Silver Fox Daddies

Forbidden Vows

Rate this book
He's supposed to marry her sister.
But the Pakhan doesn't play by the rules...
He writes them in blood.

The air is thick with champagne and lies.
I’m standing at my sister’s engagement party, trapped in the gilded cage of my family’s dying Irish dynasty.
Beside me, the monster I’m meant to marry.

Then—the announcement.
“Introducing Ciara’s fiancé—Anton Karpov.”

The world shatters.
His gaze crashes into mine like a knife to the ribs.
He remembers.
The way I moaned his name.
The way he saved my life—only to ruin it.

Shit.
This.
Can’t.
Be.
Happening.
But it's real.

And so is my hatred.

Then his eyes drop.
To my hand.
To the curve of my stomach.
To the heir he doesn’t know exists.

That’s when the real game begins.

Too many continuity errors…

I barely made it through chapter one because there are too many continuity errors. One sentence says he locks the door and then a few sentences later he shuts and locks the door? When he walks into the apartment he removes his jacket but when the FMC starts to undress him she removes his jacket? He tells her to sit but then somehow he is standing with his hands around her waist? I really wanted to try and push through but was so confused I couldn’t concentrate or enjoy the story.

Started off decent but just got worse as the book went on. Heroine is unbearable. All she does is complain and whine half the book. Her sister is made out to be a selfish brat, but so is she. Willing to put her unborn babies and security through danger just so she can get out of the house because she feels "trapped". It's literally the same argument over and over again between her and literally everyone else through at least half the book.

Even with the hero, she wants him to say I love you to her, but they barely know each other? They slept together, married each other months later and most of what they do together is have sex or argue about her being trapped. It's annoying AF. And all the hero does is enable her. He's a wimp.

Why? Eileen. I could not subject myself one more second to this absolutely ridiculous character. It’s hard to believe she an adult much less one who has grown up in a mafia family. It’s acknowledged repeatedly that Ciara is bratty and selfish, but Eileen is no slouch. She is willing to jeopardize the safety of herself, her children and any person who has the terrible misfortune of having to ensure her safety because this adult doesn’t want to stay on the grounds of her home. Sigh.

'"You knew you were marrying my stepsister," I say
"I was still technically a free man. No official announcement had been made."'

No.
Absolutely fucking not 😬

The fucking audacity of this absolute piece of shit creep.
He knows who the FMC is. He knows he is marrying her sister. He intentionally does not tell the FMC who he is, and then proceeds to sleep with her 🤢

And when they officially meet, is he even slightly remorseful? No. He's fucking PROUD of himself. He regrets nothing, and fucking patronizes her "maybe one day you'll understand."

Understand that you're a vile piece of human garbage? I think we got that, actually 🙄

And the FMC? What does she do when she finds out all this shit and the MMC, AT HIS ENGAGEMENT PARTY TO HER SISTER, corners her on a balcony and gropes her??

"“It’s not right,” I manage, moaning softly as both his hands settle on my buttocks. He squeezes firmly, pulling me into him, and I melt against his chest, my knees soft and my senses shattered. “We can’t.”'
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Idgaf what happens next. I hope they both fall off the balcony and die.

Negative infinity stars. Straight to jail. Never again, K.C. Crowne.

It's hard to put my finger on, but there just felt like something was missing with this one. If I had to say, I think it's because so much time passed and we never really saw this relationship develop. It went from I want to bang you to I can't stop thinking about you to ILY and can't live without you. The connections felt a bit...shallow, for lack of a better phrase.

I waited a few days to write this review, I'm still not sure exactly how I feel about this book. Was it a good read? Yes, for the most part. At one point, in the beginning I almost dnf. I won't go into detail but, details matter, at least for me. I only noticed this in the beginning and a couple times throughout the rest of the book.
There was a lot of detail about the Bravta, who was who, how they were connected, the history between them. I ended up backtracking and taking notes so I could keep it straight. (Details matter)
Eileen, the h, seemed very naive in some important ways, for someone who was raised in this environment. Anton, the H, was a typical mafia guy, no big surprises. This is a age gap? Ages were never brought up. Anton does have some silver/gray in his hair. Which brings me to, birth control, that's never mentioned either!
Without giving away too much of the story. It seemed to me the main focus was on Anton and his ability to keep keep his place in the Bravta and what others were doing to sabotage that or help him. The relationship between Eileen and Anton was almost an afterthought.
I don't feel like the book lived up to the hype, combined with the other things that bugged me I'm going with 3 stars. I'm sure others loved this and I get that but, for me it fell a little flat. I might possibly try another book from this author in the future, just to see. At the time of this post this was available on KU

⭐️⭐️just 2 stars here.....
Cons:
1. The language in this book was trying to be out of like a 1950's crime drama or something. Phrases like "sleeping with the fishes" and I have expected a female to be referenced as dollface. Lol
2. This book was geared more towards crime families and the drama and less of a "romance" in my opinion. The spice was minimal, with the exception of the 1st encounter.
3. I felt the "Russian" aspect of the mc got lost about 25% into the book-like there was not much actual Russian culture integrated in.
Pros:
I respect an author who even has the cojones to publish-so hats off to you for publishing! So a pro in this read was definitely the characters. There were some side stories that might be worth exploring in the future here.

Overall-
⭐️⭐️this read as an old-timey tele-nova and I was bored with the plot during a lot of it.
🌶️🌶️ just a 2

Eileen and Anton

This story had a promising start. Eileen seemed like a strong, confident woman who was pushing against the expectations of being in an arranged marriage. She found herself pregnant after a ONS with her sister’s fiancé, Anton. When Anton learns Eileen is pregnant, he decides to marry her instead of Ciara (the sister).

After the honeymoon, Eileen becomes whiny and irritable. Her complaints are all about how she’s not getting what she wants, how she feels trapped, and nobody is paying attention to her. It’s annoying and I almost DNF. The rest of it is Eileen trying to show everyone she can be kickass but she’s definitely not. Anton is devoted and obsessive but he also enables Eileen’s childish behavior. It sometimes feels like he’s infantilizing her. A lot is said about the brattiness of Ciara, Eileen’s irritating half-sister, but seriously they’re both brats. The age gap between Eileen and Anton is close to 20 yrs so it’s almost at the ick level to me.

No 3rd act breakup, dual pov, things gets spicy quickly, super annoying bratty FMC.

A DNF for me

I had to DNF this book at 51% because I just couldn’t take anymore of the FMC. She was so unlikable and immature. The MMC was such a great guy who did everything he could for her but she just kept complaining and complaining about being stuck in their gigantic mansion with full staff knowing there were people out there trying to actively unalive her and her unborn baby. For someone raised at a mafia princess she was incredibly naive and awful.

Nope, he wasn’t my hero material…

This guy made me so angry and annoyed that I never got back to happy with him. He knew who she was. He knew what was supposed to happen next. He banged her anyway. He’s no hero.

Sure, it works out finally but this guy had no excuse to completely ignore what happened and get engaged. We are talking about the fact that if she hadn’t fainted, he would have gotten married to the other one. I found this so 🤮 that he never redeemed himself in my mind. Your mileage may vary…

KU read.

It was okay...

This book was about 100 pages too long. It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't great either. Eileen, the FMC, was hard to like. Anton was supposed to be this ruthless Pakhan, and I just never saw it. Yeah, he loved Eileen, but he just never seemed to put his foot down with Eileen. I'm all for a strong FMC that doesn't cower to her husband, but this woman was just difficult to be difficult. She didn't listen, she didn't consider the danger, especially being pregnant. This wasn't worth the read, honestly. I'll try to avoid this author's books. I don't think they are worth the time.

"But even a leashed bitch has teeth. And if you yank too hard?" My smile vanishes. "She just might tear out your fucking throat."

I really liked Eileen.

So this is the stereotypical mafia marriage of convenience to unite the Russian mob, Anton Karpov, and the Irish mob, Eileen Donovan. And I think I enjoyed it so much because it was so cheesy. Like this man falls fast, hard, and first. And even though some things were very far fetched I didn’t read this to learn anything. Lol. It was very scandalous and dramatic. Like reading a soap opera. A mafia soap opera. It was very fun!

DNF @ 47% — Disappointed Despite a Promising Premise

I was initially drawn to Forbidden Vows by K.C. Crowne because of the age-gap mafia romance trope—something I usually enjoy. The premise had potential, but unfortunately, the execution fell flat for me.

From the start, the book was riddled with grammatical errors and continuity issues that made it feel like it hadn’t gone through any real editing. Chapters often felt repetitive, with little to no progression in the plot or characters.

The female main character (FMC) especially lacked development. She came across as consistently whiny, and her actions felt frustratingly thoughtless—there were moments where I genuinely questioned if she had any functioning brain cells. I kept hoping for some growth or depth, but none came, and that made it really hard to stay invested.

The plot itself was sluggish and uninspired, with no real tension or intrigue to keep me hooked. By the time I hit the halfway mark, I realized I was forcing myself to continue—and that’s always my sign to put a book down.

Overall, this one wasn’t for me. If you’re a diehard fan of mafia romance and can overlook major editing flaws, you might still enjoy it—but I’d approach with caution.

Eileen lives in the mafia world, here she is kept safe and her life is decided for her. She has one night with a stranger that she has never felt more free, more like a woman desired, more like herself.
Weeks later she discovers that she is pregnant with that strangers baby, now she has to force the fake smile and endure her sisters engagement party. There she meets Aton, head of the Russian mafia her sisters fiancé, who happens to be the stranger from her one night of freedom.
When Aton discovers Eileen pregnant, he breaks the engagement with her sister and announces his engagement to Eileen. He vows to have the woman he cant stop thinking about and the woman carrying his future.

This book was ok. It is your average mafia book. I found Eileen very whinny, annoyingly so.

Started fast… ended slow…

This book had me on the edge the first 30%! I was hooked and anticipating so much for this story.

Eileen is rescued by the hot Bratva Don, Anton, he takes her back to his apartment to protect her, but ends up having a one night stand. Little does Eileen know that Anton knew who she was the whole time. He is set to wet her stepsister, but she falls pregnant… And the story takes off.

I think my biggest problem with this book was the time jumps. And never went into particular detail about what they were specifically doing in the moment. It was like they would start something and then it would cut off and the sentence would say a moment later… I found this super annoying. I also found it annoying that Eileen is supposed to be pregnant with twins and very far along but yet the story doesn’t make it seem like she is pregnant. Or that if she were so pregnant she’d be able to be put in the situations that she was. I also hated that Anton seems so evil at the beginning, but then calms down a little bit once he and Eileen are together. I also thought the names were all hard to keep track of, and the family lineage was hard to follow as well. I felt like this book started out so good, but then fell super flat for me. There’s spice at the beginning but sprinkled throughout.

Adapting to a Change of Plans -
Eileen was meant to be on a night out celebrating an engagement she wasn’t happy about, but she accidentally found herself in a situation the out her in jeopardy and just as she was about to lose hope, a stranger rescued her. When Anton decided to step in and save Eileen, he didn’t expect his actions would cause a ripple effect, that changed the trajectory of his plans. Eileen soon realised Fate was playing a trick on her, when she found out the consequences of her night with Anton just before she discovered who he was and his link to her family.

Just as Anton accepted the situation he found himself in, everything changed when he discovered the secret Eileen had been keeping, which led him to reevaluate the existing plans. Even though Eileen accepted the new changes in her life, she still wasn’t totally happy, but the moment her life was on the line again, she decided to fight to ensure her family was safe. Anton and Eileen soon started working together to deal with the obstacles placed in their path to peace and happiness, which actually brought them closer. Fortunately, Eileen and Anton were able to work together successfully in resolving the problems, so they could get the life they deserved, after finally acknowledging their true feelings for each other.

K.C. Crowne has definitely hit it out of the park again with this story and if I could give more stars, I really would. I was hooked on the story from the first chapter and I couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end. This was one gem of a story and I highly recommend you grab a copy of this book now.

STUPID FACEBOOK ADS 😭

It felt like I was reading a book written by a high school girl who dreamed of being whisked away by a member of the Russian mob and living happily ever after with him

Anton is supposed to be 20 years older than Eileen but he talks like a douchebag in college. Eileen cries about being trapped despite being threatened with her babies lives and being shot at and she still has the audacity to whine about being trapped in the house

Not to mention in the beginning he calls her all these Russian names and then after their one night together he stops? It’s like the author forgot he was Russian

The 2 stars is for the drama between the sisters, the pregnancy {cause I’m 3 months pp 😂} and the secondary characters who keep it interesting because Eileen was unbearable. I was annoyed anytime she pooped up in the book

DNF - stopped at 50%

I just finished Sinful Union by the same author and picked this book up because I liked that one so much. Ugh...how disappointing. I can't stand immature, childish heroines who whine all the time. I never figured out how old Eileen was supposed to be, but her maturity level was that of someone very young who didn't grasp the danger that was directed at her or her unborn children. Most pregnant women become "mama bears" when it comes to protecting their unborn child, but never felt that connection between Eileen and her unborn twins.

Eileen was suppose to be the "good sister" while Ciara was supposed to be the spoiled brat. The beginning of the book set the stage with Eileen being the sister that took her step-sister's taunting and crap through the entire portion of the book I read and continued to be a doormat who had an image problem with her weight. When a MFC whines and complains all the time, I lose interest very quickly. I like my heroines to be strong and smart vs., immature and childish. The flow of this story as well as the time frame seemed off. It jumped around at times and stagnated at other times.

Fast forward and we have Eileen, not Ciara married to Anton and pregnant with twins. Seriously this is 2025 and yet I have seen so many one night stands in this genre that end in pregnancy. Has anyone heard of a condom or birth control? Apparently unplanned one night stand pregnancy's sells in this genre.

Anton's character was everything I expect from a MMC in this genre, accept that he could have done better than Eileen. He somehow loved her and yet I never felt like she loved him in the portion of the book that I read. She liked the sex but I never felt a real love connection.

While out at a club, and looking for the bathroom, she stumbles onto something she shouldn’t have seen. About to be taken by men in tactical gear she is instead grabbed and thrown into a car with a handsome stranger. He takes her to hide at a hotel while he tries to call off the men who are after her. While there they have a hot and steamy night, his hands making her melt. When the threat is over, she returns home, not expecting to see him again. She is shocked to find out he is the man her father is arranging her sister to marry. She’s even more shocked to find out that their little evening together left her carrying his baby. When he finds out, he is determined to swap brides and make her his. This story well set as a typical mafia arranged marriage trope, felt a bit like the blue collar version of such. It just didn’t feel as polished as you would expect. From the flow of their conversation to their organization it lacked a depth that you expect from the genre. It was pretty much Instalove of for him when he spotted her, and he doesn’t make any pretense about that. This part was refreshing. He is all in with her, and as soon as he is able to claim her, he make sure she knows. The additional story arc is complex mafia drama that is going on within their organization as well as others forming an alliance with them.

What a mess, trouble is brewing!
Anton Karpova, along with his brother Andrei, runs the Karpov Bratva and is the head of the Bratva Council. To gain respect and show stability, Anton needs to marry. To achieve a connection that will add to his family's power, Anton’s bride must be a daughter from a powerful crime family. Ciara Donovan, the daughter of Roman Donovan and the leader of the Irish crime family in Chicago, will do nicely. She is beautiful, stately, spoiled, and obedient. But before the engagement, Anton meets a lovely lady, neither of whom shares their name, and they have a night filled with lovemaking. Soon, Anton discovers that his mystery lady is Eileen, Ciara's sister. Too bad, Eileen would be a much better wife, but he’s signed the commitment paper to marry Ciara.
Ciara is a mean, nasty, rude girl. She is model perfect, and Eileen is not. Ciara humiliates Eileen at every chance, and Eileen takes it. Ciara is a selfish, spoiled, entitled brat. Eileen’s just too nice…and…pregnant…with Anton’s baby! The proverbial crap hits the fan. What a mess. Ciara is livid because she wants the handsome, wealthy Anton.
There is a major revolt among several of the crime families, including the Italians, the Bratva, and the Irish. Someone is backstabbing the Karpova brothers, and it will get deadly. Eileen is in danger. I loved how the story evolved, and I was happy that Ciara reformed. I love K.C. Crowne’s crime family stories. Linda

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Eileen is the sister that has curves, her mother passed aways made to feel less than by her sister her father being a man was clueless for the most part, but she meets what she thought was an amazing man has one wonderful evening only to find out he happens to be her sister’s arranged fiancé. Eileen also finds out she is pregnant on the day of the wedding she passes out where her sister’s fiancé discovers the truth. Anton sexy as all get out fiancé agrees to the arranged marriage for the Bratva knowing but he can’t get Eileen out of his mind despite marrying the sister so when she passes out, he takes charge ensuring she is okay. The moment he realizes she is pregnant he calls off the wedding to the sister and marries her but with some misunderstandings, some twists and turns, of course her sister’s rants, and where does it leave us with a happy family?
