He’s Alpha royalty. I’m the half-breed, plus-size outcast he bullied and rejected. Carrying his secret twins got me banished from the pack, leaving me to raise them on my own. Now my babies are showing strong signs of magic, and we have to run. And suddenly I’m forced back into the Alpha’s arms…or my babies will die.
Everyone thinks I’m a freak. I can barely hold my wolf, my magic has all but evaporated, and I’m too fat even for a wolf. I’ll still fight for my babies. No matter how hard it is or how badly I’m outnumbered.
Until I crash our car while hunted, and out of the shadows walks the Alpha who broke me… Until he tells me harshly that I’ll come with him whether I want to or not… Until a psychic vision tells me to come with him… I have no choice.
He says he’ll protect me come hell or high water, but I won’t forget how he broke my heart. He demands that I obey his orders, but I can’t hide the shame or pleasure in doing so. He tells me he’ll claim all of me this time. My big, trembling body is putty in his hands…
Am I about to be claimed by the Alpha?
The Alphas of the Nightfire Islands rule their lands with an iron fist, claim their mates with a demanding touch, and kill any enemy that comes even close to the one they love…
I actually liked this more than I thought I would.
We have Alyssa who finds out she’s mated to the future alpha. They are 16 when this happens but the next couple years he becomes her bully even after being mated to her. One night after they turn 18 he sleeps with her. She ends up pregnant but he doesn’t believe her and she’s outcasted from the pack. Has to leave and is left alone to have and raise their children.
So I hated Caleb from jump. Just from Alyssa’s POV I didn’t trust or like him. It took a little while but I did actually end up liking him in the end.
It was different for Alyssa. I felt so bad for all that she had been through. I liked her literally from beginning to end. She actually had a backbone which I appreciated. Even after they slept together after reuniting she didn’t automatically forgive him. I liked that she called him out on his shit.
The miscommunication in this book did get really frustrating though. She told him she was pregnant and he didn’t believe her. But then when they meet again years later he doesn’t think the kids are his and for a lot of the book I’m like why the hell wouldn’t he think the kids were his? It’s revealed later why but they could have had a conversation to clear everything up. They really needed to talk to one another.
I will say that while he seemed dedicated to Alyssa, once he found out the kids were his (past 60%) he didn’t seem too invested in getting to know the kids. Sure he asked for their pictures but he wasn’t dying to spend time with them and I didn’t really like that. Even though the encounters he had with them were really sweet.
At the end though they were a cute family.
Ow drama was short lived. There was a she-wolf who hit on him but he wasn’t interested. He had only ever touched Alyssa and had ever only been interested in Alyssa. We as the readers know this but I do wish he would have expressed this to her. She got back together with him thinking he had been with other people even though we knew he wasn’t. There wasn’t anything to suspect Alyssa had been with anyone else either so I think it’s safe to say they were both celibate during the 3 year separation.
I do wish there was some closure or resolution with Alyssa’s family. We meet them once but I feel like they should have been brought up again.
So I really want to read the next one only because I LOVED Julia. She was one of my favorite characters in this book. But I hated Ethan. He seemed like an asshole and we learn that he had a sexual relationship with the OW mentioned above so I can bet there is going to be some OW drama in their book. But I guess I’ll read it in order to get to Leo’s book because he was one of my favorites as well.
SAFETY:
NO CHEATING NO TRUE OP DRAMA (see above) 3 YEAR SEPARATION (after prologue) FATED MATES CELIBATE MCS (from what I read they haven’t been with anyone else) CURVY FMC HEA
This was ridiculous… like you’re telling me the alpha was unaware that having unprotected sex could result in a pregnancy and so when the fmc tells him she’s pregnant he rejects her and doesn’t believe her bc ain’t no way in his mind... Puh-lease! This was just a standard silly shifter rejection story - nothing to write home about.
So deliciously angsty, great writing and world building and characters that are truly believable.
I absolutely hated how (spoiler impending) she just accepted things the second she realised he didn't believe her though. I get that he didn't have the right biology lessons but where was her pushback that he should just have believed her? Then jumped into spicy scene, and I still hadn't forgiven him. He bullied her, her entire life and suddenly he's forgiven? I needed some more fighting before they got to that. We had 60% of a book worth of angst and the character development had made me start forgiving but that just felt honestly unlikely. He gets to it eventually but she just seemed to blink and forgive based on his ignorance without a good apology or torturing him a bit with the ways he hurt her. I mean we were already ignoring that they're shifters and don't seem to be able to smell family on eachother, but I can get with that given the world itself has some interesting and different rules, but this moment made me MAD. Sure I read angst for exactly that reason but it's only worth it if they PAY in grovel and are tortured by their prior decisions a little first.
That said the end made up for it so hold on if you are mad too, so perfectly written. I often dislike the whole book being based when the FMC already has a kid, but this one actually it didn’t bother me as it was written well enough to overlook the boring kids parts, and the parenting moments that there were also felt believable. Also sometimes find the whole curvy FMC thing a bit over done when used in plots, champion as I am of real women’s bodies it can actually end up triggering when they go on and on about it like sometimes championing it too hard makes it more of a focus and feels less authentic, but in this one it provided a nice bit of plot depth without feeling hammed up. Great writing!
Loved the FMC and MMC by the end! Can’t wait for the other side characters to get their own stories. Literally running to book 2!
Alyssa is cast out of her pack when she confronts the future Alpha and her mate, Caleb, with her pregnancy after their one night together. Three years later she is on the run from the pack she was hiding in when they learned she and her daughter had magic when her mate, Caleb, rescues her and returns her to her birth pack swearing he will protect her but she doesn't trust him. Caleb knows he wronged Alyssa but he will do whatever it takes to win his mate's trust in this electrifying read.
Alyssa and Caleb's story has them finding out they are fated when they were teenagers but he uses her and she ends up pregnant she is banished per the Alpha's, Caleb's father, orders. She was a half-breed, half witch half wolf. Years later she is running due to an incident one of her twins. They meet again but be wants to keep her and she's been on her own since she left. This was a good story and the ending is well worth the reax .
A shifter book with some different Concepts but it was really good
Being bullied and shot shunned by people/shifters makes it hard for anyone and that's what this book is about. You feel sympathy towards the witch/wolf shifter And the troubles she goes through but as usual this author has a happy ever after ending And it's not too long which makes it a good 1 night read
Caleb found his mate, unfortunately his father, the current Alpha said she wasn’t suitable she was a half bread, part witch, this was not acceptable. So after one party night thing went a bit far and Caleb was under the impression that unless he tied to a female she couldn’t get pregnant, he was wrong, he nearly lost everything.
Electra Cage is always coming up with new story lines and I love it and I am all for it! This was a cute twist and great beginning to a new series can’t wait for the next one! Thank you for your books they keep me going when the kids are being wild!
Didn’t love it nor hate it. Talk to each other! All the things. It was part frustrated and the premise of overweight or witch had zero involvement with the plot. Only that the other tribe had a problem with witches as concept.
Love shifter stories especially when the outcast is a plus size female that is finally seen for her worth and loved by the the alpha. Throw in two adorable kids and the story is complete.
I’ve read a lot of rejected mate books recently and I think this is one of the better one. I liked that the main character actually has a backbone and doesn’t just automatically fall back into the alphas arms
Poor Alyssa she's such a strong fmc and definitely deserves praise for her resilience! Caleb is cruel and harsh but this plot proves that things are not always as they appear!
Night fire Island Alphas, Book 1 in the series. I enjoyed this book and I'm fixing to start book 2. There are not big books but they give you a good read.
