Blood & Daffodils: A Pitch Black Paranormal Romance

' “Why do you nickname me all these pet names? It’s really annoying, you know. First, it’s ‘My Eclipse’, then ‘my beloved’, then love, and now it’s Narcissus. What the fuck is with you and name-calling?” I scowl, harsher than intended, but he doesn’t flinch.

His voice is in my head. “Because I couldn’t decide which pet name, I loved the most.” That’s just a low blow. '

...

' I clenched my fists, every word she spoke feeling like a dagger aimed squarely at my chest. She wasn’t wrong. I had held back for far too long, thinking I was protecting her, when maybe all I was doing was keeping her from truly understanding herself. '

"You don’t see it yet, but you’re stronger now. Even the scars—they’re proof that you survived. That you’re still here."

I let out a shaky breath, his words stirring something deep inside me. "And what about you, Nox? You’ve got your own scars, your own battles. Why do you keep pretending you’re invincible?"

His lips curved into a small smile, the kind that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Because you’re the only thing that’s ever made me feel like I could be." '

Esmeray was kidnapped months ago, right after her little sister was found dead. Coincidence, right? But something lurks beneath all this crime, something darker. She's been abused, tortured, and forced into labor, but what happens when the pent-up emotions snap and something paranormal begins to emerge? Was she even human in the first place?

Nox is an Archdemon, forged from the pits of Hell by his beloved, Lilith. Her death wasn't pretty, and he swore to get revenge. But how can he when all that keeps him in order is a circle of ash and a petty human?

What will happen when one breaks out? Will chaos erupt, or will the balance be disturbed?

The Eclipse

The Nightshade

Locked away for centuries after the humans found my sigil

Blood & Daffodils - Angeliena Cifelli

I really enjoyed the premise of the story. I read a lot of mythology based books or retellings, and I have seen one with Jewish mythology or Jewish folklore before. That was very interesting. I enjoyed the chemistry between
Esmeray and Nox. I also really liked the dynamics between Esmeray and Lilith. The story is very engaging and interesting. And I’m very excited to rest the rest of the books in the series.

This book truly kept me turning the pages, eager to see what would happen next. Watching Eameray endure everything she went through to become who she needed to be was both heartbreaking and powerful. Her journey sheds light on the darker realities of the world in a raw and honest way that really stays with you. I genuinely enjoyed pre-reading this story for Angelina Cifellii It was emotional, gripping, and impossible to put down.

The story was very interesting, and I like that the author did not shy away from the dark elements. The deduction in stars is mainly because the pacing felt really inconsistent. There would be parts that I was absolutely hooked and couldn’t stop reading, then parts that felt very repetitive, and then back to being hooked again.
Additionally, there were some parts of the fmc’s dialogue that felt almost juvenile, which pulled me out of the story a few times.

I did absolutely love our mmc. The way he was written was perfect. That made me feel a bit more like maybe the fmc’s voice wasn’t fully figured out.

Overall I did like this book. If it didn’t feel so repetitive and slow at times, and the fmc felt more consistent, I think this could easily be in my top 10 favorites. It’s well worth the read.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

‼️EDITED- this will be re-reviewed- author aware of mistakes in this ARC‼️

This is book 1 of a trilogy. My understanding is this was a revamp to include more spicy scenes and to correct some grammatical errors.

The synopsis and tropes were promising, but the story seemed a bit lacking for me. There was a lot of repetition, parts that seemed out of place, pacing seemed weird and disjointed.

I found myself mostly confused and frustrated with the story. I will not be continuing the series.

This book was my first experience with this author and I can say it absolutely won’t be the last time. It was a perfect amount of dark paranormal romance and Jewish mythology for me. The chemistry between the characters was enticing. The format of the book had me constantly refusing to put the book down so I could figure out what was next. I personally can not wait for the rest of the series they are already on my TBR list

It took me a while to get into, but after that, I was hooked. For some reason, I associated this book with The Book of Azrael (I think that's the name). I do wish we had more detail of certain storylines, but other than that, it's a good story. Phoenix was probably my favorite character! If there is a book 2 in the works, I can't wait to hear about it.

ARC review

I am really excited to read the rest of this series. This is another retelling of Lillith and it is done well, there are some things added, and some taken away but this story has been told so many times, I appreciate the differences.
