Cloudy With a Chance of Bad Decisions

Rate this book
If “bad decision” had a photo next to it in the dictionary, it would be of Alex Jones.

What’s better than attending your ex’s wedding? A camping trip in the woods, complete with bugs, critters, and sharing a tent with the hottest—and most infuriating—man alive. It’s basically a full itinerary of terrible decisions…
George:
When I came home for the first time in years, I was expecting a peaceful week celebrating my ex’s upcoming nuptials, some quality time with my overly enthusiastic mom, and a much-needed break from the dumpster fire that my life has become. Instead, I’ve been tricked into sharing a tent with Alex—the human equivalent of a smug smirk—who somehow manages to be both infuriating and alarmingly attractive. He pushes every button I have, knows exactly how to get under my skin, and worst of all… I think I want him to. Which is great, because nothing says “relaxing vacation” like emotional whiplash and unresolved sexual tension in a nylon sweatbox.

Alex:
I keep things casual. It’s easier that way. Safer than letting someone in and finding out—once again—that I’m not enough, or worse, that I’m too much. But George? He’s messing with my game plan. He’s uptight, prickly, and has made it painfully clear that he doesn’t like me. But there’s something in the way his eyes spark when we argue, something in his laugh and those quiet moments when we’re not at each other’s throats, that draws me in. The more time we spend together, the harder it is to ignore the pull between us. It terrifies me—because I want him, badly—but I can’t let him see the mess I’ve been hiding behind these walls. Not now. Not ever.

Cloudy With a Chance of Bad Decisions is a standalone MM romance with high heat, a HEA, and no cliffhangers. Includes a blossoming idiots-to-lovers romance between an insecure flirt and the adorably grumpy man his sister has decided to set him up with. Together these two are argumentative, snarky, and hot like fire. If you like funny stories with lots of banter, off the charts chemistry, hurt/comfort, graphic steam, and the slowest, sweetest of all burns then read on!

**Mild spoilers ahead**

I'm so fucking sorry to the people who recommended this to me 😭😭 I don't think I've ever felt more distressed/guilty at not enjoying a book before.
But I now know with 100% certainty that this authors writing is not for me.
The cover art is cool, the hype for this author is cool to see, but I just need to remember myself and pass next time.......

Now on to my feels..... Sorry in advance, fans, look away now
Romance books in my opinion NEVER need to be 590 pages long.... EVER.

I just can't get behind the long-winded nature of this writing.
EVIL VILLIANS WOULD HATE TO SEE THESE TWO MC'S COMING, BECAUSE THEY MUST BE THE FUCKING WORLD RECORD HOLDERS OF INNER MONOLOGING BECAUSE HOLY FUCK.

It took:
5 WHOLE PAGES(which was like 20 swipes on my kindle) to explain that he walked away from a snake....
The snake wasn't even attacking or chasing, snake homie was just chilling on a rock, and it took 5 whole pages of inner monologuing and thoughts to back 7 steps backwards...

4 WHOLE PAGES where the MC is watching the other one eat a smore. riveting stuff......

6 WHOLE PAGES OF FUCKING INNER MONOLOGUE AND OUT LOUD TALKING BETWEEN "I want to suck your cock" and ANY COCKS GOING IN ANY MOUTHS. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
If I had a boner at the start of this scene, it would have gone 100% flaccid by the time the sucking even began.

The writing finds 528405 ways to say the same sentence.
So it's repetitive af but technically not?
"I couldn't recall the last time I flirted and been shut down so goddamn efficiently"
"I'm used to people liking me"
"This was not a script I had memorized. Normally, by this point, I had people eating out of my hand"
"I don't know why it bothered me so much but it did. I was used to people liking me"
"He didn't respond to my flirting like most people did"
"He didn't fall for my charm"

YOU ARE SAYING THE SAME FKN THING MULTIPLE WAYS, WE GET IT, PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

AND IM SORRY, I UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S GREAT TO HAVE SMALL PENIS REPRESENTATION, NOT EVERYONE CAN HAVE A 12+ INCH THICK VEINY MAGESTIC INSIDE DESTROYING SHCLONG.... I GET THAT.........
BUT WHY IN THE SWEET FUCK ARE WE COMPARING IT TO A THUMB??????

My last point to touch on, I feel like instead of choosing say... 3 kinks and doing them amazingly well, this was like... An AK-47 filled with kinks, just fired at fucking random at every fucking page.
He's a dom now because he miraculously worked out George was a sub?
How and why though? We will never know.
He has a "wet pussy just like a girl" okay?
He was wearing panties on a bushwalk, just to like... show us that he's into lingerie, and they don't make another appearance the whole book because they got dirty.
Okay but why did we add them then?
Our MC is googling shibari one minute, and double penetrating during their first time the next, and then the mention of puppy play for like 2 seconds and one barking reference??? WHY?
The roleplay was not organic, yes they were learning eachother, but like... not every couple need to be into... EVERY SINGLE KINK THATS EVER BEEN INVENTED.
Chill out my guys, just fall in love nicely..
Everything felt so fucking random sometimes.

I'm so sorry my friends 😭😭😭
Please forgive me

Safety info, content warnings and tropes down below.

A contemporary romance with 634 pages? Yeah, I have to admit I was a bit scared, but not a single page was wasted in this book. I was heavily invested from the first to the very last page — and beyond. Even though the book doesn’t span long in terms of time, the progression of their relationship felt realistic and so very genuine. I love romances where I can wholeheartedly believe in the relationship, even with an epilogue that isn’t set too far in the future. That was definitely the case here.

There were so many funny moments: snarky banter between the MCs, hilarious — yet embarassing — interactions with family members (let’s just say everyone can hear you clapping cheeks in a tent), and so much more. I also swooned a lot. My gosh these guys were adorable and so good for and with each other. The whole thing played out like a movie in my head and it’s one of those rare books I wouldn’t have minded seeing made into an actual movie. Maybe without the spice though, because it would’ve been hella R rated. I have come to learn that Fae Quin is one of the best in the genre when it comes to writing spice. These characters have buckets of chemistry and it definitely translated to the… tent.

You get a lot of pages to prepare for the inevitable heartbreak and tears, but sadly (not really) those pages are also used to make you fall head over heels in love with the characters, so the preparation doesn’t actually help and you get kicked in the metaphorical nutsack of emotion. If you’re anything like me, you’ll have to blow your nose 3+ times from all the snot.

Okay, I’ve probably gushed enough now, you get the point. They have amazing chemistry, and you get to see the characters go from antagonizing each other and somewhat mutual animosity, to falling so hard for each other, all in a way that feels realistic. Both of them have past trauma and insecurities that makes things less than easy, but they work through it in a way that felt believable.

If this book was paranormal, George and Alex would have been fated mates.

Stop it, heart, you traitorous whore.

5 stars, highly recommend. Thank you to the author for the ARC copy.

It was taking every ounce of my self-control not to squish his cheeks and smooch the hell out of his grumpy little face.

He looked at me the same way I’d just been staring at the stars. Like I was something worth admiring.

“I thought it was my fault. That I wasn’t worth the effort? Or maybe it was just normal to feel lonely, even when you were with someone.”

“Like any adult with anxiety I spend a lot of my free time watching Planet Earth.”

I’d never desired another person so much that the brush of their lips made me feel like I was shaking apart.

“You have a crush on me?” I teased, butterflies swarming in my belly. The look Alex gave me was flat as hell. “How embarrassing for you.” “Shut the fuck up,” Alex laughed, smooching me longer this time.

DNF @ 30%

No rating.

When Fae Quin's work is a win, it's a big win. But when it's not, it's unbearable.

I reached 200 pages and realized I was only at 30%.

The first third of the book is filled with the MCs taunting each other, or, to be specific, Alex acting like an absolute fuckhead and George getting his knickers in a twist over every damn thing.

So many secondary characters clog up the plot. George's ex-boyfriend is marrying Alex's twin sister. And I'm supposed to care because?

The entire story is focused on the wedding and obnoxious family dynamics. The internal monologues go on for page after page after fucking page. It's all so repetitive and tedious.

This book is nearly 9,000 (!!!) Kindle locations; sorry, but no romance needs to be that long. I mean, Anna Karenina isn't much longer. And Quin is not Leo Tolstoy.

I gave up from utter boredom and frustration. Maybe the story takes a surprising turn, and I'm missing out; maybe not. You tell me.

I will happily admit that contemporary romcoms are not a genre that tends to reliably work for me, however, that being said, I FUCKING LOVED THE SHIT OUT OF THIS! COMPLETELY OBSESSED. EVERY TOUCH, SMOOCH AND EMOTIONAL MOMENT WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.

George is returning to his hometown in Ohio for the first time in 8 years, for the wedding of his childhood sweetheart. George finds himself burnt out after the end of an 8 year relationship with his abusive ex, who is also his direct manager at work, and continuing to make his life hell. George's well-meaning family decide the best way to cheer him up is to play matchmaker between him and Alex, the handsome, commitmentphobic, twin brother of the Bride-to-be. After the world's most awkward meet-cute, antagonistic sparks fly between Alex and George, however, it's not long before the undeniable attraction between them grows and they acknowledge the potential for something more flirty to grow. Alex proposes that they enter into a pretend boyfriend arrangement so George has the opportunity to get a taste of what it's like to be treated well in a healthy relationship and Alex gets to spoil a partner without the strings of a relationship with commitment.

ABSOLUTELY NO WAY ANYONE CAN FORSEE THIS FULL PROOF PLAN GOING WRONG? TEHEHEHE.

I am completely obsessed with the chemistry between George and Alex, very sassy black cat and flirty golden retriever energy, except they are both sharp to the touch with defensive barriers and heavy emotional history that they need to navigate. The slow burn emotional intimacy between these two was devine and I gobbled up every crumb.

I didn't bother to read the blurb before wandering in to this and so as a result I was completely blindsided by the spice. Don't get me wrong, I expected a bit of spice.... But when the book warns it's high heat, I didn't realise that they meant THE SURFACE OF THE SUN. I'll admit that not every kink explored here were kinks I normally enjoy or gravitate towards but the execution and emotional connection underpinning the scenes meant that I still loved this book as a whole and especially Alex and George together. Also! Responsible and sexy use of safe words and communication 🎉 love to see it.

Considering this was a romance that clocked in at 600ish pages I would not change a single scene (also hoorah, no third act break up). I had a phenomenal time and not only will this be a fave of the year for me, it's now the top dog to beat for my favourite contemporary romcom ever. ALEX AND GEORGE'S HEA LITERALLY MADE ME CRY HAPPY TEARS. I appreciate that everyone has different tastes, but this is a book I'll accept no criticisms of. Please and Thank you ❤️ (jks I'll love you all regardless)

(how much love do we have to throw Quins way to get a sequel with Joe and his farm full of animals in Vermont and his own sexy love interest????)

And for the first time in almost a decade, I let myself be naive. I let the romantic in me awaken. I let the young man who’d been crushed by disappointment again and again break free from the walls where I’d shackled him.

For this one perfect morning, I let myself believe that there was nothing wrong with dreaming of happy endings.

The romantic in me could die tomorrow. But today, I’d let him live.

✨✨Slight Spoilers for content warning and kinks✨✨
BDSM, come play, slight exhibitionism, light feminization, praise kinks, DP, bondage, breeding kink, light breath play, role play and probably more that I can't remember 😂😂

Please also note that there is mentions of off page historical abusive relationships, eating disorders and body dysmorphia.

GAAAH THIS WAS AMAZING!

This book had so many elements that tickle my fancies:
An extremely hilarious meet-cute, forced proximity, ‘just one tent’, antagonists-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, so much snark and banter, sexual tension so thick you could slice it with a camping spork, and characters who made me want to climb inside the pages and never leave.

We’ve got Alex, the sunshiney, praise-giving, possessive, adorable menace who sometimes can’t handle his affection and resolves to cute aggression and ‘ohmygodhessocuteIwanttobitehim’ moments. And George, our beautifully clingy disaster with the cutest grimple (grumpy dimple) who has a gooey center and the vulnerability of a stray cat that’s just learning how to be loved. Their dynamic was just. So. Freaking. GOOD!

I adored the whole “practice dating” setup, which was really just an excuse for them to be soft, smitten idiots around each other. There was so much affection in this book - praise, physical closeness, tiny gestures that screamed I love you even if I don’t know it yet. And I loooooved the kink in this and all the care the author clearly took constructing those scenes. It never felt gratuitous, just hot (jeeeez, so hot) and intimate. ❤️‍🔥

(But my LORD, it was kinky, so check the kink and content warnings the author provides on her website to make sure you’re up for… all that)

The setting was immersive as hell (give me all the summer woods and chaotic family energy), the side characters were amazing (Alex’ dad and George’s mum especially 🥹), and the emotional beats hit so damn well. Both Alex and George are insecure in their own ways because of disastrous past relationships, but the way they soothe and challenge each other was just so freaking precious.

Honestly, I could’ve read a 100 more pages of these two being in love and stupid about it. And that’s saying something because this book is a WHOPPER with close to 600 pages already.

My one critique would be that the book kept telling me Alex was “too much,” but I didn’t really see it. Like, at all. He was nothing but delightful?!

Anyway, this was such a fantastic summer read. Hilarious, heartfelt, hot as hell, packed with so much joy and all the big romantic feelings and - ofc - Apology Pickles™.

I was genuinely sad to say goodbye to this book but it left my face sore from smiling 🥰

Ahhhh this was soooo good! 🤩 THE KINKY MEATBALL BOOK (as it will forever be known to me) 🤣 Thank you for that, Evie 🫶🏻

In my mind, I had this really fun review planned, but my brain isn't braining today. I've been trying for three days to write a good review, and I think it's time to admit that's just not happening. Maybe I can make it up on re-read 😂

For now, I will say that this was fun in all the right ways. I loved George and Alex together! They had great chemistry and a lovely enemies to fake boyfriends to lovers arc. I thought the relationship development and spice were a great mix too. There were tons of cute moments that left me grinning from ear to ear 🥰

The kink was fun too, though I was surprised about a few things there, but I won't spoil. I'll just say the size difference wasn't what I expected 😆 I will say I was a bit disappointed that George's love for lingerie didn't play a bigger part in the story. It was mentioned very early on and then kind of went nowhere. Totally missed opportunity imo 😭

Sooooo why the 4* and not 5* if I loved it so much? The length, mainly. The book was overly long for sure. I wouldn't say I found myself bored per se, but it felt like a bit of a slog at times. I think a solid 100+ pages could have been cut and the story wouldn't have suffered. Also, the epilogue felt a bit all over the place, and I wanted a bit more there. Otherwise, this was a lovely read that left me with a big smile on my face. Thanks to everyone, especially Evie, for hyping this up and encouraging me to read it. I had a blast! 💙

This was disgustingly romantic — I loved it.
Who knew a dildo meet-cute could turn into a great love story? 🍆

“You’re so adorable when you’re mad,” Alex whispered, quiet enough only I heard. “You know that right? Makes me crazy.”

I ADORED Alex and his big puppy chaotic energy, his protectiveness and gentleness, his hot AF Dom awakening. So sunshine-y, but also insecure and hurt and just wants someone who loves all of him. He also has a huge d—

George loved sad songs. A fact that I found incredibly charming. “I just like to feel something, you know?”

And George. George is me. Black cat personality, a ball of anxiety and worry, loves sad songs and pickles, terribly unlucky. So grumpy, but just wants someone to love him for him, someone to think he’s enough.

“You’re so pretty when you’re in charge,” Alex promised against my ear. “Such a pretty, pretty kitty.”

For how sweet and romantic the storyline is, the kinks were unexpected but a very nice surprise.
Alex’s dirty talk? Top notch.
How safe they felt with each other? So sweet.
The size difference? Why is that so hot??

“And maybe… if you’re my very good boy again…” Another shudder, and a gasp. “I’ll stuff that pretty pink pussy nice and full, just the way you like.”

I wouldn’t have minded some more of that kinky puppy play, because if anyone ever was a puppy it’s definitely Alex.

George tasted like sunshine, happiness, and peace.

A loving romance, a meddling family, fun banter and funny moments, not-really-enemies to temporary-boyfriends to forever, cute dates, lots of emotions — this was pretty perfect.

Why couldn’t I keep him?

I’ve made it to 52% and I just am losing interest. The book is a bit messy and just so drawn out. The first sexual encounter comes and all of a sudden there is something we learn about George that kind of came out of nowhere. I just wish the book was faster paced, I would probably stick with it.

I also am tired of the over the top characters, especially when they are also the females. The big hair, big dresses, big personality. On the other hand the men are more repressed. George cannot even be seen hugging his mother in front of his brother. It’s all too much and I’ve lost interest.

Oh, and 3 inches??? I did not understand the logic. Everything was thrown at the reader and it seemed as if it was for shock value.

It took me 3 months to decide to write this because by the time I finished all 600 pages, I was utterly done. It is pretty much kink bingo, every kink imaginable gets tossed in for a few lines, with zero time spent establishing it or making it feel genuine. One minute it’s DP in long socks, to praise kink, breath play, then lots of wet pussy/cunt talk, a quick shibari google then size kink, role play, puppy play, breeding kink, lingerie hint that never went anywhere, does he genuinely have a tiny thumb sized penis or is it humiliation kink?? and then D/s comes out of nowhere. I love me some kinky times but I prefer less of a superficial attempt and to actually explore it instead of just throw in a random teaser.

I found the repetition to be too much. I don’t need to hear about that dildo OR the apology pickles ever again. Entire pages are wasted on tiny, pointless scenes, like five pages of staring at a harmless snake in the woods or what felt like a whole chapter setting up a tent. Add in endless, meandering internal monologues that recycle the same thoughts over and over, way too much cringey family time and the whole thing became a slog that desperately needed a heavy edit.

I would have connected with the characters if I didn’t have to read 12 pages about them eating s’mores and everything about them described in such lengthy detail. I was glad the one coming from an abusive relationship got a happy ending. But the final “resolution” scene felt completely out of character and left me more exasperated than anything.

I did like parts of this and would have found it to be a decent book at half the length, with a tighter edit, focused characters, and maybe one or two properly developed kinks instead of the whole catalogue. I really tossed up between giving this 2 or 3 stars for the longest time.

Im sorry I didn’t love this 😌 and part of the reason I held off reviewing was because so many friends have loved it so I’m sorry. Honestly, buddy reading it with Chelsea is the only reason I didn’t DNF.

Cloudy With a Chance of Bad Decisions was filled with so many amazing tropes and all the feels! I laughed, I cried, I swooned, it was everything! It's a slow burn, but once things take off, it's steamy as F! Not to mention so sweet. Alex and George are just so perfect for each other, but both have been burned and are reluctant to move forward, but with the help of their meddling, awesome family, they can't help but get their much deserved HEA. I loved them and this book so much. Lots of fun shenanigans, definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this book overall. There were so many cute and funny moments and lots of good banter between George and Alex. I loved all the family stuff and the wedding background. I loved Mr. Pickles. And I also hate Brendon.

I enjoyed this book right from the start and I loved all the snark. You could feel the attraction and tension between the two MCs. Alex and George make such a lovely couple.

I did think towards the end that the story was getting a bit redundant with some of the internal monologues. I think this would have benefited from being a bit shorter as well.

My last little complaint is that Georgie was into wearing lingerie and there was never a scene with that, which felt like a missed opportunity to me.

I'm looking forward to Joe's book.

i usually love this author’s contemporary books, but this one isn’t as good as the others.
overall, i enjoyed it, however there were a few issues.
one, it’s too long. those internal monologues were way too long and repetitive. we really didn’t need all of them.
two, and i’ll do my best to explain it without spoilers, our characters have some trauma, but it hardly ever comes up because “this week is different”. which, whatever, okay. but can we either explore that trauma or delete it from the book? like it was an issue that the author told us about. we hardly ever got to see it.
and it’s a shame, because i love issues.

i am super excited for joe’s book

Mixed feelings. It started with a bang, but by 30% I was heavily skimming. It was just SO long and there was so much inner monologue. You could cut this book in half and keep the same story. Also, D/s is not for me, my bad for not checking TWs.

This book encapsulates everything I adore about Fae Quin’s writing... heartwarming, exhilarating, and utterly immersive. It’s brimming with tender moments that made me giddy and caretaking that gave me butterflies. Silly awkwardly adorable moments that made it difficult to stop smiling and sexy moments that made it impossible to put down. And the laugh out loud bits that made every bit of this book 100% the Fae Quin writing that I know and love! This story delivered exactly the charm and depth I’ve come to cherish from her writing.

When I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about it. Simultaneously excited to get to the end of the book and not wanting it to be over. And now I'm sad that I'm finished, writing this review with puffy eyes (from crying) and feeling drained from just so much emotion. This is going to be one of those books that lives in my soul, a part of my DNA, my entire personality!

I knew in the first pages that this was not going to be a good book. The main character sounded whiny. The best friend was written as wacky which came off as intrusive. The scene with the dildo flying out of the backpack was more forced wackiness. I knew the chance of mature, adult dialogue as the story went on was low as were my expectations of a serious romance.

This was absolutely adorably filthy in the best way!

George and Alex don't quite get off on the right foot - but thankfully they have almost 600 pages to change that 😉

But don't worry - it doesn't take very long after their initial butting of heads for apologies to be made and for things to change between them for the better.

George is a lot like how he's described in this book. A cat. A grumpy, but underneath it all soft hearted cutie who has been hurt in the past and is scared to get hurt again.

Alex is scared of being too much for people. So while he's a romantic at heart, he's in a "I don't do relationships" mindset because he's been hurt in the past himself. He himself is...well, like a dog at heart. Overeager and only too happy to smother you with affection.

The fact that Alex calls George kitten in this (among other things) and they do some light puppy play - not even full on, so don't worry if that's not your thing. It's not mine either and it worked for me - with George calling Alex a puppy is just too spot on. These two are like a cat and a dog in human form, falling in love with each other.

But they soon realize after their initial clash that they got along amazingly, and while they and their families are up in the woods at cabins and tents for a week long, let's say...event leading up to Alex's sister's wedding, they become increasingly glued at the hip as they fall deeply in love.

The timeline would feel way too fast, if they didn't spend all that time together, every day of the week and if we didn't spend so much time with them ourselves as the readers. A week passes in their lives, but we get almost 600 pages of that week.

Plus, George, ever the practical person, has them go a bit slower by the end when they've declared their love and want to be together. So they take a bit of a breath after that one week to not just dive headfirst into everything (even though we can tell they're dying to.)

This might have taken me a while to read, but not because it was slow or anything, just because it was long and it was a lot to read. And don't get me wrong, I love these types of books, getting all the romance and beautiful sex scenes and getting SO much of our main couple, it's like a big 'ol meal.

But like with a big meal, I just needed breaks here and there to catch my breath and dive back in. And following their activities day to day is a lot, and a tall order. Which this author did beautifully, it's just...well, yeah, a lot and I needed some quick breaks here and there.

I didn't penalize the book because it was just more of a me thing while reading such a mammoth book.

I absolutely adored this and couldn't get enough of it. Georgie and Alex were amazing together and I couldn't get enough of them. The ways this author formed a connection and bond and love between them was amazing to see. The things they said and did for each other was amazing.

And their meddling families getting involved was funny and heartwarming at the same time.

If ever there was a successful matchmaking scheme, it was this one - and yes, their families (June, Alex's sister and George's mother especially) totally set them up with each other in the hopes they'd make each other indescribably happy. And their hopes came true!

Also the sex in this was *chefs kiss* amazing. Alex is...well, quite well endowed and our Georgie is quite the size queen. He himself was...quite small, but Alex didn't mind at all as an exclusive top, and George was an exclusive bottom. I loved that, and it totally fit them that they were.

But I also loved that they played around with the Dom/sub role that they got into as they started forming a sexual relationship. They're both into it and Alex is primarily the Dom, but in one scene we get George being a bit of a Dom and Alex being the sub, in a different way than the roles reversed. But George is still the bottom. I like that, them playing with their dynamic even as their sexual positions stay the same.

Ultimately Alex was more the Dom and that felt right, but sometimes in their relationship George will be Dominant too. So this is letting you guys know that they might switch on BDSM roles but they don't switch their sexual positions.

Their ending was absolutely so sweet and adorable and lovely. They almost walk way from each other, but like the best rom-com ending you could imagine, they get their heads out of their asses a bit too late, but not too too late, and have an epic love confessions scene.

The epilogue was beautiful too, seeing these two settle into a real relationship and being so damn happy with each other, as they get to know each other more and more.

I absolutely recommend this, this was on par with this author's Christmas stories, perhaps even better than some of them. But I can't wait for Joe, George's brother, to go to Vermont and get his own love story next.

Until then! 😘

Whyyyy did this have to end so soon? I know this book has over 500 pages (almost 600, actually- don't look at me like that), but I need more. What the hell did the author do- put crack in it??

And look, I know this isn't exactly what I usually read. I tend to prefer my books to be as angsty as possible, thank you very much. But this was so. Good. Absolutely no way I could've gotten bored reading this. The tension and chemistry between the two mains was seriously off the charts. Their banter was so damn funny! You should have seen me giggling around like a lunatic the whole time. And have I mentioned how adorable they were together?? Just take my five stars, god damn it.

And don't get me started on the side characters- like, where can I sign up for the We Hate Brendon Club? They were having such a good time! Everything about the characters (and the setting, let's not forget about that) felt so homey and comforting, I don't really know how to describe it.

To my surprise, this was also the first time I'd ever read about a character having a BL manga collection in this kind of book. Same, George, same. Although mine probably pales in comparison to his- which makes this even more hilarious. This book was just so much fun!

And by the way, I hope we all agree that the real MVP here was Neil-the-dildo. May he rest in peace. He's literally sleeping with the fishes.

I didn’t hate it!!
I have mix feelings regarding this book🤔
I certainly love Alex and George. Their chemistry was so good😘….. really comforting.
BUT I really want more than just romance. The plot was all green and nice without any SPARK.
The plot felt like watching a beautiful night sky in a calm environment but I really miss the fireworks.😞 the writer did spice up the scenes with lots of unnecessary smut but the plot was majorly lacking in drama as per the my fiction standards.
If as a reader u r looking for some soft and fun romance, then this book is good fit for u.
But holistically it’s an average read for me.

I am choosing to ignore the minor annoyances of heteronormativity, wildly inappropriate first penetrative sex scene, and other issues I had because this was an absolute treat! The humour, the chemistry, the romance, the chemistry, the chemistry, oh and the romance was fantastic.

I haven’t read a book in a while that nailed the romance and chemistry so well. I LOVED the beginning. I had all the big feelings and I laughed many times. I really liked both characters, flaws and all. They were very well-fleshed out and lovable. The side characters were great, the romance was swoony, and my attention was held for 600ish pages of a contemporary romance. Can’t complain!

2.5 stars, generously rounded up because of that one scene at nearly the end.

It's fucking long. It's fucking messy. However, I liked both MCs enough to want to see them both realize that their relationship went from practice to the real thing.

Also, the author harping on George's "tiny dick" repeatedly ad nauseam cost this book at least a star. The constant mentioning of how small George's wiener is got super tiresome, and I rolled my eyes every time it was mentioned. Why was this a thing, anyway? Why was it necessary? What did the author hope to accomplish with this? Just as a contrast to Nine-Inch-Neil and Alex's massive endowment? Please. That was ridiculous.

And I didn't care too much about the meddling family either. Meh. Not my favorite book by this author.

YMMV.

Toooooooooo loooooooong!

Let me start by saying that Fae Quin is one of my all time favorite authors. However, even the best have bad days. I had to DNF this book at 51%. I tried, I really did. It was just so long and full of never ending internal monologues. The meddling family twist had a ton of potential but there were way too many secondary characters with deep ties to the two MMC’s to keep track of. George and Alex have potential, they are just boring on the page. Their banter is cute but super repetitive, so it gets old fast. The BDSM spicy twist had me intrigued but I never got there, I just could not keep reading the same internal conversation over and over again. At 51% the plot had only mildly advanced. It has the potential to be a great book with a lot of editing and at least 200 pages less.

ADORE.
I'm full of warm fuzzies.

I want to read more bedroom antics pls. pls.pls.

This book is utter perfection - it has everything and more. The intensity of the smut took me by surprise after such a witty, slow and sensual build up but omg did I love it - HELL YES.

note. Dutchess is the best fucking pet name ever. I gagged at Georgie's yaoi collection - a kindred spirit

Hear me out- an objectively perfect romance book (contemporary) should be between 250 to 400 pages. Anything more than that, and it's just pushing it because unless you have an obscene amount of drama in your life, there's no need for all those words. This book? It is an exception.

This was so cute. It was wholesome upon wholesome upon wholesome, and then a healthy dose of spice, and ends on a wholesome note as well. The drama is minimal. The two MCs are adorable and all over each other. They are snarky and love The lord of the Rings and are afraid of commitment unless it is with each other.

The almost 600 pages of this book flew by so fast, not that I am complaining. I mean, just a little bit, but only because I wanted to read so much more about these two. Their 'meet-cute' is something I will always remember; it involves a rather substantial 'toy' being thrown into the air (happens to the best of us ) at an airport.

Alex, one of our MCs then makes it his life goal to flirt with George for the rest of the flight. George is having none of it. But some forced proximity and meddling families later- lo and behold. They are together and so adorable that it made my heart burst.

Bottom line- a very healthy and soft book but somehow still managing to be hot. Best of all worlds.

2.5 stars, but rounding up for smut reasons. If this book was 250 pages shorter it would have been 10x better. A Summer romp that takes place entirely over the span of a week has no business being almost 600 pages long. It was really almost a DNF situation for me. The author made a conscious decision to interject endless internal naval-gazing monologue into every single interaction. Couldn't even get through a sex scene without some unnecessary exposition about past trauma, and it was so repetitive too. It really spoiled the vibe. Where was the editor?

Anyway, the story is about George and Alex. George being an uptight grump living in New York who comes home to Ohio for his high school boyfriend's wedding (which involves a week-long camping trip for the wedding party - my actual version of hell). On said trip he is set up with Alex, gorgeous brother to the bride who for some inexplicable reason is immediately obsessed with George. First strike - the family meddling. It is my most hated trope in all of romancedom, I cannot stand interfering friends/family and half of this book is that. Second strike is that George was not a likeable character. We are told about an abusive past relationship, and that goes a little towards explaining him, but he was kind of pathetic, so other than pure physical attraction, I couldn't understand why Alex was so intense about him. Alex infantalized George A LOT as well. The amount of times a grown-ass man is referred to as 'cute' was frankly sickening.

It also has this like Summer-camp quality where everything is intensified by the deadline of them parting ways, which I think was kind of the point, but the romance felt kind of forced to be honest, and things escalate super duper quickly in real time (although in book time it felt like years because it so fucking looooong). The one saving grace of this book is the smut. Page-wise, it takes a while to get there, but the second half of this book is filled with all kinds of fun filth, and I was there for it.

If this is how Fae Quin write smut, I am in, they're really not a bad writer at all. But this book could really have used a better editorial eye to cut out all the repetitive over-explaining and internal monologuing, it made what could have been a light, fun, sexy romance into something a lot more plodding and hard to read.

Tropes / tags: forced proximity, hurt / comfort, kink

There was so much to love about this one! Alex and Georgie were so sweet together and they had me swooning and smiling a lot!

Things were not exactly off to a good start for Alex and Georgie, as they had one of the most awkward meet-cutes ever and Georgie was pretty resistant to Alex's natural charm at first. The banter and snark was top tier here, and I loved the grumpy / sunshine vibes. Add in some meddling family, forced proximity, apology pickles and a fake relationship suggestion, and it didn't take Georgie that long to warm up to Alex.

They both had some baggage and insecurities, and the hurt / comfort between them was very sweet and supportive. Alex was such a gentle and protective character, and I loved how he took care of and spoiled Georgie. Seeing them feeling safe with each other and slowly falling in love during their "fake" relationship was adorable and very swoon-worthy!

Their story had a lot of great tropes, and I really enjoyed this one. Alex and Georgie had a ton of chemistry, and their slow burn was full of tension and flirting. Once things took off between them the steam was set to high and I loved their dynamic. Alex having a bit of a Dom awakening was very hot as well, and it led to some steamy scenes with great dirty talk and a bit of kink.

Cloudy with a Chance of Bad Decisions was a very cute read with a lot of humour and snark! Alex and Georgie might have seemed like a terrible match at first, but ended up being utterly perfect for each other. I highly recommend this one - I just adored these two and Fae Quin definitely brought all of the feels into their story!

I received an advanced copy of this book, and these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

3.5🌶️

I loved everything about Alex and Georgie. First of all, their dildo meet-cute come the fork on, that was adorable and quite hilarious. The banter between Alex and Georgie was everything. Add in the apology pickles, snake wrangling, pilfered picnic, boathouse shenanigans and friendship bracelet goodness and it was heaven. I felt like I was floating on a teeny tiny cloud the entire time I was reading them.

Alex is the definition of an excitable puppy and Georgie is literally a stray cat. In the words of Alex -- "He was like… a stray cat. You had to feed it treats from a distance for a while before coaxing it forward." However, they were so vulnerable with each other, so open and honest. Those quiet moments when they let their walls fall and the mask disappear were my absolute favorite.

The spice in this book sent me into the stratosphere. Alex, jfc everyone, and I mean everyone needs to find themselves an Alex. Alex & Georgie were deliciously hot. It's a slow burn but when it ignites it freaking SCORCHES. I don't think I've recovered from the shower scene. Literally, replaying in my mind 24/7.

This baby was 600+ pages and yet it was not enough. I could read these two forever and it still wouldn't be enough. This has to be my favorite book Fae has ever written and I didn't think anyone could come close to my Mutt from Hunt Me! I Crave the Chase. If this book was a bad decision, I don't ever want to make a good decision again.
