Yvette Fielding is an English broadcaster, producer and actress. She is best known for being the presenter of the TV shows Blue Peter, Most Haunted, Most Haunted Live!, and Ghosthunting With...
A book that has been wrote for children documenting some of yvettes ghost hunting adventures. She has used very simple language so that children can follow along with ease. I was kind of hoping for a lot more details about the places and the lives of the people she waa looking into. That being said I think this book would be brilliant for any children who are interested in reading about how ghost hunters hunt, record and gather information.
The newest book in the series and I really had fun reading it! I loved learning more about the house and the ghostly occupants and then get to see our team go there for a night/day. I would have liked maybe some more modern houses instead of fancy castles/mansions.
I love all things paranormal and I am always intrigued when a new book is published by Yvette - I loved the books on Most Haunted Castles and Most Haunted Theatres so I was delighted to pick up a copy of Most Haunted Houses- visiting historic houses (particularly National Trust and English Heritage properties) is a hobby for me so I was intrigued as to what, and which locations would be covered in the book!
I have watched Yvette Fielding on TV for years now and I love the Most Haunted tv series. I was really keen to get my hands on a copy of this book as I said at the start of my review – and it didn’t disappoint, it is pitched really well for the target audience as well and not too scary!
I loved that the book told the stories of what happens in some of the properties, in this case, Haunted Houses, and the wide mix of hauntings that occur, I am really intrigued by poltergeists and after we lost my dad very unexpectedly and suddenly on New Year's Day this year we heard some very strange noises and knocks including footsteps going up the house stairs and a noises that sounded like breathing, the beep of the machines used by the ambulance paramedics and his cough - comforting and off putting at times in equal measure but we knew he didn't get to say goodbye
I have seen a few of the locations on the Most Haunted series but it was great to read about what was also happening when the cameras were not rolling. I loved that the book covered a wide variety of geographic locations as well.
Really enjoyable read, definitely one to make you think and look forward to more of the same style book on other haunted locations - I have now read the three books in this series - Most Haunted Castles, Most Haunted Theatres and Most Haunted Houses - all of which are very good and brilliant ways to pass a few hours! You can't beat a good book
It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!
Yvette Fielding, once a familiar face as a presenter on the children’s TV show Blue Peter, had long harboured a passion for the paranormal. This fascination eventually took centre stage with the creation of her popular tv series Most Haunted. Now, she has channelled that same energy into writing ghost-themed books for children, ranging from fiction featuring child ghost hunters to chilling non-fiction accounts of haunted locations.
In her latest book, Most Haunted Houses, Yvette Fielding invites young readers to take a spine-tingling journey across the UK, exploring homes, both big and small, where she and her team have encountered ghostly activity. With vivid recounting of their eerie investigations, she offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into her ghost-hunting experiences.
Firstly, a word of caution: this book may not be suitable for children who are easily frightened or prone to nightmares, as some of the stories are genuinely scary. While I can’t confirm whether these events are entirely factual or embellished for dramatic effect having not been present at the investigations, the book remains thoroughly entertaining regardless of where one stands on the existence of ghosts.
The writing is pitched perfectly for its intended age group, and the accompanying illustrations effectively bring each haunted setting to life, helping young readers to visualise the places being talked about.
Overall, The Most Haunted series offers an exciting and accessible introduction to the supernatural. It blends suspenseful storytelling with a hint of educational intrigue. These books are sure to captivate curious minds and may even inspire a new generation of budding ghost hunters.
I was surprised to find out that Yvette Fielding actually lives in a haunted house. This is the story of some of the haunted properties that Yvette Fielding and her small team have visited. Yvette tells everything, in a simple layout for the young YA readers, to be able to read and follow. First there is an illustration by Hannah Shaw, of the haunted location, which ghosts was present, and the paranormal activity. Then Yvette, gives us the history about that particular property, followed by the hauntings what people experienced, then the investigation where Yvette and her team investigate using special equipment to find the ghost or ghosts. One of the piece of equipment in helping the crew communicate with the dead, is something that we all know about is the Ouija board. After all the investigations, is completed, there is a very interesting page comes next. Did You Know? This will tell you certain things that you might not of have known. I was surprised to learn that one particular spooky tale of a ghost in the early 1800’s in the Hammersmith, London, had the police baffled. My favourite location that Yvette and her team went to was The Witch’s Cottage, Lancashire. I Loved reading the section Did You Know? Giving information about many, many, years ago, what happened to several women that were subjected to witchcraft. This book isn’t just for 10-12-year-olds, but, absolutely anyone who loves reading about true ghost stories will be excited about all the findings, and the history behind the haunted buildings , by Yvette Fielding. Thank you to walker books for sending me a copy to read . This is my honest review.
I read this in one sitting , which as a mum to little ones is a miracle in itself. This book is fun for adults as well as the younger audience it is aimed at. I thoroughly enjoy reading about Yvette and her team's investigations. I hope there are more of these books planned!
The third in the series of books that Yvette Fielding has written. The first being Most Haunted Theatres and then Most Haunted Castles. I enjoyed it and the drawings add to the stories. I recommend if you are a fan of ghosts and Most Haunted.
enjoyable as always, there's something so comforting about these for me. I like the way it is set out as the history, the haunting and then the investigation. feels like reading an episode of most haunted.
The cover seemed to give me more horrible history vibes and i enjoyed the historical portions about the different places visited by Yvette Fielding, i didn't really care for the sections about the ghost hunting. I think the chapters were interesting and i liked the idea of it but wanted more about the ghosts in general and less about her crews experience. It's not the worst ghost book ever but it doesn't really stand out either.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
