A clear, detailed exposition on the topic of baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is for all Christians who wish to have help in understanding what the Scriptures teach on this major doctrinal and pastoral topic. David Pawson is well known to countless Christians worldwide as an outstanding Bible teacher.
I started this book in hopes that it will deepen the theme of the baptism and Holy Spirit as this weekend I am making the step to be baptized in water but unfortunately after reading this book I am more confused then ever. The book has also good points that I learned from this author like the 4 steps in becoming holy and the fact that Jesus actually said to pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit but there were some things that left me baffled like the all arguments of a few religions, which I did not cared or the fact that he mentioned some things that it was merely his perception and not what the Bible say.
Per all the main conclusion is that we, humans, love to complicate simple things just for the purpose of showing we are right and that is a form of pride; unfortunately this is the truth about human kind. We should just listen to God and stop mixing His teachings with our flawed "wisdom".
As far as I'm concerned, David Pawson is the greatest pure Bible teacher I ever heard.
I came to read his books because I heard his talks. This man is special because he applies The Scriptures to his life, not the other way around.
Church practices were diluted over the ages. Our responsibility is to submit ourselves to The Biblie if we believe it to be true. Truth is hard to accept, it takes repentance and humbleness to do it.
Just as I concluded about other great preachers, they aren't as great in writing as they are in speaking...but that's not a knock against David, as he is a great speaker.
Thank The Lord for men like this! The truth in this book could change your life.
Romans 8:8-11 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness. Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.
