All I wanted to do was disappear, to get out of a bad situation.
I never expected my saving grace to come in the form of three roommates; three MALE roommates.
I found myself inexplicably drawn to Chase… and Patton… and Tyler...
It was all just effortless and uncomplicated.
The connections formed so quickly that these men made it easy to get back on my feet.
Once I realized that I wasn’t getting hustled and that these men cared about me in a way I hadn’t been before, the connection soon turned into something more.
Being with more than one man at a time isn’t something I ever imagined doing, but having two, and maybe someday all three, of them at once seems so natural, so right.
It may be a different kind of relationship, but I know all three of them have my back should my past ever resurface.
Common Areas: A Reverse Harem Romance by Alyssa Clark
Emily Farwell needs to escape from an abusive relationship. She finds an add online from someone looking for roommates and calls it on the night of her greatest need. As it turns out, the three other occupants of the house are three men, three attractive eligible single men. They accept her into their home immediately, and even though it's not the wisest thing to do, all of them fall in love with her, and she with them. It's been only recently that I first encountered the 'Reverse Harem' genre and it was love at first sight. First read. You get it. It's quite complicated to write a book balancing three love relationships, but Alyssa Clark nailed it with this novel. I believed everything, from beginning to end. The three men had distinct personalities, and I could well understand why she would fall in love with all three of them, and they with her. The writing itself was very well done. The very first scene pulled me into the story, and the pace of the novel made it hard to put down. There was enough suspense to balance out the romantic interludes. If I have to name one thing I did not like as much about this novel, it's only that I didn't understand why two of the three men wanted to hide their occupations. I can't go much deeper into explaining this because I don't want to give spoilers, but especially for one, I didn't get it. Overall I think this is a great read that I enjoyed a lot. The romantic scenes were hot, and I totally wanted to trade places with Emily. Apart from the abusive ex-boyfriend part, that is. If you enjoy reading Reverse Harem romances, then you're gonna love this book too. It's a definite recommend for me.
Please, please, please have your manuscript professionally edited and proofread before publication. There were so many errors this book was painful to read - I almost couldn’t finish it. Improper tenses, incorrect word usage (worse when it should have been worst, for example) run on sentences. Scenes and plot that didn’t flow. Normally I can overlook some errors, but there were just too many here to ignore. Sorry. It could have been good otherwise.
Needs to be properly edited. This book seemed too fast paced it needed more characterization and more of an understanding of who the main male leads are. I’m still confused so is one a cop? I didn’t quite get the “revealing” of professions.
Reverse Harem (no/only mention of ⚔️) MFMM Roommates Escaping/Healing from Domestic Abuse Abusive Ex Boyfriend Protective MMCs
Plot Emily wakes up a couple hours after her boyfriend, Jeff, beat her up for the first time. She immediately finds a craigslist ad for a room and packs a bag. Her new roommates are Chase, the serious and distant one, Tyler, the flirt, and Patton, the caretaker. Since she is very bruised they know pretty much immediately what roughly happened.
Some plotlines in this were kinda just abandoned a little... Like Emily suspects but just nothing ever comes of it. Same with Idk, super random to me, because within the story there was no buildup to this happening and also no payoff.
Some plot points were made into a secret when they really didn't need to be? I get into it later, but for example Tyler's and (especially) Chase's jobs were some big mystery when it really did not matter all that much Odd choice imo but oh well.
Characters Emily had been with her boyfriend for a while, and while he had been isolating her and being demanding, he laid hands on her now for the first time. Emily packs a bag and leaves asap. She is just happy to be living away from him, and at first, feels a little odd about living with three random guys, but they are kind enough that she settles in. When attraction between her and the guys begins she is torn, but she stands her ground. A bet over who gets to 'have' her? She shuts that down. She sets boundaries and communicates with them, no baseless miscommunication trope to be found. I didn't expect to, but I liked Emily. Personally, I have no experience with DV or know a whole lot about trauma responses, but I think it was handled pretty well. She had obvious doubts and understandable fears, was hesitant to fully trust, but also didn't need to be infantilized like many authors portray their abused fmcs.
Chase is the hottie (marked as a spoiler because it was treated as some big reveal even though it like... wasn't all that important?) and owns the house they all live in. While the other two are immediately drawn to her, he keeps his distance at first. Chase doesn't really want to be in this arrangement and essentially accepts that the only way he can have Emily is by sharing her, but his jealousy prevails and it makes for an odd dynamic at times.
Patton is a nurse, so he takes care of her injuries when she first arrives. He's the sweetheart, and I honestly don't have much more to say about him. He's a decent guy but doesn't do all that much.
Tyler is a (same as with Chase, I'll just mark it as a spoiler because apparently it was a big reveal too (idk)) and a giant flirt, with nudist tendencies. Tyler is the kind of guys who I guess can be fun in books but irl would be known as a weirdo in his friendgroup, tbh. He mentions being essentially a porn addict like three seperate, unprompted times. He acts like a horny 18 year old or smth... To me, that's an ick, but when he got his head out of the gutter he was fun enough.
Audio Granted, this was pretty much a 50/50 between reading and listening to it, but I really liked this narrator. Elizabeth Russell did a great job with portraying emotions and differentiating between male and female voices without forcing it to a ridiculous amount.
Conclusion A pretty standard Rh book, but I honestly enjoyed the dynamics more than expected. The men are respectful when it comes to her autonomy (there is one iffy moment with a bet as to who gets to 'have' her but she shuts that down real quick) and check in on her.

Who would you suggest this book to? anyone who wants a short and sweet contemporary novella and does not mind the trigger warnings below.
What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? spoilers As a whole, I liked it. I just didn't care for what happened to the abusive ex-boyfriend in the end. I think his punishment should have been more than just anger management counseling. (Sure, he did get shot but he deserved prison time.) I really liked Patton and Ty but didn't care that much for Chase. However, take my taste in love interest with a grain of salt because I am not a fan of the Bad Boy trope. The abuse sequence in the beginning was rough to read about but I'm glad she was strong enough to leave that situation. Overall if you're looking for a short reverse harem contemporary read then I highly suggest this one.

Emily used to have friends and a relationship with her mom but Jeff, her boyfriend, made that impossible. She wasn't aloud to work either. He was abusive one night and she ran while he was at work. She got ahold of someone who was willing to give her a room that night. When she got there Chase couldn't believe what was in front of him. She slept on the couch and the next morning Patton and Tyler made sure she was still alive and helped her. Being with them made her feel safe. When she was comfortable Jeff came back and ruined it. Will the guys be able to keep her or will she run again now that Jeff is back?
Emily is a survivor. She got out when many others don't. It was nice of Chase to let her stay. The first time the guys met her wasn't ideal but at least they were there to help her. Patton being a nurse was a good thing. Tyler being such a flirt was great. Chase told her he was in construction. I love how different the boys are. Not just with them being different people but when they're with her as well. The affection they show her is what she needs. The meeting with her mom was eye opening to the fact that a mom always knows. The gun range was different. The way there are possessive over her is incredible. The ending was needed. The epilogue was wonderful. I wish there was more points of view but other than that it wasn't bad at all.
This was a great book about a girl saving herself. Emily's boyfriend of x number of years beats her up and she gets out. She rents a room in a house with 3 men; all different personalities. Patton, Tyler, and Chase help Emily get her self confidence back, teaching her a few tricks along the way.
The backstory was a bit rushed (the abuse and move to the house with 3 men) and I don't think there was an appropriate amount of time for Emily to start having sex with 3 men, but she states very clearly (paraphrasing) "This was a decision I made for and about myself, the first in a long time."Good for Emily getting that gumption back and making decisions for herself that affected her and her body alone.
Overall, I thought the character and relationship development happened naturally and was not rushed. Unfortunately I did think the ending of the story felt rushed. I thought it was weird that 2 of 3 guys wouldn't tell Emily their professions, like it was a State Secret.
It was a short story but a satisfying read. I really enjoyed it.

***Trigger Warning ⚠️ this book has domestic violence in it and can be triggering for some ***
She leaves an abusive relationship in the middle of the night and moves right into a house with 3 men. (Not likely someone will let you move in at 2am having never met them before & after seeing your battered face just goes back to bed)
Her three roommates are all completely different from one another but they are also close friends so the house relationship starts to feel like a family. (The spice is good and the way it starts between her and the guys seems genuine and natural)
Out of everything in the thing I have the hardest thing believing is not her mom being okay with her new relationships (because of course anything is better then the one she had before) But it’s the fact she got that job out of the blue with the law firm!
There was your stereotypical climatic scenario at the end where her ex tried to get her back (*again this can be triggering for anyone who has experienced domestic abuse *)
Everything works out in the end and the book ends as they live happily ever after

What a story. The characters were great. I felt so sorry for Emily to be hurt by a, so call boyfriend was horrible. How much pain can a person go through? Then when Emily escaped from the monster (ex-boyfriend) that is when things changed for the better, Emily rang about the add in the paper, room for rent at 3am Chase answers the phone, Emily went over to the rental and that is when she met Chase, he was tired he had work so Emily fell asleep on the couch. When Emily woke up she had 2 males looking at her, that is when she met Tyler and Patton. Patton cleaned Emily up, he went over everything to make sure she didn't have broken bones. Thank you for this opportunity to review your book it was great.

Emily needs to flee an abusive relationship...like, right now, this very minute. But it's the middle of the night and no one advertising for a roommate is answering her calls. She is so thankful when finally Chase answers the phone. Doesn't matter that he's in a foul mood, I mean, it is 3 am, she's on her way there. One cab ride later and she's knocking on his door and then crashing on the couch. She wakes to the curious looks of the other two men who she'll be sharing a house with, Tyler and Patton. Feeling cared for and safe, Emily settles in with these 3 men, but how long will she stay that way? Great characters, great story and great writing that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I mainly gave it 4 stars rather than 3 because of the background plot with the ex-boyfriend. I thought the book dealt with her feelings about leaving him and her guilt with herself for how long it took to leave him pretty well. The stalking and everything added some good suspense to the plot.
The author does a great job bringing together a different story to the norm. The main female Emily has been in an abusive relationship and she eventually manages to escape from that. As with most abusive people he tracks her down and continues to harass and threaten her. Luckily for Emily, she has found three sweet guys who respect her and care for her. They all start a relationship, but it is centered on helping Emily rebuild her life and self-esteem. It’s very well written and the story flows nicely, the characters are, for the most part, likeable and it all made for a wonderful read. This book was about Em, Ty, Chase and Patton. Em literally escaped an abusive relationship and ran right to her future in the form of 3 honorable, protective, supportive new roommates. She fell for each man with their individual personalities. This was a book starting out with abuse if that is a trigger point, be forewarned. The story is about how the relationship between all 4 grows while dealing with the abusive ex. Although not while I'd call it "dark", it's not all sunshine and roses. I enjoyed the storyline

This was a good short steamy read. Though there were times that I felt it was a little short in favor of moving the story along. It was still a good read. If you're are looking for a short steamy reverse harem then this is the book for you. Following Em who is running away from an abusive relationship she finds a room to rent with three very different guys. Though you never really get a straight answer what Chase does it doesn't seem like a big deal. Patton aka Patty who is a nurse who is sweet, kind and affectionate, to the ever flirting Tyler. I loved the characters just wish the book was a little longer diving deeper I to each of the.guys and Emily.
Emily running from a bad relationship finds a haven in the home of Chase and his two friends. Their care for her well being makes Emily feel safe and wanted. Their relationship grows until the are are more than just friends but lovers as well. This book enthralled me, the men's strength of character I admired and their relationship one of strength and honesty, hard to fault. This is a book I would recommend to all lovers of romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining and enticing ménage romance. I don’t read a lot of ménage stories, but this one has made me a believer! The characters were all well developed and engaging. Emily is absolutely adorable and incredibly brave. Chase, Tyler and Patton are all deliciously different and sexy as hell. The story has depth and exciting content and some very interesting twists. I read this book in one sitting and and the ending left a smile on my face. Absolutely loved this book!

This was a good book. Em, chase, Tyler, and Patton are so sweet and so perfect for each other. I’m just kind of confused as to what chase’s job was? Patton is the caring one as the nurse, Tyler is the proverbial playboy as a stripper so it begs to wonder what chases was being as protective as he is. I loved the conflict though all the way around and I am so glad the guys didn’t take on the typical gender stereotype roles

Emily is in a bad situation and is left with very few options. Out of desperation, she calls a telephone number in the middle of the night for a new place to live. She finds out quickly that she has three very caring, unique and honorable male roommates. They have their secrets, their charms and their protectiveness nature regarding their new roommate. The storyline is gut-wrenching, filled with ups and downs, suspense, and passion. Great read!

Emily runs from an abusive boyfriend and finds herself the perfect place to live....with 3 hot, sexy, alpha guys Chase, Patton and Tyler. All was to help, all want to protect her, and they all want her. But are they willing to share. I like the fact guy had an individual relationship with Emily. Yes, sometimes they were all together, sometimes just 2 guys with her and sometimes just her and 1 guy. Fast paced, well written, fun read!!
This was a great book! If you are looking for something to read that's not a series RH, this is a book for you. While I do love series, sometimes you kinda need a one and done. The writing was great, you got to know the MC and her men and it didn't feel rushed. I do feel we could have gotten more background from her guys and a little more story but other than that I finished thos book satisfied with how it went.
I really like this book, showed a strong female who realized she had to get safe and leave an abusive man. She didn’t let herself get lost again in her new relationships and they didn’t let her feel like she had no control. Always giving to her and allowing her to give in return without pushing for more than she was ready for. Good storyline and really good character chemistries a good read an a great recommend!
She needed to get away from her past and it just happened she has moved in with three men. She find she wants to get to each of them in a very different way. They have her back no matter and she begins to hope they become so much more. Will she get all three? What if her past resurfaced? Will they keep her safe? See if they can

Good ménage read with an underlying domestic abuse theme. I loved the development and portrayal of the characters. The story was good, interesting, and very steamy. I feel that the problems with domestic violence were addressed well. Good read.

Leaving an abusive relationship is hard. Takes guts to walk away...girl has more balls than me to call people at 3 am to find a room...but she finds the perfect place...and her 3 roommates step up and will do whatever it takes to protect her from her ex. All while falling for her
I enjoyed this book. She had her own protectors and enjoyed it. They protected her when she needed it the most. Admirable qualities in a man. She really appreciated it and showed it her way. Overall good read.
