A regency-inspired romantic fantasy of courtly intrigue, forbidden love, and slow-burn devotion—told through a gripping dual POV narrative.
Lord Veluar Glinfiel was never meant to leave the Queen Regent’s side. But love, when entangled with duty, demanded distance—and silence. She was not supposed to know. So he chose exile, hoping time would quiet what honour could not contain.
Now, called back to court by the Queen he never stopped loving, Veluar finds the realm teetering on the edge of chaos. Their enemies lurk in the shadows, but at the vanguard stands Lord Arneyde: the kingdom’s deadliest duellist, a man who would challenge the Devil himself if it meant watching the crown crumble. He slithers through the halls of power, blackmailing the nobility into submission. Whispers of rebellion coil like serpents—and the attacks on Glinfiel himself prove the throne is no longer safe.
Time is running out. As Arneyde’s schemes tighten like a noose around Lady Quindan’s reign, Veluar must outmaneuver traitors and decipher friend from foe—all while protecting the woman he vowed to serve, and the love he swore to deny.
We are two co-authors of romantic fantasy woven with political intrigue, slow-burning passion, and high-stakes power struggles. Our stories blend Regency-inspired court drama, epic fantasy landscapes, and emotionally charged relationships, creating worlds where love and ambition collide.
Our goal is to craft stories that make you fall in love, hold your breath, and linger in your mind long after the last page is turned.
"The flow of time turned unbearably, excruciatingly slow; she gave him a thousand chances to refuse, but how could he? His Queen, his greatest treasure in this world, his untouchable goddess, suddenly touched him of her own accord. So how could he?" (Ch 1)
For a short book, this is a pretty heavy read that focuses on political and court diplomacy, intrigues, and dealings. I felt myself struggling with it at first. However, it was the interaction between Glinfiel and the Queen that kept me reading. Their spark moments and promise of intimacy and romance -- despite Glinfiel's rather composed dutiful demeanor and appearance -- was the redeeming factor. The hope that she could break his composure and make him lose control, ever in the back of my mind. As the story progressed with a high-stakes duel at dawn, a menacing threat to the kingdom and the queen, and a spy, the interest piqued a bit more. I do wish there was more to the romance and relationship, more depth, and feeling. The story also seemed close-ended, even though it says book 1.
This novel is like aged wine: bold, rich in flavor, and with a lingering aftertaste. It’s not merely a love story but a saga of two lonely hearts finding each other amid the ruins of the past and the intrigues of the present.
Its strength lies in the gradual unfolding of the protagonists’ emotions, where passion walks hand in hand with duty, and tenderness intertwines with pain.
The prose is yet another reason to marvel. The language envelops the reader like a warm sea breeze or a crisp mountain wind, shifting with the mood of each scene. And how it plays with emotions! Shaliyah’s line—“And what of a farewell kiss, Veluar?”—purrs like a cat yet carries the sharpness of a blade, alluring and wounding at the same time. Even in the heat of battle, where “steel met steel, striking sparks in the air,” the words flow rhythmically, like the pounding of a heart, leaving the reader breathless.
What truly captivates is the author’s ability to find poetry in the smallest details: the scent of oranges, the rustle of Shaliyah’s dress, Glinfiel’s cooling hands… These nuances come alive, transforming into something far greater than mere imagery.
In short, this is a novel to be savored and revisited. I recommend it to anyone who cherishes the way words on a page can make a heart skip a beat.
I had the wonderful opportunity to read the Arc of this book. The authors did a wonderful job for a debut fantasy novel 💗 The plot twist at the end was lwk unexpected. The book is a lil different from what I usually read but it was a wonderful experience. Thank you Agatha for the arc (this is my first arc too so I'm extraa grateful to you hehe). Congrats on the release tomorrow !!!! (I'm sorryy i got late w review coz unfortunately I was in a reading slump :((( Buy yeah thank you again for the Arc <3333
Firstly, a warm thank you to Agathe Moire for sending me an ARC in exchange for a review.
This is a high fantasy debut that doesn’t rush to sweep you into its world—it invites you in slowly, with purpose. At first, I wasn’t quite sure where I was being led. But then, somewhere around the halfway mark, the narrative opened up like a trapdoor. I fell—fully and wonderfully—into the heart of the story.
If Charlotte Brontë had ever turned her hand to fantasy, I imagine it would read something like this: restrained yet romantic, emotionally charged, laced with a sharp understanding of power, perception, and inner conflict. There’s more psychological tension than bloodshed here—think strategic warfare, political intricacies, and enough longing between characters to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Lord Glinfiel is a highlight. His quiet obsession with Shaliyah practically hums off the page, and their dynamic is pure, delicious tension. A slow burn, yes—but a deeply satisfying one, built on intelligence and unspoken glances rather than grand declarations.
And the twist. I won’t spoil it, but: holy hell.
It’s a story that lingers after the final page, and I found myself wondering about the history that came before. I’d love to see a prequel exploring the rise and fall of Lord Quindan—there’s so much rich ground there still waiting to be unearthed.
If you’re in the mood for a fantasy novel that builds slow but burns bright, Lady Quindan’s Councillor is well worth your time.
This fantasy was kind of different from the fantasy books I normally read. Was it bad? No! I liked it very much. I needed a bit of time to get into the story. But when I was throught the first 50 pages or so I was hooked! The book itself isn't very long, 209 pages, so for me it was a fast read in one sitting. After the first 50 pages of really getting used to the writingstyle and learning about the world it took place, the story took a really nice turn on me. I loved how devoted Glinfiel was to the queen and the kingdom itself. The twists and turns the book took kept me on edge throughout the story.
Thank you Agathe Moire for this ARC to read and review.
Thanks to the author for the ARC! Lady Quindan's Councillor is a high fantasy romance novella with political intrigue and ruthless power games.
This book owns the slow-burn, yearning, "we could but we won’t" type of dynamic. If you love political intrigue with tension so thick it’s practically its own character, Lady Quindan’s Councillor is for you.
Veluar Glinfiel, former First Councillor, is at his lowest—disgraced, exiled, and full of regret. But Lady Quindan, a noblewoman who plays the game better than anyone, refuses to let him fade into obscurity. She pulls him back into the court’s deadly power struggles, and from there, it's a masterclass in strategy, betrayal, and the art of survival.
What I liked : The slow burn 🔥: Every glance, every conversation, every choice they make is charged. It’s all about restraint, power shifts, and the weight of what isn’t said. The politics ⚔️ : Courtly backstabbing at its finest. The Queen Regent’s rule is crumbling, and everyone wants a piece of the throne. Mind games & manipulation. Every conversation is layered with double meanings. Trust no one. Schemes, betrayals, and power plays. If you love watching smart characters outmaneuver each other, this book delivers. Age gap ❤️(but subtle): Veluar is older, worn down by his past failures, while Quindan is sharp, ruthless, and always in control. It’s not mentor/student, but there’s an experience imbalance that makes their dynamic even more interesting.
What I didn't like: ✖ The pacing drags a bit in the middle, but the payoff is worth it. ✖ If you need action-packed battles, this might not be for you—it’s more strategy than swordplay.
Tropes: 📚 Slow burn 📚 Low spice 📚 Age gap 📚 Morally grey MCs 📚 Political intrigue

Glinfiel's love for Lady Quindan grips my heart tightly and threatens to never let go. I love the forbidden aspect of their love affair, his yearning for her and desire to worship her for all eternity. The action scenes between Glinfiel and various assassins had me on the edge of my seat!
I love all the detail in each scene, it is well done. This was my first time with a regency-style story with political intrigues. This is only my personal opinion but it was a bit difficult for me to get through. I looked forward to getting back to the action and mystery. People who enjoy more of the political and regency style will most definitely enjoy this! Thank you for allowing me to read your book, Agathe Moire! I appreciate the opportunity to adventure into new territories and tropes! I know the readers who enjoy this style will have them turning those pages so quickly!
ENG The first volume in this series is set in an imaginary kingdom populated mainly by elves. The main character, Lord Veluar Glinfel, is the queen's councilor. However, he decides to leave the court because for a long time he had feelings for the queen and no longer wants to live with the conflict between his duty and his desire for her. When Lady Quindan, the regent of Ilva Essari, learns of his decision, she makes a bold move that might be considered a bit unfair. She approaches Veluar. Meanwhile, there is an air of revolt in the kingdom. Lady Quindan has never been well accepted because she belongs to a family of elves considered "enemies." After her husband's death, tensions flare up again. Lord Glinfiel senses that something dark is about to happen. The novel follows the relationship between Lady Quindan and Veluar, intertwined with the mystery of the revolt. It is a slow build, but there is little character development. I found the characters frustrating and irritating, often incompetent and useless. Paradoxically, the "villains" are much more interesting; their motivations are more complex and believable. As a book with elves as protagonists, I expected something more epic or magical. Instead, it is a novel of court intrigue with pointy ears. There are only two battles, and the tone is more political than fantastical. I had even forgotten that it was the first in a series. However, unless the next volumes tell completely different stories, there are no real points of development for a sequel. On a positive note, the cover is awesome! I received a free copy of this book through Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review
What will you really expect from a book that started off with YEARNING?! This book delivered much more than that! This book was written in such detail, you'll be captivated by even the description of the surroundings. .. The Elven kingdoms with their mix of regency society customs will give you a sense of familiarity and intrigue alike. . THE POLITICS. Let's just talk about that. I've never read anything remotely more interesting politically in a very long time. The authors wrote each scene, each debate, each scheme with such detail - it felt like I was present there myself. .. The perfect mix of romance with the intrigue of the court. The motives of the past, the schemes, the betrayals, the suspense - it kept me so hooked, I literally finished it in one day. .. The suspense and intrigue in every scene will keep you moving until you'll lose count of the pages. At first glance the book might look mild but as it progresses, the hidden meanings and clues just leave you astonished. I honestly don't have more words for this masterpiece! .. If you're a fan of the regency era with political intrigues you'll love this (I mean it!! ) If you're a fan of action, although this book is more politically inclined - the scenes that ARE there are so worth it!! .. Veluar Glinfiel was a man of honour. His loyalty, his integrity, his love were such a beautiful thing to read. The way the authors summed up his entire life for us in this small book is so amazing. This man right here is the supreme example of "I can love you my whole life and you'll never know" Ufff !! the yearning>>> .. Shaliyah was a strong woman. A weaker woman can't rule above all and still stands for so long. She was a woman who was ready to throw everything away for her beloved. Her dynamic with Glinfiel was the kind of beautiful that left an ache behind. .. Each character was written to perfection! There was not a single one that left you wanting more. Such beautiful words ! .. Thank you for granting me the ARC of this book! This is my purely non-biased honest review !!
First of all, thank you to the author for trusting me with the ARC.
My initial and overall reaction: In the first few pages you will hear your sixth sense whispering you that not everything is alright as it seems. And the culprit who is behind all of these betrayals(that would be happening) was name-sprinkled quite a few times in the book. Their body language(of what is described in the book) and some of their activities seem quite absurd and insolent towards the main characters. Also like till the end you will question who is the actual culprit.
Regarding the MC's: The FMC here was very very feministic according to her era. She is bold, headstrong and is self-assured in her charm and powers that she possesses. I really admired her graceful way of telling her opponent to kindly see himself out. Really felt bad when she was feeling helpless and alone. The MMC was literally a love-starved man who had loved his beloved for so many years in silence and maintaing secrecy of his true feelings. Once he got to hold her and taste being with her, he knew that he would never be able to control himself. He does everything he can to protect her.
Regarding the MC's romantic setting: I loved their sweet, regency era-ed romance. It was pure, poetic and gentle. At the same time some of the moments were sensual and swoonworthy. <3
Conclusion: The book builds up a mystical and intriguing atmosphere as we venture further into it. Special mention to the court politics going on. I feel like that was the heart of the book. Loved the writing of the politics related scenes. Also loved the descriptions of the various places. Would have also loved to know the magical history the MC's possessed. I was always at peace and in a state of tranquility whilst reading this book. Overall a 5 stars read for me.

This story had some really interesting ideas, and I can see a lot of potential in the author’s writing. I did find myself wishing for a bit more depth when it came to the characters—they felt a little flat at times, and their backstories didn’t get quite enough time to develop, which made it harder to connect with them. The dialogue was also a bit flowery in places, which sometimes pulled me out of the moment.
The world-building had a familiar feel, and while it touched on some classic elements, I was hoping for something a bit more unique to really make it stand out.
The villain reveal and the plot didn’t fully work for me, and the love story felt a little rushed. Even though the narrator mentioned a long-standing crush, I didn’t quite feel that tension or slow build-up, which could have made the romance more powerful.
That said, the author clearly has talent and creativity, and with a little more focus on character growth, pacing, and emotional buildup, I think they could craft something really special. I’m looking forward to seeing how their writing continues to grow!
Overall, I would rate this 3 stars! (How I rate is in my bio)
I'm so glad I was picked for this arc. The language of this book is beautiful and clearly written for high fantasy. The politics are heavy and intricate but compelling, and as we go along the story we learn just how few we can trust with our lovely protagonists.
The characterisation in this book is almost flawless. It makes total sense for a man with such loyalty to the crown would baulk at impropriety, especially with the Queen Regent. He would have held forever, and it's clear he never would have crossed that line were she not the one to drag him over it. That kind of realistic personality is rare and shines throughout the book.
Velular battles with his wants and his duties and whether he is fit for either of them. The shadow of the past looms over them all, and it's that shadow that ultimately causes them strife. These two aren't kept apart. They want and need from the start of the book, it is the danger around them that keeps them from each other's arms. Duty to their nation, to the future, comes before their feelings.
I am not a big fan of the fantasy genre, but I received my copy for review and read it with interest. Let's be honest, we came here for romance and you can get it here quite well. Basically, the one responsible for it is the main character, tormented by one-sided (as he himself thinks) love for the heroine. As we all know, if to love - then to love a queen, and so he did according to wisdom. And throughout the book we can have the pleasure of watching how someone extremely beautiful constantly saves the queen from all the misfortunes in the world, so that the queen can no longer deny the beauty of what is happening. In short, adventures are also provided in the plot, which is nice. It would be interesting to know why the heroine initially chose her first husband over the main character, I hope the author will reveal a little bit more of this story. In general - easy and romantic reading to distract from everyday life.
A huge thank you for letting me be an ARC reader. I'm so grateful I got to read this early! 🙏🏻
I really enjoyed the book overall. The world is detailed and interesting, and the relationship between Lady Quindan and Lord Glinfiel is full of emotion and tension. There's a great mix of politics, loyalty, yearning, and slow-burn romance that kept me hooked.
That said, there were parts where the language felt a bit too fancy or overdone for me. I think this comes to each one's taste, and it made some scenes a little bit more complicated from my perspective. The prologue was especially long—I think starting with a more exciting or emotional moment would have hooked me quicker.
Still, once I got into it, I was really invested. The story has depth, the characters feel real, and there’s a lot to enjoy here.
I definitely recommend this book, especially if you love fantasy with politics, drama, romance, and strong characters.
PD: I'm OBSESSED with the book cover, it's stunning
I feel this book gives me a whole different vibes that what im used to - elegant, regal, centuries old vibe, politically and power invested. Though it took me a while to settle down and get used to the characters, surroundings, and backgrounds, i love how discreet and how professional both MMC and FMC brought themselves around thier circumstances. Maybe i put too much expectation to see more magic come to live 😂, but all good, i love every magical part and sword mentioned 😂. I feel that it's not my typical tropes of romance-fantasy (or maybe i havent been reading a lot for quite some time now 😂), nonetheless im looking forward to know what's going to happen next. If this is your kind of thing, you'll enjoy every bit of it.
Thank you for the ARC opportunity, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It did take me around 30-40 pages to get truly invested in the book (though it might be due to the almost 3 year old running constantly). After that point i truly got hooked on the book: it had all the ancient elven feel i wanted with what the cover had me expecting, as well as having the regal elegance you would demand from a queen. The fact the male and female main character were putting their jobs and responsibilities before their desires made me root al the more excitedly for them to get their happy ending.
I do tend to read a lot of romance and fantasy with shifters or fae in general and while this was a little less magic centric, i liked that it was still showing me pale of the magic in with the fighting.
I really appreciate getting the opportunity to do an ARC review of this book and will be looking out for more from this author.
*ARC* This was definitely a different kind of fantasy book than I normally find myself reading, but it was really refreshing.
There definitely are a lot of day to day happenings (like meetings, checking records, reading) that occur during this book, which I do think happens in a lot of regency style books, but it can make it a bit hard to read through.
I absolutely love Glinfiel. He was my favorite character. Just his absolute devotion and love for Lady Quindan, it was so beautiful to read. And the tender moments they share is just very sweet.
I was not expecting the plot twists at the end of this book. They were really unexpected, but in a good way. There was an air of mystery and secrets. I thought the last 150 pages had me on the edge of my seat.
I will be honest - I wasn’t sure what i was getting into with this book. It was a relatively short read and full of political court intrigue, which is not my normal cup of tea. That said, i did enjoy the book. I felt a little bit like i was jumping into the middle of the story when i started reading, but I quickly caught up to speed. The attraction between Glinfiel and the queen is established pretty early on and it’s what kept me intrigued. Could Glinfiel overcome his conflicted feelings? It’s a super slow burner, but it builds to a good payoff. As I said its a relatively short read, but I’d happily revisit the lives of Glinfiel and Shaliyah and Derein. It’s mentioned as Book 1, so hopefully we get the chance to visit them again sooner rather than later.
For my fellow bookish girlies who love court intrigue and diplomacy mixed with a bit of romance. For this to be a debut novel, I was immediately drawn into the story and enjoyed the intensity of the story. Lord Glinfiel's obsession and devotion to Shaliyah had me giggling; the slow burn was worth it! There is a lot of strategy in the book as the characters are playing chess, each watching the other two determine their next move. I'm here for the political and psychological warfare.
The author's attention to detail is well done. I could practically use all five senses as I read the book and read the dialogue of the characters. I can't wait to read the next book and delve more into the intricacies of Lord Quindan's fall.
I really enjoyed this book. Lady Quindan's Councillor is a high fantasy novel that is filled with twists and turns. I loved the world building, and I really liked the side characters. Lord Glinfiel's yarning for the Qeen is so beautifully written. He is quiet and ruthless when he has to protect his queen. Shalyah is a strong FMC. She is a powerful mage, and she is ready to do everything for her loved ones. If you love stories with elves and magic, political intrigues, and royalties, this is your book. I also want to thank Ahathe Moire for sending me e ARC of the book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book was written poetically— in an old but elegant style. While I sometimes found myself needing to focus on the language, the consistency of the writing throughout the book was the highlight for me. First Councillor Veluar Glinfiel and Lady Shaliyah Quindan were in love with each other. Really giving “touch her and 💀” vibes.
The story felt like a drag at some points with nothing really happening. I would have loved to see more character development for Shaliyah (and even for the villain, Arneyde). Overall, I enjoyed the book - particularly the writing style.
Thank you authors, Agathe Moire, for gifting me this e-ARC. All opinions of this review is my own.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and I'm choosing to leave an honest review about it.
I really liked the writing in this book and the focus on political intrigue rather battles after battles. There are a few tense moments but it was overall pretty slow and I really liked being pulled into this world.
And the romance between Glenfield and the Queen was really sweet. Packed with restraint, tension, love, respect and concern for each other. You can feel that they would be willing to risk anything for the other.
What attracted me at first in Lady Quindan's Councillor is the beautiful cover. But then I was pulled into the story, which has a lot of court intrigue, espionage, forbidden love and a swoonworthy MMC. The plot is very original and captivating. The world-building is wonderful and exciting. I loved the connection Veluar had with both Queen Shaliyah and her young son, the prince. The story is engaging and romantic and suspenseful at times. It was a delightful read that I very much enjoyed.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There was a lot happening in this political romance and at the same time, not enough. The author skimmed the surface level of the political intrigue, character development and the romantic connection and there were multiple times that I got lost and had to reread because I couldn't stay attentive to the story. There is a lot of potential in the writing, I just wish there was more depth. 3⭐️ 2🌶
Thank you for the opportunity to read this as an ARC.
Arc review 4.5 stars spice 🌶️ this is unlike any fantasy I’ve read. It’s calm slow, and poetic in the best way. Nothing felt rushed. The world felt old and elegant, full of quiet power and soft moments that linger. The politics were interesting but never loud and the romance was full of longing. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t shout ....it leaves a soft thud, like something important just happened, and you have to sit with it.
Loved every moment of this book! Glinfiel is such a wholesome character, and we really need more men like him in today's fantasy/romance genre. The dynamic between him and his Lady was so precious ❤️ The story itself was all it needed to be for a standalone. And the writing was just beautiful. Thank you, Agathe Moire, for this experience!
I received an ARC for this book and it has no impact on my review.
This book is a love story between Shaliyah, the queen and Glinfiel the councillor. Although at first I had struggled with the wording, but once I continued I developed an interest on how the author wove the story that it piqued my interest.
Although this book is a love story, it focuses more on politics and twists.
This novel is akin to a finely aged wine: deep and full of warmth, with a comforting aftertaste that lingers. It’s not just a love story; it’s a heartfelt journey of two lonely souls discovering one another amidst the remnants of their pasts and the complexities of their present lives.
