Brannon Boys #3

Direct Nailing

Rate this book
Rory’s not supposed to hook up with his piercing clients. He’s definitely not supposed to go after his coworker’s dad…

Rory
When an older hottie comes into the tattoo shop asking for a Prince Albert, I can’t help but flirt. I’ve been on the anti-commitment train forever, but I’m always down to hook up. Except, this guy happens to not only be straight and newly divorced but also my coworker/bestie’s…dad. So, avoid at all costs, right?

Wyatt
Getting divorced only made me realize just how few friends I have. And maybe in a pathetic attempt at socialization, I ask my piercer to grab a drink with me after my session. But he makes me laugh, and he’s so animated and full of life that I want to hang out with him more.

Then I start noticing things I shouldn’t…like how those flickers of interest feel an awful lot like attraction. Same with that desire to be around him all the time too. And then the jealousy kicks in, and before I know it, I’m falling for Rory Brannon.
However, even if he was interested in more, there’s one major problem. He’s my daughter’s friend, and that makes him off-limits…no matter how badly I want him.

All hail the Prince Albert for forcing these two to get to know each other a bit before the nailing. Because once that mf healed they were up and at it.

Also felt too easy. The only source of angst was not something I could personally relate to. I blame being African because I truly, honestly can not picture a father being too bothered that their ADULT child might not like that the person they're dating is their friend.

Especially if he'd already been divorced from the mother for ages. And she's already dating someone else.

Basically the dad would be like....you've been saying this person is great for a few years and now that I've met them, I agree so wholeheartedly that I asked them out💀

African dad would be like 'meet your new mommy/daddy' - and there your best friend of 5 years would be💀

And you could flip out if you want but when you're done, an African dad would probably say some shit like 'call them aunt x /uncle y😂

If you want to fracture the family, it's on you 😂😂😂😂😂

Especially in a case like this, where the MC's child and the other MC met and became friends as adults.

Like.....there's no issue here. Even the age gap is just 12 years. I found this situation as 'problematic /forbidden' as I do brother's best friend stories. Which is to say- not in the least.

Anyway. Back on topic.

If you're looking for a story with minimal angst and MCs who know what they want (and say it) irrespective of how much it scares them? This might be the book for you.

Bonus points for Wyatt and Rory being exactly what the other has been looking for and failing to find.

Still. The disgustingly healthy resolution of every single one of their quibbles /fears edged me a bit.

Like fight a little, damn.

These dang Brannons all own you from the getgo, and yeah, Rory is no different from the rest. From the moment he meets Wyatt, things just click into place. For someone so afraid to open himself for something real, all it takes his co workers dad to show him what it's like to be cherished. Wyatt is newly single and coming to terms with his sexuality, yes their are some hiccups along the way, but really, when is there not? He just slots so beautifully with the rest of the Brannons you can't help but wonder why he hasn't always been a part of this chaos family. As with previous installments, you have that right combination of heat, humor, and sweetness that makes every story just so dang endearing.
With the addition of the Alchemy Ink crew where Rory works, you can't help but hope for more to come from that beautiful found family. They have the beautiful bond that Kat does so well in all her worlds where you can't help buy say gimme more of this group!

Low angst, high heat MM pairing and the last book of the Brannon Boys series (we'll see some familiar faces in Kat's next series - Alchemy Ink). This is Wyatt and Rory's story with dual POV chapters. Kat always writes neurospicy characters so well.

Overall fun and sexy - Rory and his friend/coworker's recently divorced Dad meet when Wyatt comes in for a genital piercing.

As someone with 19 piercings there were just a few technical things that bothered me - like the lack of paperwork and sterilisation and esp when Wyatt gets an erection and Rory says something like how that would help. EW. Gross. No. That's literally never okay and while it does happen the reality is that the piercer would step out for a moment to give the client time to get ahold of themselves (not literally). It just bothered me. Also Rory doesn't have any notable piercings that I can remember.. maybe nips but I would've loved to have read about something interesting considering his profession. Yes you do get piercers with minimal piercings but again this is just my gripe since I'm heavily involved in this community.

Anyway the story itself is fun and sexy. If I recall correctly the big drama is about the daughter finding out and she literally doesn't care so that was meh. But overall good fun.

💭 My Thoughts:
📖 Beautifully written... funny, spicy and so sweet. I adored every moment of it.
🥰 I’ve loved Rory from the start of this series, so finally getting his story felt like the perfect, a long-awaited gift.
☀️ Wyatt is calm and grounding, while Rory is chaos, sunshine, and all heart. They seem like total opposites, yet together they fit in perfect symbiosis, balancing each other in the most natural way.
🧲 Wyatt and Rory’s chemistry is intense… equal parts soft and fiery. I love their "outdoors" shenanigans, they are playful, teasing and undeniably hot. These two are unstoppable! 😏🌲
🥹 🫠 The way they acknowledge each other’s insecurities and offer comfort is truly heart-melting. Their vulnerability, laughter, and honest conversations made their connection feel genuine and deeply emotional.
🌈 And as always, the Alchemy Ink crew brings that pure "found family" energy I love in Kat’s books. Their get-togethers and movie nights are funny, supportive and full of love... perfectly paired with the Brannon family’s iconic chaos. Chef’s kiss 🤌

■ “You stalking me?” he asked. “Because I’ll have you know, I like it.”
My heart thumped a little harder. “Pretty sure most people go to the grocery store.”
“Preposterous."
...
“Throw the extra special eggplant into my cart,” I said, giving him a smirk.
“Now there’s an innuendo I haven’t heard before,” Rory teased as he lowered it down reverently. “Happy to comply.” *Wyatt*

🤌 I adored these two! 😂🤣

■ “You’re so damn radiant. You’ve got this presence that’s impossible to look away from, just so full of life. It’s no wonder you were the one to catch my attention.” *Wyatt to Rory*

👍 I’ll definitely reread this series!

Oh my gosh, what a great story, it was such a satisfying read.

Rory Brannon is the twenty-five-year-old piercing guy at Alchemy Ink. One day a handsome guy in his late thirties came by for a Prince Albert.
Rory is a big flirt, and Wyatt does enjoy his approach. But dang, Wyatt is his friend slash co-worker’s dad, that’s a pity, or not?
Wyatt Anderson wants to turn his life into something more. Starting with a PA piercing. He’s a divorced man with a twenty-one-year-old daughter, whom he had when he was only seventeen.

Rory is a ray of light, and Wyatt is drawn to him, he’s been so lonely for a long time. He asked Rory out for a bite after his piercing.
Rory doesn’t do relationships, he burned himself badly once, and from that time he keeps his heart out of every encounter.
Besides that, his mind and mouth work overtime, no one is attracted to that in the long term. Ha! Sweet Rory wait for it, Wyatt is something else!

They have the most scorching encounters, and without confessing this to each other, they are head over heels. There’s Wyatt’s daughter slash Rory’s friend to consider.
Wyatt thinks he’s too old for such a vibrant personality as Rory’s, and Rory assumes he's always too much to be kept by someone.

Rory deserved to be loved, unconditionally, and gosh, Wyatt loved him and his beautiful mind!
I loved this read so much; it’s hot, of course, but also has lovable characters and a wonderful plot.
The author writes in a captivating way, painting the characters as clear and lovable, and always with great content!

Direct Nailing - Katherine McIntyre
5/5

* SPOILERS *

As usual, Katherine’s books have been amazing since I discovered her last year. I’ve been addicted to her writing and you can’t help but fall in love with each couple. I’m really sad that the Brannon Boys series is over but man, what an amazing way to end the series.

Wyatt and Rory were absolutely everything I didn’t think I needed. The way they are drawn to one another right after Rory gives Wyatt a Prince Albert piercing was sinfully good.

I just loved how Wyatt’s daughter wasn’t upset about him being with someone way younger or even who it was. It truly was one of my favorite moments in the book along with the chaos family drama towards the end of the book.

I loved how Wyatt didn’t even question himself too much about his sexuality. I also loved how much these two go through their insecurities and then they both come through at the end. These two are just so perfect for one another.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Finally seeing Rory get his HEA was so satisfying. For someone who went through so much with past hookups it was so nice to see him find someone who saw him. I love that Rory brought out Wyatt and made each other happy. Such a cute story and I love all the emotions it drags you through. I’m sad this was the end.

4.5/5. I loved it. I am hella disappointed that not one love analogy was made with tattoos or piercings. Golden opportunity missed. The cheese was already there, and some queso would’ve been perfect for the shark-coochie board. I’m happy the world will keep going, too, and I’m always down for these light and happy stories. Even when shit gets heavy it’s dealt with in a gentle way and I can count on getting entertainment without bawling. PICASSO-PICASSO! 🤌

Direct Nailing by Katherine McIntyre is the 3rd book in her Brannon Boys series. It is an age gap story between a man who is starting his life over after a divorce and another who thinks he’s too much and how they fall in love. Wyatt Anderson is a carpenter and was recently divorced from his wife. They married young and had a daughter, Harper, raised her, and then knew they were better as friends, which they continued to be. He was engrossed in raising his daughter and was on the quiet side and was often told he was dull and boring. Now, at 37, he was going to do many of the things he missed out on during those years, starting with getting a piercing in a very intimate place. Harper was a piercer at Alchemy Ink in Kennett near Philadelphia but she wasn’t about to do it so she recommended Rory Brannon who worked with her and said he was the best piercer she knew. Rory is 25 and part of the Brannon family, a very boisterous bunch of outspoken people. He has ADHD and was easily distracted with almost everything except when he was piercing, something he loved to do and he was good at it. He was also loud and snarky and got used to deflecting his feelings which he learned to do in high school between teachers thinking he wasn’t doing his best and a first kiss with another boy that turned into bullying. He was immediately attracted to Wyatt when he came in the shop but got down to business and did the piercing. Wyatt was also feeling something for Rory and asked him to have dinner with him so they start getting to know each other. This led to him checking the piercing in an interesting scene after working out at the gym and then offering to hang out with Wyatt and be his friend. They meet again at the grocery store and Rory makes him feel like he is fun to be around and later go to a gay club and dance which leads to a heated kiss. But behind all of this is the fear that Harper will not approve of them being together and Rory worries that Wyatt will eventually decide that he is too much and will leave which would break his heart and he’s not sure he can go through that. But they continue to see each other and have some hot love scenes, starting at Wyatt’s house where he cooked him dinner and also in the forest as they went on a hike. Things are going well but the worries are still there. By this time Wyatt knows he wants a relationship with Rory and things come to a head when Harper sees them together and comes to the right conclusion. In the end things work out for them and they become boyfriends. Wyatt tells him he is the connection he was always looking for and Rory knew that Wyatt understood him in a way no one ever had before and accepted him just the way he was which leads them both to say I love you. I really enjoyed this story. Rory is snarky and fun but also deflects his feelings. Wyatt is strong and supportive and finds everything about Rory to be what he was looking for. They had an instant attraction but move somewhat slowly because they are unsure of what Harper will say. They went on some interesting dates that led them to love. Rory’s family are boisterous and fun but are also there for him and give him advice, as does Wyatt’s ex and Harper is there to finally give her opinion. The people who worked at Alchemy Ink also play a part in the story, especially in helping Rory to show his talents at a convention. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like age gap stories about an older man starting over and learning who he is and what he wants and a man who hides his feelings and how they find what they need in each other as they fall in love.

However, even if he was interested in more, there’s one major problem. He’s my daughter’s friend, and that makes him off-limits…no matter how badly I want him.

MY THOUGHTS
This was a quick, low-angst, fun read with just enough emotional worry to keep you invested in how the characters are going to overcome the things that seem to be standing in the way of their HEA. There's Wyatt, who's discovering his bisexuality; Rory, who's never had someone think he's worth the effort; and Harper, the daughter/best friend who has no idea they're hooking up.

I related easily to Rory's ADHD battle and the rejection sensitivity he experiences. People are often so focused on the "attention" aspect of ADHD that they don't even realize how emotionally dysregulating it is to live with day in and day out. You can know something is true (Rory's family adores him, for example) and still be bombarded with negative thoughts and dysphoric feelings that seem so much stronger than the facts.

Wyatt is a big ol' sweet, affectionate, indulgent teddy bear with serious DILF vibes. I absolutely can't blame Rory for not being able to stay away from him. He also has a great support system in his ex-wife and his daughter, but part of his growth is also to figure out how to socialize and find his people again after getting divorced. He definitely coasted through life when he was married, and Rory provides a great counterbalance to his serious nature, easily the colorful addition to what has been a really routine existence for Wyatt. They make a great pair and complement each other well.

BOTTOM LINE
Heck, yeah, read this one! It's a great way to wrap up this fun, low-angst series.

Now that I've read this one, I'll be going back and reading the first two because I loved the characters and the writing style, so now I want more 😂.

Direct nailing is book 3 in the Brannon Boys series. I have only read this one in the series (thus far) and was not lost or overwhelmed by previous characters so it can be comfortably read as a standalone, although this book was good so why not just read them all? lol.

Rory works at a tattoo parlor and does all of the body piercings. He loves what he does and is slowly building up a name for himself within that community. In walks Wyatt, one of his coworker/friends father, recently divorced and looking to tick a few items off his bucket list - namely by getting his peen pierced (as you do after a divorce).

Rory is instantly attracted, but warns himself off. This is a customer. This is his coworker/friends dad. He's was married to a woman and is coming off a divorce! All valid reasons to leave the guy alone and yet... there one encounter - even involving peen needles - carried a spark and chemistry that stayed with both of them even after Wyatt leaves the shop, newly accessorized.

This book was quite low angst and straight (lol not really) forward. The main points of contention revolves around the daughter/coworker finding out before either of them was ready to tell her for one. For two, Rory isn't good at keeping secrets and he's not one to agree to go back into the closet for any length of time while the guy he's seeing figures things out. Finally, Wyatt has never considered he might be into men as well as women. He's been married for a long time and never got the chance to explore. Is he jumping in too fast with Rory considering all of the new thing's he's learning about himself?

What I did find refreshing though was how all of these things were handled within the story. Wyatt is a grown ass man and actually acts his age rather than his shoe size. Rory, being younger and having the experiences he's had, is more insecure within the relationship even though he's the more knowledgeable having come to terms with his own sexuality long before meeting Wyatt. I normally like my books with a bit more angst, but appreciated adults acting like adults in this one and you know - communicating.

Rory's family was an absolute delight and it was there that the couples from the previous books were introduced and vague bits of their stories hinted at and discussed. Even for side characters with not a whole lot of page time, they were fleshed out enough that I am curious enough to go back and read the other two. I have a feeling I know which one will be my fav of the series - but we will see I suppose.

Anyway, dive into this one if your a fan of pierced peens, age gap, friends father, secret relationship, bi awakening situations and of course, check triggers. Rory does give Wyatt a piercing on page and while not particularly graphic, if that's not you're thing you might want to avoid that part of the story. Then strap yourself in and enjoy.

Really enjoyed! Rory is a chaos gremlin body piercer and Wyatt is a dependable hot dad trying to break out of his divorce funk with some new body jewelry. Together, they’re funny and spicy (and secretly sweet, just don’t tell Rory). This is an insta-lust book with a bit of angst/forbidden vibes, but that doesn’t stop either from diving right in.

I loooooved the premise of a mid-life crisis genital piercing. It’s so mildly scandalous and funny. A couple of things bugged me about it, though. Nobody in the book ever signs a liability waiver or fills out paperwork before getting holes punched in their body. Gahhh, that takes me right out. 🙈😂 Also, I really wanted Wyatt to talk about his decision to get a PA. What inspired him? How much research did he do? Did he look at pics or videos? Did that contribute a bit to his queer awakening? People with tattoos and piercings tend to have stories and it bums me out we didn’t hear Wyatt’s. (Full disclosure, I have body piercings and I love hearing stories about piercings/tattoos because they’re so personal and interesting.)

Wyatt’s queer awakening isn’t angsty, but he does spend time worrying and learning. He’s that lovely combination of open-minded and oblivious, which results in some great awkward comedy (something I can also speak about from experience!).

I like that Rory has an independent character arc, where he’s trying to achieve more than the lowly expectations that are dragging him down. Wyatt plays an important role in helping to heal some of Rory’s damage, but at the core of it, Rory makes his own choices. He even reaches out to his family for support and the resounding shock is so funny and heartwarming.

Wyatt and Rory are blisteringly hot when they get together. Great scenes, with one gripe. Impact play drops right out of the clear blue sky, which, yay for the fun, but it never gets talked about. Whyyyyy is it so suddenly compelling and sexy to the both of them? The descriptions during the scenes are detailed and the teasing afterward is great, but I want the backstory and psychology, too. I think for Rory, some of it involves quieting his racing mind, and obviously he must enjoy some pain with all his tattoos and piercings. For Wyatt, I’m not sure. He jokes about Rory being a brat, but Wyatt seems to be a sadist who comes awfully close to getting off just from inflicting pain. That deserves some conversation! 😂

Ultimately, this book is a nice balance of spicy, sweet, funny, and empowering. I really enjoyed it and I’ll be reading the whole series again because the Brannons crack me up while being down-to-earth, warm, and inviting. Cheers for the end of the series! 👏

The blurb sets up this delightful story of Rory and Wyatt so well, the meeting and development of the relationship just flows. Rory works at a tattoo shop as a piercer and when this hot older guy comes in for a Prince Albert piercing, he can’t help himself flirting the whole time, his ADHD having him talking non-stop, all the while creating sexy scenarios in his head. Rory has never been able to be settled, his mind and body always in motion, having him labeled by others as “too much”, so he avoids relationships to protect himself from dashed hopes. With this guy, something pulls him for more. Only problem, this sexy guy is his friend and fellow piercer’s father.

Wyatt is a decade older than Rory at 37, a father at a young age, but with a 21 year old daughter, he thinks of himself as old. Six months divorced, he is lonely, but he is not the type of guy to put himself out there. Drawn to Rory’s sunshiny attitude, he takes Rory up on his offer to take him to a gay club just to spend more time with this captivating guy. Little does he know, he is discovering that he might actually be bi, all centered around his attraction to Rory. This night opens his eyes, his mind, and his emotions to the fascinating world that is Rory. Now he needs to figure out how to keep Rory in his life.

The rest of the book tells the tale of the developing relationship between the two, of their thoughts and fears, desires long held but felt would never be fulfilled, told from alternating POV. The concern over the reaction from Wyatt’s daughter and the reaction of Rory’s unusual family are all hurdles (though not as high as anticipated) that must be faced by two guys, insecure in themselves for different reasons, but willing to face whatever is needed to make it work. Each fills a need the other has, creating a “home” for both, a place to love and be loved, with someone to belong to forever.

Rory and Wyatt pulled me in, investing my emotions in their connection and growing romance, smiling at their banter and interactions, rooting for the relationship to grow to a point of committing to each other long term. The entire Brannon family was an entertaining plus, and Wyatt’s daughter’s reaction was too. The book kept me engaged from beginning to end, it had several spicy encounters, and left me with a very satisfied feeling at the conclusion. This writer creates characters you feel you would like as friends, all in a small town atmosphere, easy to be pulled into the lives of realistic, relatable people. Pull up a chair and enter this world for an entertaining evening getaway.

I received an advance copy of the book and this is my voluntary review.

Wyatt is a 37 year old recent divoree with a 21 year old daughter and his own carpentry buiness. He's a planner and more on the serious side and feels like now that he raised his daughter and divorced his wife, finally after both knowing they were better as friends than spouses for years, that he's hit his peak and is bound to spend the rest of his time alone as he isn't close with his family and doesn't really have friends. Rory is a 25 year old piercer who works at Alchemy Ink. He has ADHD and is impulsive and fun to be around and also has no filter and he's been made to feel like he's too much for most of his life (not by his family). He has hook ups but men don't really stick around for more which works for Rory because he doesn't think anyone could handle him long term and he'd rather not get close as feelings make him want to deflect. These two men couldn't be any different yet that doesn't change the fact that they're kindred spirits. They've lead different lives and had different experiences but both were made to feel either too serious or not serious enough and letting people in was hard. They've always felt different but from that first time Wyatt went into Alchemy to get a Prince Albert piercing done by Rory, who was referenced by Wyatt's daughter Harper who coincidentally is a co worker of Rory's, they clicked. Wyatt may not have known he was bi but the more time he spent around Rory the more he knew what he was feeling was chemistry and attraction that built into a beautiful bond between them. Wyatt made Rory feel safe, trust and acceptance which were things Rory never felt for a man before. And in return Rory made Wyatt feel alive and fun and like his life was just starting rather than ending. Things get intense and definitely hot and neither feel like what they have is just a fling. But they both feel guilty because of Harper and they're afraid of how she'll react more so than the fact Rory is a guy and younger than Wyatt. But if they want to be together then they have to have the courage to come out and be the forever they know they can be. This was actually such a great book and one of the first I've read by this author but let me tell you it won't be the last as I feel like I'm about to go on a binge with her other books. My heart went out to Rory and Wyatt. They were sexy, tender, raw and so real even when it was hard. They saw each other in ways no one else ever has and their HEA was well deserved and so appreciated. I'm looking foward to the future spin off of Alchemy Ink next!

Here's "Direct Nailing." The third novel in Katherine McIntyre's brand new series, Brannon Boys. I'm so exited to get back into this family of crazy and chaotic brothers!!

["Rory’s not supposed to hook up with his piercing clients.

He’s my daughter’s friend, and that makes him off-limits…no matter how badly I want him."]

I loved this book, this couple. I've loved this whole series and this entire family, but these two were especially cute.

There was a lot of mutual healing and laughter. There was friendship and trying new things. There was a lot of vulnerability and trust. It was adorable, even if I teared up a few times.

I loved how from their meet-cute, they became instant friends and then instantly more.

Also, totally forgot how angst-less this series is (how angst-less Katherine is), could have saved myself a little anxiety.

The Brannon boys are part of the rambunctious Brannon bunch. They have been discovering new parts of themselves, finding their confidence and most importantly finding love in unexpected ways. Rory(IMO) is the most fun brother, he has an unfiltered view of the world and loves to tell you all about his experiences. Now when it comes to himself, he keeps his life close to the chest and masking his insecurities with humor and what seems like a lack of care. So when he has a new piercing client who revs his engine, he is quite excited but they have a mutual connection that makes the whole thing feel forbidden plus he projects a straight divorcee. Wyatt has been coasting, he can check off being married and being a dad off his life list but he's ready to live for himself. So his daughter is grown and headed into a new career path, his ex is happy in a new relationship and he is just existing. Wyatt is ready to live the life, he actually imagined for himself and that starts with a PA piercing. He doesn't imagine he would meet a man, who is so much of what he is not but also craving many of the same things in his piercer. Wyatt and Rory become fast friends and soon they begin to notice things that take them both by surprise. Soon they begin to explore things with each other that they never imagined before and the scariest part is it feels so right. It's easy and puts both men at constant ease when they don't allow an outside force to cast a shadow. The reward of each other far outweighs all the potential backlash and judgement. When you have each other the rest of the world washes away allowing the good to come to the surface. You will root for and with Rory and Wyatt.

While the Brannon boys have all found love, we are given some little crumbs that leave us craving more. But Katherine always has something to act as balm for the next series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rory and Wyatt's book is one that'll have you smiling, shaking your head, and may tempt you into getting a tattoo AND a piercing. At least I know I'm tempted..

If you've read the other books in this series, (Brannon Boys), then you'll know the chaos that these characters often get up to when they are all together. And some chaos definitely ensued in the finale of this lovely series.

Wyatt is a divorced man, who's also a dad, and once believed to be straight. After ignoring things he wanted to do for years he's finally doing the tasks on his list, first one being, getting a piercing. That's where he meets our whirlwind of bubbly, flirty, chaos, who is very sweet and good at his job...

Rory has always avoided relationships, he hasn't ever been interested in more than a fling, he's good at his job and is passionate about it. So why is it that the one man he actually grows attached to is his co-worker's dad?? And why can't he seem to stay away from the older man?

Oh sweet, sweet, Rory. He thought that his relationship with Wyatt wouldn't mean anything other than a bit of fun, but he eventually realized that it became so much more than that. Which of course was cause for some family meetings, (and interventions.) One of my favorite aspects of the Brannon Boys series is how open, accepting, and caring everyone is. It's really beautiful to read about especially with how the world currently is.

Even when Harper eventually found out about Rory and her dad's relationship, while she was upset at first, she never got hostile or cruel. She accepted the fact that her dad and Rory were happy together and then was happy for them. I loved how low-angst this series was.

While I am sad to see this come to an end, I am SO excited for Alchemy Ink. I mean, come on, a whole series featuring characters who work in a tattoo & piercing shop?!? Say less, Kat, sign me up!

Firstly, let me say I got this book from gay romance reviews and this is me leaving my honest review.
Wow, I couldn’t put this book down. It has such a good feeling to it the whole way through.
Rory is a piercer within the tattoo shop and one snowy afternoon. He gets the most delicious man walking in and asking for a Prince Albert piercing. Rory is really taken with him and hopes that he can flirt enough to get to know him but then he finds out that he is Harper‘s dad. Harper works within the tattoo shop as a part-time piercer but of course she didn’t want to give her Dad a print Albert piercing because that is just too weird. Her dad Wyatt had gone through an amicable divorce with Susie. They had Harper when they were in high school married very young and made it work but as time went on they were more best friends than husband and wife. So Wyatt meeting Susie in high school getting married have a baby never questioned his sexuality but there was a energy that he felt talking to Rory. Wyatt asks Rory if he would like to join him for dinner cause some weird feeling he was starving after his piercing and Rory agreed and this is really where they start a friendship. Rory being Rory he couldn’t help but flirt with Wyatt and when he finds out that Wyatt’s next big thing is he wants to go clubbing. And this is where Wyatt finds out that Rory is gay but isn’t sure if the flirting is real or if that was just his personality but he knew he wanted to spend more time with Rory. Clubbing they went that’s what you’re getting.
Hand on Heart I think everyone will enjoy this Book. It has such a good feel to it’s the banter, the flirting, the sexual glances, the tension, the attraction, This book has everything in it and of course we get to be at the Brannan‘s house again. This Book has it all it really does and finally let me just say that Harper and her mum are brilliant just brilliant a great great Read.

Direct Nailing is a perfect third addition to the Brannon Boys series of cozy comfort romances by Katherine McIntyre. This is a standalone novel but features characters from the first two books in the series. In Direct Nailing we get the fun and slightly angsty trope of falling for a friend’s dad.

Rory Brannon is a 25 year old piercer who works at Alchemy Ink. He has a close knit relationship with his family but is a bit wilder than the rest of his siblings. He has ADHD and is used to being “too much” for a lot of people. This means he has frequent hookups but has never had a relationship.

Wyatt Anderson is a 37 year old divorcee who has a good relationship with his ex wife Susie and their daughter Harper. He and Susie were young 17 year olds when they had Harper and were more like friends than romantic partners, especially the last years of their marriage. His daughter Harper is also a piercer at Alchemy Ink and good friends with Rory.

When Wyatt comes to the shop to get a Prince Albert piercing from Rory he’s surprised to find himself attracted to the young piercer. Wyatt always assumed he was straight but soon realizes he’s actually bi. I love that Wyatt doesn’t go through a gay panic phase. He just accepts that he’s bi and it’s not a big deal.

While I would call Direct Nailing a low angst book there is a bit of angst about Wyatt being Harper’s dad. They are afraid Harper will be upset with them and aren’t sure when to tell her about their relationship. As usual Katherine McIntyre writes phenomenal spicy scenes that are effortlessly weaved into the story and don’t feel forced. Her side characters are as well developed as the main characters and I always find myself wanting to learn more about them. While I’m sad to see the end of this series I can’t wait to read more about the Alchemy Ink crew in future books.

Rory needed someone in his life who appreciated his energy and didn't get overwhelmed by it, and Wyatt with his even-keeled nature was the perfect complement. The two met at Rory's job, sparked a connection, and took off running with it. Both men were a little lonely and tired of surface level connections, and it quickly became clear that their chemistry couldn't be more different than what they'd experienced with others. Wyatt had never considered the idea of bisexuality, but it became impossible to ignore when he was so drawn to Rory. Rory spent the first part of the book convinced he was just a fling and Wyatt would never choose him for the long-haul, and I was delighted to prove him wrong. When the two of them were alone, I had no doubts -- they were all in, happy and playful and all over each other. The main sticking point for the two of them was their mutual connection through Wyatt's daughter / Rory's piercer friend, Harper. Wyatt was conflicted about what dating a younger man would signal to his daughter while Rory was scared of losing a good friend, not to mention the strain it would put on their fledgling relationship. That fear kept both of them from acknowledging that their "just a fling" was starting to look a whole lot like love. It got to a point where I was ready to bang their heads together until they spit the words out, but before things could drag on too long fate intervened and gave them just the nudge they needed to put everything into perspective. I was satisfied by the conclusion to the story, and I enjoyed seeing the outcome of Rory's tattoo convention aspirations firsthand. The Brannon family is a delightfully chaotic bunch, and I'll miss giggling along with all the siblings.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

MY OPINION: This is the third book in this series, and I am a little sad to see that the family has all found partners. In the final chapter of a fun series, we get to meet the youngest sibling, Rory.

Rory is neurodivergent, and I think he is my favorite. When he meets a hottie who is older and wants a very intimate piercing, he is drawn to him immediately. The fact that he is the father of one of his closest friends adds a little spice to the hookup, but one-and-done is how he does things. His friend would never know.

Wyatt is recently divorced and considering what happens next. What he doesn’t expect is his draw to Rory from the minute he meets Rory. The fact that Rory is a man and he is straight is a surprise.

When the men form a friendship, they get under each other’s skin and find themselves wanting to spend time with each other. After they get spicy with each other, things get complicated between them. They are as opposite as two men can get; Wyatt calms Rory’s chaos. And with that, they find themselves falling, wanting, and needing each other.

This was an easy read with all the great things you find in the other stories. We touch in with the family who loves Rory and the person he is. They are safe for him, even if he often feels lost in the world; he always has his family. Wyatt is there for Rory, not letting him put himself down, while finding himself. Sharing his truth is easier than Wyatt expected because the people in his life are good, and Rory’s family makes him feel included.

I enjoyed this book and found the whole series fun to read. There is plenty of powerful spice for the reader, and plenty of favorite tropes included. I recommend picking these up. All of them are perfectly paced and a lot of fun.

Rory, a flirty piercer with zero interest in commitment, knows hooking up with clients is off‑limits — and crushing on his coworker’s newly divorced dad is even worse. But the moment Wyatt walks into the shop, older, charming, and unexpectedly sweet, Rory can’t help the spark between them. Wyatt, lonely after his divorce, reaches out to Rory for friendship… only to realize his growing attachment looks a lot like attraction. The more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore the chemistry, the jealousy, and the feelings neither of them expected. But Wyatt’s daughter is Rory’s best friend, making their connection strictly forbidden. Falling for each other might be inevitable — acting on it is the real problem.

I loved this charming, low‑angst romance built on undeniable chemistry and a whole lot of heart. Rory and Wyatt’s attraction sparks from the moment they meet — flirty, warm, and impossible for either of them to ignore — but what really gives the story its emotional pull is how hard they both try not to cross a line that would hurt Harper. Harper isn’t just Wyatt’s daughter; she’s Rory’s best friend, and that shared loyalty adds a lovely layer of tension as the two men tiptoe around feelings that only grow stronger. Their connection feels natural and sweet, full of laughter, curiosity, and that slow‑burn awareness that they’re in trouble the moment they start wanting more. A tender, funny, and heartfelt MM romance with mature content about unexpected attraction, complicated boundaries, and the hope that love can find a way without breaking the bonds that matter most.

I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 3 in the Brannon Boys series but you don't need to have read the other two books first. I'd say, do though! It will give you a better view of how this family works, cos as Rory says "they are very co-dependent!" But in the best way.

What I loved most about this book, and indeed all three books, is the really low angst between the couples!

Here, Wyatt could have wrecked his head questioning what he was feeling, but he doesn't, not hugely, and after speaking to his ex wife, who was amazing, he runs with his feelings. And I loved that when these two start, there was never going to be any going back.

Yes, Wyatt is a good deal older than Rory, and he is Rory's co-worker's dad, but Wyatt seems to have the biggest problem with that, not Rory or anyone else. I loved how Harley, Wyatt's daughter reacts. She also was amazing!

It's steamy, as these books are, but super low on kink, apart from some daring outdoor smexy. I loved what Wyatt did after that, with that sort of tree! Made it super special to them, but no one else knew the signifcance of the wood used.

It also gives us an insight into Alchemy Ink, which I know is Ms McIntyre's next projects!

It's always sad when a series finishes, but I hope these boys pop up in Alchemy Ink. Ive loved them all!

This is the third book in the Brannon Boys series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone read but do yourself a favor and read the series in order. I am sure that you will enjoy it more that way. This is the story of Wyatt Anderson and Rory Brannon. Wyatt is the father of Harper who works at Alchemy Ink with Rory. She is his best friend and co-worker. Wyatt has divorced from his high school sweetheart and is ready to explore all the things that he put aside being a dad. Since he has decided to cross off getting a Prince Albert off his bucket list, his daughter recommends Rory do it instead of her. Wise decision all around. Rory is a piercer. He is trying to build up his reputation and bring in more clients. He is instantly attracted to Wyatt when he walks in the shop. But when Rory learns who Wyatt is, he immediately moves to the "out of bounds" list in his mind. This is their story. The book is very well written and easy to read. I received a complimentary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. I loved how honest and straightforward Wyatt was with Rory as he was learning about himself. Rory got the support he needs from Wyatt. For once he is seen and not considered "too much". I found it to be a really enjoyable read. I really liked this series and I am excited to start on the next series about the Alchemy Ink guys. I would definitely recommend this series.

'Rory snatched the napkin and shoved it under his beer. “Whoops, did that have something on it?”
I chewed on the inside of my cheek to hide my amusement. The bartender was down the opposite end and hadn’t seen Rory’s move, but I didn’t mind his little display in the slightest. Was he jealous? He didn’t have a single thing to worry about. Still, my heart thrummed faster at the thought.
A tap on my shoulder had me turning around. A tall, built guy who looked to be about my age stood behind me. “Hey, can I buy you a drink?”
I lifted up my beer. “Already got one.”
“He’s with me,” Rory all but snarled.

I loved this book. It was such a fun, sweet, and sexy bi-awakening romance. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Rory and Wyatt. I loved the dynamic between them and the way their relationship developed. The chemistry between them sizzled. They were seriously so cute together! And it all started with a not-so-innocent piercing.

The scene at the club was my favorite because it opened Wyatt's eyes to new possibilities and seeing that not only does he still have a whole life ahead of him he could explore, it showed him he was still desirable despite his confidence having taken a hit from his marriage. And I found Rory getting possessive and frustrated with all the guys hitting on Wyatt adorable. Both men had their insecurities to fight, but I thought they really suited each other so well. Another beautiful romance by Katherine McIntyre! 5 stars

Sweet Family Chaos

Oh my, this was so good. I really love this series. The Brannon family is everything. Messy, Chaotic, Nosy, Loud but also just so loving and perfect.

These two have an adorable Prince Albert piercing meet-cute lol

Rory and Wyatt were amazing. Their relationship was so sweet. They absolutely are perfect for each other.

I loved seeing Rory’s walls break down, and his vulnerability show. Wyatt saw him, truly saw him, and oh did he love him.

Oh, my heart. This was so great.

“You’re so damn radiant. You’ve got this presence that’s impossible to look away from, just so full of life. It’s no wonder you were the one to catch my attention.”

I absolutely got teary-eyed for them.

The love The Brannon's showed Wyatt was everything as well.

These too were also so shot and spicy, what a mouth Wyatt has on him! SO good!

“Rory wasn’t just a fresh start. He was the hope for a love that I’d given up on a long time ago.”

I also loved The Alchemy Ink crew, hoping we get to see more of them in the future.

“Truth be told, home was never about a place but the people, something I’d learned early on with my family. And in Wyatt Anderson, I’d found mine.”

This was just perfect. So well written, so sweet and cute and spicy and just heart-warming.

Fantastic book

SO thankful for this arc
