She’s chasing a fugitive. Now they’re both running for their lives.
Bounty hunter Violet doesn’t want to hear sob stories—she just brings her skips in, collects her money, and moves on to the next. So when her latest target, Wick Hughs, swears he’s innocent of the multi-million-dollar securities fraud being pinned on him, she doesn’t care. He ran, and now it’s her job to drag him back. Case closed. No mater how convincing—or attractive—he might be.
But the job takes an unexpected turn when Wick’s former company send hit men to kill him before he can expose their tangled web of crime. And now Violet is caught in the crossfire.
When the mission sends them deep in the Amazon rainforest, Vi has two options—trust Wick, or die.
With deadly wildlife, perilous surroundings, and relentless assassins nipping at their heels, Violet and Wick must fight to survive long enough to uncover the truth.
The real danger, though, might not be the jungle or the men hunting them down—it might be the explosive attraction growing between the two of them…
Jessica Gadziala is a USA Today bestselling author who lives in rural New Jersey with her parrots, dogs, and an ever-growing collection of houseplants. A lifelong dreamer, she’s been writing stories since childhood and published her first book in 2015. When not at her desk, she’s usually feeding backyard birds, rewatching crime dramas, period pieces, and 90s supernatural TV shows, or adding to her towering stacks of unread books.
"She’s chasing a fugitive. Now they’re both running for their lives."
This book is even for Jessica, and her endless ideas, something else. I'm used to Jessica's different badass heroines and alpha heroes who try to save their women, partly from themselves, but this book is an explosion of action, drama, and survival adventure in the jungle.
I loved every second of this power-loaded story. I love the chemistry between the characters and their journey back to their new lives and to each other.
I don't know why I'm still surprised that Jessica, after all these years and hundreds of books, can still surprise me (yes, I've read all of her books). Jessica is and will always be my unicorn author.
Her books are just what the romantic lover's heart needs.💓
This book is a must-read for all romance lovers. Read this book, you'll love it 🥰😍🥰
A book that starts with “I just wanted a decent cup of coffee” as the first sentence is like the poster child for my life.
Same girl, same.
Maybe still hot and not, mommy had to microwave it three times already, too.
The cup of coffee need, and often failure to get, is where my life and Violet’s go our separate ways though. Except maybe her attitude, we have that in common a lot too.
Vi is the perfect combination of Navesink Princess trained for all situations and vulnerable to make the experience of running for your life in an unknown rainforest real and relatable. While some parts were laughable, hello tarantulas with elbows, it didn’t feel campy.
Wick was different than I expected, in a good way. So, so, so patient with Vi and environmentally conscious without sounding like he rode a high horse about it. He was well researched about the area he planned to travel as well as well packed enough to show how intelligent he was. This did not include however being so conveniently well-packed that they had a Mary Poppins bag of goodies to cover every problem as if by magic. The element of realism was appreciated in my opinion.
I’m not 100% convinced sex in a hammock works that well, but I’m guessing that’s because of personal problems with keeping a hammock steady and lack of stretching on my part and less about actual hammock sex….but now maybe I’m willing to go buy a hammock for research purposes…
I truly loved seeing glimpses of beloved people in Vi’s circle and can’t wait to see who falls in love next.
As always Jessie can be relied upon for nothing cringy, no other woman drama/cheating, and an epilogue that doesn’t leave you feeling like it wasn’t enough.
Amazing as always. What more is there even to say? I read each and every book by this author and will continue to do so for as long as she puts them out.
What a treat. Instead of Navesink Bank we get the Amazon Jungle.. By the time I was done I had Creedence Clearwater Revival songs on the brain, Run through the Jungle and Who'll Stop the Rain. There are also tons of bugs and animals I will NOT be looking up. I am with Violet on bug phobias (cringe).
I loved this book giving us a totally new location, the humor was off the charts along with the romance while in peril running for their lives.
I have been WAITING for Violets story for what felt like a lifetime. It wasn't.. BUT.. it felt like it. Just like her daddy Adler, Violet left a mark on you the minute her character came to life. Lord, was it better than I anticipated.
Violet is snarky, too independent, a workaholic, and coach surfer with a love of tacos and extra coffee super creamy and sweet. She gets bedazzled over cute frogs with cheeks and will throw anyone at the crazy huge bugs in the forest to save herself. She isn't morally arrogant. She's realistic, relatable, and thinks for herself.
Wick is not entirely a surprise but more than I'd hope for. He's funny, charismatic, and real. He pushed Violet in ways she needed but also was sweet and attentive in ways that surprised her. He's was all man. Had the gift of the gods. All the banter and sass and just the right amount of dirty. Plus, the man cared about the planet. What's not to love.
These two made a fine balance of sarcasm, sweet and outrageously hilarious. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, they could not resist one another and I believed every minute of it. The chemistry was INSANE. The hammock?!!! Excuse me. The banter and bickering.. I laughed so hard. Oh and guest appearances from Adler and Lou?! Just yes. Now I'm excited about which princess is next. LOVED IT.
Chasing Paradise, yes please! Between the adventure, spice, warm moments, drama, excitement and creatures of all kinds, this book leaves nothing out! Violet is a bounty hunter (she takes after her mom Lou). While on a bounty, she travels to places and sees things she may never have. Wick is being chaeed by the bounty hunter and I think he enjoys it a bit too much. I wont spoil anything, it is too good to do that. This story has it all and of course, Adler(Vi's dad) is still as cool as ever.
Just the right mix of whimsical adventure, exotic places, suspense, mega bugs, Wick's determination and Vi's uncaffinated snark. A much needed great escape from the real world.
I really wanted to like this book, particularly because Jessica Gadziala is one of my favorite authors. But…this story is just so implausible. I know that ALL mafia and/or mc romance is implausible, but this story takes it to a whole new level. Basically, the plot is whatever the author decides it should be at any given moment. Violet shows up from her last job and is immediately sent out on a new one where she finds her mark about to leave on a plane from the same airport that she lives near? Check. And yet, somehow, no one else thought to look for him at the same airport. She has no plan for how she will illegally apprehend him from outside the US, but pursues him anyway? That airfare to Ecuador and then again to the Galapagos must have been VERY expensive for someone without a plan. Then they decide to work together for no apparent reason? I just couldn’t get into this because the inane plot twists kept pulling me out of it.
This book was such a fun adventure romance comedy! Violet had me laughing out loud. Wick was charming and won me over pretty quickly and has become a favorite of Jessica's MMC. Great quick read! Can't wait for more from this author!
Jessica Gadziala's Chasing Paradise was a TON of Fun!! The entire story from beginning to end is a hair raising roller coaster ride complete with jungles, speed boats, bugs, and fun sexy times for Vi and Warwick (Wick.)
Vi is a bounty hunter who's Mom Lou was once a bounty hunter and her Dad Adler is a member of the Henchmen, the local motor cycle club. Vi is considered a Motorcycle Club Princess, but she is hardly a stay at home type. Always out catching skips, often tired, and hungry, but still always smart and sexy, she's just trying to make that BIG case. So when her Mom suggests she go after a man who's skipped out on a bond of $1 Million Dollars all she can see is $500,000 sitting in her bank account and maybe a bath in a nice hotel sinking tub!
Wick is just trying to get on the plane in Miami when he notices this person, fine - this super sexy gal, watching him. Maybe that's all it is, but then she follows him to the Gallappagos Islands, why would anyone follow him there? When Wick pulls her up short and asks what's going on he gets a face full of grumpy Vi, but really who could blame her? She hasn't any coffee in almost 24 hours and she really didn't want to leave the country!
What follows, for at least a little while, is an epic chase where avi jumps into his speed boat and they end up on this tiny island and Vi wakes up to Hank the lizard sitting in an interesting place. Once Wick and Vi start working together things get a whole lot more interesting.
Wick is looking for information that he's been lied to about some ecotourism stuff, and he needs the evidence so he doesn't have to hide for the rest of his life. While he and Vi are looking for that they run into quite possibly the biggest bugs ever described to me (thank god I'm ok as long as I'm not seeing them, otherwise I'd have had the full body shivers just like Vi!) Angry assassin's are trying to keep Wick from finding the truth about the "Bean", and a whole bunch of natural disasters are trying to kill them along the way.
I had a blast with Vi and Wick and all the bugs and cute animals! Vi's full body shivers at every single bug, and the possibility of jaguars were hilarious, and I was appreciative that most of the sexy times were done over the clothes as everyone is dirty, muddy, and just plain yuck.
The Assassin's were only slightly terrifying, especially at that one part (I'm not saying, you'll just have to read it!🤯), and the epilogue was beautiful, especially after the heightened tension of the book all the way through. If you're looking for a book that reads like a new and less icky version of Romancing The Stone (if you dont know its an old movie, its a lot of fun too!) this is THE book for you!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. *
Genre & Tropes : romance contempo x bounty hunter plot x badass heroine x millionaire on the run x exotic setting x spicy

A fun romance that I enjoyed reading
I was SO happy when I found out there would be a book about Vi (Adler and Lou's daughter !!) and I devoured it !
Vi made me laugh SO MUCH (the insects xD), Wick was adorable, and the whole plot with the chase on the island and then in the jungle ... Brilliant !
I would have liked a plot that was perhaps a little more developed (especially the ending, I wanted more details !), but it was still a great read !
In short, a fun and sexy romance that I enjoyed reading !
First of all...Violet? My girl. I've been waiting for her story. She's a sarcastic, take no bull bounty hunter. She had that classic Gadziala sass, smart-mouthed, tough as nails, and not about to be outwitted by some white-collar con artist turned jungle fugitive.
And Wick? The man was supposed to be some nerdy white-collar crook, but nah, Jessica had to throw in a twist and this man was giving feral survivalist with a jawline you could cut glass on. He's arrogant, smooth-talking, cocky in that "I know you're gonna fall for me" way- and I ate it UP.
They start off as enemies. Violet chasing him across the globe and just when she things she has him? Boom-now they're the ones being hunted. Cue the forced proximity, one bed (okay, maybe hammock 👀) and all that tension.
I would've loved to see a smidge more emotional depth in Wick's backstory, but did that stop me from devouring this story? NOPE.
Years ago there was a movie called Romancing the Stone with Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas. It was a rip roaring quest through the South American jungle. This book gave me those same vibes even though the storylines are not at all similar. But the sense of fun, of danger, of adventure are so different from the normal Navesink Bank world, that I couldn't help but settle back and enjoy the ride!
I'm not sure what has happened to change, but Jessica Gadziala's books have gone to the next level for me. The writing is so well-crafted that I fall in love with and deeply care about the characters. So much that I fall into a bit of a funk when the book is over. Happily though, I can go back and read the books over and over again.
This is one of the easiest 5-star recommendations I've made in a while. Buckle up, Buttercup! The ride's about to start!
Chasing Paradise by Jessica Gadziala delivers a wild, entertaining ride—from the gritty comfort of Navesink Bank to the unpredictable danger of the Amazon jungle.
“She’s chasing a fugitive. Now they’re both running for their lives.” This sums it up perfectly. There’s just the right mix of suspense, offbeat humour, and adventure. Vi’s un-caffeinated cheek is on point, and Wick’s steady determination balances her out perfectly.
The cameos from familiar characters added a nostalgic spark, and it’s always fun getting little nods to Vi’s wider circle. The exotic setting, mega bugs and all, made this feel fresh and different while still grounded in everything fans love about the series.
Chasing Paradise by Jessica Gadziala is such a good book!
We’ve known for a while that Violet is a bounty hunter, and in this book we get a front row seat watching her in action. I love that this story takes place mostly in the Amazon rainforest. There’s lot of action and danger and Violet and Wick are constantly having to fight for their lives.
Violet is always tough around her family and friends. For the first time, she is able to be vulnerable and taken care of by someone else. Wick is a great leading man. He’s respectful of Violet and her job and does just enough that he doesn’t make her feel weak when he steps in to help. He's determined to prove his innocence and Violet is right there next to him to help. These two slowing fall in love and it’s a ride I very much enjoyed taking.
Adler & Lou are one of my favorite JG couples, so of course I adore Violet & her bounty-hunting glory. Throughout the various chronicles of others' stories, she's always in & out, onto catching her next skip. This time, her skip catches her!
Wick is awesome! He takes care of her right from the beginning, even as he knows her goal is to turn him in. His sense of humor & their banter together made this a very happy read for me! I love them together!
And Violet's joy over all the jungle creatures (except bugs, 😄) like Hank the lizard & the frog with butt cheeks... 😀 big smiles!!
As they navigate through the jungle, facing perilous terrain (& bugs), they fall in love while also forming a great friendship. Love it!
And the adventures don't stop when they get home. The ending was PERFECT!
Chasing Paradise is a really fun story! A bounty hunter, the rainforest, assassins, and lots of creep bugs. What else could one need?
Violet, a henchman princess, is a bounty hunter who is chasing a skip for a very large payday. Wick is the skip who is heading down to South America trying to prove his innocence. Unfortunately, doing that isn’t as easy as originally expected. They run into a lot of trouble, and have a few close calls.
Chasing Paradise was a different story than I expected, I absolutely loved it. There is something going on through out the entire story. It is a fast read because it’s so hard to put down. Definitely worth 5 stars!
When Violet lands a big bounty case, little does she realize that chasing the massive commission will land her in the deepest trouble she’s ever encountered in her bada$$ bounty hunter career. Not only will she get stranded on a deserted island in the Galapagos, but somehow, the bad guys who have framed the skip are hot on his tail and determined to kill him and anybody in the way – specifically including Violet.
The action, adventure and hotness in this story are addictive and palpitation-inducing – drop everything and read this NOW!
JG just keeps on giving. I'm admitting right now that I couldn't be as adventurous as our starring heroine. She was a total badass . she settled I for the adventure laid out. Spiders are not my jam. They will make me hurt myself so being exposed to things she was introduced to let me know I'd never get the Man. This one just seemed so laid back, strong, smart and FINE. Its a good love story that rooted for to the end. Take this adventure and learn a lot. Great job!!!
Oh my word— I was NOT expecting to find this nugget of a story in my “suggested for you” but JG delivers the action-packed punch! The game of hide and seek with new friends who seem familiar starts off with a bang and just keeps going! Hello Navesink Bank- the fav fantasy world but with tropical twists and turns! Couldn’t put this gem down waiting to see more of Violet and Wick! Ending brought it all full circle with some old favorite characters too and the next gen of Navesink Bank! Loved it all!
I only write a review for this stinking author! Every dang time she knocks it out of the park! I never write spoilers or even a lot about the plot I just want you to know two things. One I have over 2,000 books in my kindle library and I have read each one and two this women is only one of three authors I search out monthly to see if she wrote another awesome story. If you don't read her books start and if you don't like them...well some people just have terrible taste.
This book was such a fun read. The relationship between Vi and Wick reminded me somewhat of the classic 80s romcom movies like Romancing the Stone. The banter between our dynamic duo was hilarious, the chemistry was steamy and the journey thru the rainforest full of twists and turns that kept my hooked. Another gem by Jessica, and as always I look forward to her next masterpiece
Excited to get Violet’s story and it was awesomely different from what we are used to from Jessica. The whole story was so much fun with the banter between Violet and Wick, the adventures of the Amazon and all the things that Violet did not usually encounter during a search for a skip, and watching the feelings develop. Another wonderful story delivered by this author that I love so much!
Much of this book takes place in the South American rain forest which I wasn't expecting but it was fun anyway. The MFC is quirky and funny. The MMC is an outdoorsy type. I loved revisiting her parents and the powerhouse that is the Navesink Bank Henchmen and Hailstorm.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book! Violet was a hoot with her phobias and fears. Especially when she would see a new bug which was huge compared to what she knows at home. She still stuck to her job as a bounty hunter but never seemed to actually “get her man”! She was only successful in falling for Wick and vice versa!
Just finished Chasing Paradise by Jessica Gadziala and I have one thing to say: I was not ready. This book body-slammed me into the jungle, set everything on fire, and still somehow made me feel things. Badass heroine? Check. Alpha hero? Check. Jungle chaos, gunfire, slow-burn tension that could melt steel? Check, check, check. If you want survival, steam, and a romance that feels like a punch to the heart (in the best way), you NEED this book. Pure madness. Pure heart. Pure Gadziala gold. 10/10 would get emotionally wrecked again.
I’ve been waiting for Violet’s story, and Chasing Paradise did not disappoint! Wick & Violet, so great together! Jungle, danger, spice—this book had it all. A wild ride in the Navesink Bank world, and I loved every second. No notes!
