Rate this book

Everything about this book was so adorable and fun. I loved Archie and Eli. Archie's obliviousness was really cute, even though I wanted to shake him once or ten times. But he was still cute. And kind. And overall just a great person. Their dynamic, the text messages and banter were so much fun.

I love these authors' writing and the humor. Their characters are always well developed and have distinct personalities. And not only the main characters, but the side characters, too. I love that they also have a role to play and don't just exist here for a convenience. I can honestly say that I loved them all, though if I had to pick a favourite, it would probably be Trey. 🥰 And Marty is pretty hilarious.

Clueless frat boys giving "bro-jobs" and sloooooowly discovering their sexuality in a non-tortured, fluffy, adorbs way?? YAAAAASSSSSS

I'm a Lisa Henry and Sarah Honey fan-girl, especially since Sarah Honey brings out Lisa's light, non-tortured side (Lisa's solo works can get dark), and The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project is an example of why. This little novella is a BREEZE to read, and will make you smile the entire time.

I'm a sucker for a sexuality discovery story, and "a sweet, caregiving frat boy who wants to help his twinky new 'bro' find love and OOPS falls in love" is pretty much my crack. These frat boys are unproblematic AF, and the whole story will almost make you want to go back to college again.

If I'm being completely honest, I wish there were 50 more pages of *ahem* alone-time between these two at the end of the story. I think we could have gotten WAY more detailed there. I find that collabs between these two authors are a bit lower in steam than Lisa's work alone, and I for sure wanted more steam after all that build-up. However, this story was such a nice change of pace from the angst for me that I was still completely happy.

Readers, welcome to the new frat-boy series that you won't want to put down! Already ready to start the next one.

Awwww guys 😍😍😍😍 This was so cute and funny and wholesome. Of course, not very realistic but who cares??? The OTT oblivious frat-bro and the gay cutie were simply delightful. Sure, so much obliviousness should grate but it didn’t because I was having so much fun I didn’t even care.
The humor, the writing and OMG the frat house! In my next life I wanna be part of those guys’ frat house because that was a lot of fun! Everything was so so enjoyable and entertaining. We need more frat houses like that one , where everybody is good and kind and friendly . I loved those guys but I need to stress how much I LOVED Marty. He’s totally my spirit animal ! Pleased let the next book be his book, pretty please 🥹🙏
So yeah, read this book if you’re in the mood for giggles and swoon.

I’ve been hoping for a good new adult, M/M college romance from Lisa Henry for many, many years now—we’re going waaaaayyy back to the Prescott College days, people—and this latest offering, co-written with the equally awesome Sarah Honey, finally satisfied all my cravings.

Although he identifies as straight, preppy, pre-law, frat boy Archer is impressed and intrigued when a sweet, gay, art-ish twink named Eli gives him his number at a wedding.

After clearing up the mishap with a text to announce he’s straight, Archer and Eli hit it off quick and easy, becoming fast friends, despite their differences.

Soon, Archer decides to take it upon himself to help Eli find a boyfriend on campus, always the guy who wants to help his friends with their problems and make their lives easier in whatever way he can.

But the more time they spend together and the more potential dates Archer finds for Eli, Archer—ever the oblivious, well-intentioned dope—slowly comes to some big realisations about himself and what he actually feels for sweet Eli.

This book was a super-quick, smile-inducing read, clocking in at a perfect 173 pages and charming the pants off me with its lovely characters and their delightful antics.

I really liked the opposites-attract dynamic between Archer and Eli and I loved the ease and genuine progression of Archers bi-awakening—that is, once he pulled his head from the clouds and actually realised what he was feeling for Eli.

The larger cast of support characters were the ultimate shining light in this story, though, with multiple of Archer’s frat buddies stealing scenes left and right (MARTY!!!), making me chuckle and long for the sequels that are surely going to let many of them take the spotlight in new and fun ways.

The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project was the ultimate feel-good, easy-to-devour, M/M college romance and I cannot wait to see what the authors deliver up next for the young men of Alpha Tau.

***A special thanks to the authors for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“Fine, whatever. I’m either dumb enough or desperate enough to go along with this stupid plan of yours. Find me a frat boy boyfriend, Archer Calloway, and he’d better be perfect.”

Bi-awakening is not my fave trope, but yep, this was a lot of fun. I love me a good frat boy romance.

Anyone else super excited for Marty’s book? *lol

“You’re not a stray. You’re my bro.”

When I opened them, Eli was watching me, a half-smile on his face. “Are we bros now?”

Reading The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project this morning before work was probably not the best idea, because now I have this silly goofy expression on my face and I'm afraid my co-workers are going to think something's wrong with me. Since, y'know I take my work very seriously. And if 'everyone here was friendly and warm and welcoming' the frat bros were - I think I would not have minded being one of the bros; although much like Eli, a part of me died inwardly every time I read the word bro. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bruh... 💕💕

“Yeah, you’re going to,” I said. “And then, when you do, your new boyfriend can take you on a date to celebrate.”

He rolled his eyes, but he was smiling too. “How are you like this? Like, you’re just sunshine, aren’t you?”

And having someone like Archer, the hot-but-straight frat boy, as the protagonist really did feel like bathing in sunshine! He was really sweet, really helpful and utterly oblivious to the fact that he may not be as straight as he thought he was. And perhaps, bumping into Eli at Scout's older brother's wedding might have been the best thing that ever happened to him. Even if their friendship began under a false assumption, like a golden retriever, he took him under his wing and willingly offered to help him find a boyfriend - because, y'know, that's what bros do? They help each other out. 😏 And he was so endearingly sweet and passionate about it - 'if your friend could use a little help and it cost you nothing to give it, wouldn't you?' It's just in his nature - finding the most suitable contender who checked off all of Eli's boxes, the one best suitable to meet the criteria on his list - all the while, struggling to understand why there was an inner war waging inside his heart of not wanting to see Eli with any of the possible choices - clueless to the fact that perhaps the one Eli was pining for was someone he didn't have to search for. 🥺

Eli was an adorable dear - maybe, I related to him because of how he felt like an oddball in a world of privilege and old money folks with the artistic side of him. I liked that he stood his own - and that even with how cute he was - he never seemed to land any success with anyone - being on people's radar, but just not being perfect with anyone - considering how specific his requests were. 😊 You couldn't help but have a soft corner for how he behaved so candidly and openly honest with himself. Archer's reactions to said list was so entertaining, but it made for some really unique prospects and chances to spend more time with Eli. All the little moments where he ingrained himself into Archer's world - slowly becoming comfortable with him, embracing and enjoying the frat life, even if he always felt like he didn't fit in, they made an effort to make him feel like he belonged. It was really sweet at how he went along with all of Archer's ideas, even though it was clear who he had his eyes set on from the start, just too sweet not to say anything about it that would make Archer uncomfortable. 💜💜

“You've ruined all other frat boys for me.”

Uff, and when Archer and Eli actually decided to take things to the next level and the next and the next - that first kiss, that scene in the kitchen! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Archer sees the glimpse of the little bossy tease that Eli was - making him want him even more - and still not understanding why he wanted to help Eli! Why he wanted Eli! The inner panic attack of conflicting feelings - not knowing why he was feeling this attraction for him - it was written really well - believably well. 'An Oh my God moment was actually more of a Huh kind of moment' and I loved how everything slowly but surely fell into place afterwards. 🥹 Even with the jealous and not-so realized pining, even with Archer's futile attempts to cover up his true feelings for Eli - when it finally came to talking it out, Eli's reaction was so comforting and understanding. I know it seems like Eli was acting like a martyr going along with Archer's whimsical desires to help him out - if it's friends with benefits or friends helping him get some elsewhere - but, he understood that Archer had to figure it out on his own - what it was that he wanted. The Sherlock to his Swiftie, 'a frat boy capitalist future ambulance chaser ... with a scrawny twink who can’t do math and poses in the nude' but somehow, they made it work perfectly fine. 🌸

“Then, as we were heading for the exit, I said, “I don’t like him.”

“Yeah, that was pretty obvious,” Marty said. “To everyone.”

“Including Marty,” Casey said. “And that’s saying something.”

Haha, I loved all these lovable losers! 🥰🥰 I swear, they behaved like overgrown puppies hanging out together and trying ways to bounce all their pent-up energy off each other. But, they were the best of buds - hard to believe that they were aiming to be future lawyers and Supreme Court judges and representatives in the government with their antics, but they left me with such a bright smile on my face. Archer really lucked out with them and I loved seeing him with his frat buddies and how he unwittingly got all of them involved in his little project and his romantics woes. That scene, when all the frat boys went to scope out one likely candidate at the football field, was so hilarious - just imagining it now makes me laugh. It didn't feel rushed at all for how easily Eli was able to enter their frat dynamic - I liked how all of them were so genuinely kind and gentlemanly about it.

🌞 The positive vibes were just a breath of fresh air that I happily soaked up. 🌞 Scout and Trey were the moral guiding compass of thought, Marty was the puppy that needed to be put on a leash (okay, that sounds a lot kinkier than it's supposed to be!) and how everyone rallied the troops together to lend their words of wisdom or a show of support whenever needed - bless their young hearts at how supportive they were. They were not alpha males - just genuinely good-decent guys, and I liked that they actually wanted to be different from their forefathers and what Alpha Tau House represented; the warm way in which they invited Eli into their literal mansion - 'it was like having a large, extended family on campus' was a bona fide treat. 🤌🏻🤌🏻

A light-hearted read that promises to leave you with a smile on your face for how likeable everyone is - very adorable, very cute and promises a chuckle of laughs. Truly an amazing way to start off my Friday morning. And I'm really looking forward to the next book, because, haha, those two will make a very interesting pair, for sure. 🫶🏻

FYI- I will never not look at Banana Cream pie the same way ever again! 😅 And note to self - when someone tells you NOT to look something up on Google - DO NOT look it up on Google! 😭

4.5 ⭐️ This story starts off at a preppy wedding on a large Virginia Plantation just to set the vibe. (see: movie Wedding Crashers)

Archer is the epitome of golden retriever energy.

”So, I’m straight, but props to you for putting yourself out there. Super cool, bro.”

Opposites attract -
Wealthy, “wears blazers and boat shoes” pre-law “straight” frat boy, Archer Calloway x Artistic free spirit self-described twink, Eli Fuller

”You look like an artist. All sort of bohemian, wild and free and shit.”

I loved watching these two bond and truly learn about each other before they become more. You believe it when it happens because it feels inevitable at that point.

”Why did the idea of Eli and Jackson have my chest tightening? The thought of Eli kissing Jackson sat wrong, and I couldn’t figure out why.”

Oh,oh,oh 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ call on me! I know why.

If you are looking for a really good time with some super duper lovable frat bros (like really I’m obsessed with all of them), I recommend this fast read. Great introduction to a new series.

Ahhhh the frat bro mm romance (sigh) 😌

oh how i can wax poetically for ages about the fun factor of this particular subgenre🥰

{proviso: the endearing bros NOT the bully romances🫣}

so yeah from since time (after falling hard for Saxon's frat wars bros) i've been pretty bereft of that fun-loving Greek Row vibe! but now i can happily add this very awesome amazing Alpha Tau series to my loveable college boy shenanigans list!!

Because the amazing alpha tau boyfriend project is truly everything sweet and simple and fun in a read! Very enjoyable from a to z (or in this case T🤭) and i'm happy and excited for all the Amazing AT frat bro love still to come😍

Archie and Eli were sweet. Their arcs were low-angst, low-steam. The problem with being a high strung reader is that I expect the obliviously in love trope to have some angst, yearning. This book is not that and so I can't low rate it for something it was never trying to be. My aversion to contemporary romance continues.

I got a bit bored in the middle, not the book problem just me, I was on the middle of a headache while reading this but this book was Still cute, I just hate how it took so long for Archer to realized that he has a crush on Eli, he's so oblivious, is there guys in real life just like archer like he's so oblivious it took nearly the end of the chapter until he realized he's jealous, I loved Eli personality tho, he's so sunshine.
Also I couldn't care less about the history surrounding the alpha tau the seniors, I want more Archer and Eli, they're so cute together, so many pop culture references.

Okay. For a novella, that was really good! Great relationship development, funny and entertaining banter, and great characters. I also loved the meet-cute! An unrequited crush and a clueless attraction, Archer and Eli were cute as both bros and boyfriends. 🤭

However, Marty definitely was a scene-stealer! I can't wait to read his story! He's so much fun! 😍

Overall short, sweet and funny!
I had a great time with these boys (once I managed to suspend my disbelieve a bit, and got used to the fraternity-bro-vibes).
Archer's blindness to his real feelings for Eli wasn't drawn out infintely and was such a delightful part of the story!
The group of friends was awesome. Sooner or later I need Marty's story, too, obviously, he is hilarious.
All in all a short and silly, but lovely and entertaining book.

One thing I don't get, though.. at all.
Why do authors use "vegan" when listing offputting things in a person?
Why would caring for animals, not wanting to cause suffering for animals, being considerate with our planets future, be a bad thing?

Quote : "Maybe Dalton had shown his true colors as some kind of supervillain over dinner. Maybe I’d actually been right all along and he was, somehow, an asshole. Maybe he was a vegan or a shitty tipper."

Yeah, no. I don't get it.

After bumping into him several times at a friend’s wedding, Archer accepts the number of the shy guy he’d kept running into at the open bar, not realizing until it’s pointed out to him several weeks later that homie was trying to shoot his shot.

Not wanting to be a dick and to clear the air, Archer reaches out to let the guy know he appreciates the effort but isn’t into dudes, and ends up striking up with a friendship with Eli instead.

When Eli bemoans the fact that he can’t seem to find any cute available men who would be interested, Archer and his frat bros take it upon themselves to set him up on several dates.

Only the lines between Archer and Eli’s friendship start to blur, and Archer realizes that maybe HE was the perfect guy he’d been searching for Eli.

This book is one of those books you read when you want something fun and low-angst. It was very cute and not too long. It totally has the same sort of vibes as Frat Wars by Saxon James but with less sexy times.

Archer spent 90% of the book being an oblivious frat bro, the dude really thought he was homophobic instead of realizing he was jealous 💁🏻‍♀️, and the rest accepting he was in love with another dude without hang-ups, the epilogue is from Eli's POV, so that was a nice touch.

I definitely think this book will be best enjoyed if Bro Jobs is read first.

Frat bro meets endearing twink in this cute romcom. I’m not usually a fan of the trope but everything about it worked for me. It was sweet and delightful with such great feel good vibes. Archer and Eli are beyond adorable together. Plus the frat bro humor was genuinely funny. The side characters are also great. I especially liked Marty who is like a dumb, lovable Labrador. Is anyone else looking forward to his story as much as I am? I can’t wait for it.

It turns out that if I go into a book thinking of Greek, I don't judge it too much and just enjoy the ride :)

-MM Romance
-Some spice
-'Turns out I like guys'
-Frat bros that are also found family
-Some stupidity

I don't know why but I'm getting 'Greek' (the TV show) vibes and I'm here for it

I wanted a quick, fun read, and for that purpose, this was perfect.
At the start, the number of times they said 'bro' was annoying me, but I quickly realised it was purely to make it more silly and sweet.
I loved both Eli and Archer, and Archer being so clueless was adorable.

"It was like an episode of Queer Eye for the Frat Guy."

This book was exactly what I needed after my shitty day today. It was so light and silly and completely enjoyable. I couldn't stop smirking while reading it. All of the frat boys had stolen my heart by the time I finished the book. Archer was adorably clueless, but everything he did came from a good place. He was so kind hearted and spent much of his time helping others. I don't think he was even physically capable of walking past a person he thought was in need. That was just who he was.

We didn't get as much insight into Eli, as the book was almost entirely single POV from Archer's perspective. I did enjoy their text exchanges though. I felt like we got a know Eli a bit more through their messaging. I don't know why, but I am such a sucker for a book with text threads between MCs. This one wasn't overtly steamy, but it did have a few good steamy moments.

I'm already excited for book 2 and I may or may not have already read the blurb more than once after double checking the release date. I'm guessing that one is going to be from Marty's POV, but I'm hoping for dual only because that's a personal preference. Personal preferences aside, even though that has stopped me from picking up books before, there is no way in hell I'm going to miss out on Marty's HEA even if it was narrated by a horse. That's how much I enjoyed this fun loving and humorous book by this author collab.

No star rating, on the grounds that I'm not the best audience for this book. I love a queer awakening of any stripe, and I love dumb MCs who don't recognize their own feelings, but ... I guess there's a limit? And a man who wants to spend all his time with someone, has rock-your-world sex with that someone, and still doesn't notice that he's (a) smitten and (b) not actually straight -- well, that man is too dim to be believable even by ridiculous romance standards.

I don't mean to sound severe, though! I breezed through this while taking a break from Gregory Ashe's The Girl in the Wind, because I was running out of tissues, and I returned refreshed to the angstfest.

If you want a book to make you feel like Frat Wars by Saxon James, do yourself a favour and read this series immediately.

THE PREMISE: a loveable, “straight” frat bro makes friends with a funny artsy guy at a wedding. Except when he gets his number, he didn’t realise he was *getting his number* … so now he’s on a mission to find his new “bro” the perfect boyfriend. Spoiler: it’s him.

TROPES & VIBES:
- Funny, low angst and cute as hell
- The ‘setting the love interest up with other dates’ did make me want to die a little bit
- Idiots to lovers
- Taylor Swift references
- Dudes being green flags
- I’m kissing you … as a “bro” ??

These are great short reads (perfect for an audiobook).

Clueless frat boy who falls in love with their new gay “bro”? Check. Check. Check.

Sometimes the whole sexuality discovery trope is kryptonite for me, and this ticked all of my boxes. It was fluffy, sweet, and we LOVE unproblematic frat boys.

Archer was a sweetheart and his self discovery was humorous and made my heart warm because he was falling in love with Eli and not even realizing it. Wondering why the idea of Eli kissing his dates was bothering him and having no idea why?
*raises hand* call on me, I know the answer to that one!

This is pretty low steam even though there are, *ahem*,bro-jobs. But Archer doesn’t actually realize he’s into Eli until pretty late stage in the book.
I do wish we got a little bit more of that one-on-one time with them after all that build up, yet it doesn’t take away from the story with it not being there. But it is my the reason for the lack of a half star because it felt like something climactic was missing at the end, if you know what I mean.

Super cute, and highly recommend.

Cute and funny, nice little palate cleanser. I really enjoyed the start of this. My interest waned in the second half, the Swiftie lyrical references went over my head and I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed when we got to the end after some bjs and hand jobs and there was no more first time experiences for Archer other than a line about how he “railed the hell out of me last night”. Hey I’m totally fine if they don’t like penetrative sex but obviously they do and we didn’t get to see it, in a romance book where the entire plot is about them getting together I just felt it ended in a rather unsatisfying, abrupt way. Despite this I enjoyed the writing, all the side characters and the fun atmosphere of the frat house.
