Sometimes the closer you get to justice, the deadlier it becomes

When decorated FBI undercover agent Scott Sinclair suffers a gunshot wound in his right arm, the injury threatens his future career in the field. He is determined to regain his former job by training himself to use his left hand, and failure is not an option--especially when he's unofficially pulled into an investigation.

Tori Mitchell is a passionate crime reporter and podcaster who has dedicated her life to seeking justice. Her relentless pursuit of the truth has freed a wrongfully convicted man from prison, making Tori an enemy of the true killer. When her nephew is accused of a different murder, nothing can stop her from getting involved and clearing his name.

Soon after Tori and Scott reconnect on the case, shots are fired, leaving them to wonder which of them has been targeted. As the investigation intensifies, so do the threats and the sparks between them, but Tori's doubtful if she can extend grace and trust to Scott. They'll have to combine their skills and rely on their growing relationship to outsmart the killer.

Perfect for fans of Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, Elizabeth Goddard, and readers who love faith-based fiction and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, this riveting, clean romantic suspense delivers heart-pounding danger and forced-proximity romance.

This is my fourth book by Patricia Bradley. I’ve enjoyed the first three books in the Pearl River series. I wasn’t aware that I was coming into the series late with this fifth book in the Logan Point series, but I can now tell you that it can stand alone! I was intrigued enough to search out book one (Shadows of the Past) to learn more about Scott Sinclair.

Two tiny things I want to get out of the way before continuing:
1) As a general practice, I avoid books featuring podcasters. I was assured by a bookish friend that Tori’s career as a crime podcaster was background to the plot of this book, and thankfully, it was true. So if this is a pet peeve of yours, too, don’t worry.
2) I struggled to differentiate between Jenny, Tori, and Victoria until I realized, a few chapters in, that Tori and Victoria were the same person! Argh. Don’t make my mistake. I had to go back and start afresh. It seems silly looking back at it now, but if I can save someone some frustration, I don’t mind looking silly.

There’s so much to love about this book! I did appreciate the flow of this story, and as a result, it became a binge read. I flipped pages, hoping that Tori’s nephew was innocent and that Scott and Tori wouldn’t get caught in the crosshairs defending him. Bradley’s consistently engaging reads, her ability to ramp up the tension and create unforeseen twists, and her stellar character development are what keep me coming back to her books.

I also appreciated the focus on forgiveness and identity, as I think these are two areas in which we could all do with some reminding. When I can find a lesson in a narrative that I can apply to my own life, I love the gentle nudge. Bradley’s faith thread is light, and the truths she upholds are worth reading about.

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Book Review: On The Edge of Trust by Patricia Bradley
4 Stars

Another good Patricia Bradley read! This book is a Christian Romantic Suspense that keeps you on edge with fast paced suspense, characters you root for and a faith thread that is naturally woven in the book.

We follow FIB undercover agent Scott Sinclair and Crime Reporter Podcaster Tori Mitchell. Scott and Tori work together as her nephew is accused of murder. Scott was wounded by gunshot and is recovering from the injury as it threatens his future career. Tori is a very passionate crime reporter and podcaster who continues to pursue the truth. She works to free wrongfully imprisoned people and search for the truth at all costs.

When her nephew is accused of a murder he didn't commit, she is trying to clear his name. Someone doesn't like her investigating though and comes after her...Scott and Tori are connecting, romance grows....stakes are intensifying....you know the drill.

I haven't read the other logan point books, but reading this, I don't feel like I missed anything. I liked the faith bits but do feel like it could have been explored a bit more, especially with Tori's journey. Scott was a previous alcoholic so it was nice to see his redemption story.

I have read a lot of Pat's books and would recommend them for good, Christian, romantic suspense. While this one wasn't my top fav, it was still pretty good and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook also.

Thank you to the publisher for a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. All thoughts are my own.

After reading Shadows of the Past where Scott Sinclair is an important but side character, on the Edge of Trust by Patricia Bradley puts Scott right in the spotlight. Scott has changed from a troubled teen to an undercover FBI agent who is recovering from an injury and becomes embroiled in a troubling murder investigation as he re-connects with Tori Mitchell.
This was a riveting story with many moving parts as Tori and Scott team up to find out who killed Jenny Tremont and why. Not only is the murder of Jenny a puzzle but the case reaches back in time to the murder of Walter Livingston and the connections to Tori are astounding.
I was pleased with how Scott had grown spiritually. He helped Tori to see that God could be trusted and Tori could rely on Him to lead her and protect her.
With precision plotting, the author crafted an intricate mystery that kept me guessing, although I wanted to yell at Tori a few times, not only for her independence but to have here wake up to the romance that was happening with Scott. She also finally decided to connect with her estranged family.
As always, I appreciated the creative story by a masterful writer.

On The Edge Of Trust is a faith-based suspenseful read with a side of clean romance. It kept me guessing the whole time and I loved the faith themes threaded throughout the story.

Crime reporter and podcaster Tori Mitchell has helped free an innocent man from jail, but her nephew has now been accused of a different murder. When she begins investigating her nephew’s case, she finds herself in the line of fire and unsure who is after her. While in the crosshairs, she reconnects with Scott Sinclair, an injured FBI agent, and the two of them are forced to work together to clear her nephew’s name and find the real killer.

This was a fun change of pace for me! I often enjoy watching crime shows, but haven’t picked up a book centered on one for a while. I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue, trying to guess who was really behind it all. The romance was light and sweet, not the star of the show, but that wasn’t a bad thing. It complimented the suspense well without taking away from it. If you’re looking for a clean, murder mystery, definitely check this one out!

Tori Mitchell is a crime reporter and podcaster who is always ardently seeking justice, even if it brings trouble to her door. FBI undercover agent Scott Sinclair is recovering from being shot in the arm, teams up with Tori to keep her safe and help her uncover a decades old mystery. By doggedly pursuing the truth, the wrongfully accused is now free, and the real murderer is now her enemy. Her nephew is in danger of being accused of another crime, and she comes back to her home town to do everything she can to help him.

I couldn't put it down. I love romantic suspense stories by Patricia Bradley, and highly recommend her latest "On the Edge of Trust". Romantic suspense readers will not want to miss this one!

Thank you to the author, publisher (Revell), and Net Galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

I’ve long wished for more books from Patricia Bradley in the Logan Point series. It was her first series and I immediately fell in love with the characters in this small Mississippi town. So imagine my absolute delight when I found out that On the Edge of Trust would take us back to Logan Point! It truly felt like seeing old friends that you haven’t seen in almost ten years (since book 4 released), something which made my reader heart so happy.

One of those characters we get to become reacquainted with is Scott Sinclair, an important side character (and brother to the hero) in Shadows of the Past. How lovely to see all the positive changes in Scott’s life from the troubled teen we knew then to the redeemed man he is now. All the bad choices and wrong turns, when surrendered to Jesus’ work of grace in Scott’s life, have made him such a compelling character. The perfect person to show up for Tori’s nephew Drew who needs someone that understands what he’s dealing with. And the perfect person to show up for Tori, in the immediate sense when she needs a protector and in the happily-ever-after sense too. Even if some aspects of his testimony make her mind hesitate when it comes to acting on the chemistry between them, her heart longs to jump in with both feet.

Tori Mitchell is my kind of heroine. Gutsy, smart, determined, nosy (haha). I loved that she’s a crime reporter and podcaster, for the intriguing layers of suspense it adds to the story as well as the opportunities it gives us to see her sleuthing skills in action. Plus, she’s a cool aunt so you know I was a fan. And oh how I related to her struggles to believe in the goodness of God after a season of deep grief. I’ve asked the same questions – almost word for word – over the last four years, and God continues to use stories like this one to remind me that He is faithful even with what I don’t understand. Her faith journey, and Scott’s role in it, really touched me, and I was rooting for her to finally surrender to healing and peace for her broken heart.

Speaking of the suspense, there are several different threads that could be distinct… or may be related… and I had lots of fun diving into it all, right along with Tori and Scott and Sheriff Ben. Her investigative work has freed an innocent man from prison, putting Tori in the real killer’s crosshairs. Her interview with a domestic abuse survivor may have put her on the ex’s revenge list too, and her teenage nephew is under suspicion for killing a family friend so she’s determined to solve that case too. Oh, and Scott’s recent past adds its own set of complications to the mix, too. Gunshots, fires, accidents… someone is clearly after Tori (or maybe Scott) but who? And which of the cases are they connected to? Needless to say, I stayed on the edge of my seat, trying to guess the answer(s) to all of those questions and the identity of the culprit(s) too. Bradley seamlessly blended the suspense, the faith themes, and the romance with small town buzz, family drama, and compelling characters – I read it as fast as I could while also wishing I could linger just a little bit longer in the story.

Bottom Line: There’s just something about revisiting a beloved fictional town. And returning to Logan Point on the pages of On the Edge of Trust by Patricia Bradley indeed felt like coming home – if home were full of danger, secrets, faith, romance, and murder. All of the above notwithstanding, it was delightful to see how far some familiar faces have come in the last ten years, especially redeemed-and-ready-to-protect (but not perfect) Scott. His story – and his chemistry with tenacious Tori – hit all the right notes for me: grace-filled, romantic, and just the right dose of ‘look behind you!’. Between the tangled investigations, the growing sense of trust (and love!) between our protagonists, and the way God’s restoration threads through the details, On the Edge of Trust hits that sweet spot of suspense, emotion, and second chances. This book reminded me why I fell in love with this series, and Patricia Bradley’s writing, in the first place… and left me hoping for another return visit to Logan Point in the hopefully-not-too-distant future. (By the way, if you haven’t read Bradley’s Logan Point books yet, don’t worry! This one is a great place to jump in!)

SPECTACULAR ROMANTIC SUSPENSE

I've been a devoted fan of author Patricia Bradley for years, and her work holds a special place in my heart—especially because she's from my home state, and many of her thrilling series are set right here. It's such a treat to read about familiar places and vividly picture the action unfolding in our own backyards.

Her latest release, "On the Edge of Trust," is an electrifying romantic suspense that kept me hooked from start to finish. Bradley excels at creating multidimensional, believable characters whose struggles and passions draw you in. The plot races along at a breakneck pace, ensuring you'll be perched on the edge of your seat through every twist and turn. Her detailed descriptions bring the settings to life, allowing you to imagine every scene vividly as the drama unfolds.

The story kicks off with an unusual pairing: FBI undercover agent Scott Sinclair, recovering from a gunshot wound to his right arm—he’s practicing casting with his left hand, frustrated that his injury might sideline his shooting skills—and Tori Mitchell, a sharp crime reporter and podcaster determined to seek justice. When they're unexpectedly fired upon, the chaos pulls them together. Scott tries to scare off their attackers with his shaky shots, which, humorously, are more likely to hit the side of a barn than their target.

Tori has recently fought to free an innocent man from prison and is personally affected, as her nephew has also been accused of a crime he didn't commit. Although they just met, circumstances thrust them into a joint mission: uncover the truth behind the attack. Was Tori caught in the crossfire or was she the intended target? As the case is reopened, questions swirl—are the suspects after Scott because of his current undercover work, or is there a deeper conspiracy at play?

Expect plenty of mischief, mayhem, malice, and murder before justice finally prevails. This gripping plot is packed with twists, featuring a cast of memorable characters—some from influential families believed to be above the law—as well as old friends and new allies. And amidst all the suspense, a fresh romantic interest blooms.

Thanks to Revell and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book. As always, these are my honest opinions.

I never miss a new story from Patricia Bradley and this one did not disappoint. This particular story is a fun one because we get to go back to Logan Point which is where her first series was set and we get to see familiar faces from that series. The mystery of this one is good and the baggage that the main characters are dealing with added great elements to the story. The pieces of this mystery kept me guessing and the ending was exciting. Enjoyed this read!

Action packed and full of suspense and danger
I enjoyed meeting Tori and watching her attempt to solve this crime. Actually two crimes. The one being perpetrated against her - it seemed someone was determined to do anything to stop her, not even caring if that meant killing her. And...bringing light to a previously resolved situation, where an innocent man had been accused, and bringing the real criminal to justice.
Could it be that the two are intertwined?
Tori and Scott (former undercover FBI agent) worked together on this, and of course, seeing a relationship form between them was also enjoyable.
I found myself turning pages and hooked!
If you enjoy suspense, then be sure and read this one!

Title: On the Edge of Trust
Author: Patricia Bradley
Genre: Romantic Suspense
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Synopsis: When true crime podcaster Tori Mitchell finds out her nephew is being questioned for murder, she finds herself back in her hometown trying to discover the truth. But with all the cases she’s investigated, harm follows her home along with the past that’s never left. Much to her surprise, Scott Sinclair has finally made something of himself in law enforcement. But with a rough past, Tori isn’t confident that this positive change is permanent. As the two work together to uncover the case, Tori and Scott must see if they can trust each other with their lives and their hearts.

Analysis: Patricia Bradley is a new-to-me author, but this book had me wanting to go read the rest of her Logan Point series! While I did enjoy the book overall, I think it will be appreciated more if you have the backstory of some of the characters. Now that said, the murder mystery was intriguing! And I loved reading about a true crime podcaster and LEO! The romance was sweet, and I really loved the redemption and healing for both Tori and Scott. If you’re looking for a quick romantic suspense read, this is a great book to grab!

Great romantic suspense by Patricia Bradley! When I requested this one, I didn't realize it was an addition to an older series and I haven't yet finished Ms. Bradley's backlist, so I started the Logan Point Series with book 5. It was easy enough to follow without the history as there was enough background information; however, I think fans of the series will get greater enjoyment as they will have more character history than I did. This book hits the ground running with a blackmail and a murder in the first few pages and the victim puts Tori Mitchell in the killer's crosshairs before she dies. When Tori is flushed back into Logan Point, she finds herself in need of the protection that only Scott Sinclair can provide. Can they find out who is after Tori before it's too late?

The suspense element of this story was excellent! It hit the ground running and didn't let up till the end. Though I'm hard to stump, I wasn't quite sure whodunit till we got to the end, which made the ride all that more enjoyable. The romance element moved a bit quickly for my liking as romantic suspense is wont to do, but with the forced proximity and shared history, it was a bit more palatable. There was a solid faith thread as Tori had fallen away from her faith after her mom's death, but she became aware of her need of God when things became too great for her to bear. That also fed into great character development as well. My only complaint was that Scott seemed a bit too "free" in sharing his undercover work to people he didn't know well, which seemed a bit counterintuitive - especially in a small town where everyone knows everything about everyone. But all in all, this was a great story and one I could easily recommend to fans of romantic suspense. Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Thank you to Patricia Bradley, Baker Publishing Group, and NetGalley for giving me access to an eARC of this novel to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Scott Sinclair is an undercover FBI agent who has come home to recover from a gunshot wound and Tori Mitchell is a crime reporter and podcaster who helped free a man who was wrongly accused of killing a man. Unfortunately, this has made her a target of the real killers. Meanwhile, her nephew has become a suspect in a murder. Scott and Tori reconnect by chance and then it becomes apparent they will have to work together to keep Tori safe and figure out watch is going with the murder her nephew is accused of.

This book was a fairly good book for the most part. I found it to be pretty predictable, and I thought the ending was very abrupt. I enjoyed the fact that, Scott, a character from an earlier book who had not so great of a story was given a redemption story of sorts in this book. I enjoyed the fact that Tori had to deal with issues that had haunted her for years. That being said, there many things that I thought should have been more fleshed out. Some of the faith elements should have been more fleshed out. It also felt like I was missing some information. As a general rule, I love Patricia Bradley’s writing, but out of the two books I have read in this series, this was my least favorite.

I will definitely still read what comes next! She is an amazing writer!

If you are a fan of Christian suspense, especially those set in the South you will enjoy this book. If you are looking for an in depth book this might not be the one for you.

4.5 rounded up

This is the 5th book in the author's Logan Point series but can totally be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this one and will be going back to read the others.

Tori Mitchell, a dedicated true crime podcaster, has committed her life to the pursuit of justice. Her investigative skills led to the release of a man who was wrongfully convicted of murder. However, this means that the actual killer remains at large, and Tori has made them angry. She's determined to find the real murderer, which leads her back to her hometown. When she arrives she finds out her nephew is being accused of a different murder. She'll do anything to prove his innocence, even put her life on the line.
Scott Sinclair was recently shot and, while recuperating from the injury, he has been residing with his brother in Logan Point. He was an undercover FBI Agent and is determined to recover fully and regain his position.
Tori and Scott went to high school together, and when they reconnect, sparks start to fly in more ways than one. Their first encounter begins with shots being fired at them. Is someone after Tori because of what she did, or are they the bad guys Scott took down seeking vengeance? Meanwhile, Tori's nephew may be charged with murder, and Tori needs to prove his innocence. As the investigation heats up, so do the threats. Will Tori and Scott be able to work together to find the killer? Will Tori ever trust Scott?

This book hooked me from the very first chapter. It was fast-paced and filled with a lot of tension. The mystery was intriguing, and the suspense had me on the edge of my seat. There was murder, mayhem, greed, danger, redemption, and romance. There was even some family drama.Tori and Scott were great characters, and I loved getting to know them. I also loved all the different angles in the story. There was never a dull moment. If you're looking for a gripping, twisty, romantic suspense I highly recommend this one!🩷

My Thoughts

ON THE EDGE OF TRUST is written
by Patricia Bradley. This is book five in the Logan Point series. I’ve not read all the books, and I didn’t have any issues following along.

In this story we meet Tori Mitchell who is a crime-reporter/podcaster who has built her career around seeking justice and exposing truth. She finds herself in the crosshairs when she is trying to figure out who killed Jenny Tremont. They don’t want to be bright to justice. Tori finds herself in a heap of trouble and she heads to Logan point to try and clear her nephews name. This is where she meets Scott Sinclair.

Scott is an FBI agent who is recovering from a gunshot wound. He and Tori team up and he helps her to investigate. He’s not officially on the case but it’s clear that someone doesn’t want Tori digging into the case.

This book is packed full of action and suspense. It’s the perfect blend of mystery, suspense and romance. While I’ve not read any other Logan Point Books I’ll definitely be checking them out to get the full grip of the series.

This book is well written. The storyline is engaging. You won’t want to put it down. Thank you to the author, publisher and Partners In Crime for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

This story had multilayers of suspense that kept me riveted to the pages chapter after chapter. Tori is a podcaster that digs up mysteries that highlight murders and their suspects. Scott is an undercover FBI agent recovering from a job related injury that has sidelined him for a while. They both grew up in the same small town and have a history. Because of Scott’s past, Tori has a hard time trusting him. They are drawn together unexpectedly facing an assailant shooting at them. Who is he after? Tori because of her podcasts or Scott because of his FBI job? They find themselves working together to unravel this mystery while dodging bullets and car chases threatening their lives. I’m always interested in the characters and their growth throughout a story. Tori was living with unforgiveness in her heart toward family members and distrust in Scott because of his former alcoholism. Scott has grown in his faith but Tori is lagging behind. Seeing their character growth was special to me. There was no lagging chapters in this story and I was fully engaged throughout.

[Thank you to @netgalley and to @revellfiction for my complimentary copy of this title. All opinions are my own.]

Guys, I absolutely LOVED this book. This is only the second book of the series that I’ve gotten to read, and I’m so happy that there are three more released already so that I can go back and read more. I think Patricia Bradley is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and definitely an auto-buy/pre-order author in the future.

The suspense in this book was on point, and I loved the multiple angles and mysteries that were worked throughout the story. The characters were easy to root for, and I loved that the FMC was a true-crime reporter and podcaster–what a cool career!

Read "On the Edge of Trust" if you’re looking for:

Faith themes of redemption and forgiveness
Undercover FBI agent MMC
Small Town
Family
Lots of action and suspense
Clean romance (light)

Highly recommend!

On the Edge of Trust will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The suspense intensifies as danger fills each page. Patricia Bradley does not disappoint readers in this romantic suspense novel!
Crime reporter and podcaster, Tori Mitchell, finds herself a target after sharing her thoughts on a podcast concerning the innocence of a man sent to prison for a murder he didn’t commit, which meant the killer was still out there and now wants to silence her from digging any further.
Scott Sinclair FBI undercover agent, is under gunfire and thinks it’s someone from his past, but he spots Tori in the distance and runs to protect her from the attack. He is uncertain who is out to kill her. Or were they after him? Regardless, he’d been spotted with her, and now her life is in danger too. Or was he a target because of her?
They must work together to unravel the truth, but not without risks. Will they build a relationship, or will Tori squelch it in the end?

A podcaster, always seems to bring out the bad guys. Not always in a good way.

logan point has always been home, tori makes a trip back home, her nephew needs help.
While being home, some broken bridges can be mended while criminals could be caught double crossing everyone.

Running into an old friend, sometimes can be dangerous, but sometimes things can be pleasant.

This was a intriguing story. The characters are fascinating, logan point feels like a small town.Anyone could feel home in.

I enjoyed the story. This was the first read for me by this author and I'll look for more books by her.

On the Edge of Trust is a thrilling return to Logan Point. Reading the earlier books isn’t essential, but since I loved them when I read them years ago, I was happy for a chance to return. The story of mystery and intrigue, navigating the issues of trust, forgiveness, letting go and moving forward, all while trying to determine who is trying to harm Tori and who has committed murder and still remains free kept me spellbound. I couldn’t put this book down.

WOW this was an intriguing and intricately written novel that will have you second guessing every character and their motives.

Tori’s pod cast may get her in some deep trouble but will Scott be able to protect her through it all or is the danger that follows him also following Tori. Lots of suspense and mystery rolled into this great Romantic suspense. One you won’t want to put down!

Another exciting thrill ride from Patricia Bradley! I recently discovered her books & she’s quickly become a must read romantic suspense author for me. On the Edge of Trust’s one action packed twist after another as true crime podcaster Tori Mitchell & undercover FBI agent Scott Sinclair work to solve a murder & clear her nephew’s name.

Tori’s a talented crime reporter/podcaster dedicated to freeing the wrongfully accused & seeking justice for victims. Her recent reporting has made her a target, but who’s trying to silence her? Is it the violent husband of a woman sharing her story on Tori’s podcast, or the real killer after her investigation leads to freeing the wrongfully accused man? When Tori’s teenage nephew Drew becomes the suspect in a murder investigation, she returns to her Mississippi hometown to try to clear his name, but, the threats against her follow her to Logan Point.

FBI agent Scott Sinclair’s currently on leave after a gunshot wound to his right arm. He inadvertently reconnects with Tori after someone takes a shot at her, & he soon becomes involved in helping to clear Drew’s name. Scott’s troubled past, including a history of alcoholism, makes Tori weary of him despite the attraction between them. But, Scott’s years of sobriety & intriguing faith make her heart yearn to overrule her head.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story & found it impossible to put down. Tori’s a strong, intelligent heroine you easily want to cheer for. Though she struggles with faith & her relationship with her father, she’s determined to face her past. I loved seeing her opinions change after working with Scott.

Scott’s such an amazing guy. He’s humble, intelligent, & faithful. Even when Tori’s suspicious of him, he easily forgives. Loved their slow burn romance & the way his redemption story helped Tori reexamine her beliefs.

The mystery was complex with several moving parts & suspects. Drew stumbles on to the murder scene of family friend Jenny Tremont after retrieving something she’s hidden. When seen leaving the house, he becomes the chief suspect. Drew’s such a compelling character & I was rooting for him along with Tori & Scott. The suspense was intense with a climactic ending that had me on the edge of my seat!

I listened to the audiobook version & thoroughly enjoyed the narrator. She did a fantastic job bringing each of the characters to life. I appreciated the perfect amount of emotion she infused into each character.

Highly recommend! Though part of a series, I had no problem reading this book as a standalone. Looking forward to reading the previous books in the series. I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review, and also purchased the audiobook. All opinions are my own & provided voluntarily.

Tori Alexander is a podcaster and crime reporter with a passion for justice - even when it's uncomfortable. Scott Sinclair is struggling to recouperate from the gunshot wound which damaged his right arm and threatens his career. He is training himself to shoot with his left hand, when he unexpectedly finds himself trying to protect Tori from a random gunman and then is pulled into the case she's involved with. Tori is NOT keen to be returning to her home town, but when her nephew gets mixed up in a murder case - as a prime suspect - she has no choice.

It's clear early on that there is a spark between Tori and Scott, but Tori struggles to trust Scott, or God, who she feels ignored her prayers and isn't interested in her. Scott's past is threatening his future, and his past and his faith are both red flags to Tori. They have to work together though, and Tori will learn several lessons about trust before they are through.

I found this a little bit flat as a read and it took quite a while to really feel engaged with the characters. There is plenty of drama early on and I was initially much more interested in the studio fire and the events around that than I was about Jenny. Which was a shame since Jenny was murdered (not a spoiler!). The story itself is well told and the characters are believable and have depth although dealing with both main character's back stories and their consequences, AND the question of who killed Jenny, and how Drew can get out of the mess he's got himself into are quite a lot to deal with. Maybe I'm slightly jaded with characters who have 'difficult families' as I found Scott more interesting than Tori. Although I would be interested to know more about Tori and Amy's podcast.

A good read for suspense enthusiasts, with a slow-burner romance and light faith elements. Despite my comments above, I am still keen to see what this author writes next.

Note for transparency: I read a pre-publication review copy. I was not obligated to write a positive review. The comments above are my own personal views, and mine alone.

Tori Mitchell is a seasoned crime reporter/podcaster with a nose for justice and seeking the truth. She is passionate about her job and is relentless and even at times fearless. She has avoided her hometown of Logan Point for a while due to a painful past, but she felt she needed to come to town to assist her nephew, who has been accused of murder. It seems trouble has followed her to town when bullets start whizzing.

Undercover FBI agent Scott Sinclair is recovering from a gunshot wound that has sidelined him from his job, and may permanently sideline him. When he hears the gunshots, he automatically goes into protective mode, which is how he meets Tori.

Both Scott and Tori have some emotional baggage that needs to be discarded and dealt with. Tori is also holding a terrible grudge that has somewhat dimmed her view of life in general and has definitely taken her far from a healthy relationship with God.

I really admired Scott. He had a painful past with many regrets, but he has beaten his addiction and tries to help others who have the same problems. He knows he is only one drink away from falling back to old habits, but his faith keeps him strong.

It had a little bit of everything that I have come to expect from this author. It was filled with intrigue, suspense and a lot of puzzle pieces that at first glance make no sense. However, as the story plays out all of the puzzle pieces start falling into place. It was also a very emotional book.

Forgiveness, restoration of family relationships and restoration of faith play a huge part of this story. All of these things added up to make a fantastic story with wonderful characters.

Thank you to Revell and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wow! I did NOT see that ending coming! Patricia Bradley has quickly joined my list of all-time favorite authors. I enjoy the romantic suspense genre (with a faith-based theme running through it) and she is right up there with the very best.

On the Edge of Trust takes readers back to Logan Point, where true crime podcaster Tori Mitchell was instrumental in overturning a murder conviction. One of Logan Point's most prestigious families lost a loved one and no one there is happy to see the person they believed to be a killer walking the streets a free man. Everyone in town has believed for 20 years that the murderer was doing time, but Tori's investigation into the case leads to his release from prison. If he didn't do it, who did? And will that person kill again to keep their secret hidden?

Scott Sinclair grew up in Logan Point and had no desire to return to the town that looked down on him. (He actually first appeared in Bradley's first Logan Point book, Shadows of the Past.) Staying with his brother and his wife as he rehabs his right arm, he reconnects with Tori only to rescue her from a shooter. Learning that she left Memphis because of threats to her life, he "unofficially" appoints himself her protector but can he keep her safe when he only has one good arm, and the danger seems to come from more than one source?

This story had so many threads to pull! Just when I thought I figured out "whodunit", Bradley threw in another twist. This story carried themes of forgiveness, deep family wounds, and grace. Readers who enjoy authors like Irene Hannon, Nancy Mehl, or Lynette Eason, will enjoy any of Patricia Bradley's series: Logan Point, Memphis Cold Case, Natchez Trace Park Rangers, or Pearl River. I've read them all, and they have all been 5 star reads!

"Someone had killed Jenny. . . . . He'd call his aunt - she solved crimes - she'd know what to do."

Crime podcaster Tori Mitchell closed out her show with an eerie feeling, had that caller just delivered a thinly veiled threat? Her recent investigative work had resulted in setting an innocent man free, meaning the real criminal was still at large. Maybe it was time to take a trip home, put some distance between her and the caller and see what she could dig up, never for a minute anticipating that her teen nephew had just become a suspect in a murder.

F. B. I. undercover agent Scott Sinclair is in Logan Point rehabilitating his right hand after a potentially career ending injury. Out fly fishing, he intercepts Tori racing away from an active shooter. What were the chances? His long-ago summer crush had certainly grown into a beautiful woman and from the looks of it, she wasn't ready and willing to trust an old friend for assistance.

As Tori and Scott soon discover, they have become embroiled in a nasty situation that neither of them fully understand, but are forced to accept. Lives are hanging in the balance, including theirs!

Criss-crossing people and possibilities, this romantic suspense accelerates quickly and maintains that steady pace through every chapter, blending in characters from the original series while expanding those from the sidelines. The exceptional word flow, tender moments, and brain puzzling clues add up to one of the best novels this author has written!

Have you read any of the Logan Point series? I hadn’t either until I got my hands on this one. This falls into the category of romantic suspense and is the kind I like to read that falls into that genre.
I met Tori Mitchell (Victoria) who is a podcaster and is taken back to her hometown where trouble was brewing, mostly centered around her nephew, Drew. She only went back to her hometown to tie up some loose ends and to further investigate some of the very cold cases she was looking into only to run into Scott Sinclair.
Scott was recovering from a wound he suffered in a previous case, and he also harbored a secret about the kind of profession he was in. He sure wasn’t expecting Tori and how dogged she could be in her pursuit of the truth.
I enjoyed reading all the ins and outs, the ups and downs, the trails that led down one path only to veer off in another direction entirely. I liked the ‘heat’ that formed between Tori and Scott … it was just enough to know that there was passion there, a mutual attraction but not so much as to be off putting (at least for my preference in the romance genre). I also liked the fact that Scott was steadfast in his belief in God and that Tori was struggling in hers, making these two characters more relatable.
And let’s not forget about the family dynamics that were thrown in. Tori was coming to grips with some emotional things in her personal life, looking for a resolution and not sure if she’d find them. Again, to me, this made Tori a very relatable character.
If you like romantic suspense in the Christian genre, that also happens to be a series, you may just want to pick this one up.

Patricia Bradley—my reliable source of romantic suspense—has released the fifth book in the Logan Point series, ON THE EDGE OF TRUST. And I was not disappointed. Plenty of thrills, chills, and page-turning action. Yet, as expected, there is a satisfactory balance of romance and faith.

THE STORY: Scott Sinclair, a decorated undercover FBI agent, finds himself haunted by his forced hiatus after a gunshot wound jeopardizes his future in law enforcement. Desperate for redemption, Scott is drawn to a case involving crime podcaster Tori Mitchell, whose nephew—her only remaining family that she hasn’t alienated—stands accused of murder. Tori’s relentless drive to clear her nephew’s name leads her to risk everything, refusing to back down in the face of mounting evidence. As Scott and Tori’s paths intertwine, their determination puts them squarely in the crosshairs of a cunning killer, forcing them to outsmart a threat that grows deadlier with every revelation.

5 STARS BECAUSE: this book is memorable because the story isn’t just the action, but how the romance and faith are woven into the fabric of the story. As Scott and Tori work together, their relationship grows naturally from mutual respect and shared vulnerability, deepening as the danger intensifies. The challenges they face not only test their courage but also their faith, with both characters leaning into prayer and hope during the darkest moments. This blend of edge-of-your-seat thrills, heartfelt romance, and authentic faith makes ON THE EDGE OF TRUST both riveting and uplifting—a must-read for fans of the genre.

** “I’m not used to depending on others — I didn’t get that gene, and I’m not sure how long it’ll take me to adjust.” **

After first taking us to Logan Point more than 10 years ago, Patricia Bradley returns us there in “On the Edge of Trust.”

True crime podcaster Tori Mitchell must return to her hometown of Logan Point when her teen nephew, Drew, is accused of murdering his mom’s best friend Jenny. Knowing he’s innocent, she rushes home to come to his aid.

When Tori is targeted in several dangerous incidents, though, she must figure out who is behind the attacks. Is it the ex-husband of the abused woman Tori is trying to help through her podcast? Or someone involved in the decades-old hometown murder where she helped exonerate a falsely convicted man? And do either of those situations have anything to do with Jenny’s murder? Can Tori figure out what’s going on, and can she accept the help of former FBI undercover agent Scott Sinclair?

Bradley always excels at weaving together a plot featuring decades-old incidents and current day crimes, as well as developing characters with doubts, fears, trust issues and relatable flaws. She also fills her story with great themes, like learning to trust others; overcoming past misgivings; you can’t find peace with anger in your heart; and being OK with depending on others.

Fans of authors like Terri Blackstock, Kelly Irvin and Lynette Eason will love “On the Edge of Trust,” which is due out Nov. 4.

Five stars out of five.

Welcome back to Logan Point. Ten years ago, I read the first Patricia Bradley novel set in Logan Point. I was hooked. Her latest novel takes us back there and brings us together again with a few of the original characters. Scott Sinclair was introduced in the first book, but a lot has happened in his life since then with one of the most recent events potentially ending his career as an FBI undercover agent. That remains to be seen, but he isn’t ready yet to call it quits. Tori Mitchell is a brilliant podcaster who is tenacious when it comes to protecting those she loves and digging until she finds the bone of truth, even if it has been buried for years. Obviously, based on the opening chapters, either someone is afraid Tori is going to find that bone, or someone has figured out where Scott is and has come to finish what they attempted several months earlier. Either way, the race is on to see whether the truth is learned, or the crooks get found out. In the meantime, there are fences to be mended among the good guys, trust to be earned, relationships to heal, and more. Bradley does an excellent job of developing the characters so they are dealing with many of the issues we all deal with at one point or another. We may not deal with the kind of evil these characters face, but we face troubles and trials as we walk the road of life. Along with the action, suspense, and romance, you just might find some answers to problems you are facing with other people. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

On the Edge of Trust is a new book set in the same town as Patricia Bradley’s Logan Point series. The book is action-packed from the first page. While this book is written as a standalone, it ties in closely with her previous series set in Logan Point. You can learn more about the main character Scott Sinclair’s past in the book Shadows of the Past. I highly recommend the whole series.
This book follows Scott, an injured undercover FBI agent, and Tori Mitchell, a crime reporter and podcaster. Tori finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer after helping set an innocent man free. Enemies from the past and present are converging and only Scott can help her find the truth.
The main characters are each dealing with personal struggles. Scott is trying to figure out who he is apart from his job and Tori struggles to move beyond her past to open her heart again to family and friends.
I loved being back in Logan Point and learning more about the town and seeing familiar faces throughout it. Bradley does not disappoint, mixing suspense, mystery, and romance in an intricate plot that will keep you guessing to the end.
I’m not sure yet if this book will be a jumping off point for a new Logan Point series but I certainly hope it is. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
