Life after death is supposed to be peaceful, right? You die, float off to paradise, and spend eternity sipping celestial cocktails with your fellow ghosts.
Yeah. No.
Turns out, my lying, cheating, suffocating husband had other plans. Literally. He wrapped his hands around my throat and squeezed the life out of me—and just like that, my story should’ve been over.
But Death had other ideas.
I got a move on like a good little ghost, or wait for my husband to die so I could personally drag his soul to hell.
Obviously, I chose revenge.
Side effect? It came with a job.
Now, I’m a Grim Reaper. Death’s errand girl. And while it’s not exactly the dream career path, at least it’s simple. Clock in, reap a soul, clock out. No drama. No surprises.
Until they showed up.
Three dangerously unhinged, sexy-as-sin psychopaths with a habit of leaving trails of bodies behind them. They’ve done the cheated death, bound me to them, and now they won’t let me go.
Why? No clue. But something tells me it’s not because they’re looking for a fourth player in their murder club.
Now, I’m stuck between three deranged outlaws and the wrath of Father Death himself—and let me tell you, he is pissed.
Peaceful afterlife? Gone.
Surviving my second chance at existence? Looking dicey.
And falling for the men who could very well end the world? Well. That’s a whole other problem.

Forgotten is the first part in The Soulbound Series. It's a paranormal dark Reverse Harem romance featuring morally gray love interests, forced proximity, and a heroine who’s just trying to survive the absolute dumpster fire that is her afterlife. Expect slow-burn spice, chaos, murder husbands, and a whole lot of "touch her and die" energy.

If I were a quote, I’d probably fall somewhere between “Ars longa, vita brevis” and “I couldn’t help but wonder... was I addicted to the drama? Or was I just hopelessly romantic?”
Ideally, something right in the middle—ambitious, a little chaotic, and deeply in my feelings.

I’m someone constantly caught between daydreaming, trying to improve at everything I do, and being mildly awkward (online and off). If you tell me you love my stories, I probably won’t know what to say—even though I’ll be absolutely thrilled inside.

Genre-wise, I go wherever inspiration takes me: Reverse Harem, dark romance, horror, standalones, series—I love exploring it all. If it makes me feel something, I want to write it.

So maybe, just maybe, there’s a story on my backlist with your name on it. And if it’s not there yet, chances are it’s brewing in my head.

Come hang out in my Facebook group, The Hideout, or check out my website for updates, new releases, and whatever weird little world I’m building next.

*blows raspberry of frustration* spoilers ahead. Would have been a 2.5 for me.

I am gonna break this down into likes and dislikes because lately I feel like my reviews have been harsh, and when you are one of 21 reviews and people are trying to make a living in Kindle unlimited I don't want to be an asshole no matter how I felt walking away from a read.

Likes:
I will always be a sucker for a Grim Reaper read. The line between life and death it will always be a romantic notion my Gothic loving heart will lap up. I also like the entire magic and afterlife system, and how the guys did the research to trap her, it kept the book new and interesting enough to keep reading.

Dislikes:
This section will be longer, but I am going to try and be kind with these and just lay them out factually. The book overall could have used some pretty heavy editing. We had quotation marks in the wrong places, and at times we had very similar dialogue and inner monologue to the point of confusing repetition. I felt like the chapters she met the guys and watched the clean up were stuck in a loop for 3 chapters, I just wanted to skip ahead and not hear the same events slightly changed over and over again. The repetitive nature of the book also took me out of character building and didn't give depth to any of the characters. We don't really even see a ton of depth with our FMC even though we get a glimpse into her past. We also barely get to know the three guys in the group and again they became repetitive and stuck in their cliche. We have the playful flirt, the clinical leader, and the asshole. They stay in those lanes and don't surprise you at all. They just exist......

I do have a few other pretty big dislikes but I don't want to sound like a rant. The major take away for me was that I felt like I was glazing over information and plot because it just felt like it took 6 chapters to say what she had already said in 2. I will also say I am a little bummed the next book is catching a wraith and the Grim becoming human. Why would she become human again when death just talked about all the trouble she had made? Giving her a human life and expecting her to take on the wraith seems ridiculous. I am also rolling my eyes because finger banging a girl back to life because it's the only thing that can help her........I cannot roll my eyes hard enough at this.

All in all I am not sure I will be moving on to the next book but I wish the author the best and I like the reaper theme.

Reading the blurb, this immediately had my interest piqued. A Grim Reaper FMC? Sign. Me. Up!
Whilst I wanted to get into this, I struggled with the writing style and the over descriptive inner monologuing of the FMC. I DNF at 22% and it just felt like I hadn't really gotten to know much about anything other than the way her ex husband was and that she didn't feel much, and a brief intro into what I assume is the 3 MMCs.
There was a fair amount of repetition (not sure how many times she had to repeat that it had been 5 years of reaping, but in first 5 chapters it is said around 11 times), and overall it felt very slow moving so I skimmed parts until I DNF.
I would say that the idea behind this, and the general plot/tropes had me really interested but the writing style just wasn't for me.

First, I have never read anything like this book before. Specifically the grim reaper aspect. I will say I was highly intrigued and captivated with it.
I felt like I was in a constant state of suspense and I had so many questions. Of course, as I continued to read, things started to make sense and made me want more!!

This book had suspense, danger, dark humor, and a little crazy. There was some sexual tension and just a bit of spice. (It was quite fitting for the story, being the FMC was unalive and all. Trust me it will make sense. )

I like all the main characters so far. We definitely have more to learn about each of them though.
Overall, I was definitely impressed. I cannot wait to see what happens next, especially with how things ended!!!

This was such an amazing book. I was hooked from the very first chapter and I had a hard time putting it down. I absolutely devoured this book. I really can't wait for the second book. I just loved everything about this book and I can't wait to see if she will still get revenge on her ex-husband, because he definitely deserves it.

Ive never read something quite like this and it was amazing!!

She was murdered and given a choice. Move on or become a grim reaper, to have a chance to balance the scales. To reap the soul of the person who murdered her, when his time comes. She choose the latter because it was all taken from her!

I loved the MMCS, and can not wait to get to learn more about them in book 2! I love a book that was a good plot and little spice! And well little spice because well shes dead👀

A new author to me and in general and this is a great book to start with!
A new twist on the afterlife, Grim Reapers and rules on everything to do with it.

Skye has been a grim reaper for 5yrs after her husband murdered her. She's obsessed with him getting his share of karma but is unsure if how it's going to happen.

When getting the usual "pull" to reap a soul she finds herself trapped by 3 men who've killed especially to catch her.

These aren't just any men tho. They're all killers, yes but they have a special interest in killing murderers. And especially in giving karma a helping hand by killing them in the way they kill their victims. After hearing them out, Skye realises this is her way to get HER karma on her husband.

But obviously this is going to be a mutual relationship. They want her for a reason.

After listening, she finds herself agreeing with the men. Even tho she knows she's going against the rules of being a grim reaper, she finds she can't argue with what they're doing - especially if she gets her revenge too.

But they cross so many lines...with each line they cross, they're messing with the natural flow of things.

When they accidentally release a soul sucking wraith, something noone has any idea how to deal with, it starts a chain of events to change Skyes afterlife for good.

She may be a Grim Reaper, but her boss is DEATH. And when death is pissed and you've messed with his souls, you need to repay him.

Skye is sent back to Earth with one chance to fix it all. Or she will be undone for good.....

This is a great way of looking at the afterlife, and how grim reapers can come to be, and how souls pass thru.

I love that the men maybe these killers but they're killers with a conscience. They're ridding the world of people who slip thru the cracks of the law and are getting away with their murders.

But it's also here we're shown that mortals are not meant to judge, jury and executioners.
We are not God's to decide this.

But when they're escaping the law.... How do the people left behind without someone paying for killing their loved ones.... How do they move on? How do they feel like justice has been served? If offered this would anyone say no?

A truly good read. I look forward to the next book. I'm not sure how many books are meant to follow on. There are so many directions that can be taken and I look forward to reading them!

I wasn't sure what to expect but this was truly a different type of Grim Reaper story. Skye was hilarious as a Grim Reaper; after losing her life to the hands of her ex-husband she wants revenge. After all he is remarried and living a new life and her life is over. Skye's afterlife changed in unimaginable ways when she was lured into a trap by 3 serial killers in need of her assistance.

This story leaves you with more questions than answers. I need to keep reading this series because I need to understand Talon, Cassian and Nathaniel's ability to see Reapers and other supernatural beings. Yes, they are serial killers but they only targe murderers.

Skye agrees to assist under 1 condition. they murder her ex-husband to help her balance the scales, but Skye is leaving out an important detail associated with that task. Before the men agree Skye must first help them with a few cases. Everything was going seemingly until it wasn't, and Skye and the guys unleash an unholy terror that will wreak havoc on Reapers and anything else in its path.

Well, the murdering of her ex-husband will need to tack backseat to the mess she helped unwittingly unleashed. I'm looking forward to the journey Skye, Talon, Cassian and Nathanial embark upon because they are in this mess together and if Skye fails, they all fail, and failure is not something the guys are accustomed to.

Expect to find:

FORGOTTEN: Vengeance, Chaos, and the Grim Reaper's New Beginning
Forgotten is a superb debut and an immediately addictive entry into the dark paranormal romance genre. The central premise—a murdered wife choosing the mantle of Grim Reaper for the sole purpose of enacting vengeance—is both fresh and exceptionally compelling.
The author employs an effective dual-timeline structure, which expertly controls the flow of information. This technique successfully maintains a high degree of suspense and intrigue, transforming the novel into a potent page-turner as the reader seeks to unravel the mysteries surrounding the heroine's death and her new otherworldly assignment.
Skye is a phenomenal protagonist whose sharp wit and sarcastic internal dialogue provide essential dark humor against the gravity of her circumstances. Her journey from the trauma of her murder to embracing the power of Death's errand girl is a satisfying arc of strength and self-discovery.
The dynamic with the three male leads (MMCs) introduces complex moral ambiguity. These unhinged, vigilante figures cheat death, forcing proximity with Skye. The slow, calculated reveal of their mysterious motives, alongside their intense, protective devotion—the quintessential "touch her and die" energy—forms a highly engaging and successful Reverse Harem element.
Forgotten is a well-flowing, thrilling, and sophisticated dark romance that delivers on its promises of chaos, murder husbands, and cosmic consequences. It is a highly recommended read and an excellent, unique beginning to The Soulbound Series.

"But dead girls don’t talk. Dead girls can only watch. And that, I do."

This had me at female grim reaper! Yes please 🖤 the entire premise of this book is fantastic!

I thoroughly enjoyed the dual timelines hopping back and forth between past and present. It shook up the story and kept me engaged and intrigued needing to know all the answers to the questions I had. And I had a ton of questions! I still have a couple questions and I'm hoping they get answered before the series ends! The mystery from the very beginning was everything! My need to know all the things that happened made this book a page turner!
Skye was an incredible FMC! I loved her internal dialogue. She's sarcastic, sassy, and full of fire. She was hilarious! As her story unfolds ugh... I felt for her

The 3 MMC's- wow!!! I love the whole vigilante premise! They were quite a mystery in the beginning and everything involving them is where most of my questions landed. i love how slowly everything about them started to unravel. How protective they became of little grim 🥹

This whole thing was suspenseful, thrilling, and filled with dark humor! I enjoyed the slow burn of it and thought it flowed perfectly! Highly reccomend and I can't wait to read the next one! This was such a cool take on the grim reaper!

𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔~

Skye has been dead five years. She has been a Grimm reaper spending her day reaping and watching her (ex) husband until she is trapped by Cassian, Nathaniel and Talon. The three of these guys are on a mission to take out other serial k1ll.ers and want Skye's help but they kinda force this issue. This is told in dual timelines from Skye past, as the story progresses we learn what happens to her. The present is with the guys and the mutual agreement that they come to. Unfortunately there is a balance even in death. I went into the book blind with no blurb and wasn’t sure what to expect but enjoyed the world that Pen has created.
I felt like the beginning is a little slow and wasn’t sure where the story was going to go. Once she meets the guys it does pick up and the last third of the book really had me invested with all the choices they were making that I just knew were going to have consequences and man did they. This was not very spicy but it is only book one and well she is dead and they are alive I expect there will be more in book two. A lot of the questions I had were answered but I do still have some mostly from the guys side of things. Really looking forward to book two and where this is going to go.

It was ok but…

…not only did our FMC let a man ruin her life, she’s letting 3 men ruin her afterlife. But it’s okay, because they’re… hot? Or something?

This book is the paranormal version of working a miserable job for years and some dudes are hired straight out of college as your direct supervisors and they think they know everything because they took an afternoon seminar about everything you do three years ago so they know better than you— you, someone who has been in the trenches for years— and then all they do is erase all your notes and obliterate all your processes that make your role tolerable. And when your department head eventually notices that your team is exploding and your role is fucked, they tell you to suck it up and fix everything or you’re fired.

The big question is: Why is their “justice” prioritized over hers? Even to her? The *one thing* she wants is put on a back burner for men; after she lived a life doing the exact same thing for (also) a man.

I am beginning to question if the collective feminine consciousness of the world is even capable of creating a FMC who has agency, competency, and self worth without making her a rip-roaring bitch.

I really wanted to like this book because the premise sounded so good at first. It had the potential to be an interesting and emotional story, but unfortunately it just didn’t deliver. The writing quickly became repetitive, and it felt like I was reading the same descriptions over and over again. I honestly lost count of how many times the author mentioned him licking his lip piercing or drumming his fingers on his knees. At one point I counted twenty-four times in a single chapter, which made it hard to stay focused on the plot.

The dialogue didn’t help either. So many responses were just one-liners like “mhm” or “mmm,” and after a while it started to feel like filler instead of real conversation. Add in the constant spelling and grammar mistakes, and I found myself pulled out of the story way too often. It’s disappointing, because I could tell the author had passion for the story, but it needed a lot more editing and variation to really shine.

I hate leaving negative reviews, especially for new indie authors who are still finding their footing, but this one just didn’t work for me. I’m giving it 2 stars for the effort and the initial idea, but I really hope the author takes some time to polish their craft because there’s definitely potential underneath it all.

First and foremost thank you for gifting me this book in exchange for a honest review.

Second of all, what the heck. The way this book left off. I cannot wait to find out what happens. What a way to keep us on the hook.

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice : 🌶️.5

This was my first book by this author. This is my first time with the grim reaper trope

I was a little skeptical at first since I haven’t really dived deep into paranormal and I am soooooo glad I got a chance to read this book!

I devoured the last 60% of this book. I couldn’t put It down. It really really picked up. It was great from the start but dang It sucks you in

I absolutely love the dynamic of the 3 MCs. They flow really well together and the banter between them and the FMC was on point. Strong characters and I really want more of their story. We saw a glimpse of Nathaniel’s.

This book for me was like a mix of Dexter and supernatural with lust and slow burn tension tossed in. Very well balanced story and plot. I definitely recommend for any paranormal, revenge, grim reaper fans.

I can’t wait to read more of Pen’s books. Very well done.

When a grim reaper is suddenly seen

Imagine just minding your own business reaping souls as required and waiting for your chance at revenge. Then out of nowhere someone sees you. That's not even possible is it? Well apparently for these three men they can indeed see you and not only that they decide they need you so they have tied you to them.

Unfortunately or maybe fortunately for you they are a wet dream in life. Too bad you can't actually touch them because your sex life when you were alive was nothing special.

This book is really strange in the beginning but as you go along you discover all sorts of interesting things. What are these men doing and why do they want your help? Can you help? How can they see you and what have they done to you?

Each new day brings answers but also more questions. However, when everything is tested what choices will be made and what will the consequences be?

But nothing prepared me for that ending. I mean wait what in the heck? I absolutely need more and I need it immediately....

~ arc review

i wanna start by saying that at first, like skye, i did not like nathaniel, talon and cassian because hello? RUDE but like a fungus they grew on me hard and fast — fucking SWOON — i love them 😩

these men are assholes, rude, practical, direct, protective and know what they goddamn want — and it’s skye… well, eventually.

skye is such a broken girl and she was basically torturing herself endlessly before the guys barged in her life and they end up reminding her there’s more than just watching her ex’s life pass by.

this was a great start to the series and the ending is goddamn amazing — can’t wait to see how everything will change between them.

just fyi: the beginning is a bit gory, so watch your triggers!

like 3.5 or 3.75. It's not as good as my other 4 stars. It's an interesting concept, which is what drew me in, but I the book suffers from not being long enough. if you're gonna write a book like this with so many elements, you need to be more detailed, i think. We didn't really get to know any of the characters, not really. obviously, stuff can be talked about in future books, but I think the first book always needs that extra push. I think just certain things could use more depth and more drawn out. But I think fiction/fantasy books in the 500-700 page area give the author more room to fill out the story but that might just be me.

I don't doubt this will be a great series but I couldn't handle it. I'm not one to need trigger warnings or anything but for some weird reason I couldn't handle what they did to FMC. Never thought I would have such a reaction to binding and tethering a Grim Reaper.

I enjoy fantasy/romantacy/paranormal type books. I've read many that has binding and/or tethering in many ways, even involving spirits - which she essentially is with a caveat. Having such a visceral reaction to it? Never.

Nothing against the author or the book. I just can't read it fully. If you enjoy dark fantasy you should enjoy this. I gave 5 - stars because it really a good plot and book.

I really enjoyed this book. The story is something new and different.
We have a sarcastic FMC who is just trying to do her job as a Grim Reaper and we have 3 morally grey, troublemaker MMCs, who are not making her life very easy.
Each of them has different character traits, which make for a good group dynamic and the banter is at times dark but still funny and entertaining.
Be prepared for chaos, tension, action, danger and spice. And some healthy outrage on behalf of the FMC.
She evolves throughout the course of the story - including her morals - and comes to learn the consequences of questionable decisions, with the story ending on a cliff hanger.

This was so good! I was hooked from the start and did not put it down until I read the last page. It’s a slightly dark, reverse harem, paranormal story about a murder victim turned Grim Reaper and a group of morally grey men dishing out vigilante justice to the criminals who get away with murder. This was a unique twist from the typical paranormal stories. It has suspense, action, a little romance, and dark humor. My favorite characters are Talon and Skye, as the banter between these two was perfection.

I enjoyed the push and pull between the characters. And the struggle between morality within the characters themselves. Each of them is a walking contradiction that somehow makes sense. The story was fun to read and I enjoyed the twists throughout. I love Pain he has definitely somehow become my favorite character. I enjoyed the story and recommend trying it if you like dark, paranormal, romantic, suspense stories.

Yet another book from the author that I loved and couldn't put down... I even shelved a book I was currently reading to devour this!
The whole concept behind this story was brilliantly unique and was delivered amazingly. I've read books with grim reapers as the main characters, but this was just done so differently it was refreshing.
The plot, the characters, and of course, the spice were all written so well that it is easy to get lost in their world. I can't wait for the next part because "goldfish cliffhangers" seem to be something this author likes to do....but, ooooooooh boy, she does them soooooooo well, so I can't complain too much.
Would definitely recommend!

One star was deducted for the use of "unalive." The author writes about rape and torture, so she should be able to type out the word killer, killed, or murdered.
Another star was deducted due to sheer amount of formatting, punctuation and textual errors.

It's a shame that the FMC succumbs to BBS so often. It's 2025, can we start writing female characters who are masters of their emotions and bodies? Is that too much to ask?

I just didn’t really feel like i connected to any of the characters. The men especially. The had such generic personalities? A lot of repetition and the story really dragged out in places. I was just bored. I skipped ahead a lot and didn’t loose anything. It wasn’t a bad read really but not something I couldn’t put down. It picked up a little towards the middle end and I did start the second book but I eventually DNF the second book around 18% in.

Stayed up late last night to finish this one.
Slow burning but kept me intrigued. Loved the concept of writing from a Grim Reaper's perspective; also the past and present narrative.

Supernatural, with a little bit of spice build-up. And those men......yes!! Let's learn more about them!

Another great read of Pen Mucching's. 👏 💞

The guys are intriguing, mysterious, and already showing their possessive side, which adds an extra layer of tension and excitement. I need the second book ASAP!"
