In her velvet-curtained railroad car parlor, fortune-teller Sophie Madrigal tells the fortunes of the curious--including Gabriel Caine, a bounty hunter on the trail of a murderer. When Gabriel offers his palm, Sophie feels compelled to reveal everything--almost. What Sophie does not divulge is that she, too, appears in his future and discovers the magic of love.
Sophie is traveling with her aunt Juniper and a Russian midget hunting Ivor Hartwick who killed her son. Gabriel Caine is also hunting Hartwick to take him back to Abilene to stand try for a different murder. Sophie is reckless and determined and almost gets her man a couple times. Gabriel is not only drawn to Sophie but determined to keep her from going to jail for murder. I enjoy this author but I felt this was a little drawn out. Others have been better.
