Finding Sonny

Rate this book
A string of contract murders. A deadly environmental disaster. A corrupt United States senator with presidential aspirations. Three seemingly unrelated circumstances turn out to be anything but, and it’s up to Bryce Chandler and the FBI to put it all together before the consequences reach the point of no return.

Target #1 is the mysterious and elusive “Sonny,” the leader of a dark-web based murder-for-hire organization whose legions have set their sights on federal prosecutors, judges, and even Bryce Chandler himself.

The second installment of Steve Lazarus’ award-winning crime thriller series pits Bryce against a fraternity of hired assassins and the specter of unchecked political power as the plot lines twist, intersect, and bring the action to an explosive and unexpected conclusion.

One of the better airport thriller style books I’ve read in a while and a great follow up to the first book. The plot zips along and the action is efficient and exciting.

Finding Sonny is the brilliant second installment in this amazing series. When I read the first book, I rushed through it and felt sad when it ended, so this time I slowed down and really enjoyed every page.

The plot is genius. As the story moves forward there are moments that make you stop and gasp, realizing you missed something important earlier. It makes you want to flip back to previous chapters and catch the details you overlooked. Even though the first book already proved the author is full of surprises, I still found myself caught off guard.

The characters are built so smartly and the sarcasm woven into the story is top tier. And then there is the ending. It doesn’t tie everything up, but instead of feeling unfinished it feels like a promise that another book is coming.

This series keeps getting better, and Finding Sonny (Book 2) left me both satisfied and excited for what comes next.

I can’t wait!

Review of Finding Sonny by Steve Lazarus
Finding Sonny is Steve Lazarus’ gripping and high-octane sequel to Call Me Sonny. The second installment of the Bryce Chandler crime thriller series, this novel masterfully intertwines suspense, action, and political intrigue, creating a story that is as thought-provoking as it is thrilling.
The plot pits ex-FBI agent Bryce Chandler against Sonny, a cunning and ruthless operator of a murder-for-hire business. Lazarus skillfully weaves in additional layers of complexity, including an environmental disaster and a congressman with presidential ambitions, making the stakes feel monumental. The narrative is fast-paced, with twists and turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats, culminating in an explosive and unexpected conclusion.
What stands out most is Lazarus's ability to craft morally complex characters. Bryce is a compelling protagonist, driven by justice but haunted by his past, while Sonny is a chillingly charismatic antagonist. The supporting cast is equally well-developed, adding depth and nuance to the story.
Lazarus's writing is sharp and cinematic, painting vivid scenes that immerse readers in the action. The themes of unchecked power and ethical dilemmas resonate deeply, making this more than just a standard thriller.
Overall, Finding Sonny is a great ead for fans of crime thrillers. Smart, intense, and satisfying, it leaves you eagerly anticipating what twists and turns Bryce Chandler will take in his pursuit of an elusive villain. Highly recommended!

Finding Sonny is a gripping and masterfully crafted second installment in this exceptional crime fiction series. The author raises the stakes with a plot that is both emotionally charged and relentlessly suspenseful. From the first page, I was pulled into a tangled web of secrets, deception, and high-stakes investigation that never lets up.

The protagonist, Bryce Chandler, continues to evolve in compelling ways, revealing new depths and vulnerabilities that make them all the more relatable. The pacing is flawless, with twists that feel both surprising and earned, and the dialogue crackles with authenticity. I especially appreciated how the story expands on threads from the first book while still standing strong on its own.

If you’re a fan of intelligent crime fiction with complex characters and a plot that keeps you guessing, Finding Sonny is a must-read. I couldn’t put it down—and I’m already counting the days until book three!

I enjoyed this book so much more than its predecessor as I was able to jump quickly into the storyline and catch up with the characters in a way that wasn’t possible in ‘Call me Sonny’. Lots of adventure and back stabbing kept me turning the pages. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy.

Very entertaining book! Read it in one sitting after really enjoying the first book of the series. Very likable characters and a terrific complex story that has a lot of interesting twists. It didn’t quite possess the verite and plausibility of the incredible first novel, but outstanding nonetheless.

Book #2 in the Bryce Chandler series of thrillers. Bryce is still following clues to find "Sonny", the mysterious syndicate head responsible for so many of the murders that Bryce is investigating. So far, this series has proven to be excellent.

Superb

I'm loving this series! Bryce is a FBI agent who stumbled upon 2 surprisingly related murders. Only to find out that there is a ring of killers for hire operating across the country. But how? And by whom?
