Dick Wybrow is a Canadian author. His novels are mainly set in the US, where he grew up. A former stand-up comedian, Wybrow is a humor writer who crafts thrillers that incorporate elements of suspense, horror, mystery, science fiction and fantasy.
At the age of six, Dick was given his first book by his father. It was Wind in the Willows. Naturally, that put Dick off reading for several years.
After discovering Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, the love of reading returned. And with it came the compulsion to get lost worlds like Douglas had created.
Dick lives in Auckland, New Zealand with one wife and two cats.
I am so disappointed in this book. Halfway through and I was loving it, I got to the end really quickly and now feel bereft - again! Disappointed because it didn't go on and on and on and on and... you get the picture?
There are some sublime moments and phrasing that I will be using from now on.
I absolutely loved the twist with Stanley. That was so left-field!! I love meeting the new characters and I think the author has struck the right balance with their stories.
Reading this was like wrapping myself back in the world of weres of all kinds and it felt like home. I read in two sittings only because I needed some sleep. I would have read straight through, if I was awake awake. It is that good.
What a fantastic addition to this series, we’ve been waiting for it to come out and it definitely did NOT disappoint!!! Kane and Emelda are on the move again and trying to protect each other as well and destroying those that would do themselves and others harm , cannot wait for the next book to come out , I’ll be watching for it for sure!!!
Kane Reloaded by Dick Wybrow Wolfwere Series Book Six Emelda Thorne has been slowly working, yes, since she gave all Kane’s money away after leaving him in the forest, finally in his wolf state again. So, she’d been working her way to California to make things right with her mother, finally. She missed Kane, but now he had what he wanted, his wolf pack family. She’d made it to her mom’s, and things were going well, until a phone call. She had to get to Kane before it was too late. Kane was back with his pack, but the human in him was still there. If he used his human voice, his pack was uncomfortable, so he tried not to. His memories as a human stopped him from being the wolf he needed to be. His mind was always wandering. And then the unthinkable happened. He failed his pack and gave up on life. I’ll miss this series after I’m done. I’ve been binge-reading it, and it’s so unique. Kane really claws his way into the heart of this reader, even as a wolf. Humorous, and yet sad at times. Fast-paced and full of surprises. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Man, was i bummed when Kane was over a while back. I loved these books and the dynamic of Kane and Emelda. Like all good things, they had to end, but it was a glorious ending. Then, a few months later, we hear that they're coming back! Squeee!!!! And what a new start. Emelda is with her mom, which is a HUGE deal if you've read the other books. And Kane is living his best life as a wolf in Canada. However, someone is hunting Kane and determined to end him, and Emelda is roped I to searching for some missing girls. It's a must read if you loved the first books.
I truly can’t say enough good things about this series.
When I finished the fifth book, I wept with joy and sadness. Then I read that there would be another book! I was thrilled to pre-order #6, and it showed up in my Kindle earlier than expected. I told my dog last night “Nobody is eating or sleeping until this is finished”. Now it’s finished. I was praying as I read the last page that there will be more. And there are! I am thrilled with this charming, hysterically funny, action-packed series. Thank you Dick Wybrow for sharing your incredible gift with all of us. I cannot wait to read the next one.
At my age, I've become less interested in sci-fi fantasy/vampire/werewolf stories BUT This series of books really grabbed my attention! I couldn't put it down. I became emotionally invested and thoroughly enjoyed Kane's wolf thought processes as well the evolution/development of both main characters. I actually laughed when the "big Alpha wolf" gets transformed instead into a tiny little dog - his mental observations are humorous. Besides, it isn't often I get to enjoy a good pun and these characters indulge in that too. Looking forward to the next book. Don't know if I can wait for it to be a kindle unlimited selection to read it.
Kane and Emelda Thorne are back. Emelda has moved in with her mom and they are slowly trying to make right the muddled past between them. Out of the blue Emelda receives a call that a wolf wearing a locket with her hair in it has been found trapped in a deliberately set cave fire that killed the rest of his pack leaving him severely injured. Racing across the country to rescue Kane and returning back to California they become deeply involved in a crytid situation that causes more questions than answers.
I thought I had said goodbye to Kane and Emelda. So happy that the story continues, and just as chaotically as before. Kane's return to his pack does not go well. It's heartbreaking. Some unknown adversary dogs (sorry Kane) our hero as he is rescued from an ignominious end and reunites with Emelda. Then, of course, there are monsters, and fights, and injuries, and well, Kane and Emelda shenanigans.
I loved the Kane series and while sad it had ended, I was glad Kane was home, BUT.... It seems Kane and his fans weren't finished. This new title (one of 3, can't wait) has a shocking begining, the usual rip roaring middle, and more shocking end, with a very open ending promising more of the thills, humor, and awkward love affair fans love.
These are all very good stories. They read fast and smooth. Lots of action and goofy humor (which I really enjoy). Got the tears going a time or two. I look forward to reading the next 2 books in the Kane series. Until then, I guess I need to start Mr Wybrow's other series because this author is definitely top of my list.
I am so happy to see more of the Wolfweseries. I love Kane and Emelda and all the trouble they get into and I also enjoy all the characters they meet during their adventures. The stories are full of adventure, mystery, and plenty of humor and I am really looking forward to more in the series.
I really really love this series and am very glad I waited to read book 6 just when book 7 got out. I loved every page in this story and really adore Emelda and Kane. Especially Kane. Can this series please made into a movie series!? That would be soooo awesome! Henry Cavill as Kane I think…. Hmmmmmm
Oh goodness, in this novel, Kane and Emelda are reunited in a scary hunt for some missing women. There is real sorrow involved in Kane's return to his pack, and his joy at being Emelda's best friend again eases his pain. There are some unexpected twists and some heartfelt feelings that brought a big sigh to this reader.
What a funny creative spin on this type of subject. It makes the characters extremely likable with the unusual relationship . Thanks for continuing with the series.
Let the chaos continue! I only have one other that I adore as much as I adore your books, Dick! I absolutely CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF KANE! One of the BEST BOOKS I HAVE READ IN FOREVER! I CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE! Now- where are the Kane hoodies? 😂
Enjoyed the first five and blew thru them in a rush. Imagine my surprise when #6 appeared. These characters make perfect sense to me as good friends, and.... Their evolution together seems unforced and definitely fun to read about.
New Beginning! Hilarious, fun, sad all at the same time
Enjoyed the adventure and the humor. Glad to see the besties together again. Except for few errors in word choice and syntax/spelling errors that didn't take me out of the story excellent.
I thought Kane's story was over, and I was sad. Then I was thrilled to learn there was a new book and more adventure ahead. Now I'm left hanging, waiting for this saga to continue. Please hurry!!
The humor was still there! I like the addition of the mother and I think the new enemy or is an old enemy will be quite interesting! I really had hated the way the series ended. Glad to see it wasn’t the end!
Since the first five books were supposed to be the only books in the series, this sixth book is a welcome surprise. I understand why Dick Wybrow continued the series. I am glad he did. This book is filled with humor and action. It's a great read.
WOW!!!!! Just WOW. Excellent comeback. I am so looking forward to the next book!! And why does it have to be 3 new books?? There is so much potential for Emelda and Kane!! Love the twist at the end!! Happy Reading :)
When I started this book, I was doing so just to.kill a little time. Surprised by the originally of the author. I really couldn't put in down. I love it so much, I can't wait for the next book.
It was great to have the pack of two back. I was impressed with how well Kane adapted to being just his wolf self but had that feeling of something more, which came about at the end. Yes! Overall a fun, surprising and friendship feel good read!
I cannot say enough good things about this series. Humor, philosophy, family, love, heartbreak, adventure, and action. This series just keeps on giving! Can't wait till the next one is released, I have already pre-ordered it.
If you haven't ever read Mr. Wybrow before, allow me to introduce you to your next favorite author! The Wolfwere series is an intoxicating romp of humor, fantasy, and a generous dollop of magic. You simply must try it. Thank me later.
I didn't expect a new adventure with our two main protagonists so what an exquisite surprise to find them back! The author was inspired for a whole new arc and it worked great!
This might be my favorite book of the series!! Really good laughs and the progression of the characters is just what I needed!! The only bummer is that there are only two books left in the series!!
Love the way he writes. I can go through all the emotions in each chapter. His characters are interesting, endearing, and funny in just the right way. I am compelled to read everything he has and will write.
