"I’m proud to say that I never lost my sincerity in my choices, even if they were wrong"

Okay Jesus Christ they pulled it back something fierce. This is easily the best volume of the series, the conclusion to all of the relationship building and development of the two protagonists come to a close in a really beautiful way, I was so interested in seeing this story to a end I went on a almost hour and a half binge to get it done. I'm glad I went through this for the ending, and thats not to say the mystery is bad but its not the focus of the book to me, this was heavy in the emotional aspect and it hit for me. Hopefully the Togami series of novels will have this consistency but thats a different writers burden.

So it's the finale. 8 years later when volume 1 was released in 2013. Oh boy. Where do I get started?

Plot-wise, it's just about similar as the first and other volumes previous to that in terms of events and the investigation portion. The scene starts off with the 2 MCs visiting the Detective Library, and the novel repeats the information and descriptions for it as it did in volume 1. Some filler after that and then events move onto her meeting one of the Crime Victims' Relief Committee's messenger, with him explaining both their roles in an upcoming challenge. The scene then moves on to the school, with Samidare and Kirigiri going on a little shopping trip as per the other students' graduation ceremony. The next few scenes are dedicated to a bit of info and filler and finally the investigation event happens, the same location and similar parallels as per the first volume.

As per tradition, there are multiple new characters appearing in those scenes but like always they aren't described that much and presented in a form of you knowing every little detail. They, of course are obligatorily left aside. The ending was an interesting way to wrap things up with the death of Samidare Yui (Stated by the author that it was planned in the beginning) and Kirigiri Koyko's change of attitude as her partner's loss seemed to affect her quite a bit. In the end it does explain how and why THH Kyoko is the way she is, even the epilogue ending off with her being accepted into Hope's Peak and having a run in with Naegi Makoto.

Spoilers: Now we know why her hair is like that and why she wears gloves!

I like Kyoko's character. She's like a smarter version of me. If only these were officially translated! The phrasing is weird at times. Are light novels supposed to be like that?

I hope they consider officially translating these. They're short reads.

Easily the best & most emotionally intense book of the series.

Comparing the final two novels to the earlier ones, the main characters have a strong and memorable character development that fits the context of the events that take place, especially from this last novel. I did not expect Yui to be such a memorable character for me.

I really enjoyed book 1, but then it slowly went a bit downhill, but picked back up again. Definitely worth reading until the end. Though I wish some events happened a bit differently.

I hope to see more of Yui and Kirigiri’s story in future games or novels.

Ps. Definitely sobbed after finishing this
