Where desire collides with darkness, every secret bleeds, and love is the most dangerous weapon of all.
Winter in Sleepy Hollow grows colder—and deadlier. As Detective Stephen Carver investigates a string of mutilated corpses marked by satanic symbols, his search draws him closer to a hidden truth that could unravel the very soul of the Hollow. The deeper he digs, the more he feels the malignant pull of something ancient, something that feeds on fear and sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Lori Francon awakens to a new nightmare. Poisoned by betrayal and hunted by the shadows of her own family, she discovers that the house she once called home is a cathedral of corruption, its foundations bound to demons and blood rites. What waits for her inside is more than madness—it is a revelation that could damn her bloodline forever.
And Marc Saduj, hollowed by fever and haunted by the demon scar carved into his flesh, finds himself drawn back to the village streets. But with every step, the Man in Black’s grip tightens, dragging Marc closer to a possession that could unleash hell on earth.
As the walls close in, old bargains resurface, new devils arrive to claim their due, and the line between the living and the damned dissolves. With the Francon legacy steeped in sacrilege and Sleepy Hollow itself trembling on the edge of chaos, Lori must face a question more terrifying than death
When love is twisted into a curse, can it still be the key to salvation—or will it open the gates to eternal ruin?
Gothic, brutal, and mesmerizing, The Sleepy Hollow Book Three plunges deeper into a world of forbidden love, demonic possession, and cosmic horror. For fans of The Witching Hour and The Haunting of Hill House, this installment will leave you breathless, broken, and begging for more.

The Sleepy Hollow Incident by P.D. Alleva is the third in the four book series. It's a paranormal/horror/romance/gothic novel set in the legendary Sleepy Hollow....but with a whole new spin. I consider it more horror than any of the above.
First, let me thank the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Again, these books were written as one long book, and then broken up into four, so you can't just jump in the middle. You have to read them in order. Personally, I'm not a fan of this type of writing, but I am a fan of the author, sooo......
Remember, these books are horror, and Alleva takes this to the extreme with his blood and gore. Alleva's imagination warrants a "beware all ye who open his books".
The first book looked at the love story between Marc and Lori. The second built the foundation for the the whole plot. This third book brings us to the brink of disaster, but with a little bit of hope in the background, as certain characters are slowly figuring out what is going on. The whole thing was been done really well. Again, Alleva's world-building prowess came into play.
The story (all books) look at good vs evil, how even the most unlikely of people can be swayed one way or another. Humanity as a whole is fair ground for the fight against evil.
Last book I worried about Marc, Lori, John, and Carver. I was right in worrying. I am now adding Logan and Father McKenzie to that list.
Overall, this is another atmospheric tale, filled with suspense and a lot of gore.
My only complaints, and sometimes they felt major (but really aren't)....are that these books all have the same name....and there is no table of contents....and that because they were written by the chapter, this book started at chapter 121...and there is no re-cap from the last book. Now, I realize this copy is an ARC, so things may have been corrected in the final book, so I'm not taking any points off my rating. Besides, the story is too good to worry about the little things.
Anyway, until next time ...

The fun ride in Sleepy Hollow continues with book three. You have to read the first two to understand book three, so if you haven't, do that. PD ups the stakes in the third installment. In this one, we get a clear history of what happened in the mansion where evil lies. I'm a history buff, so I really enjoyed learning the backstory of what happened. The romantic subplot continues, but it only adds to the story, not detract. As I said in the previous installments, PD Alleva does a great job mixing in the romance with the paranormal horror elements.
There's only one book left and I'm expecting fireworks! Don't sleep on this series, it's really great. I can easily see this as a TV series.
What a series! Book 3 picks up right where book 2 left and it’s packed with new information and tense moments. We learn more about the motives underlying the evil spreading on the Hollow and we get to glimpse into the past and history of the town and the famous mansion where evil resides and the horror happens.
In this book additional characters take centre stage as well and I loved seeing all the parallel stories happening, and I’m dying to know what specific role any of them has in the plot.
I’m also enjoying the strong connection between Lori and Marc no matter what, showing that true love truly knows no bounds, but I’m also expecting something awful because of this bond. By the way, although at the centre of this book is the romantic relationship between Lori and Marc, it is not a conventional romance book (which I’m pleased about). The romantic element in this case is purely about feelings and bonds, and not what you think about when the word ‘romance’ is thrown about, so that those that don’t read this genre are not put off. Nevertheless, is the focus of the book and the reason why the town and Marc are in this mess in the first place.
I can’t wait to read the last book in the series! I’m expecting a full blown mayhem, given the brutal development of Marc in the last book, and the dangerous position Lori is putting herself in.
Thanks to the author for a copy and this is my honest opinion.
Lori is still trying to reach Marc to save him and to try and stop what is coming. Lori goes to Marc’s apartment looking for him. Marc is not at home but what she finds there is something very sinister and creepy and shockingly unbelievable. I was so afraid for Lori when she was at Marc’s apartment. Oh, man, the things she witnessed there was gross, scary, and dangerous or could become dangerous.
Lori wants to help Marc and stop them from opening a gate to the underworld that would allow demons to cross over causing havoc upon the world. If the portal is opened demons would cross over, taking over the world and humans. Their lives would forever be changed, never to be the same again. Lori has no intention of letting this happen ever.
The Sleepy Hollow Incident is a dark and scary world with many characters whose eyes we get to see the story through so we get to see more of the story and what is going on in other parts of the world as the demons prepare to make their way across the realms.
Carver is investigating the several mysterious deaths in the area. What is going on? Who is committing all these deaths and why? Carver’s investigation is leading him to one person as the main suspect in the case. Carver is stumped and is not sure what to expect next.
The Sleepy Hollow Incident is one dark and eerie story that is sure to keep your attention from the first page until the last without a dull moment in between. Demons are trying to make their way into the human realm to take over. Can Lori stop them in time before it is too late? What about Marc? Can she save him as well? Can Marc and Lori ever repair their relationship?
The Sleepy Hollow Incident brought out several different emotions in me like anger, sadness, fear, and shock just to name a few. I kept picturing the world through a dark fog that surround the land day and night. I was reminded of several different TV or movies like Stranger Things, Dark Shadows, and movies like The Mist or The Fog, or It, with a mist floating over the land.
I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in The Sleepy Hollow Incident to see what shocking events is on the agenda. I highly recommend grabbing a copy of The Sleepy Hollow Incident Book Three today for another great horror adventure!
A four book series soaked in blood and eternal damnation. Epic storytelling and world building, incredible characterisation and grotesquely gothic in feel. This is a story of good versus evil, it has sacrificial love, a creepy house in the woods, a small town’s horrific past, dark occult practices, hidden family secrets, demons, witches, ghosts and a literal portal to hell! It is brutal and gruesome but epic in its scope. The whole series will be out and published by the end of December 2025 but part three is unleashed on 18th November 2025.
Book Three - Sleepy Hollow’s secrets start to unravel as Detective Carver uncovers the history of the town whilst bodies continue to be found carved with arcane symbols. Lori after discovering her family is mired in evil still believes love is the way to salvation? Marc is a shadow of his former self, forever marked by the demon and stumbling in the death grip of the man in black. Both are desperately searching for each other in the town as others conspire to keep them apart.
Here we see the story of the evil that has gripped Sleepy Hollow for centuries, possession, blood sacrifice, witches and ghosts all come into play. This is cosmic chaos unleashed onto the town as the demonic descend to collect hearts and the residents succumb to the darkness. Unending suffering and eternal torment is coming with redemption seemingly impossible. This is torturous turmoil unleashed with hope destroyed and events decided many centuries ago coming to pass.
Living between the cemetery and the old mansion has sure added to the trauma Marc experiences everyday since the accident. The lengths other black man’ went to in order to set up the world’s end was mind boggling. The anguish felt by Marc and Lori felt bleeds through each page of the book. The reader has now discovered that Marc was just part of a bigger plan. He has doubts about his ‘guardians’ help. He is beginning to realize he is a pawn but not to what degree he has become involved. As with all good vs. evil stories; the ‘good ones’ are beginning to receive intuition that more is going on than meets the eye. The torture scenes are gruesome and are beginning to weaken the portal walls. Lori and Marc are also beginning to realize something is wrong about their lives. The influences of the evil are so involved with trying to release demon on earth that clarity is beginning to notice something was wrong.
The darkness is slowly consuming more and more of Sleepy Hollow. Who will survive and who will be lost? I’m on the edge of my seat, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
Of all the characters, I’m rooting for Lori the most. She’s really been through it, and I can’t help but hope she has a happy ending after all she’s been through. I was also super invested in Carver’s POV. The more he learns about the town’s history, the more sinister everything becomes.
Another banger in the Sleepy Hollow Incident series. Tension is so tight, it feels like the story is a page away from everything exploding. With this being book three out of four, you know things are about to get wild.
WOWZA it just keeps getting better and better!! The character development is phenomenal! The storyline is phenomenal! The dialogue! The descriptions! This one has ramped up and all the characters are coming together for QUITE the finale I can tell!! Dare I say one of my favorite series of all time?!
Wow! Let the bloodbath continue.........The tortures and storyline have amazing imagination that keeps you hooked! The "good" characters are trying so hard but keep getting their butts "kicked" and the "bad" characters are running amok. I can't stop reading!!! On to book 4............
Initium Novum...a new beginning. Humanity's end as a new beginning. This book was so good, so much blood...they need hearts for the master! I loved this, has to be my favorite of the series! Supernatural, demon ghosts, torture, my heart was beating fast so much!
Lori goes on to search for Marc but is unaware of the danger she is in. Marc is no longer the man she knew but he is possessed I could not put this book down.
It's just the beginning with the secrets of the creepy old house in the woods. Dead bodies with symbols carved on them turning up. Will the town of Sleepy Hallow ever rid of of this demonic torment? We shall see in book 4.
The story was already intense in the last 2 books but this one you can feel it in your bones. I just couldn't stop reading and now I can't wait to read the final book. I need to know what happens.
First off, what a fantastic cover for the third book in The Sleepy Hollow Incident by P D Alleva. Look into those eyes and tell me what you see. Does Marc Saduj have any humanity left inside him? Lori learns things about her family’s evil past. Can her love for Mark save him?
P D Alleva’s writing draws me in, deeper and deeper, because I don’t have any idea where I am going or how I’m going to get there. I just know it’s going to be frightening, dangerous, dark and disturbing.
The Sleepy Hollow Incident by P D Alleva has an eerie, gothic feel where evil oozes off the pages, spreading danger throughout the town in the search of more hearts for the demonic. Can the town survive? We shall see in Book IV, the final book in The Sleepy Hollow Incident by P D Alleva.
The Sleepy Hollow Incident: Book Three (Parts Five & Six): A Gothic Tale! By: P.D. Alleva Publisher: Chamber Door Publishing, LLC Publication Date: November 18, 2025 ASIN: B0F2N44RRV Triggers: Gore, demonic possession, cult rituals, death, religious trauma Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Skull Dread Rating: ☠️☠️☠️ (utterly cursed in the best way possible)
What Did I Just Walk Into? Bodies carved with satanic symbols. A house that eats secrets for breakfast. Lovers cursed by demons and destiny. Sleepy Hollow is colder, bloodier, and far beyond redemption this time.
Here’s What Slapped: Mr. P.D. Alleva is single-handedly redefining gothic horror for the modern age. The atmosphere is pure dread—icy fog, decaying churches, and the kind of whispers that follow you down the hall when you’re alone. Detective Carver is neck-deep in a tangle of corpses and occult clues while Lori tries to drag her soul (and Marc’s) back from the brink of damnation. Every chapter peels back another layer of corruption until you start questioning who’s human and who’s just wearing the skin.
The world-building is cinematic and grotesque in the best way. There are shades of The Witching Hour, The Exorcist, and Hellraiser all wrapped in Mr. P.D. Alleva’s unique brand of lyrical brutality. The pacing doesn’t let up, and every revelation hits like a confession you didn’t want to hear.
What Could’ve Been Better: The emotional recovery time between shocks? Nonexistent. You’ll finish this one needing a stiff drink and maybe a priest.
Perfect for Readers Who Love: Gothic horror with teeth Demons, bloodlines, and morally gray love stories Detective thrillers tangled with ancient evil Worlds where every heartbeat sounds like a countdown to hell

**ARC Review** Title: The Sleepy Hollow Incident Book 3 Author: P.D. Alleva Genre: Horror Rating: 5-Stars
I would like to start by apologizing to Paul. The release date of this book was a few days ago, and I am just now putting out this review. However, I must say that each segment of this story just keeps getting better and better.
The quiet town of Sleepy Hollow has had a string of gruesome murders that have rocked it to its core. Each murder involves a removed heart, an inverted pentagram, and the words Initium Novum written in blood. Detective Stephen Carver is on the hunt of the killer, and, in his opinion, all signs point to one person. Meanwhile, Lori Francon is trying to escape the shadow of her mother and just wants to return to the Hollow to find her ex-fiancé, Mark Saduj. Mark is slowly sinking into madness and alcoholism, with The Man in Black’s grip tightening, bringing him closer to possession.
Out of the first three books in this series, this one is hands down the darkest and goriest. Alleva is a master at prose, and he is able to paint this town and the characters in such a way that they all seem real. You come to know and understand these characters more than in other books that I’ve read. You can’t help but cheer or boo these characters.
Although this book has its scary and bloody moments, the true horror of this book, and where I feel Alleva truly excelled at, was the psychological aspects of it. Each character is going through their own trauma, and the way that Alleva portrays this just proves that he really knows this subject and really master’s the art of making it believable.
This is the third book in his serialized novel and is available now. The fourth and final book should be released in the next few weeks, and I can’t sing its praises enough. P.D. Alleva is a true master at horror, and an excellent wordsmith who truly makes this a must-read for those who love all things horror and psychological horror.
In this story, we follow Marc and Lori. Even though they’re living apart and unaware of each other’s situations, their love for one another remains strong. Marc is starting to realize that choices made out of love can lead to destruction. He’s confused and has developed a dependency on alcohol, making his mind feel foggy, almost like he’s sharing his body with someone else.
Meanwhile, Lori has decided to take a stand for herself and search for Marc, sensing that he’s in trouble. She’s determined to find him, but after what she uncovers, will she still feel the same way?
I really appreciate a good historical perspective, and this book delivered just that. I loved how the author intertwined the Sleepy Hollow legend with the storyline. The twist he added was completely unexpected but absolutely fantastic. I love the multiple POVS in the story. The way the story unfolded made it feel like it was much shorter than its 400-odd pages. This book is highly recommended.
Just when you think things can’t get darker, more skin-crawlingly creepy, or horrifying, Alleva hits you with a new installment, and you’re left questioning just how you got there. I was so excited to dive back into Marc and Lori’s story, and no punches were pulled from the start. The descriptions are so vivid, that it’s like watching the story unfold. The tension is so high, you’ll find it difficult to set this down, so make sure you set aside some hours before you start reading. We get to dive a little deeper into everything, and you can tell something big is just around the corner, bigger than anything that has been laid out thus far. I cannot wait to see how this wraps up in part four!
The dark story continues and delves into even greater darkness. How will our characters get out of this web of evil? I love how the covers in this series show Marc's transformation. Detective Stephen Carver and the priest are my favorite characters. I love how seriously they are taking the demonic activities plaguing the town. I found Lori's experiences in this book very disturbing. There are a few phrases repeated in this book that jarred when I read it. I can't wait to find out what happens in the last installment. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The darkness continues, loose ends begins to form as the Ghost Demons come forth. The story keeps getting darker, and with each new character introduced a new anxiety is revealed. What will happen to Logan?John? Carver? Henry? Is anyone safe?
Lori is back in sleepy hallow, and that means she is in the sights of the demon. I love the strategic cliffhanger at every turn. Prose thay makes you question everything. This is a fun ride of not just possession but also for survival. Cant wait to see how the story ends. 4.5 stars out of five.
This is the third part of this mind-blowing creepfest created by P.D. Alleva. The stage is set for the epic battle with evil. As more bodies are found, Detective Carver realizes that there is much more happening in Sleepy Hollow. The long-rumored dark past of Sleepy Hollow is proving true and is on the cusp of being resurrected. To change Sleepy Hollow, Marc must be involved. His bargain with the demon makes him an integral part of this evil. He still loves and misses Lori, but the demon's influence is weakening him. Lori has been subjected to her mother's domineering behavior. She decides that she must return to Sleepy Hollow to see Marc again without her mother's influence.
There is so much going wrong in Sleepy Hollow. Can anyone or anything turn the town from evil to good?
The third book expands on the first and second book well, getting even more gruesome and intense than the last two in possibly every way. However, this series, to me, is hard to get into, especially since it was hard for me to get into the first book. If you love lots and lots of descriptive prose and fewer scenes and if you enjoyed the first and second book, you'll love this book. But for me personally, I prefer his older books, my favorite being The Rose.
He's taking a different approach with this series, and it isn't working for me so far, but it could work great for someone else. Either way, he's a great horror writer to support.
