literally one of the best novel i have ever read. terribly realistic; it doesn't give you what you want to see, but what would happen in real life. i absolutely loved everything about it, every line, every character, every dialogue. ming sheng and qingyu have very little direct interaction but their relationship is so important for the plot; i loved how it was showed (and i loved ming sheng, period. like i've been obsessed with him for months). it deals with heavy and dark themes, not in a "satisfactory" way because it chose to be realistic, and reality isn't satisfactory. the internal growth of qingyu is just so interesting to read. this is a masterpiece
