Human - with some super secret mods - warrior Sefina has been quietly bearing her own pain while literally carrying the load for countless other human women in the rebellion. When Menace falls prey to a d!abol!cal trap and is tortured by a man!acal Creator, Sefina must dig deep to save him, enlisting the help of someone who b3trayed her utterly.
Sybur Phyre has built an incredibly rich series with vivid and imaginative world building. With each installment the overarching picture grows more complex yet coherent, and this particular novel is no exception. Sefina and Menace are perfect for each other, offering hope where none existed. There’s steam, yes, but there’s a tangible connection being built between these two contained within this book’s pages. The mission they embark on at the end to recover more dormant Titans indicates more volumes to come, and I for one look forward with great anticipation to future books in the series.

Now, she’s just working to survive and protect the people she regards as she responsibility. She’s sure that Menace, the male cyborg lead, is a danger to most of them and she strives to keep a careful eye on him.
Menace was tortured by his creator, instead of being nurtured. He has some special abilities but they’ve come at the cost of his capacity to function normally in most situations. He knows Sefina hates him but he doesn’t know how to change that, even though he feels called to spend time near her.
But as the situation around them becomes more dangerous, they have to spend more time working together. And sometimes they’re the only one available for the other one to lean on. Maybe they’ve got more in common than they thought…
This novella is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, cyborg/altered human, steamy sci fi romance. I empathised with both characters’ historical trauma. I appreciated how they were able to support each other. I enjoyed Sefina’s strength and determination. I enjoyed Menace’s evolving perspective and his perseverance. I enjoyed the building relationship. I enjoyed the revelation of the overarching plot and the character development for secondary characters. I’m looking forward to the next (last) book in the series!

Sefina has been badly treated by bounty hunters and is very distrustful of everyone, but she has a warrior attitude suffering the pain of secret psychic modifications by the Solcrue.
Menace is a lethal CyberTitan with violent tendencies, classes himself as dangerous to be around humans. He sees Sefina and is attracted to her but he knows he should ignore her. Eventually they cannot fight the attraction, and they have steamy scenes whenever they can between the action adventure.
Together they lead human refugees through tunnels to a ship that will hopefully be able to take them off Ellipsis. The trek is dangerous with collapsing tunnels, wild beasts and attacking Solcrue skysprinters. Once they arrive at the ship there is one part that they must retrieve from the Solcrue compound. A dangerous venture where Menace is captured and tortured by his Creator, but eventually rescued by Sefina (Fin), who kills the Creator, and they make a fast run to the ship.
A gripping story, and I recommend reading the whole series, although each book can be read as a standalone.

Menace
I just love these sad, lonely cyborg guys. This book was particularly sweet because the MFC has her own augmentations with the very clear purpose to protect humans and Titans. After reading about the heartbreaking isolation these Titans feel for several books now, I just thought this passage was so moving,
“Until my spark is dark, I will fight for you, Titan Menace. This I swear. I am your sentinel. You are my charge. I will forever stand guard through wind, fire, and iron rain. No matter my pain, you will be safe.”
When have these guys ever been told they are safe? They fight so relentlessly for their objective, the least they deserve is someone to love and to be loved in return.
I also appreciate that each book makes clear why it's so important that these Titans can love and have mates. The good Creators knew that compassion and softness was important to soldiers staying human and empathetic. Otherwise, the complete lack of empathy paired with extreme power leads to the most corrupt and merciless of beings. (As shown by the modern day RL US government).

This was an interesting premise and I was keen for something new…
I was trying to figure out the setting for this and it was hard to tell.
Then I had a ball trying to work out what the characters looked like. There were enough descriptors for me to guess more human than not, but honestly.. at the start, I was thinking more robot and wondering how everything would work!! Whoops!
This was an enemies to lovies, forced proximity romance, and it was hard fought. There were stages where I was getting lost, but I got the feeling that there are other books earlier in a series and perhaps explanations occurred a bit earlier. A lot of characters introduced, and I there wasn’t a huge amount used to explain the world that they were in.
I did enjoy the relationship dynamics, and the author managed to sneak in some references to gender issues. These were handled really well and added to the story without feeling ‘preachy’.
All in all, a good book - particularly if you like more of a sci-fi romance genre.

Sefina is an angry, complex human that finally escaped from her “owners” and is helping the resistance. They are almost ready to escape from Ellipsis. They just need one more part. When she gets sent with Menace to get it she is angry because she doesn’t want any help. She works alone!
Menace has been attracted to Sefina since she arrived on Ellipsis. But he knows he is too violent and dangerous to ever be around her so he does his best to ignore her. When they get sent together to retrieve the final part, he has mixed feelings, but he will protect her to his death!
When Menace gets captured, Sefina goes after him and she also gets captured. Now they are in a real pickle! Is this the end for them and the resistance or can these two figure a way out!
Exciting, fast paced with plenty of twists and turns, and heat!

The books in this series are always a good read. They can be read as standalone novels, but they do continue to build upon the last book in the series.
Being caught in the middle of a war, the plot is full of conflicts and interspersed with action, some gore (this book includes the torture of a humanoid machine), and of course, some spicy scenes. And don't forget the happy (for now) ending.
The characters are all unique! They all have a different background, even if they're cyborgs made by the same creator because they were created for different purposes with different abilities. In this book, Menace is…. an animal. Primal. The female main character is human, but with augments of her own which molds her unique character.
I'm eagerly waiting for the next book :)

Made For Each Other!
Menace is book 10 in the Hunted Relics series and the intensity is ramping up and the risks are getting higher for all of the CyberTitans, the Human women and their friends. This is a fantastic enemies to lovers genre with lots of excitement and adventure. You really must read this series from the beginning since all the characters and events are compounding into what I am sure will be an explosive ending. I am immediately moving on to the next book in this series, Armor!

Building to a final crescendo
These two are perfect. Menace was such an unknown quantity. The more you find out about Sefina, the more interesting the story becomes. Their love hate relationship builds and morphs and when you find out who his creator was and how he hurt them both, it all falls together. Great world building with each addition to the series. Love this pairing and hope for the best with her "friend" Sythius" whom we really don't know if we can fully trust or not. Looking forward to the great escape!

Menace grazes his teeth down my throat. “You are mine. No one touches you again.”
Menace and Sefina hate each other but in the end are perfect for each other!
A explosive clash if wills superbly explored by the author in a multilayered plot with high tension, never ending action and danger,a corrupt creator and you have the premisse for this story.
Menace is perhaps my favorite Relic ,with his more primal nature.
The overarching plot of The Relics is incredibly rich,detailed ,complex and got me
addicted, waiting anxiously for each new book.
Highly recomend this series!

This story that's about Menace and Sefina was intense, dramatic, action-filled romantic story I'd enjoyed reading. Loved our characters-Menace and Sefina were like cats and dogs at the beginning but hidden deep is an attraction that simmers throughout this story. Their adventures were well written in a detailed world as they're assigned a mission together for the benefit of their group's survival. What occurs captivated me in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

Menace doesn't believe that he's good enough to love. When he saw Sefina, he wasn't sure what he was feeling. He wanted to take care of her and protect her, but she wanted none of that. She was a sentinel. A protector of the resistance.
At first, she didn't like Menace. He made her feel uneasy. When she got hurt because of him, he took care of her. That was the beginning of a great understanding. Guaranteed HEA.

This is an interesting Cyborg romance. The story is mainly about Menace, a Titan who is just like his name and Sefina, an abused augmented human.
This story is the ninth of the Haunted Relics series and is as good as the other stories. It can be read as a standalone book.

Sybur Phyre’s Hunted Relics series Menace is amazing! The cyber titans continue the fight against the baddies. This time female Sefina, a cross of human and tech, joins titan Menace. They can’t stand one another but there’s still a spark there which develops over time and many hazardous adventures until it becomes a raging fire!

This book was crazy exciting! I walked away from it twice, I was so anxious. I wanted so bad to see these two get together and heal each other. Such a satisfying hea. I adore this world. Ms. Phyre, please stay in this world for a while. I can't wait for Armor.

Both of the main characters were tough cookies, and I was a little curious as to how the author was going to get them to show their softer sides to each other. But, once again, Sybur Phyre created a good match. This book moved the series substantially forward and brought a lot of the earlier characters back on stage for the finale.

This great Cyborg Romance is about Menace and Sefina. He considers himself a feral animal unworthy of a mate. She thinks she failed in her duty. Together they must retrieve the last parts needed to leave the planet. I just love this whole Cyborg series and can't wait for the next book

I loved the back and fourth between our MCs. You can see the possible attraction but it could also be hate. The chemistry was just so fun! Loved that they were both broken in their own ways( to them anyway) and yet they get their HEA

May 15, 2025I don't recommend reading this as a standalone because I was so effing confused! I couldn't enjoy the story, too many names, too many WORDS! While SEFINA and MENACE seemed like an intriguing pairing, I just couldn't get into the writing at all.

Woo, what a ride! ‘Menace’ picks up where ‘Thruster’ (another great book) left off. This series just gets better and better. Menace and Sefina are perfect for each other. They’re both broody, protective, secretly caring, and horribly scarred—both physically and emotionally. It was surprising to see who made the first move. This is definitely a slow-burn, but the chemistry feels honest between Menace and Sefina so the pace feels natural. We all know this ends in a happily ever after—between the first page to the HEA there is an incredible amount of quality high-adrenaline storytelling.
