The Nest #4

Mr. Charming

Rate this book
Three years ago, I swore to myself we were done.

Since then, Tweetie Sorenson has embraced the professional hockey player bachelor lifestyle—his social media is a highlight reel of clubs, friends, and a never-ending stream of different women.

It’s hard to believe he’s the same man who stole my heart the very night we met. With him, everything felt wild, spontaneous, and absolutely perfect. I thought he was my forever.

Then, he broke my heart. Or maybe we broke each other’s. Either way, it was over.

I’ve moved on—new city, dream job—until my boss throws me back into Tweetie’s world. I’m sent to Chicago to manage the Falcons’ social media, which means working alongside the one man I never truly let go of. FML.

This series makes my heart happy! The guys of the Nest were so fun, sexy, and heart-warming. I loved the found family aspects of the whole series and though they were all moved out by the end of the series, it was a great way for them all to meet.

Tedi and Tweetie had a lot of baggage to work through, but their love is worth it all. This may have been the angstiest book in the series but that made their love all the more satisfying. They know one another so well but there was also new things to learn.

They even made some flashbacks work for me! I thought it was clever to do these via journal entries and I was surprised how engaged I was by them. It's a personal pet peeve when flashbacks are relied on too heavily, but these worked for me.

I truly loved this series and I can't wait for whatever series Piper Rayne does next!

I think this beats book 2 as my least favorite of the series.

The leads are supposed to be the oldest in the group (mid-thirties ish), but they were acting like children. I get that they didn’t end on good terms, but I couldn’t stand their behaviour, especially Tedi. She was a terrible female lead with how unlikeable she was. I hated how she was basically threatening Decker to be her fake boyfriend to get back at Tweetie. It was stupid and mean. Decker deserved better because Tedi treated him like crap and didn’t care about his feelings at all. She was so nonchalant and it annoyed me because Decker was getting injured left and right and she couldn’t even bring herself to care about him. She only worried how it might ruin her whole fake boyfriend charade.

Another problem I had with the romance is that I don’t think the author did a good job addressing the reasons why Tedi and Tweedie’s relationship fell apart. Tedi and Tweedie don’t talk about their breakup or why their relationship would work this time around, besides the fact that they love for each other. But obviously, love wasn’t enough before so it didn’t make sense to me. I felt like the characters hadn’t matured enough to be able to overcome their previous issues. They experienced no growth and it wasn’t believable to me that they could make their relationship work a second time. Once they get back together, they hardly talk about anything meaningful either and it was just them lusting after each other.

Also, the author used journal entries rather than flashbacks, but they were odd. I mean who writes dialogue in their journal entries? The author should have stuck with either journal entries or flashbacks and not this weird combination of the two. The journal entries are about how their relationship fell apart, but they didn’t even explain how these two met and fell in love so they felt kind of pointless. Their backstory just wasn’t fleshed out properly. I know they appear in some of the author’s other series, but I should still be able to understand what is going on without having to read those books and that wasn’t the case here. The journal entries were also really cringey and juvenile.

Overall, this was a complete miss for me. Only giving the one star for poor Decker, honestly hoping he gets his own book.

I love a good second chance romance and Tweetie and Tedi’s story was my favorite of ‘The Nest’ books. This one kept a smile on my face and I wish there were more in the series because I could happily keep reading about these guys!

It's finally time to know better Tweetie Sorenson.
The fourth and last installment in The Nest series tells the journey of our Mr. Charming and Tedi, the woman who got away.

Tedi is at the head of a team that manages the social media accounts for the hockey league, she likes her job until her boss sends her to help the Chicago Falcons, the very team where plays the man who broke her heart. Tedi is determined to stay away from Tweetie, and to not be affected by his charming smile, but it will be harder than she thought.

Tweetie and Tedi are perfect together, their feelings are still so much alive they show even when they try to hide them. Their past break up left them hurt and so broken that they couldn't move on with their love lives, so they threw themselves into their work to cope, but now that fate put them in the same city again they are forced to face their fears and their problems.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and this book hasn't disappointed. Mr. Charming is the right blend of emotions, spiciness and entertainment. I've adored to see how these great characters try to mend their hearts.

Piper Rayne have brilliantly concluded this series. I'm sure I'll miss all the Nest residents, but the authors already promised us a new sports series that won't let us down.

✨️🥹 This book was so bittersweet to come to an end of this series. I've fallen in love with each of these hockey players in this series. Before reading this book, I thought Tweetie was this big playboy. But the way he was so Down Bad for Tedi, wow! This book was perfect. I loved the journal entries and getting glimpses of their past. Tedi's attempts at staying away from Tweetie with a fake boyfriend had me cracking up. I loved the ending! This series on audio is the absolute way to go! The ensemble cast is amazing! Piper Rayne has made a fan for life in me after reading this series, and I will read anything they write! I definitely recommend this series and especially this book!

If there is one thing that I hate is hypocrite people. (Well to be honest there's many things that I do hate but let's just stick to hypocrisy so I can get my point across 😁)

Tedi, our SIW* (refer to end of review for elaboration), wrote in her journal to her future self about her incredible time with Tweetie.
And it goes like this.

She has a bucket list and on it is - sleep with an athlete - how classy! 🙄 She goes to a bar that the hockey team frequents. She sees Tweetie who has been eye fucking her from afar. And since she is a SIW who works for what she wants, she approached him, sits on his lap, can't believe her luck when he says to get out of there, ends up at his place, bang three times and then writes in her journal about his "magical d*ck".

Fast forward to the present, she is repulsed by his manwhorish ways and cannot believe women actually leave their numbers on his apartment building door promising these athletes a good time.... 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

🤔 Who's gonna tell her? who's gonna tell her that some years back she was one of those women who similarly had an itch to scratch. How is she any better?! She was a puck bunny who got lucky and ended up dating the guy. Thus, hypocrite.
See my dilemma? Now I kinda hate this MFC.

Consequently, I dnfd. Bye 👋.

The full cast narration for all the books in this series have been top notch! So well produced.

And this story? Completely worth the wait. I loved the emotional depth of the characters, wanting to work through their issues so they don’t mess it up again, and the care for each other was perfect!

The journals, genius!

This is one of my fave Piper Rayne series.

Second change Hockey romance... Finally, we get Tweetie’s book. This is the final and most anticipated book in the Nest series. The “Playboy” settles down!

Tweetie and Tedi are amazing together. Their chemistry is hot. The love they have for each other and their connection is so strong. Tweetie and Tedi are like little magnets that can’t help but be pulled together.

I adore Tedi, but she is also a bit on the dramatic side at times. Her baggage made it hard for her to be all in with Tweetie the first time.

You know when you read an interconnected standalone series and there is one character that you keep getting a little nugget of information about but not enough to fully satisfy your intrigue? That character in The Nest series is Tweetie Sorenson. I've been anxiously awaiting his story and it is finally here! And let me tell you something, he got the love story he so desperately deserves!

Tweetie's happily ever after is 13 years in the making and his story is the classic right person wrong time. The love and connection between Tweetie and Tedi is so strong. They are like magnets that are drawn into each others orbits. I will say, I truly felt their heartbreak and mutual pining. If you have ever loved someone so much but couldn't be together then you will really relate to this story.

Mr. Charming will give you everything that you have loved about Tweetie. He brings his life of the party personality. He will make you laugh with the things that come out of his mouth. But you will also see a very new vulnerable side of him. And Tedi, she is feisty! I loved how she challenged Tweetie and brought the best out of him. They are truly an amazing match. I loved them so much.

As sad as I am to see this series come to an end, I think Tweetie's book was the PERFECT way to end this series! I couldn't have asked for a better ending! So if you have not read this series, let this be your sign to add it to you TBR and you can thank me later.

You should most definitely read this book if you like:
- Hockey Romance
- Second Chance Romance
- Workplace Romance
- Right Person, Wrong Time
- Mutual Pining
- Forced Proximity
- Found Family

* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Piper Rayne and Valentine PR for allowing me to read Mr. Charming as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
Cue the tears! Whether you’re reading or listening to the book for the first time, or supplementing your first read with an immersive audiobook experience, this story will tug at your heartstrings!

This is another “even better in audio” book from Piper Rayne. As always, they cast the perfect voice actors to bring their characters to life. The full-cast duet-style format is the best way to consume Tedi and Tweetie’s story.

📚 Story Review 📚
This book surprised me. I knew we were in for an emotional time, and the authors more than delivered the pain. I was surprised how well Piper Rayne convinced me, making me love Tweetie despite my initial reservations. I could not put this book down and am writing this review well past my bedtime - the lack of sleep was well worth getting to that HEA.

Let’s talk about Tweetie…
I did not like him for a good portion of the story. I’m not the biggest fan of a MMC who becomes a manwhore because his heart was broken (and he was not blameless in that breakup AT ALL). Or a FMC who just gives in once he says the phrase “it was always you”. But… and this is a huge but, as the story went on, as Tweetie revealed his vulnerabilities, and after that BIG reveal, I kinda got it. And then fell hopelessly in love with the thought of him and Tedi getting that elusive HEA. I became their biggest fan.

The pining and "will they, won't they" vibes are intense. For so much of the book, I could not see how Tweetie and Tedi would overcome their pasts. How they would recover from the mutual hurt. I can't even count the number of tears I shed for them, nor speak of how hard it was to go back to pull quotes without tearing up again.

Mr Charming is a medium-burn and spicy, super-angsty, second chance, “it was always you” standalone MF romance that is part of an interconnected series.

I’m really sad that this is the end of The Nest era. It’s going to be so hard to say goodbye to all the couples and their shenanigans. I’m still holding out hope the Chipmunks get their turns, but I am looking forward to the next batch of athletes to fall for their ones.

Thanks to Piper Rayne and Valentine PR for the review copy.

Mr. Charming is the 4th and final book in the Nest series. It was the perfect conclusion to such an amazing series. I was so excited to finally get to Tweetie's romance, and this did not disappoint. This may be one of my favorite second chance romances.

Tweetie is seen as the playboy and charming one of the hockey team, but he plays that image up to cover for his past. He fell in love with Tedi 13 years ago, and they had such a beautiful relationship. Unfortunately, things fell apart, and they split up, leaving both of them brokenhearted. Tedi is sent by her boss to help the Chicago Falcons with their PR. She is very nervous about seeing her first love again and having to work with him. She ends up asking her brother's best friend to fake date her, so she can keep some distance between them. This doesn't work for long because Tedi and Tweetie have so much history and love between them.

I usually don't love a bunch of flashbacks, but I thought the ones in this book were written perfectly. It showed all the different phases of their relationship, and I was getting so emotional seeing how their relationship ended. I was just rooting for this couple, and they were meant to be.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
This audiobook was duet narrated by Troy Duran and Christine Lakin and featured Sean Masters, Connor Crais, JF Harding, Teddy Hamilton, and CJ Bloom. I have listened to all of the audiobooks for this entire series, and I highly recommend them. The duet narration with a full cast just takes the performances to the next level. Troy and Christine were the perfect Tweetie and Tedi!

Loved it (rounded up)

What a fantastic ending to this series. I've honestly loved every installment and can't wait to see what the next generation of The Nest turns into. From the moment we found out about Tedi’s existence and her connection to Tweetie, I was just waiting for the tea to be spilled!

I’ve gotta say, their history was a whirlwind romance! So wonderful until they both got in their own heads and effed it up. It was refreshing to see how they both played a role in their breakup, even if they didn’t fully understand what part they themselves had in it. The journal entries from both POVs were such a smart way to show us the past (good and bad), and where their heads were at the time. It helped us understand just how far they’ve come...or haven’t.

Their connection was never the issue. The trauma from their pasts (even before they got together years ago) played a huge part in their downfall. And they handled the breakup in completely different ways. The feelings they have for each other run so deep that every tiny razor cut felt like a stab to the heart (removing the tattoo?! Brutal.)

The audio for this series has been chef’s kiss! Full cast duet narration and absolutely perfect. I’ve been listening to Troy Duran since the beginning and loved his voice. Getting him for the majority of this book (instead of just a side character) was such a treat. If I ever hear him in anything else, I’ll always think of Tweetie because he was PERFECT. Christine Larkin as Tedi was equally amazing. She nails that “tough on the outside, soft on the inside” tone flawlessly.

Thank you, Piper, not only for the ALC, but for this incredible series. And thanks to Valentine PR for the opportunity to listen early!

Okay, I am such a sucker for a good second chance romance and this one totally delivered! This book had everything I love: longing glances, unresolved feelings, and that delicious, slow-burning will-they-finally-get-it-right-this-time kind of tension. 🥹💕

Tweetie and Tedi had my heart from the start. Their chemistry? Still electric. Their past? Tangled and full of feelings. Watching them navigate old wounds while falling for each other all over again gave me butterflies (and maybe a few happy tears). I loved how real their journey felt—messy, emotional, but ultimately hopeful.

The pining? Chef’s kiss. The banter? On point. And the message? Sometimes love really does find its way back when the timing is right. This story just fills you up with hope that true love can survive anything, even time apart and a little heartbreak.

જ⁀➴  SO I'M FINALLY DONE WITH TWEETIE AND TEDI'S STORY.

╰⪼ I claimed him the very first time I met him in Mr. Broody and ever since then I was waiting for his turn, to know his story. And now that I’ve finally read it......WOW !!

જ⁀➴ From that unfazed, effortlessly cool man to someone completely undone by love ?? It was absolute cinema. He loves with such intensity, it felt like he had two sides. One the world saw and the other ?? The tender, utterly devoted one ?? Reserved only for Tedi. To see him soften, love, ache and yearn made me fall even harder.

Getting to see his vulnerable side, his insecurities, all his struggles made me connect with him even deeper. It wasn’t just about the charm or the confidence anymore, it was about the cracks beneath it all, the quiet pain he carried.

જ⁀➴  Honestly, I didn’t expect Tedi to be this much fun. She’s got the whole strong, independent, witty vibe going on, and those unintentionally funny moments were pure gold and hilarious.

જ⁀➴ The storyline portrayed their longing and yearning so beautifully. And don’t even get me started on the journal entries, they were such a perfect way to uncover their past. Also, I’m completely hooked on Tedi's brothers now. I really hope they get their own books in future. I love Tweetie's sister too. I hate Bud and I'm still bitter towards Kane and Jana, doesn't matter Tweetie forgive them I can't ✋🏽.

જ⁀➴ Bodhi is still the best matchmaker everrrrrrr, I adore him. I absolutely loved the female friendship. The way they instantly accepted Tedi into their group was so wholesome and the scenes where the guys were teasing and pulling Tweetie's leg was pure entertainment. The banter, the vibes, the found family energy, it all just made my heart so happy. AND THAT LITTLE SURPRISE TOWARDS THE END WAS EVERYTHING 💜.

💘 It was Always You

Ok, im just going to get it out of the way...I had such a hard time dealing with the name Tweetie as the MMC. I understand why he went by that name vs JD, but it honestly killed me. Tedi's name was also kinda strange and while it didnt throw me like Tweetie it was still a little off.

Outside of that, I really liked Tedi's fiery personality and how when she loved, she loved hard despite all of her emotional baggage. Both Tedi and Tweetie are flawed, and have a lot of baggage that they are refreshingly aware of. It was interesting to get to see the flashbacks in the letters that they write to their younger [Tweetie] and older [Tedi] selves and how those decisions they made in those flashbacks have led them to their current situation.

While there really wasnt a miscommunication trope in the present book, and only slightly in the flashbacks...There was the fake boyfriend trope, and it really dragged on a bit too much. I really wanted more time where Tweetie & Tedi were back together and working through the challenges of their present relationship. It was nice to see an older relationship, and I really loved their second chance. They were so good together. Solid 4th book, and end of "The Nest" Series.

Teddy and Tweetie share a complicated past, so neither is thrilled when Teddy is sent to Chicago to manage the Falcons' social media, where Tweetie happens to be a player. They try to keep their distance, but Teddy’s new assignment makes that impossible. With unresolved feelings lingering between them, being in close proximity forces everything to the surface. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they must figure out what their history means for their future.

Troy Duran and Christine Larkin are a perfect match as narrators, bringing Teddy and Tweetie’s emotional depth and sizzling connection to life. The full cast, as always with this series, delivers an outstanding performance. This sweet and steamy second chance romance is one you won’t want to miss. An absolute must listen!

Tweetie said, “You’ve been waiting to see my downfall since Rowan’s story.” — and he isn’t wrong. Only is not a downfall but a rise up. Rise up to be the guy we knew he could be, the man he was underneath all that icky stuff 😜 the man we’ve been waiting to see since Henry’s book.

Is it the name Tedi? Was I meant to be a Tedi in another life? Because they are always my favorite. And this book? It’s probably my ultimate favorite in this series. There isn’t a comma I would change in this. Absolutely incredible ending to an era. Because that’s what it feels like… the end of an era. The nest is no more. Like the den was done once upon a time. I have enjoyed being in this world created by Piper Rayne, and getting to know this amazing friend group. Tedi and Tweetie's story was everything I wanted and more. They have a long, complicated history, and even after years apart, the strong feelings between them remained. Their second-chance romance broke my heart, then slowly put it back together. I absolutely loved their dynamic—Tedi, the strong and feisty social media manager, and Tweetie, the fun-loving, charming pro hockey player. Their banter was hilarious, their emotional moments were heartbreaking, and their romance was worth the wait. I loved experiencing their past via the flashbacks and journals. Their journey back to each other felt so real and satisfying. This series has a great found family element. The friendships between the hockey players and their partners always put a smile on my face. I loved how easily Tedi was welcomed into the group. Characters like Decker, Bodhi, and Micha added so much to the story with their sneaky antics and laugh-out-loud moments. This story was the perfect, emotional, and unforgettable end to a fantastic series.

Narration:
The audio for this entire series has been amazing. Christine Lakin and Troy Duran did a fantastic job giving voices to Tedi and Tweetie. Add in CJ Bloom, Sean Masters, Connor Crais, JF Harding, and Teddy Hamilton, and you are guaranteed to have a good time. All of these amazing voice actors are super talented, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them all bring this final story in the series to life.

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SPICE: 🌶️🌶️

Tweetie and Tedi finally got their happily ever after, and when I tell you I was screaming the whole time for the to give in.... I was screaming. I loved these two so much and I love how their story was told through flashbacks in journal entries and we got to see exactly why they could never move on from each other.

I may have gotten emotional a time or two. I enjoyed every moment of this, I love this team, I love the found family vibes and still maintain that Ruby is one of the best side characters of all time.

I'm so sad it's over, but l'm happy we aren't leaving the Nest or this world behind.

The Nest series is without a doubt one of my favorite hockey romances - especially in audio! The full-cast narration takes audiobook listening to a completely new level.

I've loved getting to know the characters of The Nest, and it feels like a bittersweet end. I'll miss our favorite hockey players, but I'm glad they all found their loves!

I was so excited for Tweetie's story. This misunderstood playboy deserved his happy ending. It was clear from the get-go that he was covering up a broken heart, and in this book, we definitely got to see a side of Tweetie we hadn't seen before - a sensitive, sweet, and loving side that I truly adored. He was down bad for Tedi!

Second chance romances can be hit or miss. I'm not a fan of the cheating or miscommunication that's typically involved, but luckily that's not the case here. With Tweetie and Tedi, it truly was a right love, wrong time situation and life goals/plans got in the way.

Unfortunately, this was my least favorite book of the series. I had such a hard time connecting with the characters and the storyline. There just wasn't enough unique story to keep me engaged. This part is an outlier opinion after reading some of the other reviews, but personally I didn't like the journal entries. They didn't feel genuine and fitting to the character's personalities. It seemed odd that in them, they were talking to different versions of themselves.

Overall, this is still a series I'd absolutely recommend again and again! Mr. Heartbreaker and Mr. Swoony were my favorites of The Nest stories. If you're thinking about reading these books, go with audio. It's an unforgettable, unique listening experience!

Is it too early to say this is one of my top reads of the year?

The wait is finally over, and we have Tweety and Tedi's story. I, for one, am ecstatic about it. Piper and Rayne did a phenomenal job with this story, and it was so worth the wait. If you have read the HOCKEY HOTTIES SERIES and remember Tweety and Tedi, you're going to want to read this one!

Tweety has been playing with a couple of teams since he was traded from the Florida Fury, and while he's getting older, he's in the best shape of his life. It's no surprise that he's playing well both on and off the ice. But when Tedi arrives in Chicago as the team's new Social Media Manager, he's thrown off his game.
