The explosive conclusion to The Marine Raider Trilogy!
"I love action and Harrison's books have it and then some. Very enjoyable reads." - SGM (R) Kyle Lamb, Author of Leadership in the Shadows, President of Viking Tactics, Delta Force
In the Heart of Darkness, Marine Raiders David Shaw and John Wyatt fight to survive in hellish captivity, forced to mine raw cobalt with their bare hands while suffering the violent attention of Gao Zan, the mine’s diabolical overseer. But finding an impossible ally, the two Raiders learn the secrets behind The Czar’s personal prison in which they labor and the unlimited global reach of his criminal cabal.
Refusing to give up on Shaw and Wyatt, Natalie Hale embarks on a relentless mission to rescue the two lost Marines. Leveraging allies from conflicting circles and walking a sharp line between right and wrong, the compulsion to save those dear to her just might drive her to the grave.
From the Congo to Malta, from Switzerland to the Baltic Sea, David Shaw and Natalie Hale trudge through the malignant underworld of the global, aristocratic elite to eliminate the menace that inexcusably targets family. As bullets fly and blood pools, Shaw and Natalie realize their training only goes so far and that this game has different rules.
Harrison is ardently committed to story and narrative, that a good narrative is driven by believable and compelling characters whose struggles are sincere, difficult, and meaningful. Story has spurred humanity into the greatest of endeavors, and valuable contribution is made to the larger human narrative with the telling of a good story.
Inspired by the great stories of Tolkien, Pressfield, Dumas, and others, Harrison strives to build on the foundation of humanity’s story to inspire to action, provoke to thought, and call to integrity all who choose to read his work. His gratitude to you is sincere and deep.
Harrison lives in Florida with his wife and two daughters.
Invictus is the conclusion to what was originally to be a trilogy but is now just the first main arc in an ongoing series, and it's another of those rare gems of indie publishing. If you enjoy dark and gritty, reality-based thrillers, or authors like Jack Carr, than Harrison Kone will be a must read. David Shaw, a Marine Raider whose sense of duty and loyalty ultimately draws him into a world of global espionage and crime, and mercenaries and terrorists, and politics and betrayal, is a compelling, grounded, and human protagonist, but he's also just one cog of an ensemble cast of diverse and richly developed characters. Harrison Kone is one of those rare authors who immerse you in both realistic and violent action scenes as well as the human drama, and readers will be happy that he decided to extend the series beyond the initial trilogy while maybe also hoping to see the Marine Raider universe expand to include novels staring characters like Roy Wyatt or Laila Malik. Harrison Kone is definitely a talented and underrated author who deserves more exposure. Go back to Saber Down and read the whole series today and await his new books .
Mr. Kone has developed an excellent read in his three volume David Shaw series . Each book can be a stand alone read, cohesive in plot, intrinsic details , and character development, filled with highly believable action , with the entire series bringing the reader to appreciate Mr. Kone's command of his craft . Highly enjoyable , anticipating to read more of his offerings in the hopefully near future.
It's always a delight when a book, and author, exceeds your expectations. Strong characters, intriguing plotting, and real human emotion places this series at the pinnacle of a lifetime of reading action fiction. Can't wait for book four and any other effort from this author.
