Lisa Black never expected an easy life on the frontier, but she never imagined it would become a nightmare. Two years after her husband vanished, she’s left to fend for her sister and son, Will, in a town that mistrusts her. When ruthless outlaws abduct Will, she has no choice… she must fight to bring him home, no matter the cost.
Sheriff Jack Holden has seen lawlessness, but Lisa is a challenge of a different kind. Her missing husband once betrayed him, and Jack has sworn to keep his heart locked away. Yet as they ride together, Lisa’s fierce determination stirs something long buried in him. Duty says he must protect her, but his heart whispers another far more dangerous truth.
Together, Lisa and Jack hunt the Steel Reapers through desolate canyons and lawless towns, uncovering a web of stolen children and ruthless vengeance. As gunfights erupt and betrayal looms, their connection deepens with every stolen glance. But with Will’s life on the line, can they outwit the outlaws and save him before it's too late?
"A Sheriff’s Oath to the Widow" is a historical romance novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Great story-line and plenty of action. The characters are so well-developed that you actually feel the emotions they are experiencing. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I have come to expect good, clean books from this author and this time I was disappointed. Not only was there some cursing in this book but Lisa's announcement on her wedding day was also a disappointment.
Through Shields' words, I could feel the warmth, terror, trepidation and love of this heartfelt romance. Left me wanting more western romsnce...can't wait.
