Molly is a 33-year-old widow struggling to rebuild her life after the sudden loss of her husband, Crew. To cope, she throws herself into work, constant travel, and numbing distractions. But when a chance airport encounter with Chase—an ex-boyband member turned music producer—leads to a sharp, witty, and unexpected flirtation, she feels something she hasn’t in a long a spark.
Ash is a cancer survivor, reaching new success in her career and sustained happiness in her marriage to Martin. That is until her world comes to an unexpected crossroads. As her and Martin navigate the challenges of life, love and loss, they realize the new woman their best friend is dating may be able to offer perspective they so badly crave.
Waves Keep Rolling is a poignant, witty, and emotionally rich novel about love after loss, the courage to embrace new beginnings, and the unexpected ways people come into our lives exactly when we need them.
Book boyfriend goals… book friendships goals… and honestly the perfect book for book club simply because the charcuterie and drink pairings you could have based on Molly, Ash, or Chase is a literal *chefs kiss* .
A great story about relationships, how they change, how they come into our lives when we need them most, and how people deal with grief. This book like some of the relationships in the story came into my life at the perfect time, working through some personal grief.
A very good story but one which kind of skipped the "showing" of the difficult parts in favour of briefly "telling" us about them after. And I find those parts that were skipped are the places from which most of the emotions would emanate. Other than the video speech of course.
There were several errors which could have done with a tidy up but overall, for what seems to be a debut story, it was good.
I really enjoyed Katie's debut novel. What really stuck with me was the intimacy of all the friendships... it makes me want more friend groups like Molly's! The whole book played out like a movie while reading it. A perfect vacation companion or book club book! And don't forget the wine and charcuterie.
Reading this book feels like having a long overdue catch up chat with close friends. It’s emotionally rich, with relatable, lovable characters that draw you into every relationship. Honestly, it’s best enjoyed with a glass of wine (or two) in hand. The perfect summertime book club pick!
Such a great debut by Katie! Leave it to her to create characters that I will continue to think about long after I’ve finished. I will also be mentally and emotionally processing this book for quite sometime. Hopefully there is more to come!
Such a great debut by Katie! Her character building was spot on with an interesting storyline that honestly felt like a movie in my head. Every character was so well written, you wished you could be a part of their friend group. Also the ending was both unexpected and intriguing. I wasn't a huge fan of the 3rd person writing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and hope to read more from Katie in the future!!
