Two legendary comics talents collaborate on one of comics’ most iconic characters, as collected in a new Deluxe Edition hardcover!
In 2015, Swamp Thing co-creator Len Wein returned to his beloved creation alongside Kelley Jones, the artist of iconic horror comics including Batman & Red Rain, for Swamp Thing #1-2. This partnership branched into a full six-issue Swamp Thing series, where the Guardian of the Green receives what seemed impossible—a chance to live again as the man he once was.
This collection also includes Swamp Thing Winter Special, Wein’s final Swamp Thing story, released posthumously and drawn by Jones.
Collects Swamp Thing #94 and #100, Batman #521-522, Swamp Thing #1-2, Swamp Thing (2016) #1-6, and Swamp Thing Winter Special #1.

Wein was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2008.

(Zero spoiler review)
Len wrote this when he was not in the greatest of health and only a short time before he passed. It really wouldn't feel right to express my disappointment with this collection given the circumstances. Sadly I can't recommend this. Instead, please seek out and read the litany of comics the man wrote that were fantastic. R.I.P Len Wein. 2/5

This 5-star review is specifically for this edition, as opposed to the individual issues inside (though I will comment on them briefly). They're been reprinted elsewhere before, so this is really about this collection.
This "Deluxe Edition" is really nice, and it does what it sets out to do with quality and with respect. Essentially, this edition honors Len Wein, who passed away before completing his (at the time) next planned run on Swamp Thing, and also collects Kelley Jones Swamp Thing work (including that illustrated for other writers).
The Len Wein stories are interesting and well written, very much fitting with his original Swamp Thing work as well as folding in Alan Moore and others who came after.
There are a good few text pieces discussing the creators and how they came to work together, and the collection is better for them. They give some appreciated insights, and add to honoring Len Wein in a big way.
I will say that the summaries of what Len was planning on doing are... ok. Not great, but ok, and I'm glad they're included. That said, he seems to have had a habit of taking rough proposals and changing and improving them a good bit when it came to the final product, so it probably would have been great.
Kelley's artwork is gorgeous and fits the mood perfect. The included Batman issues are... meh. Not my favorite, but I'm glad they're there.
Worth the money, and a worthy memorial to the work of these two together.
