All the way through th book I kept hearing in my head, "The words of Moses are the words of Christ" (Irenaeus, Against the Heretics, 4.2.3.). Bryan pulls together a very scholarly approach to the Gospel according to John. His aim is to show that the Word at Sinai walked into the world in the incarnation. That the unseen God was seen at Sinai addressing Israel, giving Israel life through word, and then became flesh and tabernacled among us. Therefore, "both the words spoken by the Word-made-visible at Sinai and the words spoken by the Word-made-flesh in the incarnation bear true witness to the truth of God's life-giving words" (128-129). I highly recommend the book.
