Otherworldly

Rate this book
A hilarious and action-packed adventure from the acclaimed author of Interview with the Robot.

Mark and Levi’s podcast takes a turn when a spaceship crashes in the backyard, and along with Levi’s older sister Brooke, they make contact with an extraterrestrial—a furry, purple creature they name Sky who was separated from the rest of her crew during an intergalactic mission. If she doesn’t make contact with them soon, she’ll never see her home again.

Unfortunately, the kids aren’t the only ones who know about the alien’s arrival on Earth. A group of mysterious adults in black suits have begun following them. They’ve kidnapped Brooke’s boyfriend, Gavin, with Sky as ransom.

But Mark isn’t about to let any of this derail the podcast. He keeps recording the drone-chase through the yards of their suburban town, the tense hideout inside a mall, the perilous standoff with an enormous spaceship. It’s all vividly depicted in this fun, fast-paced adventure that’ll keep listeners glued to their speakers and headphones.

I grew up in College Station, TX and first began writing in elementary school. I would write stories and poems with the intention of making my classmates laugh. Twenty years later, I used this same technique to write my first kid’s book.

Over the years, I’ve worked a lot of different jobs—farm laborer, art gallery assistant, bartender, assistant literary agent—before settling on the two jobs that I currently hold: Writer and freelance translator. I now live in Brooklyn with my wife and two cats.

Fun short story about preteens and aliens. Other works have done nearly the same spin better, but this isn't bad.

This was a really fun listen. The sound effects, the actors voices and the well told story made this audio book a five star experience for me. Not just for middle schoolers but for anyone of any age that likes a good story. I loved the humor thrown in with all the kid related stuff that kids deal with day to day. Fitting in, growing pains, friendship and sibling rivalry. So much fun. This audio book is for all of us who are kids at heart.
Highly recommended. 5 stars.

What a cute quick read.

The open ended ending leaves me wanting more.

Will there be another book??

I hope so

Such a cute story. Although the space-obsessed billionaire douche canoe reminds me of someone .... :)

Pretty cute. Definitely only recycled jokes and nothing really original. Still fairly cute listen. My niece and nephew were mostly bored but did listen to the whole thing. Not great, not bad.
