From the balcony of my tower, I watch the streets below, a maze of light and shadow, chaos and order. It's a reflection of me, really. Fragile on the surface, but venomous at the core.
I've always known the price of power.
I've paid it in sleepless nights, ruthless deals, and the slow erosion of my soul. But the cost of meeting him, the man who haunts my every step, is something I can't even begin to tally.
I shift my weight, the metal grating creaking softly under his imposing form. His presence is a palpable force, filling the space around us with an aura of dark intensity. He leans against the balcony railing, eyes fixed on me with an unnerving focus that makes my skin prickle.
It doesn't matter how many times I see him, he always pulls the same reaction out of me.
Fear.
And excitement.
He is my enemy. The one I hate the most. But I don't know why my blood hums when he's close. Why my skin burns under the weight of his gaze?
I hate him, but I can't resist him.
His touch,
His breath, the way his voice wraps around me like a dark spell, Everything he does leaves me trembling and raw. I know there's something wrong with me.
"You shouldn't be here,"
The moonlight catches the sharp angles of his face, highlighting the predator's smirk tugging at his lips.
"And yet, here I am."
His tone is laced with mockery, but beneath it, there's a simmering heat that makes my stomach clench.
I step closer, my bare feet whispering against the cold marble floor.
"You've made it clear enough that you hate me. So why keep coming back, Riven?"
"Hate you?"
His laugh is dark, low, and entirely too intimate. The space between us shrinks to nothing in an instant. His fingers brush a lock of my hair back, his touch deceptively tender.
"I don't hate you, Mercelline. I want to ruin you. There's a difference."
My breath catches as his lips ghost over my ear, the heat of his words melting the resolve I've tried so hard to build.
"You're a dangerous man," I whisper, but even as the words escape me, my body betrays me, leaning into him.
"And you,"
Pressing me against the cold glass of the window, "Are a dangerous addiction. The one I don't plan to quit."
I should push him away. I should tell him to leave. Instead, my nails scrape down his chest, pulling him closer as our lips collide, a clash of fury and lust. His hands roam my body with unapologetic possession, claiming what was never his to have.
I gasp between kisses. His growl rumbles against my throat as he bites down lightly, making me moan.
"You're playing with fire,"
"Then burn with me, little pet."
From sworn enemies to lovers... it defied all logic and reason. Yet here we were, lost in a web of desire and obsession that neither of us could escape. Riven was my poison, my antidote... the very air I breathed now.
And I him - his cruel touch igniting fires within me as surely as his gentle caresses soothed my battered soul.
In his arms, I'd found a home - one where love and hate blurred into an intoxicating cocktail that left me craving more with every passing second.
This was our story - dark, depraved, and utterly doomed from the start. But for now... for this fleeting instant... we reveled in the twisted beauty of it all
I think it's a good book for being the first one from this author, however for me it's a 3.2 star.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good Dark Romance but I think everything happens so fast And I don't love that you Know, I need More mind games, more stress, More angst....I don't love the nickname either but Tastes are different for everyone...so choose your Venom 🤫
Now as a story, the MMC left me speechless 🤐, What he feels is not a joke, If he has to take tough measures he will do it like bang bang 🔫🔫🔫🔫, And the FMC...She's fiercy but Idk she fell too fast🤔🤔🤔 anyway I think if you like dark romance with a stalker this Is for you 🫰🏼oh btw these two are Rivals 💥
I am so grateful to the author for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC 🩶, and I look forward to seeing more of her books and what she has to offer.

ARC Review not by a professional just a girl who loves to read. – *Haunted by Obsession* 🖤👻**
Riven—the Serpent—is a powerful, cold, and accomplished CEO Merceline—the Rose—is a strong, driven businesswoman with a spicy, no-nonsense attitude.
This story follows two powerful people navigating a ruthless world where "business is a game, and everyone plays it differently."-Merceline. When Riven meets Merceline at a party, there’s instant chemistry and some flirtatious banter—but something about her lingers in his mind. It feels like the beginning of an obsession, though he doesn’t quite understand it yet.
What surprised me most was the dark turn the story takes—it adds a thrilling edge I didn’t expect (and I won’t spoil it!). 👻
The plot is captivating and definitely worth a read if you’re into CEO romance with a darker, spicier, psychological twist. 🌶️🖤... It gets pretty dark!
My only critique is that some of the dialogue felt a bit unnatural at times and could’ve flowed more smoothly.
Honestly, *Haunted by Obsession* wasn’t really my thing, though I might give it another shot with the physical copy. I’m more into fantasy—think vampires and all that—so didn’t fully hook me, and I found myself skimming through parts. But I will admit, by page 149, I was completely captivated. There’s a twist that really took me by surprise! It’s dark and gripping—definitely something I wasn’t expecting.
That said, it’s still an easy read with a clear writing style. If you’re into the competitors(enemy) -to-lovers dynamic, strong characters, dark romance, and a mix of psychological tension, obsession, and power plays, this could be right up your alley. It definitely has its spicy, intense moments!
I do recommend to get yourself a copy and read it for yourself 😊 *I found that I'm a mood reader, so I will definitely be buying a copy to re read it ** 🖤 🖤 🖤 Some favorite quotes: 😍🌶️🖤
*"Let the world watch her rise, but they’ll see soon enough who truly holds the power."*
"You belong to me, and that will never change, little pet."
I want to start off by saying that I know this author wants feedback and my first point is you did it! You wrote a book. You got it published. That’s AMAZING. For me, I think the book fell flat in a few ways.
Personally I don’t feel the need for a prologue that sets up the two MCs will be getting together. We know, we can just get to it.
I also noticed in the first few chapters Mercelline spots and speaks to/has an introductory chat with Kyle the best friend twice. So the continuity was off after that.
The pacing was also a little chaotic, some points the chapters dragged something out across several and others things were rushed squished into one. It made it feel very chaotic.
As well personally if it’s set in a modern contemporary time and everyone else’s names are Kyle, Jake, etc. why are the MC’s straight out of a fantasy Mercelline and Riven? It took me out a bit.
Personally I am not a fan of the nicknames in any books so it took it out for me. I do know a ton of people who are so that’s a personal preference.
I also felt like the obsession came about very instantly and sort of out of nowhere. He saw and spoke to her once and all of a sudden he’s obsessed and wanting to destroy her and wanting her and stalking her basically. I felt like there was no real build up. His best friend pushing him consistently about a girl he spoke to for all of five minutes also felt very odd like a forced set up.
Over all I think I enjoyed the concept of this book but the execution just did not hit for me. But again writing a book is such an amazing feat and the author should be really proud.
I received this as an eARC and am incredibly thankful to the author for giving me the opportunity to be one of the first’s to read her work! Writing and publishing a book is an incredible feat and a lot of hard work so the author should be very proud!
Unfortunately for me I had to DNF this book at 30%. I think a large part of it was because it was much more contemporary than what I usually read as I enjoy high fantasy elements. The dialogue and cooperate structure of the companies really took me out of the book personally. I found myself flying through the pages but not really understanding what was going and wishing there was more build-up and world/setting building. It felt rushed that the MMC became obsessed with her not even after a 5 minute conversation and the development of the characters fell flat for me causing me to lose interest.
HOWEVER! I think if you are looking for a quick and easy dark contemporary romance read this is for you. I didn’t make it to the spice scenes personally but from the except I read they seem to hit all the major elements that you would enjoy. I am looking forward to seeing what other things this author comes out with and again want to applaud her as she starts her debut!
Riven, The Serpent (billionaire CEO of Zenith Energy) is obsessed with Mercelline, The Rose (billionaire CEO of MELF Cosmetics)—and their story is just as intense and dramatic as it sounds.
This debut novel has a unique setup and a dark, high-stakes vibe that kicks up a notch about halfway through. Told in dual POV, it dives deep into obsession, power, and control.
That said, I struggled a bit with the writing style—some of the dialogue felt unnatural, and the transitions between scenes were a little choppy. The ending also felt rushed and left me wanting more closure.
Still, there’s potential here. I’m curious to see how the author grows with future books!
Haunted by Obsession is a dark, intoxicating tale that delves into the twisted depths of love, possession, and the blurred lines between obsession and devotion. Maryam A. crafts a haunting narrative that lingers long after the final page, leaving readers both unsettled and utterly captivated.
Story & Themes The book introduces us to two compelling voices: The Serpent, a figure of chilling dominance who views love as ownership, and The Rose, a soul drawn to the very darkness that threatens to consume her. Their dynamic is a volatile dance of push and pull, where desire and destruction intertwine. The Serpent’s declarations are possessive and menacing, while The Rose’s confessions reveal a heartbreaking vulnerability—a willingness to embrace ruin for the sake of connection.
Maryam A. explores themes of toxic love, power imbalances, and the psychological grip of obsession with unflinching honesty. The prose is lyrical yet razor-sharp, painting a vivid picture of a relationship teetering on the edge of self-destruction.
Writing Style The author’s writing is evocative and immersive, dripping with raw emotion. The contrast between The Serpent’s cold, calculated dominance and The Rose’s desperate yearning creates a tension that is both disturbing and magnetic. The fragmented, almost poetic structure of the narrative adds to the sense of unease, making the reader feel as though they’re peering into the minds of two people trapped in a dangerous game.
Emotional Impact This is not a love story in the traditional sense—it’s a descent into obsession, a study of how love can morph into something darker. Readers who enjoy morally complex characters and psychological depth will find themselves enthralled, though the content may be unsettling for some. The emotional rawness of The Rose’s perspective is particularly striking, as she acknowledges her own complicity in her downfall.
Final Thoughts Haunted by Obsession is a gripping, provocative read that challenges conventional notions of love and devotion. Maryam A. has crafted a narrative that is as beautiful as it is brutal, perfect for fans of dark romance and psychological thrillers. If you’re prepared to be consumed by a story that lingers in the shadows of the heart, this book is for you.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Recommended for: Readers who enjoy dark romance, complex character dynamics, and emotionally intense storytelling.
The first thing I want to do is thank the author for the ARC. I was really looking forward to read this one, however it was not a match for my particular taste. I was so convinced I would really enjoy this book but I was mistaken. ⠀ We follow Marcella a business woman that is obsessed with susses and Riven, a business man that is formerly obsessed with success and currently obsessed with Marcella. And basically he does all the dark romance stuff in order to get closer to her. ⠀ The book was a bit heavy at the beginning. Making it hard to arrive to the mid part. And very rush towards the end. Like everything happens so fast and there is nearly no enough time to have a proper development. That affects the characters a lot and makes them feel a bit plain. Another point is that the voices of both narrators, are very similar, and it’s one of those cases in which if the chapter headers did not indicate who was narrating I would have not known. And they are quite one dimensional. ⠀ I think there are few things that are explained. And things are happening just because. There is really no plot. ⠀ However the aspect that bothers me the most is the complete lack of sense in the business world. I work in energy, and I am still confused at how an energy company is competing with a beauty brand. Honestly it is not possible. That is not how markets and sectors work, and in my case it was something that was really pulling me out of the story. ⠀ Overall this was not the read for me, but I am sure it will be for some of you out there.
This debut dark romance has potential, but it fell short for me in a few areas. The pacing felt rushed, with events unfolding too quickly for any real tension or suspense to build. I was hoping for more mystery—something that would keep me on edge and eager to turn the page—but the thrill just wasn’t there.
There were also noticeable disconnects between chapters, which made the story feel a bit disjointed and, at times, confusing. While the overall plot and concept are intriguing, the execution lacked the depth and detail I was hoping for. Scenes could have been more fleshed out to help ground the reader in the story.
Portraying wealthy, successful characters can be tricky, and in this case, the depiction didn’t feel entirely convincing. A bit more research and attention to detail—especially when it comes to lifestyle, behavior, and accessories—would have elevated the realism.
Still, as a debut, it’s a fair effort. If you’re looking for a quick, no-frills dark romance to breeze through, this might be worth a shot.
Haunted by Obsession is a dark romance with a thriller-esk like twist to it.
I feel like the characters needed to evolve more, the story felt rushed and so did their stories. We went from two competing billionaire CEO’s to one of them being psychotically obsessed with the other practically out of no where. This part of the story could have had more of a background to why he became so obsessed with her. I thought the FMC was smart until I didn’t, she made moves out of a cheesy horror movie which I didn’t understand and didn’t seem like something she would do considering the first half of the book made her seem so strong and powerful.
I think being a first novel there is so much room for growth for Maya to really take her writing to the next level over the next few years. She has a promising future in the writing world with captivating plots, the execution just needs more work.

Firstly, thank you so much to the Author for sending me an ARC for your first book! It is an incredible accomplishment, that I as someone who doesnt write cant even comprehend.
I think this book has so much potential it just feels like its missing the substance in the chapters. The concept is there, and the writing is fun but it was just fast with little continuity. I still enjoyed my read and it did have me wanting more! But it felt more like a blue print rather than the completed project.
When the pace was slowed down the descriptiveness of the scenes were great, I just wished I had more of that throughout.
Overall enjoyed my time and if you’re looking for a quick dark romance this could scratch that itch for you.
Firstly, I would like to thank the author for providing the ARC to me, I greatly appreciate it!
Unfortunately I didn’t connect with this book and writing style at all, so I DNF’d it at 30%. The pacing was all over the place and we were jumping between POVs every ten minutes of the plot.
In few of the chapters was a lot of business talk and his obsession came completely out of nowhere, which took me completely of guard.
But lastly I have to say, that this is my honest opinion and I don’t hate on the author at all! Even though this book wasn’t for me, I wanna thank the author and say - Good job! Because I wouldn’t be able to write a book at all..
I was lucky enough to be given and ARC of Haunted by Obsession. First off congratulations on your book!!
This was a pretty quick read, that I wish was longer. The storyline was good and had so much potential, but I feel like the book was rushed in a lot of ways and sometimes I felt like I was missing parts. I feel like some parts were interesting and I would be hooked, but other parts were repetitive and could have used more depth.
I would say that this was definitely a dark romance, there was some spice and he fell hard and fast. The book just kinda ended and I feel like there were a lot of loose ends. All in all if you would like a quick read, you could really enjoy this.
I was given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC.
This book is about two business rivals that are enemies to lovers.
For me, there was good story building in the beginning of the book. It gave you the insight of how they are enemies to begin with. What threw me off was how fast it went from an obsession that was not consensual, to falling in love. I had to go back and reread some portions of it because I felt like I missed something. The overall book felt too short and that it could have been elaborated on much further.
I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to be able to read this ARC and review.
If you love dark, tension-filled romances where obsession feels like poetry, Haunted by Obsession is one to keep on your radar. Mercelline and Riven are rivals, powerful in their own right—and when they finally collide? Sparks fly.
It’s not a fast-paced whirlwind—it’s a velvet-gloved storm. Elegant, brooding, and meant to be savored.
Would I recommend it? Yes—especially if you’re drawn to moody, character-driven romance with a cinematic vibe.
The concept for this book is great especially for a first book, I love a good enemies to lovers book. However, I do feel like in certain points there were holes in the plot, I found myself tapping back to make sure I didn’t pass anything.
The language could have flowed a bit better but aside from these, I enjoyed the to and fro between the characters, the suspense, and the hints to a back story for the FMC!
Book recommended for readers 18 and up check the trigger warnings. If you like dark romance books, you might like this one. Although I do think it was rushed and would have liked the main characters to have more of a connection, the details and spice were great. I did really enjoy reading this book.
For an enemies to lovers book it was a real slow burn and completely one sided. He's obsessed with her and she doesn't know it until it's too late and there's nothing she can do to stop it or get away from him. Nothing. This is definitely a "touch her and die, literally" kind of read. The MMC seemed more like the Mafia type than a successful CEO.
Wow wow wow! The chemistry between the MMC and FMC is sizzling and the tension was so yummy! It was dark addictive and hooked me from the first chapter! It was amazing 🤩
Do nada!!! E ai ele começa a seguir ela e invade a casa dela.

Final Thoughts
Haunted by Obsession is a compelling novel that masterfully explores dark emotions and intense relationships. With some fine-tuning in pacing and character depth, it has the potential to be even more impactful. Fans of psychological thrillers and dark romance will likely find it an engaging and thought-provoking read.
Mercelline is a growing CEO of her company MELF cosmetics. Starting small she built her business up and her goal is to be on the top. But to be on top she needs to beat her competitor. Riven is the CEO of the company Zenith. He’s always been consistent and always on top. He won’t let anybody get in the way of his business. Riven throws a big party where many CEO’s, inventors and entrepreneurs come. Mercelline was one of those that were invited. Riven has always been aware of Mercelline and who she is but seeing her at the party triggered something in him. Something different, something primal that he can’t shake off. He starts obsessing over her and must have her at any cost. He stalks her until he can make her his.
An enemies to lovers between two rivals of big companies. A touch her and die type of book. It is a dark romance. Very obsessive guy who literally does anything and I mean anything to get her. He is unhinged.
I was able to receive an arc from the author in exchange for my honest review. This is the first book by this author so I applaud her for writing a book it’s not easy. I know I can’t write one but she did. That being said I like the idea of the book but I believe it fell short. I didn’t think the prologue was necessary. I didn’t see much development from the characters. I would’ve like to see some background to the characters, like how they came to their business, their sacrifices and why they are the way that they are. It was not as detailed in some chapters. Some of the chapters were short where there could’ve been more stuff added like the background of her friend and more details as to what occurred. It was dark I’ll give her that. Heavy stalking and other dark things happened. But I also would’ve wanted more of that, more story. I like to see the longing, the suspense of Riven’s dark obsession. It was faced paced, I liked the characters so the concept it there it just needed more details for me. Left me wanting more which is a bad and good thing.
Would I recommend? No But I will read another book of hers when she comes out with another one. I’d like to see her writing grow as she continues to write more.
I pride myself on writing honest and trustworthy reviews, which makes this one of the more difficult reviews to write. While Haunted by Obsession didn’t personally resonate with me, I recognize that reading is a deeply subjective experience—what doesn’t work for one reader might be exactly what another loves.
The author’s passion and effort were clear, and there are elements that may appeal to readers who enjoy Dark Romance novels. Unfortunately, I struggled with some of the writing. I found myself disconnected from the story and had a hard time staying engaged.
The storyline had promise, and the overall plot held potential, but I struggled with the pacing. The narrative took quite a while to gain momentum, and by the time the main love interests came together—toward the final chapters—it felt rushed and, to be frank, forced. Their relationship didn’t feel natural or emotionally developed, which made it difficult for me to connect with or root for them.
What troubled me most, however, was the dynamic between Riven and Mercilline. As a reader, I felt deeply uncomfortable with how Riven’s actions toward her were portrayed. Rather than feeling darkly romantic or intense, his behavior felt invasive and, at times, violating. While I understand that Haunted by Obsessions seems to draw inspiration from books like Haunting Adeline, the execution here lacked the nuance and moral complexity that made Zade such a compelling antihero. Zade may be unhinged, but his motives—especially his desire to protect women—offered depth and purpose. With Riven, I didn’t get that same sense of layered character or redeeming intent.
Of course, reading is subjective, and I know many readers may enjoy this type of story. It simply wasn’t the right fit for me.
That said, I know this book has found its audience, and I appreciate the creativity and work that went into bringing it to life. If you’re a reader who enjoys a Dark Romance, this might be a better fit for you than it was for me.
Ultimately, not every book is for every reader—and that’s okay. I’m still grateful for the opportunity to have read it.
📖 ARC Review – Haunted by Obsession I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
📚 Summary Haunted by Obsession is a dark billionaire romance with a twist of corporate rivalry and intense obsession. It follows two powerful CEOs both wildly successful in their own right whose companies are at war and whose chemistry burns just as hot as their competition. With themes of power, possession, and passion, this story dives into what happens when the line between love and obsession completely vanishes.
🖋️ What I Loved The dynamic between the leads? Absolutely electric. There's something undeniably addictive about watching two billionaires fall into a push-and-pull spiral of desire and dominance. The tension is thick, the stakes are high, and the obsession? Oh, it's not just in the title it runs the show. The CEO vs CEO setup added a unique flavor to the romance less damsel-in-distress, more battle of the bosses, and I was so here for it. The spice level hits a solid 3/5 🌶️, bringing the heat without stealing the spotlight from the plot.
📉 What Could’ve Been Better While the story definitely had its moments, the pacing occasionally dipped in places. There were a few scenes that felt slower or repetitive, and I wished for a bit more surprise or twist in the plot to keep me fully hooked. It didn’t quite reach “can’t-put-it-down” levels for me, but the overall vibe still delivered a compelling read.
📚 Final Thoughts If you're into twisted billionaire romances with obsessive love, powerful leads, and high-stakes business tension, Haunted by Obsession should be on your radar. It’s perfect for readers who like morally grey characters and steamy power plays. Rating: 3.5/5 stars
So, listen—this dark romance debut 𝘩𝘢𝘥 me with the concept. The rich, obsessive tension and the twisted undertones? 🥵 And with the 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦 of something gritty and gripping? I was all in… until the story started to unravel faster than it had time to really 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦.
The pacing was way too rushed, leaving no room for true suspense to simmer. And while the bones of the plot were 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘨, the execution felt off. Chapters disconnected awkwardly—like puzzle pieces that 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 fit but don’t quite lock—and at one point we literally had a “first meeting”… 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘤𝘦. That kind of slip pulls you out of the story fast.
The main characters, while compelling in theory, became repetitive in action and dialogue. They 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 again and again without real momentum, and it dulled what could’ve been a sharply addictive dynamic. I wanted to 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 the obsession, the stakes, the 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘭—but it just didn’t hit the mark.
There’s also a level of polish that was missing, especially in depicting the lavish, powerful world the characters inhabit. Small things—lifestyle details, mannerisms, even accessories—felt under-researched or surface-level, which made it hard to fully buy into the fantasy.
𝗕𝗨𝗧—there’s 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 here. The foundation is 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥. The vibe is 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤. There is clearly a vision, and with some development in pacing, character arcs, and continuity, this story could absolutely 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦.
If you’re craving a fast, low-commitment read with a dark twist and don’t mind a little mess along the way, it might still scratch the itch because the 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭? It’s there.
This is a dual POV where we follow Mercelline (Marcelline?) and Riven. The chapters changed pace quickly wich made it easy to follow and also kept the timing to follow their thoughts with eachother short if they were at the same place.
However, I debated DNF'ing the book at 30%, but wanted to give the writer my respect of finishing the book and seeing how it ended. But I still DNF'ED the book at about 80%
I debated at 30%. There were multiple scenes where I got confused what happend. I would have loved to have a bit more background in the relationships that the FMC and the MMC had with other people. It felt that a person was just put in the story but not really knowing what their function was to the story.
Also the businesses that Riven and Mercilline had in the story werent explained so I was still questioning what it is they did. And when that did became clear I didnt see that they were in competition with eachother.
I finally DNF'ED it at 80% because when they did collided it felt creepy, awkward and downright "why doesn’t anybody call 911?!" I understand Dark Romance but did didnt feel like their was any emotional depth or some moral reckoning. It's a very fine line to write this correctly and I think that was not executed well and could be really triggering for people.
Oh! And specific trigger warnings would be a good thing to add in the front of the book so you know if you are comfortabel with reading about these specifics.
Thank you to Maryam A. for giving me a change and trust to read her book. Unfortunately, this was not for me.
I really wanted to like this book. The enemies to lovers setup, the intense emotions, the dark obsession, it all sounded so promising. But as I read, it just didn’t come together for me.
The relationship between Mercelline and Riven felt rushed. One minute they’re strangers and the next he’s completely obsessed with her. There wasn’t any real buildup or development. It just jumped straight into the deep end without giving us a reason to care about their connection. The obsession, power dynamic, and intensity could have worked really well with the right pacing and emotional depth, but here it felt sudden and forced.
The pacing overall was messy. Some parts dragged while others flew by too quickly. It made the story feel disjointed and I found myself struggling to stay engaged. I also didn’t really see where the fantasy aspect came in. Despite the dramatic tone, the setting and story seemed grounded in a modern contemporary world, so the expectations set by the blurb didn’t quite match the actual content.
There is potential in the themes explored like obsession, power, and vulnerability, but the uneven writing style, unnatural dialogue, and lack of depth made it difficult to get truly immersed. As a debut, it shows effort and boldness, but for me, the story’s intensity never translated into real emotional impact.
I genuinely respect the hard work that goes into writing and publishing a book but sadly this one just wasn’t for me.
Well well, I read this book on one sitting. Definitely worth binge reading. I have been in a reading slump and nothing I picked up could hold my interest. It's supposed to be dark romance and I even forgot it was. I mean it has stalking and all but surprisingly less spice than I imagined. And to be honest, I kinda liked it.
Let me tell ya what kept me hooked. Just the fact that fmc was no Cinderella. Don't get me wrong I love Cinderella fmc but lately I have been searching for more and more strong fmc. It may be my bias but I wasn't attracted to the mmc. Don't know if it's a good thing.
The pacing was a bit slow in the starting and I prefer it that way, but everything just blew over my head in the end.
What I liked was the reaction of mmc when he kinda lost to fmc in something he takes pride in. Melf cosmetics! Loved it.
I got a mix opinion on the nickname. Fmc being a Self made millionaire, may not entertain that nickname. However, who am I to judge. It's her choice.
Who can say this is the first book from this good author. I definitely have high hopes and I wait for more books.
This is my first ARC book read and review. The first 1/4 of the book I was very confused about the “industry” and when I find out it didn’t really work for me as anything relevant. Because Rivens company was tech and wanted to be on top, and her company was a beauty brand. The obsession with being on top I get, which lead to his obsessive behavior over her. The POV I liked changing from one to the next. Some parts seemed a bit rushed, like the chapters could have lingered a bit more especially in the spicy scenes. Will there be a next book? Will their obsessions become more? Did she truly fall for her captor or is it a Stockholm situation? Why was that other guy threatening her and speaking of her like she was a black widow who’s looking for her next kill? So many questions!! I still give it a 3 of 5 and did enjoy reading it. The spice was nice but personally I like a bit longer scenes with it lol. Thank you again for letting me be apart of your Journey of writing. Will read more from you

It's my first enemies to lovers, my first book I published, poured my heart into it. I know it's a bit rushy, short chapters, no long suspense or drama. I know it might affect the book ratings too. But I did this intentionally, as you know it's my first so I just wanted to check my storyline, characters, writing skills and plotting by just making short chapters and rushy ending.
I'm so sorry about this readers, but I kindly request you, read this book, tell me how is it, my writing skills and other things, so that I can also improve those things. I'm not asking you not to post bad ratings but tell me also what was good in this book.
P.S My second book is coming and I'm sure it will have interesting chapters, suspense, tension, drama and more romance and also trigger warnings ;) Trope can be expected: FB agent and Serial killer romance
I love you my readers. Your support and love means a lot to me. Thank you so much!!
