Sometimes when I'm in the mood, I like to read aloud. If there had been footage of me reading this book I would forever be holed up in my house because of the humiliation; which is to say, every character in this book is Scottish and I can’t do an accent if my life depended on it.
Set in Regency Scotland, The story is about Giselle who ran away from her family and her betrothed in the middle of a storm, and Alec (the nemesis of her betrothed) who ran away from his mother’s party in the storm. They met, he saved her, and they realized they’ve met before, years ago. Alec never forgot about her, the girl who didn’t care about his facial deformity.
Alec is a scarred hero and he’s insecure about his face, determined that no lady in the world would want to look at his face willingly. He’s a hero who likes to read and talks about love quite freely. He admits he wanted to be loved. Giselle also likes to read (Jane Austen to be exact). She’s also outspoken and not at all vain. She had taken interest in Alec since the day they met, face and all.
For a sweet story, this book is a little bit more sexual than I thought. One scene actually had me laughing out loud!!
I liked the book, It’s sweet and cute, It’s just that half the book is probably already in the synopsis because the writing is just too damn slow. There’d be one line, followed by two paragraphs of what we already know. This book definitely doesn’t follow “Show don’t tell”. Everytime the author repeats a detail, I go
The writing I think is the main problem for me to be honest, you might not have a problem with it so don’t cancel your plans on reading this on my account. I enjoy this book, a quick read to pass the time. If you like a slow-paced book with a simple story (and likes characters who are bookworms, anti-socials, and enjoys sex) then this is for you.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Lord Alec Hay, the Earl of Errol, a General of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, has returned from war scarred both inside and out. He has no desire to spend time in the company of society, but his mother is determined to see him married. Alec only wants to hide away from the world and deal with the pain of being unable to save one of his best friends during battle.
Lady Giselle Hepburn has been forced into an unwanted betrothal by her overeager parents. When her mother won’t listen to her complaints about the man’s darker tendencies, Giselle takes things into her own hands and escapes the man’s castle, riding for a neighboring estate during a violent storm. When her horse is spooked by the thunder, Giselle is thrown and nearly sent over a cliff, only to be saved by a handsome highlander she’s nearly certain she’s met before. With her ankle injured, Giselle accepts the man’s help and finds herself ushered right into a new and potentially much happier future for herself.
I really liked that this book had the vibe of a traditional style, old school highlander romance despite being set during the Regency. Giselle was a bit uptight and naïve. At first, I was frustrated by her judgment of Alec as a beast, but thankfully that soon became more of a term of endearment because I was prepared to hate her for picking on something Alec was so sensitive about and chalking it up to him being vain or arrogant. The parents here were just awful with their meddling ways, though Alec’s mother did redeem herself into a rather charming supporting character. I think that some redemption was also intended for Giselle’s parents, but I never bought it or believed that they actually cared about their daughter. I liked that Giselle had a surprising amount of backbone and was willing to fight for the future she wanted. That included fighting for her man when she decided she wanted Alec, not allowing him to misunderstand her feelings about him and not permitting other catty ladies to come between them. I loved that aspect. All too often miscommunication or outside drama is used to create friction between the MCs, and I was so happy to see that plot device bypassed here in favor of the hero and heroine working together to thwart those who would come between them, bringing some detractors over to their side and acting in uncaring defiance of those who could not be swayed. I will always be a fan of the hero and heroine working together toward a common goal and strengthening their bond because of it, so that really worked for me here.
Scotland 1817 Be still my heart! Eliza Knight has created a tale with everything I love in this genre'! The wounded warrior and the woman who will save him. Adventure, a villian, great dialogue and a building love that melts the heart!
He is doing his best to dodge his mother's machinations as she pushes debutantes in front of him to marry. All he wants is to be left alone... unfortunately he tortures himself about the war and what he feels is his failures.
She was being forced into a marriage of her parents making. A revolting man who she had to get away from. In a desperate escape, she meets him, the man she had met three years ago!
What will happen next? Simply loved this story! Cannot wait for more!
Ruined castle, damaged Scottish hero, lively maiden lady, all makes for a ruefully funny read. Those young women who are propelled into marriage with no information are generally in for a shock, or a surprise.
Alec Hay, the Earl of Errol and former General in the Royal Regiment of Scotland, returned from the Peninsular Wars a changed man, scarred both inside and out by the things he endured. He returned to Scotland and tried to acclimate to his role as earl, but when his mother decides that he needs to marry, he attends her ball, has a brief encounter with a nameless lady in the garden, and then flees to Slains, his highland castle, far away from the trembling debutantes that would marry him for his title and money, but are horrified by his scarred visage. For three years he manages to keep his mother at bay, but when she shows up uninvited at his castle with a gaggle of debutantes in tow, Alec once again flees.
Lady Giselle Hepburn, daughter of the Earl of Bothwell, was the lady Alec met in the garden and while she was not turned off by his appearance, it was her first season and she had no desire to wed at that time, so she cut their meeting short, dubs him the Beast of Errol and then really doesn’t give him another thought. But now, her parents have decided to betroth her to a vile man, Sir Joshua Keith, despite her refusal to marry him. As they travel to his highland estate, they pass Slains and Giselle realizes that it has been years since she thought of Alec. They arrive at Sir Joshua’s home, and as she settles into her room Joshua enters and forces a kiss on her. She is appalled and when her mother refuses to object to his behavior, Giselle runs away. She plans to make her way to Slains and beg Alec for help. She sets out on horseback amid a storm and is thrown from the horse and would have gone over a cliff if not for the timely rescue by Alec.
Alec brings her back to his castle, to tend her sprained ankle and to protect her from Sir Joshua, who happens to be the very man that scarred Alec’s face and caused not only the capture of his friend Lorne but the death of another. Alec has long wanted to settle things with Sir Joshua, and Giselle provides the perfect opportunity. They agree to a marriage of convenience, he tells her it will save him from his mother’s attempts at matchmaking and will save her from having to marry Sir Joshua. While Alec doesn’t believe that Giselle could actually find him attractive, they have much in common and he sets out to woo her, winning her affection one book at a time.
Giselle likes Alec very much and soon begins to fall for him. She confides in her friend Jaime, who is staying at the castle with her husband, Lorne, the Duke of Sutherland, and is grateful for her help with Alec’s mother and some of the other guests. All seems like it is going well until her parents and Sir Joshua show up, and demand that Giselle honor the betrothal to Sir Joshua, which allows Alec the opportunity he has longed for to confront Sir Joshua. But the price of that confrontation could cost him everything, including the woman he has come to love.
This was a well-written, fast-paced story that has a beauty and beast feel, without actually using that trope. This book was not as lighthearted as the previous installment but did have some witty banter and steamyish love scenes that kept it from being too dark. The book had cameos from previous characters, a rather graphic/gory “fight” scene, a matchmaking mother, a bit of angst, misunderstandings, a villain who gets his due, and finally a HEA complete with an epilogue. This is the second book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone title. I enjoyed this installment and would happily recommend it.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that I requested and was provided to me by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.*
A tough, war broken Scott, an Earl and a man with an enemy. A woman destined for an arranged marriage to that enemy. This book has so much passion and some beautiful sensual moments, the chemistry fairly blows you away with these two, right from their first meeting.
I had so much fun reading this book, I loved the descriptions of the castle’s and the ruins. Also I adored the Earls mother and of course the Duchess who is married to Lorn from the first book.
Great read that I would recommend to all lovers of Highland Romance.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
This is a light romance that nevertheless includes an exploration of the moral questions raised by the practice of dueling. Perfect for a rainy day, it progresses through the travails of a couple whose parents oppose their union until love conquers all. No big surprises, but the deft character development is better than usual for this genre.
The honor is mine here, folks. To read and review another great book in this fabulous new series by Eliza Knight. What starts off with a Beauty & The Beast theme soon transforms into a more traditional, sit back and watch love blossom, historical Scottish romance featuring an alpha protective, good guy, handsome despite his war scars hero who falls head over heels for a sassy, will save herself if need be, damsel in distress, lovely lass. Lucky for Giselle, Alec always steps in when needed.
Alec played his role to perfection. Seemingly surly and stand-offish at first but a heart of gold waiting and needing to be loved and understood beat in that manly Scottish chest. His simple but grand gestures of concern and romance certainly won me over.
I loved how Giselle wasn't stupid enough to sit back and let her supposed loved ones throw her to the wolves. Even if it meant "getting gone" without a real plan, she'd rather take her chances with the unknown that walk right into an inevitable demise situation.
With some graphic steam kicking in after these two destined to meet again and fall in love lovebirds get to know one another on an emotional level, the heat definitely does get turned up. However, it certainly does not hijack the romantic storyline. I was, however, quite embarrassed for a brief second on Giselle's behalf for being scripted overly ignorant on male anatomy during their first verra intimate encounter. IMO, she was sassier and smarter than that, folks.
As usual, this author's writing flowed seamlessly and kept me fully engaged. Here's to hoping you will enjoy The Scot is Hers as much as I did.
Romance Safety Gang:
Title: The Scot is Hers, Series: Scots of Honor, Author: Eliza Knight, Pages: 250, pub date: 7/27/21, stand-alone but part of a series, briefly met three years ago, good guy hero, sassy, damsel in distress heroine, some graphic smex scenes later on, romance safe, IMHO.
Book 1 - Return of the Scot Book 2 - The Scot is Hers Book 3 - Taming the Scot
(I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not compensated or rewarded in any form for this review.)
This is one of those stories that leaves you feeling completely satisfied, I loved every word!!
Alec Hay, Earl of Errol, General in the Royal Regiment of Scotland, didn’t know when he met Lady Giselle Hepburn whilst they were both escaping from plotting mother’s, that she would be the one to complete him. After a brief encounter they parted ways and three years later fate brought them together again. Now they have to battle against some interfering forces to cement their future and both of them are determined to get their HEA storybook ending.
Author Eliza Knight has woven together the perfect amount of angst, chemistry, romance, and remarkable characters to create this perfect story. The interconnected characters between books allows for the Duke & Duchess of Sutherland from Return of the Scot to have cameo roles in this story, along with characters that I hope we will see in Taming the Scot.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I cannot wait for the next story of the series!!
Giselle Hepburn and Alec Hay, Earl of Erroll, General in the Royal Regiment of Scotland first meet in Edinburgh. It was at a ball the Dowager Countess of Errol was holding to find a wife for her battle injured son after he came home from the Peninsular War. Except that her son Alec Hay, Earl of Erroll had been horribly scarred on the left side of his face from the corner of his eye to his chin. He knew all the vain debutants were horrified by his facial wounds, yet their mothers only saw his title, property and wealth. It was absolutely disgusting so he went to the gardens to get some relief. Except he didn’t realize there was also someone also hiding in his garden and demanded they to show themselves to him! Alec was shocked it was a lass who would not give her name!
Giselle Hepburn did not understand why those brainless, empty headed, debutants, thought Alec Hay, Earl of Erroll, was a monster when he was so very handsome and brave. She felt those wounds were more like badges of courage and honor, and it shows the awful conditions and abuse this incredibly brave soldier had to deal with. He was shocked it was a lass but didn’t realize it was her first season and if caught together it would be considered scandalous and they would be forced to marry! He allowed himself and Giselle go their separate ways even though she was the only young Lass close to his age that didn’t seen horrified by his physical looks!
Three Years later- 1817, Aberdeenshire
Now Giselle is being forced to marry by her parents demands, the Earl and Countess of Bothwell. As she was being forced to marry Sir Joshua Keith, a mean, hateful, and horrible man, who was handsome on the outside but on the inside he was a monster and only cared about himself! It was obvious he only wanted Giselle’s dowry and her parents felt he would lift them in better society circles. So Giselle was actually being sold to the highest bidder which she found disgusting. Now she was at his home in Aberdeenshire at Boddam Castle. Keith had already attempted to ravish her with no success so she had to get out! So she climbed on a horse and escaped that was almost the death of her, as the weather turned sour and she almost had a tragic accident but was saved by Alec Hay, the Earl of Errol.
Alec too also needed an escape, as his mother just showed up unannounced but with her old agenda finding him a wife! Except he brought both his best male friends, their wives and and single, titled women needing a husband. Now he discovers Giselle’s name and she was to marry the black guard who biggest enemy most of his life but also in battle, Sir Joshua Keith! So they come up with the idea to secret have a marriage of convenience, except that feelings and attraction get in the way. On top of that they know if her parents and Keith who needs her dowry find out about their agenda someone is going to pay!
Will Giselle be forced to marry Joshua Keith with his empty coffers? Can a woman possibly fall in love with a man with scarred face and honorable heart? A man she barely notices his physical imperfections as she see’s him as the best man she has ever known. On top of that, 'there is a viper who wants Alec for all the wrong reasons like wealth, land and title. Will this couple find their happily every after or will they be forced to marry people they will always detest. Read and find out!
This is the second book and that this is loosely based on a real person from history as William Hay was the 1st Earl of Erroll in 1423 and lived in Old Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire. I love when true history is weaved with a fictional romance. This was absolutely brilliant and I loved the connection between Alec and Giselle, Giselle had a big heart and a lot of empathy for Alec. Saw his scars more as medals of honor and added to his attractions as a brave and honorable soldier. In addition, being best friends with Lorne and Jamie was a big win for me too. That was the hero and heroine for the first book in this series, Return of the Scot. Another book I also highly recommend. As both books are fabulous but you can read either book as a stand alone book too. A book you definitely don’t want to miss. Eliza Knight is a phenomenal author I have been reading for of over eleven years! She also was my first digital book I ever read in her fabulous in her Stolen Book Series another I also recommend!
Scots of Honor by Eliza Knight Book One: Return of the Scot Book Two: The Scot is Hers Book Three: Taming the Scot
Also by this author another series I absolutely loved and recommend especially if your a Scotland lover like me!
Prince Charlie’s Angels by Eliza Knight Book One: The Rebels Wears Plaid Book Two: Truly Madly Plaid Book Three: You’ve Got Plaid
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy from the author. I voluntarily agreed to do a fair review and blog. All thoughts, ideas and words are my own.
“he’d already decided he was never getting married. Never. Even if he had to live out the rest of his life in seclusion, showing his face only when it was necessary in the House of Lords—then so be it.”
“But she supposed he did have a lot in common with that tortured prince. A curse forever altering his features, meddlers demanding he fall in love if he were to find true happiness ever. It was all so very romantic. Giselle sighed.”
“There was no way on earth she was going to be tied down to the first man she happened to be alone with. Not that she would have minded so very much being attached to the beastly Alec Hay”
“One wrong move, and she was going to fall off the edge of this cliff to her death. She patted around, hoping to grasp a bolder buried in the ground, or a thick root, even a clump of grass with which to hold onto and pull herself up. Instant regret for escaping burned through Giselle because she was certain she was going to die. This had not been her intention in attempting to thwart an unwanted marriage. She very much wanted to live”
“If he were ever to wed, it would be to a woman who saw beneath the surface. A woman who shared his passions. A woman who liked reading and adventure. A woman who was strong in body and mind. A woman who could appreciate him for who he really was. One who looked at him and didn’t see his scars, his failures, but something else”
“There was no such woman. He doubted she existed, and he was certainly not lucky enough to ever meet her. Besides, he was so resolute on never marrying that even if she did fall into his lap, he still had qualms about his ability to commit.”
“The more she thought about it, the more imperative it became to run away. Maybe if her parents realized how serious she was about not wanting to marry Sir Joshua, they would stop all this nonsense.”
“Her words returned to him, how she hadn’t thought of him since that night. How very opposite their reactions had been, for he’d not stopped thinking about her since then. It had been so refreshing to spar with a woman who couldn’t care less about the scar on his face. He’d attempted to find out who she was but never was successful. He’d half convinced himself that she’d not been real.”
“She tapped her chin. “I think in this scenario, I am Beauty and ye are the Beast.”
“She was achingly beautiful, but beneath the pleasant surface lurked an acerbic bookworm he wanted to get to know”
“This man, who’d irritated a few years ago and irritated her again this afternoon, was somehow affecting her in all sorts of mad ways.”
“Alec let out a long-exaggerated sigh. “For the love of God, woman. I am proposing that ye and I make a match.”
“Ye need out of your engagement, and I need into one. I am proposing a business deal”
“But from the moment he’d hefted her out of the mud by the cliff, there hadn’t been a moment he’d not been thinking of her. The lass had captivated him. Truly, at that moment, there was nowhere else he’d rather be”
“So she sucked in a breath and blurted out, “The dowager countess has asked me to leave. To break off the engagement. And I suspect by morning, my parents and possibly Joshua Keith will have arrived.” He frowned, and she glanced toward her feet. “I should no’ have accepted your proposal. I’ve put ye in a grave position, and I do apologize for allowing my selfishness to dictate your future.”
“While Giselle had agreed to marry Alec as a way of getting out from under Joshua Keith’s hammer, she’d also developed feelings for the Beast of Errol. Emotions swirled in and out of his presence that were confusing and wonderful all at once.”
“She sucked in a shaky breath. “I knew ye would no’ understand, but Alec.” Her voice caught, cutting her off. “I…” “Ye actually want to marry me,” Alec said, the shock of the realization enough to jolt him into standing straight. Giselle nodded, her gaze toward the ground. “Aye.”
“I love ye, Giselle. With all my heart.” He thought admitting the truth to her would be terrifying. But it wasn’t. If anything, it made him feel lighter, happier. “I love ye, too, my Beast of Errol.”
Eliza Knight’s “The Scot is Hers” book 2 of the Scots of Honor Series is a lovely addition to the series!
General Alec Hay, the Earl of Errol has returned from war wanting nothing but to be left alone. His meddling mother is determined to see him married and decides to throw a house party at her Edinburgh estate. His once handsome face now bears a huge scar that makes the prospects cringe in horror, so Alec, with no desire to participate in his mother’s annoying efforts rides his horse out onto their property and becomes stuck in some ruins during a torrential downpour.
Lady Giselle Hepburn, in an attempt to escape her family and a forced marriage to an evil man rides out into the storm. Falling off her horse and nearly tumbling over a cliff she is saved by a handsome, mysterious Highlander. Giselle agrees to wait out the storm with the stranger having twisted her ankle, and the weather too dangerous for riding. Throughout the night these two souls get to know one another and confess what drove them out into the storm. Alec convinces her to come back to his home to convalesce and there he proposes a solution to her to solve both their problems.
Alec is a man haunted by the devastation of war with scars both visible and hidden. He’s a brave, noble gentleman, a kind and good man in spite of the fact that he’s brooding, distrustful and scarred. Giselle Is a young woman with spirit, courage, compassion and a delightful sarcastic sense of humor. She brings light into his life and sees him as he truly is. She sees the man not his scar.
I loved this book, it’s characters were just wonderfully written, and well developed. I love the author’s sense of romance and her innate ability to bring her characters to life. She pens well-rounded, believable, and very alive characters in this story. Her rich, visual and sensory prose crafts with immense skill a story that both captivates you while holding you spellbound. The witty banter, the love language and the author’s descriptions are just fabulous! This is a story filled with emotion, angst, passions and sensuality, beautifully written and wonderfully told.
Thank you so much Ms. Knight for this excellent story. I look forward to reading the next book story in this lovely series.
The Scot is Hers Scots of Honor Eliza Knight ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
When Lord Alec Heay, Earl of Errol and general of the Royal Regement of Scotland returns from war, his mother is determined to see him wed even though he wants no part of it. All he wants to do is escape to the darkest room in his castle and relive the harrowing moments in battle where he was unable to save his best friend. These memories haunt him day and night.
Lady Giselle Helpburn, is not your typical lady. She is an impulsive lass, who rides out in the middle of a storm by herself, attempting to escape not only her family, but the horrible man that her family is forcing her to marry. She ends up falling off of her horse and nearly falls off of a cliff, only to be saved by a handsome, mysterious Highlander. With her ruined ankle and the storm way too crazy to attempt ridding more, Giselle decided to ride to a place where there is some cover from the weather with the stranger, hoping for the best. After a while Giselle remembers who this stranger is and reminds him of the time they met when she would not give out her name. They talk for long hours and tell each other their stories and decide that the best course of action would be to pretend that they are engaged so that Lord Alex's Mother will leave then alone and so that Giselle's family will leve her alone to marry Alex. What happens next is nothing short of a miracle and has al.ost every men heart fluttering in envy that Sir Alex will have this beauty all for himself.
Can these two find love on the midst of chaos or will things tear them apart further?
Eliza Knight pens a story that will keep you utterly enthralled. I was a goner after the first few chapters. These two chapters go well in explaining then story so that you can read it again and again. Ms Knight you truly wrote and incredible book that I totally enjoyed ❤
I’m so throughly enjoying Eliza knight’s writing. She doesn’t let little misunderstandings guide the plot. At least not the ones who should not have been misunderstandings
SPOILERS AHEAD !!! for instance when the grooms mother says she doesn’t want the Gisele to marry Alec, she lets him know about his mother wishes and asks him if his mother not approving will be a problem because she doesn’t want to get between him and his family (as any decent person should). Instead of letting this boil and be a problem later, the heroine lets the hero know so that he may be prepared in case anything happens.
But then when misunderstandings do happen they tend to be so human in their deliverance and solution. For example, Alec overhears something Gisele says and storms out but instead of letting him go like most heroines do (seriously, in some novels is like they can’t run or yell or what not) she lets him know that he is being stupid and to hear her out (a round of applause please).
Also, when they meet again I like that Alec doesn’t recognize Gisele under all the mud. Seriously it was dark and there was no way he could had know unless she told him! There was recognition in the voice and manner but no magical zing.
Bonus points for the heroes not being serial players. Like, every time I read a historical romance where the guys just screw everything that moves, I keep wondering the amount of child support they would have to pay if genetics were a thing back then.
Most of them know that their pursuits have the power to ruin the ladies lives. Which gives me an ick they would go so far for a bit of fun. I like men who respect women in general, not only the main character. I like when they put rude women- especially women who insult their beloveds in their place too.
Eliza Knight delivers with both things and so much more.

Lord Alec Hay, Earl of Errol has returned from the Peninsula war to a world where he is expected to wed, to carry on his title. His mother is determined to find him a wife. The only problem is the scar that runs along his face causes the women to run in fear, except one. The lass that challenged him in the garden of yet another ball his mothers has held in his honor. Surely, it was his imagination. She must be just like the others.. He knows all they are able to see is his title and money. Alec can't stomach the reactions of the women paraded in front of him and retires to his country estate to live in peace. Lady Giselle Hepburn has been conditioned her entire life to land a man with a title and her parents will stop at nothing to see it happen, to further their standing in society. No matter what she wants. When they agree to an agreement to marry her to Joshua Keith, Giselle is horrified and only sees a life of misery if she is forced to marry him. In a desperate move, she runs. Fate steps in and once again, she is face to face with the same man that she once met in a garden, only this time, he is her only hope to escape a miserable existence as the wife of a man she loathes. When these two come together, sparks fly. He is brooding and untrusting. She is sarcastic and a ray of sunshine to him. Both need an out and agree to help each other. The agreement was supposed to be for convenience but as they are able to admit, the heart wants what the heart wants. Fantastic read. Great characters, cute humor and happy ever after. What more could there be?
Actually I didn't like it as much as I liked the 1st book. Unless you want to know Alec's story & want to the see some glimpse of Jaime-Lorne..Go ahead.. It was not all that bad & won't say a total time waste neither because it was none ..Just that to me after reading the 1st couple's story, i found it lacking in many ways..
I will start with Alec's mom..She suddenly turned from the selfish, conceited not carring about her son's feelings like the typical mothers of the ton loving-mother character..The whole build up of her character was a mess as it didn't express at all which I really hated..
Next thing that I didn't get was the part after the supposed 1st dueling..I felt that both them had many things to say..Especially why Alec was angry with her & why Giselle was trying so much to stop the dueling..Rather than the steamy moment in the library I hoped there would be serious confessionos & confrontations but it never happened ..Actually it never happened thorough out the ending.. Though they had confess to each other, it only remain to "I love you s" only..
For me there are major gaps in their relation..Sometimes it just felt only physical.. Yeah I like steamy passionate romance but only when it has some deep emotions involved & the moment in the library before the dueling didn't had this..There to many unspoken words between in a bad way..This makes the story more platonic.
Besides I didn't get how Giselle was sleeping soundly in the night before the duel..like it was complete the opposite thing she had done from what she was doing before that..Where was that the fear or unsettling feeling..Totally contradicting.

All I can say is that I couldn’t put this book down! I loved the first in the series, but I loved loved his one! This is a stand alone book, but read both! Alec is so swoon worthy, what a man! And Giselle is fiery and just what Alec needs! Definitely don’t miss this one ♥️♥️
Book: The Scot is Hers (Eliza Knight) Rating: 5⭐️ Format: Audio (Antony Ferguson 5⭐️) Genre: Historical/Scottish romance Smut: 🔥
Summary: When General Alec Hay, the Earl of Errol, returns from war, his mother is determined to see him wed when all he wants to do is to escape the harrowing moments of battle into the darkest room of his castle. In his neighbouring estate, impulsive Lady Giselle Hepburn rides out in the storm to escape a forced marriage to a vicious man, but falls off her horse and is saved by the Earl. With a twisted ankle, and the weather too dangerous to attempt riding, the fates of the two are entwined as Giselle agrees to wait out the storm with him - both literally and figuratively.
Favourite character: Giselle.
To whom: To fans of Scottish history, adventure and bold heroines!
Additional notes: Yes, I'm in love - again!! It’s been an absolute pleasure to follow Knight’s writing and how the stories just get better and better! We slipped into the miscommunication trope but it was solved before it got frustrating. We had the evil-family-member trope which that too was tackled brilliantly before things got desperate. This was a brilliantly written Beauty and the Beast retelling located in the historical Scotland and I was all for it! Would recommend!
Earl of Errol, Lord Alec Hay and General of the Royal Regiment of Scotland has returned from the war to a mother pushing to see him wed. He has battle scars to his face where he quickly became a damaged and beastly general. He’s returned from the war all he wants is the peace and quiet, to live in the darkness and forget the harrowing moments of battle. Lady Giselle Hepburn she rides out the storm, falls off her horse in the moors and falls over a cliff, when she’s rescued by a mysterious stranger. She’s running away to escape a marriage to a vile she finds quite revolting, a man she doesn’t want marry. Alec remember seeing the young woman he’s rescued at his mother’s ball three years ago. Where they had brief encounter in the garden and in his memory she’s been the nameless lady in the garden. A captivating story where Giselle is not afraid of Alec, his face doesn’t disturb her, scars do not bother her, but she is souls as a wounded animal, the Beast of Errol. A wonderful story of beauty and the beast come to life. Alec is captivated by Giselle, a woman who’s not afraid to look him in the eye, who doesn’t turn away in horror at his face. This fascinating tale as their attraction, and passion grows and love blooms. I voluntarily read and reviewed this extraordinary story.
Giselle meets Alec at a party in the dark garden. She is trying to escape the frivolity of narrow minded people and so is he. Since Alec has a scar on his face from the war, he is looked on in a reviling way. Giselle doesn't look at him that way.
I love her sense of humor and sarcasm. Giselle makes an impression on Alec and vice versa, however, they don't see each other for a couple years.
Actually, we meet Giselle in the previous book in this series. That was a great book also. But they both can be read as a stand alone.
Giselle's parents betrothe her to a terrible man. She tries talking to them but they won't listen. So, she runs away...at night...in a rain storm....and almost loses her life. Here is where Alec comes in to save her life. And it goes from there...interfering parents, friends, duels.....great story.
Lord Alec Hay ,Earl of Errol returned from the war badly scared. He is doing his best to ignore the looks he gets but his mother is insisting he find a bride.
All he wants to to hide away on his Highland estate.
After a few years managing to avoid all the men her mother has thrown in her path, Lady Giselle Hepburn is being pressured into marriage with a man she can't stand. She needs to get away.
Our heroine will have to gather all her courage to get her wish of peace and quiet.
This historical romance is a lot of fun. Our characters are really just trying to live a simple life, but society keeps interfering.
This is the second book in the series, but each book can easily be read on it's own. They will tempt you to read rest.
Alec and Giselle are a match made in Heaven. Both no-nonsense type of persons, they love nothing more than lose themselves into a good book. Both are thrown into the irritating marriage mart by their stubborn mothers, who don’t listen at all to their child. I really liked this book: the exchanges between Alec and Giselle are filled with wit, their bantering absolutely hilarious sometimes. Giselle is quite the character! She sees well beyond the surface and does not waist time with things superficial, which was all that mattered in that time and place. I have enjoyed her immensely. Eliza did it again: a beautiful story filled with adventure, surprises, laughter and just enough tears. Loved it!
I found thia book boring.. The heroine didnt love the hero, it was pure and simple lust she felt for him. She tried to be very humourous and lively, but i didn't feel that about her, she failed there too for me. The hero fell for her probably because she didnt find him revolting and got scared away. Didnt really find any chemistry between the two. Few things didnt make much either.. if they both were found in scandalous situation, it would never benefit the enemy for they had already declared an engagement. And the enemy just walked off after one small defeat. The heroine's parents characters' were also not justified. So all in all it failed for me.
Alec and Giselle. Alec returned from the war scarred on one side of his face. His mother is determined he will wed and keeps surprising him parties full of women he has no interest in. Giselle’s mother also insists she weds and has arranged a betrothal between her and a man she despises, who happens to be Alec’s enemy. When Giselle escapes the betrothal and ends up in a storm and thrown from her horse, she is rescued by Alec. They plot to wed each other so she can escape a wedding she doesn’t want and he can marry on his own so his mother will stop her meddling. A lot happens in this sweet romance so I won’t spoil it. Definitely worth reading.
I quite enjoyed both main characters and their story. The setting was beautiful and descriptive without being overdone. My only dislike was it seemed a bit rushed as it was under 300 pages and so parts of the story were either eliminated or flashed through. I think the story of her betrothal and the feud could’ve been elaborated in with more vendetta to try to get her back than a duel and I would’ve like to see the wedding and maybe at least one more love scene. They really had great chemistry and banter. A fun quick read.
This was an okay-ish story. Nothing gripping whatsoever. Mild chemistry is there (sorry, I'm blabbering, you may go thinking 'What the heck is mild chemistry?'). I mean, they're sweet with each other, no overwhelming desire or attraction that makes your fingers tingle when you read them. Ever felt your fingers tingle when you read a book? No major hurdles as well. This was a pleasant enough book to pass through time over a nice cup of coffee. MCs are nice and they complement each other.
Be still my heart, my favourite type of regency romance. A damaged scarred hero with a heart of gold, and a heroine who is feisty and sees past it all to the man behind the scars. Passionate, sexy and romantic, this story had me hooked from the very first pages. The beast of Errol and Giselle are swoon worthy and yearn for each other, all they have to do is believe in each other and let love lead the way.
Strong and beautiful Giselle meets war worn Alec and the sparks fly. Scarred and reclusive Alec wants nothing to do with society and finding a bride but his mother pushes the debutantes at him. I loved the interaction between Alec and Giselle. Fun read. Strong characters.
