So far this has come in extremely handy for 2 projects that came to me on a whim. Its a great reference book. A handyman's picture book and for those of us that learn visually its just what I need. I'm currently hoarding this book from the library but its so useful I might go out and buy it. Its the size of a coffee table book and that is nice for ease of use while working with tools. Further proof that those new e-readers can't replace all hard copies.
Comprehensive and easy to follow, but note that it's written with British woodworking terms ("rebate" instead of "rabbet", for example, and "thicknesser" instead of "planer"). I'm glad my local library had a copy.
I was looking for a book that would make me want to carpentry with hand tools only. This book managed to stoke my interest in carpentry again. I can see myself referring to this book for a long while.
Some good projects in this one - chopping board, frames, shelf/coat rack, bookcase, table, cabinet, bench, box, coffee table, chest, dresser (low dresser). Simple, modern design.
A lovely book in many ways, lots of beautiful pictures, loads of information, ideas... Makes you want to go and get started!! Very informative. Very good quality.
