, I think it built the story well. Highly recommend if you’re into mystery/thriller type books!

In a word, insufferable. I kept reading thinking it might get better. It didn’t. I guessed the twist, revealed at the end, the second it happened (at the beginning). I found the characters unoriginal and uninspiring, the plot implausible and, honestly, ridiculous. Zero depth in the whole thing. I’m not at all sure why I finished this book (because I have not yet dnf’d a book—why start now?) but I can’t in good conscience recommend it. There are much better psychological thrillers out there and this one just didn’t fit the bill. I don’t usually leave reviews but I just cannot wrap my head around the 4+ average rating on this one (probably a me problem)—everything about it didn’t hit right for me.

I really enjoyed this right up until the end. I was rooting for the female main character and against the male. It kept me reading and I enjoyed the different perspectives. However, the ending was just a little too far fetched for me.

it was fine

Overall the book was… fine. Hated the husband from the beginning, he was a schmuck through and through. Seems like the whole book was a build up to what could have been a big plot twist, but it fell totally flat. Plus there were mistakes in the details (what time the rain started, for example), which I find annoying when detectives are looking for any tiny clue. Just overall very underwhelming.

I barely finished this book… I thought the number grammatical errors were distracting. Many many plot holes and discrepancies between chapters. The author spent about half of the book explaining Pauls distain for women, which could have been minimized and still got the point across, however i feel like most of the book was spent on that, rather than the plot/ending. This book was way too predicitable and I guessed the ending half way through the book.

DISAPPOINTING

I couldn't wait for this one to be finished and I don't understand all the 5 star reviews. No doubt Amanda's husband was a total jerk but who would believe that he could take her son away, there wasn't any reason to. What happened to the hunky doctor? suddenly he was written out of the book. Not interesting definitely not as advertised

Stunning!

Leslie Wolfe has gifted us with an incredibly stunning nail-biter of a thriller! “A Beautiful Couple” is complex and compelling, with twist after twist, lie upon lie, and one deception after another! Oh - and enough surprises to keep a reader’s head spinning! ER nurse, Amanda, is trying to divorce her cheating, narcissistic, TV anchor husband, Paul. Aside from his refusal to divorce making her life complicated, a drunken hit-and-run followed by coverup on top of coverup threaten to unravel Amanda’s life completely. Should she report the accident and let Paul face the consequences, or should she help him get away with the hit-and-run, and use it as leverage to get the divorce and sole custody of their son? What about the act of violence she commits after her almost rape by a stranger she met at a bar? So many things in their life are falling apart as Amanda and Paul frantically try to protect themselves from the police … and each other. Both have secrets to use as ammunition against each other, to save their own skins. The question is, will both Amanda and Paul go down as the police figure things out, or will one of them turn on the other? That’s only one of the things you’ll try to figure out. But there’s more - so much more! Like the memory of Marisol that haunts Amanda; and the mystery of who the hit-and-run victim was. Leslie Wolfe is masterful at spinning a thrilling tale, and “A Beautiful Couple” is one of her best! This is my honest review, after receiving an ARC.

Rich people and murder

A Beautiful Couple by Leslie Wolfe

This is a long domestic thriller with a dark tone at times. I was surprised by the book's length, but something kept me engaged throughout. The story revolves around Paul, a popular news host, and his wife, Amanda, who works in the ER at a hospital. Everyone views this beautiful couple as perfect and as benevolent individuals. But Paul is quite unlikable character; he has no respect for women, and his celebrity status has inflated his ego. He believes he can escape any trouble.

The book effectively portrays the superficial lives of the wealthy and celebrities, highlighting the false image they project as philanthropists and good citizens, while in reality, they are indifferent to the struggles of others.

When Paul accidentally kills a woman with his car, Amanda becomes the only witness. She sees the darker side of her husband, and she must make a difficult decision: tell the truth or protect him for the sake of their son, Tristan.

I appreciated a couple of twists in the story, although some resolutions seemed too coincidental or driven by personal vendetta. It is easy to read, and the ending is satisfying. 4/5 stars
