I was rejected by my fated alpha. Then I found out I was pregnant with his baby. And now, I'm bound to die unless he claims me.
I’ve been cursed since birth to one day fall into a deep sleep… And never wake up again. I have very little time left.
So when I meet Levi and the mate bond snaps into place, I have nothing to lose. He’s the alpha of a rival pack. I’m risking everything for these stolen kisses and secret nights together. But I’m running out of time, and I want at least a few fiery, passionate memories to dream about when the curse takes me.
He swears I’m his, fully and always. And then Levi discovers I’m from a rival pack. He rejects me brutally. Suddenly, falling asleep forever doesn’t sound like a terrible idea.
My family resents me for being mated to the enemy. My fated mate doesn’t want me. I have nothing to live for… Until I realize I’m pregnant with Levi’s pup. And the only thing that can break the curse to save my unborn baby and I? Levi claiming me.
This was an interesting book. It was a mixture of sleeping beauty and Romeo and Juliet. (Possible spoilers ahead)
So there were 4 main characters in this book. H and his sister, Daphne. Then h and her brother, Colby.
h was cursed to die on her 23rd birthday. Her mom slept with a married warlock, and the witchy wife cursed her future daughter. Basically, at 11am on her birthday, she would go to sleep. Alive, but not really…. asleep. Nobody knew except the immediate family. Her dad is the alpha and has kept her pretty locked up her whole life.
One month before her birthday, she goes to a ball.
H also goes to the ball. He’s also a prince alpha to a nearby pack and the packs HATE each other. Like, really hate each other (over a land dispute) Naturally, H and h see each other and know they are mates. She lies and gives him a different name. They make plans to meet the next night in a hidden cave.
For one week, they enjoy each other aka shag each other. Her brother follows her on the last night and the secret is out
Whoa! H is in a rage. He’s so mad. He rejects her and it’s absolutely heartbreaking because she is begging him not to reject her. I hated him in this moment
3 weeks later and they are both miserable. She’s ready to go into her sleep because she’s so depressed. She finds out she’s pregnant right before she goes to sleep.
3 months later, H decides to go get her back. h’s parents tell him (and everybody else) that she died in a drowning. Colby “fake” removes him from the property and tells him everything. He takes H to the tomb they have her in and H can see she’s pregnant. H takes her and hides her in a cabin. Colby is helping him. Eventually, everything comes out and Colby disobeys his parents and H take h’s body to the palace. Colby overheard his parents and knew they know how to cure h, they just didn’t do it.
Colby and H go see the faries and find out only a mates kiss can cure her. Daphne and Colby talk him into kissing her to “try it out”. It works. h wakes and she’s not happy. She remembers being rejected. She has hate for H.
There is a bunch of grovel from H. His pack hates h so it seems helpless. There is a TON of hate directed at h. H’s pack bullies her. It’s really bad.
War is blooming and everybody blames h. She literally only has H, Colby, and Daphne supporting her.
The final showdown was 😱 shocking. h’s dad was absolutely a garbage person. Let me tell you, Colby stepped up and took on his dad. YES! He became the best brother in the world. I was shocked. Usually, books have the H be the hero, but not in this book. Her brother has always been her hero and he continues to be her hero. ❤️ I LOVED TO READ IT!
Alpha Colby for the win!
HEA with a double wedding. H and h, and Daphne and Colby.
This book was very... meh. I liked that the author was going for a Romeo and Juliet meets Sleeping Beauty vibe, but it was just handled very awkwardly. I found the whole curst idea to be just clunky. Then, at the end, everyone around just did a quick 180 for some reason that didn't quite feel right, either. I think there could have been more edits done.
Technically, I did come across some missing/extra quotation marks. That seems to be the norm in these shifter books, anymore.
The beginning of the book just introduced this curse so matter-of-factly, and everyone was just going along with it. Nobody seemed too upset about it, and it looked like nobody really cared enough to try and do anything, as well. In my mind, I was desperate for more information on what it was and why it happened, but it didn't come. It wasn't until about half-way through when we got more info, and by that point I was already irritated by the book.
Levi's pack was so mean and hateful to her. You can't tell me that they all just turned around and were suddenly OK with her being there after the attack. Sure, stress about a feud can cause issues, but at the same time, it's just a little too and-they-all-lived-happily-ever-after for me. People don't change that fast, especially when they were doing it against their Alpha's wishes. I don't see how she felt safe there anymore, regardless of her brother defeating her father.
Still wouldn't recommend this one to others. There have been some good books in this series, but overall they are not... great.

I was very much interested in the idea of a sleeping curse, which is what initially intrigued me about this book. However, if a mate’s kiss is the key to breaking the curse why did it not break the first time Rose and Levi kissed or even the multiple times they did it when they met up in the dead of night at Stordan Stretch? ALSO, when Levi threw that party in an attempt to make his pack accept Rose, there was a part where Rose was tripped and fell on her face, (because even as supernatural beings, they never gain the supernatural ability of reflexes) but HELLOOOO?! She’s going on 5 months pregnant?! How was she not seriously injured or in danger of miscarrying since she FELL FLAT ON HER FACE???
Don’t even get me started on Levi! As an Alpha he had the absolute worst instincts ever which led to the worst decisions ever. His “solution” for fixing the decades long feud between their packs was to throw a freaking party and give Rose heirloom jewelry publicly????seriously that’s the absolute best he got?
On the upside, Daphne and Colby were amazing side characters.
Storyline: 📙📙📙📙 Intimacy Level: 🍒🍒🍒 Character Building: ➷➷➷➷➷ HEA: Yes Overall View: ✨✨✨✨ Note: If you are reading the Forbidden Alpha Kings 52 Book Series, it is best to stick to one author at a time. The series feels somewhat disorganized, but focusing on one author helps keep things clearer.
Well, it’s not a horrible book. And I do love fairytales retellings… but this was… irritating, I guess? It’s Sleeping Beauty, but with hypocritical werewolves. No, seriously, almost everyone is noticeably hypocritical.
While the plot was ok, the baby seemed insignificant to the story. I am trying to wrap my head about all this secret baby nuisances stories. In this story, other than Rose being pregnant while cursed, the baby really didn't play much of a part. Not really impressed.
Feuding packs and a curse with selfish parents and loving siblings. What more could you want? Everything works out in the end. And they all lived happily ever after.
A fairytale most are familiar with …. Snow White and Cinderella. However, this story is done in a twist that brings not only forbidden love, but with looking for a solution that will end a feud that’s older than they are. There is anger, competition, compassion, empathy, jealousy … a bit more complex than the Disney tale …. Loved that part. However, many books in this series kinda of leave a cliffhanger, yet there’s no follow-up.
This whole series is not tied together … Yes, they mentioned packs that were previously mentioned; however, there isn’t continuity. A series needs to connect from one book to the next ,this series doesn’t do this! I’m not an editor, but I’m very educated and I don’t understand why the editor/publisher allowed the series to be discombobulated ….
I’ve noticed that the authors have varied throughout the series …. I’m on 23 of 37 items in this series; however, if several authors are contributing to the series, then they need to communicate so that the story is interwoven … while still being a stand alone story.
