Rowena lives in a village separated from the real world by a veil of magic. When their habitat is threatened by an old enemy, she’s sent through the barrier to assassinate him. Instead Rowena falls in love with Zach MacTavesh, the military commander in charge of enemy troops. He suspects her motives but falls for her anyway. When he learns the truth, can he coax her to aid his cause? Meanwhile, the barrier is failing and soon her people will be caught in a battle that could destroy them. Can she convince the commander that her friends want peace and not war? This charming futuristic romance will keep your interest throughout the story.

Bodice ripper in honor of Valentine's Day!
This book was a pleasant enough read, but the writing was definitely dated; it was written about 20 years ago. For example, anytime the hero, Zach, did anything jerk-ish/sexist, the other characters would say that "it's just his Warrior way." Nowadays, we recognize that as rape culture indulgence, but I feel like it was more acceptable to blame stuff on it being "just the way he is" back when this was written. So I tried to look past it. Even so, Zach was a very boring character. Honestly, Rowena was too. They weren't terrible, but just very sedentary. Very pedestrian.
This book was a bit confusing at times because it was basically written about 1890s England, but in an alternate universe. Like, it wasn't actually England. Or, there wasn't an England, period. All of the countries are fictional. Warriors and Dahzinn are races of people, not nationalities or career paths. Most of the book is about trying to stop a pending war between... well, everyone. Everyone basically could kill everyone else at a moment's notice, and they all hate each other. With this war being amped up for 300 pages, it sadly devolved into a confusing jumble at the end of the book. It really just becomes a mess of going back and forth between Rowena's land and Zach's land. It seemed a bit unnecessary and wasn't very pleasant to read. Rowena could go back and forth between the lands until, suddenly, she couldn't. It was clearly just a plot device, but it made no sense.
I will say that the book does follow through on its war build-up. I expected that after reading about the possibility for 300 pages, nothing would happen. So that was surprising and impressive. That said, it was also written in a really boring way. Honestly, the whole book had something of a snail's pace even when events were critical. Overall, not bad, but I wouldn't re-read it.

I'm PRETTY sure that this is not the book I read because the cover pic is not there and the book is called 'star-crossed', (not star-crossed love spell futuristic romance)
Its basically a romance story kinda thing. A girl named Christy is really into astrology and meets a boy name Ben at the plastic surgean's office. Christy and Ben were both there to erase a tattoo of someone in their past. (they tattoed the person's name on their arm) Its funny how the person Ben wanted to erase was named Christy and the person Christy wanted to erase was Benjamin. Christy thinks that they are destined to be with each other because their astrology signs say that the were destined to be with each other (i sad that twice)
SO they do start dting and Christy's ex, Benjamin, who is in jail, got out of jail and stufff happensssssssssss.......

I enjoyed this book even though I didn't think I would since it takes place in another time dimension but I liked the characters of Rowena and the Captain of the Warriors Zach.
